VIKINGS NEWS

Vikings sign 17 to the PS

Jets sign former Viking bust Lewis Cine to the PS, he played a grand total of 10 snaps on defense despite being a 1st round pick. That 2022 draft is looking worse by the day.

NFL NEWS

Nothing of note

Question of the Day

The GOAT signed something like a 10 year 400 million dollar contract to broadcast games. Would you still bring him in as QB1 and how much would you pay him if so?

Media Selection

Thread Guidelines

  • Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.

Gov. Tim Walz is facing yet another scandal after it was revealed he signed new teacher licensing rules that target Christians, Jews, and Muslims.

Taking effect in July 2025, Minnesota will require teacher license applicants to affirm transgenderism, race, and other culturally sensitive issues that violate their religious beliefs. If teachers refuse to accept the new regulations, their teaching license will not be renewed. The policy applies to both public and private schools.

Patently unconstitutional, but Dem’s don’t care about that.

The Vermont Department of Health says to stop using the terms “son” and “daughter” in order to be more inclusive.

This erosion of the meaning of words and the dismantling of family as the building block of society is wrong. We need to stand up to these lunatics and not give in to their views. Time to tell the “woke” to go back to sleep.

Actually, that’s not what will happen. How are you going to get 5 Trillion dollars out of the “very” rich? If every Billionaire in the country gave all their money to the Government, it wouldn’t come close to 5 Trillion dollars.

And it was never the plan. As you note there simply aren’t enough millionaires and billionaires.
There real target – where the money is – is the professional group that make between 400 -800k per year. Doctors, lawyers, executives etc.
Of course it’s not good politics to say you are. going after doctors et all. Billionaires plays much better. But as we know billionaires have more tax lawyers than the IRS and can move money and income all over the world.

KAM explaining parting ways with both his first two picks in the 2020 draft (Cine and Booth) and doing his best Kamala Harris impersonation:

“I think when you look at decisions, you try to break them into outcomes. What happened? Bad outcomes, good outcomes whatever they are. And bad outcomes can happen from a lot of things. Bad decision making bad process, bad information, bad implementation when they get here [or] bad support.

There’s a lot of different things that can go a certain way. So you’re always in real time, trying to evaluate how you’re doing it as an organization, not just for the good of the organization but for the good of the person. And I think at times, you get to a place where that roster spot, that value received is better used elsewhere and it also might be better for that player.”

Did you see the news reports about the China meeting?

But the most tense moment came just before that, when Sullivan met one of China’s vice chairs of the Central Military Commission, Gen. Zhang Youxia. The top general confronted Sullivan on growing US support for Taiwan’s military. Zhang informed Sullivan that reunification of Taiwan with the mainland is “the mission and responsibility” of the Chinese PLA military and that it won’t be deterred. Sullivan looked nervous and unsettled throughout the whole encounter, with Zhang confident and beaming.

Politics and elections have changed.
Was watching a preview of the electoral college last night. Most states are already decided and a few will decide the winner.
The model presented had it all coming down to Georgia. But this assumed Trump won Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Don’t feel real good about the voting around Atlanta, Philadelphia and Milwaukee.
Still a rather small number of votes will decide the election winner.

Two different types of leagues.

Survival is picking one team to win every week.
Once you use say the Chiefs in week 1, you can’t use the Chiefs the rest of the year.

If your pick wins that week, you survive to the next week.
If your pick loses, you are done for the year.

So, maybe, a team was looking at Hall, and asking about him as the cuts were approaching. Vikes might have waited until today to waive Hall, after said team made another QB move (Chargers?) then waived Hall, got Rypien, and in the end, will keep Hall.

Then he would have had to be wavied with an injury designation.

Maybe they waited to see how bad it was, once it was determined it was minor then they could waive him without issue?

Just read this from elsewhere – about cutting Hall.
He played OK in preseason games but had played very poorly. in practice and KOC put a lot of stock in this – one read, bad throw.
Then again, this could be complete BS.

The switch is interesting.
Guess they kept Hall while seeing if Rypien was cut, passed thru waivers, and not signed to another practice squad. Once he made it thru all of that KAM/KOC made their move.

Rypien evidently has a decent arm and has worked in a ‘McVay’ offense in the past. Not sure why they didn’t sign him to our practice squad if they thought highly of him.

Obviously KAM/KOC didn’t think that much of Halls performance in Preseason game #2 and #3. Was he injured during the hit on his last play, pretty good hit? KOC did mention after the game that he got hit pretty good and was dealing with a ‘leg thing’. But if injured that complicates the wavier situation.

Lots of questions, not a lot of answers. We will have to see what they said in their next press conference.

The Browns have restructured Deshaun Watson’s contract, converting $44.79M of his 2024 base salary into a signing bonus and creating $35.832M in cap space.

Cleveland now has over $62M in cap space, the most in the entire NFL.

Niners have Aiyuk and Williams.
Steelers have TJ Watt
Bengals have Higgins

NFL/NFPA require that teams have to spend like 90% of their cap every year. So something has to happen.

Yep. I still think Cleveland has to spend a bunch of money this year to avoid a problem.

While the NFL has a salary cap, it also has a salary floor, so teams cannot hold onto money perpetually. Teams must spend at least 89% of the cap over a four-year period, while the NFL as a whole must spend at least 95% of the cap.

With the initial 53 man roster established (still expect some moves will be made) and 10 days till the first Vikings game of the season, it’s time to make some predictions.

I predict a win, with Darnold playing decently. Not great, not terrible. I think our defense finds a way to force some turnovers, and that will be the difference in the game. Vikings win 13-10.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit stayed a lower court decision on Monday, meaning that the state of Florida can now begin enforcing a 2023 law prohibiting doctors from prescribing puberty blockers and hormone therapy to minors.

In its 2-1 ruling, the court’s majority suggested that they did not believe that the law intends to harm or discriminate against transgender people, in contrast to an opinion a district court had reached.

The two judges that voted in the majority, Judges Britt Grant and Robert Luck, were both appointed by Trump.

Florida’s law will remain in effect while the court reaches a final determination on the constitutionality of the statute.

This is ridiculous. Minors can’t use alcohol, but doctors can give them drugs and perform surgeries on them that will alter their bodies forever? And the State of Florida has to enact a law to stop it? And that law is being challenged for discrimination? We have lunatics being allowed to destroy our children, and people support that? WTF?

Laughing. Shanahan’s offense is a very complex running game scheme, blended with a lot of timing routes in the passing game. He doesn’t want the QB to think too much. He wants to get the ball out quick. Purdy is really a perfect fit. He’s not an improviser. He’s a technician, and a good one.

Dobbs, could be OK in this offense, because it’s not built on an extremely complex passing scheme compared to other offenses (like KOC’s) and the running game is amongst the best in the league.
