Well, that game was horrible to watch. It was a team effort, both sides of the ball contributed to the sucktitude. I feel like the Vikings have gotten outcoached the last two weeks, on both sides of the ball. When something isn’t working, I think it’s a good idea to make changes to what you’re doing. I haven’t seen that happen with the Vikings game plan.
Veteran quarterbacks love it when defenses play zone, they’ll pick it apart all day long. We saw it last week with Goff, and again this week with Stafford. We allowed Stafford to throw more touchdown passes than he had thrown the entire season prior to last night. Despite having absolutely no success stopping the Rams offense, the Vikings did not deviate from the plan. The results were not good, it was ugly to watch.
The offense showed some spark at first, led mainly by Justin Jefferson. After that, the Vikings forgot how to block, Darnold forgot how to throw the ball away, and our game plan was not effective. Our goal line offense has looked horrible lately. If we get the ball at the two yard line, we are all but guaranteed to settle for a field goal. Again, the Vikings did not deviate from their game plan, despite the fact that it was ineffective.
Clete Blakeman is the worst referee in the NFL. I have no clue why he’s still an NFL referee. I honestly think the man takes mushrooms before the game, because he straight up hallucinates and sees things that don’t happen. I laughed when he missed the facemask on the safety that ended the game. Darnold was complaining, but if he’d have thrown the damn ball, it wouldn’t have happened.
It was a frustrating game to watch, and now we have 10 days until our next game, so we can stew about it for a week & a half. Yay.

Sorry I didn’t get a thread up this weekend, everyone. I was spending time at home, then worked on building a game room for kiddo in the loft at my shop. It’s coming along nicely, I put up some LED lights, put carpet down, hung the TV, & have a couple of our older game systems hooked up.
Apparently one of the Bears defensive backs was taunting the crowd while the play started.

When I contacted U of M about a copy of my diploma for work (prison) they replied that ‘didn’t know who I was’ even through I provided them a copy of my degree.
Then they started sending me requests for money. Screw those guys.

I still get requests for donations from Wisconsin-Madison 35 years later.
Good part was when they replied they sent it in the ‘pre-addressed, stamped envelope’ that I sent with the request.
So the reply went to the prison, along with the diploma I had sent them to explain who I was. The prison ignored the letter from U of M saying that they didn’t know who I was, they took the diploma I had sent the U as proof that I had a degree and they gave an extra $50 a month until I retired from there.
So I got the last laugh on them.

I think I was helped by fact that since I wasn’t able to watch/follow the game I had distanced myself emotionally from it.
Now I feel like ‘it is what it is’.
They are still my team I prefer they win but I know the other is always possible.
I felt all along – we just played a tough (physically) game against a really talented team. Then we have to travel across the country and play four days later against a very hungry team that just got a lot of talent back.
Even truly great teams can easily fault in that scenario.
So to me they are exactly the same team they were at 5 -0 – except for the big injury.
Dalvin has been moved up from the practice squad for the game. Will be his first game as a Cowboy. Not sure how he’ll be used. Maybe just a back-up.

Thank you. Glad to read you were OK after the hurricane. My neighbors just got back from cleaning up their FL house. House was OK, but pool, cabana and car were damaged. Several other neighbors have FL homes too, but they were all OK.
We were spared any significant damage, but many friends and neighbors were hit hard. We’ve helped a lot of folks with clean-up, and support like making home cooked meals for them. Doing what we can.

Still believe the Vikings, Lions, and Packers are the three best teams in the NFC.
Season is a marathon, and division will come down to last couple of games of season. All three teams make playoffs, but winning division is a big plus.
We’ll see how the loss of Darrisaw will impact the offense, assuming he will be out for longer, if not for the season. All I see at this point in time is the same old Vikings, to be honest. Don’t know how good we really are.

PS watching a game on Amazon, at least on my smart TVs, sucks! YT TV has a much better interface. With Amazon, when you fast forward there is no display of what you are FF through, and it has a glacial response to rewind or fast forward. Surely Bezos can have some techs whip up a better interface?

My wife has a friend whose house was destroyed down here by Milton. They are staying in Atlanta (where they’re from) with their kids for the next 14 months while their house gets rebuilt. This morning she received a text asking if she wanted their tickets to the Bucs vs the Falcons game on Sunday. Apparently they are Falcons fans, and always go to this game. DE had an advantage. He’s a climatologist and knew the hurricane was coming, forcing your friends to leave, and you to receive the tickets.

It is, and it’s a good thing we have a Government so concerned about it, they will raise taxes on us, and force us to use EV’s etc, that will do nothing of consequence to stop it.

A couple of months ago The Teacher bought tickets to an event for a Thursday night, I didn’t realized until last week it conflicted with the Vikings game. I figured that bailing out on an evening out with the wife to watch the game was a sure way to jinx us. She offered to forgo dinner out before the event so I could at least watch the 1st Qtr.
I left when it was 14-7 and the Lambs on the way to 14-14, checked the score at intermission and saw that we just gave up a safety and 90s left. I didn’t bother to check the net when we got home late (11pm).
I had trouble sleeping last night and knew a lot of us would be doomers today. This morning I read about the game on multiple sites and the missed call on the safety. Once I got here I found what I expected, a few people trying to talk down a bunch of (rightfully) pissed off posters, of which I am one.
I don’t know what happened in the 2nd half when we traded FGs for TDs and got 8 pts down late. The Safety was a travesty, CD going down was a gut punch, lots of reason to be upset. But nothing I can control.
All I can control is my reaction to it all. I will focus on the election and hope DT can ‘beat the cheat’ that is coming. I will focus on getting the house fully ready for winter. I will keep my eye on the Vikings and hope that they can do well.
I will be here, just less invested emotionally in the games. Oh and FTP!

With a couple of three and outs in the second quarter, and then Darnold taking an atrocious 13 yard sack when we were at the Rams 43 at 2nd and 8, I started thinking of some of the spirited discussions of years past with different coaches, QB, etc…
Now I’m going to pile on. The Darrisaw injury “injured” me the most…we should have kneeled to end the half but I would accept losing your LT to injury on a high risk high reward deep shot but to have it happen on a stupid inside run to Jones was really the moment in the game that I lost optimism.
I didn’t expect 17-0, also didn’t expect 0-2 coming out of the bye and having a good situation going into the Detroit game, including them losing their best defender.
Agree completely. I get running a play if we’re at our 15/20 yard line to ‘see what happens’…
But inside our own 5? We had just forced a stop (and avoided the dreaded ‘double dip’) and just needed to get to the locker room. Take a knee.
Darrisaw isn’t our best player – but he might be most important to that offense running consistently. We’ll feel the impact of that loss all year long.
You’ll be your old self again after we win the next three games and DT the national election.
