Vikings @ Jaguars
Also, it’s a post-win Monday! The Vikings got a win, the defense looked stout, and our replacement long snapper and kicker both did their jobs yesterday. The kicker nearly missed one (a near miss is also known as a field goal made), and the long snapper put one a little wide on one kick, but the end result was a perfect day for them, as replacement kicker John Parker Romo was 4/4 on field goals.
And now, the rest of the story. The offense….. Well, the running game seemed to work but Sam Darnold had a very rough day. I’m not sure if he’s injured or something, but the past two games have been bad. He’s thrown five picks in the last two games. I’m pretty sure that all 3 INTs yesterday were in the red zone, all three were either at the goal line or in the end zone. He did not play well yesterday, he was way off target on nearly every deep ball. He did make some nice throws and runs to extend drives and get first downs, but he did next to nothing in the red zone. What he did do in the red zone was mostly bad. He needs to do better.
That said, the Vikings won yesterday 12-7, are 7-2 and sitting in a good spot in the NFC. They can compete with the Lions for the division IF they can figure out how to get Darnold back to his early season form, and figure out how to play 4 complete quarters of football. 7-2 with the Titans coming up, let’s hope the offense and Darnold can play better next week. I also hope Aaron Jones is okay, those cheap-shotting SOBs took a few shots at players yesterday, I thought it was hilarious that it eventually officially put the game away for the Vikings. SKOL!!!!!!!

According to this site, the Republicans have garnered the majority in the House with 219 seats, with 6 seats still to be called.

Happy Veteran’s Day to my dad, he fought in WWII and Korea, was a paratrooper. I never really got to know him, but he was a great man.
My Dad was in Korea, but my great uncles were in WWII. One won a Silver Star in the Battle of the Bulge. I found out at his funeral, he never talked about it, was never ‘normal’ in hindsight he had PTSD.
I believe in state rights. But damn, tomorrow is a week since the election and some are still counting votes with the House still indecided.
This needs to be fixed.
States – do whatever you want but you have to be done in 72 hours ( an idea).
Some of them have stupid rules that they wait up to one week post election for absentee ballots to trickle in and be counted – SUPPOSEDLY as long as they are post marked by election day….
That still doesn’t explain why so much of the vote is still uncounted.
Stupid is and should not be an excuse.
This isn’t hard. If you have like 72 hours, start there and work backwards with your rules.
Oh by the way – bet your Dad was like one of the old time superintendent/principal I had when young They made it all work!
It only gets worse each election cycle. I expect by 2036 it will be a month before the votes are counted.
Someone must be picking corn nearby. We rarely have much traffic on our road, but the trucks have been rolling by here a lot today. They are noisy. I’m spoiled and like it quiet while I work.
Laughing… The Falcons signed Lamar Jackson!!!!
Not sure why this is funny.
Maybe you could explain the joke.
This Lamar Jackson is a Cornerback.
Maybe, just maybe, Sam is tired. He is not used to playing this many games in one season. He usually gets benched after 6 or 7 games.
Post of the day right there. Haha.
Solid theory.
Haha! Nailed it.
LOL
i said this joke to a couple co-workers and it made everyone laugh, so i appreciate it
I guess if great minds think alike, then the not great minds would too.
I will have to borrow this at some point in the future.
no, i meant i read it, and stole it from you. that’s why i said i appreciated you
Nice Columbia University allows a anti Veterans day gathering. Lost a brother in Nam, you scum can suck my you know what…………
Sorry for your loss…..That Columbia stuff is infuriating.
Would not let any of them close enough to soil my ‘you know what….’
Let those kids (idiots) go fight a war or two and then they can come back and tell us what’s right and wrong.
Meh, just ignore them. 1st amendment and all that. The more attention they get the more it encourages them.
Yup, they can say what they want.
And so can we when we respond to their crap.
If they get ‘more attention’ that just means more Americans hear them and become MAGA supporters and less likely to try and force us to pay for their education/indocrination..
Or we deport the morons to the middle east and watch them get used as the little bitches that they are or throw them off buildings like they do with gays there.
Don’t know about this 1st amendment stuff.
My son’s last year in college, a group of veteran students put small American flags besides the sidewalks. BLM students said they found the flags offensive, so school had them removed.
So I find these students anti vet flags offensive. As well as the whole event.
What law prevails.
School Administrators AKA Bureaucrats have no regard for ‘right and wrong’ they are just interested in CYA and furthering their careers.
Must not be many veteran students at Columbia.
Oh oh SoCal, my Father was a hard working School Administrator as is my brother……
Don’t make me open a can of whoop ass on you!
Yes, a number of School Admins are overpaid and underworked and only concerned about keeping their posh jobs as long as they can.
Ok, I can grant that there are some exceptions.
The Teacher dealt with many of them in Calif and the exceptions are few and far between.
My dad was a small town superintendent…First one at the school every day, usually by 6.30 am, and I never remember him being home before 6 pm, and it was a 5 minute walk.
She just said that the few who effective were forced out because they were not ‘yes people’.
I am not surprised to hear that some of the few exceptions are in NoDak.
Had i known we wouldn’t score a TD and Sammy throws 3 pick’s i’d never turned tv on.
Just rewatch election night results – even better than football.
‘even better than football’
And the results will last longer and have more impact.
Until with get to the Superb Owl that is.
Gee, I wonder if the NFL wanted the Vikings to lose yesterday? Fake interception #2 would be the key pickup there. That’s what, 4 weeks in a row they’ve tried really hard to get the Vikings to lose (and succeeded with 2 of them)? I’m not saying the Vikings would have for sure won those games, but there were obvious biases these last 4 weeks, much different than earlier season games. I wonder if they’ll want the Titans to win next week.
Detroit had an obvious pass interference last night that wasn’t called, otherwise Houston would have won. Also, Gibbs ran out of bounds yet they ran the clock at one point, forcing Houston to use a time-out. Anyway, I might just stop watching since they clearly push games heavily in one direction most of the time.
It’s clear refs have been told not to call PI much this year, as they would call 10 a game for the Packers alone every game the last 2 decades, but now even obvious ones aren’t called (see Oliver’s catch yesterday they ruled “not a catch” when the defender was stretching his shirt about 2 feet). That brings me to my next point: Why do the Vikings have to use 2-3 challenges per game consistently? I don’t see other teams having to challenge terrible calls as much. It is infuriating they constantly have to correct the officials, even in obvious situations. And then on review (like they “interception”), they get it wrong too (just like in Lameblow). It is clear they have to be trying to rig games if they can’t get any of these calls right, even on slow-mo review. And the missed facemasks? Notice how even Mac Jones gets a slight graze called (then again, he basically cried to the refs while he was falling).
You understand that the NFL is considered ‘Entertainment’ not Sports right?
This is the key. I don’t bet on the NFL, the same way I don’t bet on the WWE.
I do. Just frustrating that they present it as fair and pretend they want fair results, when they clearly don’t.
‘Fair’ for them is whatever makes them the most money.
Accountant, ‘We just made $50M screwing the Vikings’.
NFL Exec, ‘thats fair’.
Was considering if above is likely yesterday while watching the game. How does the NFL get the word out that Detroit and KC are now the darlings, receive preferential treatment, without someone going to the media. I wonder if it is more driven by legalized sports betting, vikings failed to cover the spread yesterday.
I think Vegas has more to do with it. Too many games have had big spreads in Vegas (one team heavily favored or bet on) that went Vegas’s way with obvious shenanigans. I think something like 90% of the money was on the Vikings in the Rams game.
The Jets game last against the Texans was the same situation.
You don’t think the all-powerful NFL has a non-disclosure agreement with the refs on their directives and job performances?
Maybe they do, maybe they don’t. Not my subject.
But if we can’t beat the Jags with Mac Jones we’ve got far bigger problems than the refs.
IIRC KOC only used one challenge, on the OOB catch by Jax. I’m okay with those bang bang sideline calls getting missed once in a while.
I thought the facemask was blindingly obvious. Not saying the safety to end the game a couple of weeks back was subtle, should have been called.
My opinion, no one is “out to get” the Vikings from an officiating standpoint.
Not every week. But that “interception” in the endzone was clear and obvious. How do you explain the frequency with which they get those calls wrong WITH replay?
A suggestion. Go back and watch Jets game. One of our drives JJ received three of the most ticky tac PI calls in our favor ever. Jets fans went nuts.
Then look at our DB mugging of the final INT that sealed the game for us – no call.
Refs is not my thing, but I would guess if you would ask the opposing fans how they felt after a game against us, you would be surprised.
Perhaps, but let’s say those were bad calls in our favor. What is the ratio? 10:1 bad calls or no-calls going against the Vikings? It sure seems that way. Maybe the NFL/Vegas had us slated to win that game.
Just think as fans we are all ‘biased’ to some extent.
I agree, but if we get a bad call in our favor (rare), I am the first to admit it to my wife or friends when I watch the games with them. But even when I watch games I don’t care about (Browns vs. Steelers, whatever else…) I can see there is clear bias one way usually on several calls. Not just “evens out” stuff. I think it’s rigged.
Also, I didn’t notice the bias a much the first several weeks of the season, though winning can cover up some cares about that (i.e. it doesn’t matter because we got the W).
True. I watch a lot of games, many teams, and refs seem to miss/make bad calls all over the place. Holding , PI, illegal contact are jokes.
Rather than think it’s rigged, although I think like many sports the “stars” get the calls, I tend to think its more incompetence. And there seems a bit of keep the games close refereeing, but who know.
The aforementioned catch by Oliver had to be challenged. It was an obvious catch, but they of course ruled it hit the ground (and no hold with the shirt stretch). 2 challenges, would have another since he won both, but why has it come to that at last twice this year?
Jefferson 5/9 for 48 yards. He’s a bum, cut ‘im!
…..but if you add in the yardage/points he SHOULD have had……..
34 million dollar decoy. Feed Hock
Gotta give Darnold credit for his Houdini impersonation. There were a handful of escapes he made as the pocket collapsed.
Cousins would have been strip-sacked on most of them.
Yes, it is nice to have a QB who can escape.
Possibly, but he likely wouldn’t have thrown 3 red-zone picks, either. So who knows how that game would’ve went.
Darnold is the 6th most sacked QB in the league… very Houdini like indeed.
Do you think it’s somewhat related to our long developing pass plays?
Slingin Sam does tend to hold on to the ball a long time….
I do and don’t think it’s a big deal. We run an offense that sends receivers down the field and maybe they taken longer, but the reward is higher. Cousins got sacked a lot too, and at least a couple of years back Stafford did as well with this offense.
I think our scheme and play calls definitely have something to do with it. KOC’s scheme is very cerebral for both the receivers and the QB. Also, it’s almost completely devoid of timing routes.
Timing routes aren’t real. That’s just a buzz word.
‘Devoid of timing routes’? thought most every aspect of an offensive play was based on timing.
Timing routes are quick hitting routes where the receiver breaks inside or outside and the QB throws the ball almost immediately after he takes the snap. There is no “read” or progression.
OK. Even though there is a lot of passing from the gun, thought route schemes have a timing aspect much like the 3, 5. 7 route tree schemes – like a 5, 10, 15 yard routes etc.
There is, and “timing” the drop to the route combination is what you are referring to. That’s different than what is referred to as a “timing route” in NFL parlance.
I almost posted this exact thing this morning, and now, after reading comments, I’m still shocked that he has been sacked that much! Sam just seems to be more aware of the pocket while know “hos to use it” and not a giant crumpler like KC was.
Actually think the opposite. Sam is certainly a much, much better scrambler. But his pocket awareness is shaky at times and he seems to take longer to go thru two reads compared to KC getting thru four.
He does hold the ball “forever”. That’s what it seems like for me – makes me nervous haha.
Curious how Robinson LT will grade out on PFF. I saw him get bull rushed into Darnold’s lap at least once.
Also can someone tell KOC to quit with the gadget plays in or near the red zone. Has any gadgets worked for the Vikes this year?
That play action, rollout, to the tight end when the defense was selling out for the run last week worked pretty well.
Not sure it qualifies as a ‘gadget’ though.
Darnold > Jefferson > Jones last weekend worked well. But yeah, few and far between.
i still can’t believe that a few years ago, that’s bynum interception would have been a safety. that’s insane haha
Did they say when the rule changed? I’m trying to remember a game where a defender intercepted a ball on the one and fell into the end zone for a safety. 1961?
See comment above. Dumb.
idk man, but if it was 1961, you would have been what….30?
Age shaming? Unless we are talking about FJB age is irrelevant.
I was 3 in 1961 and I am still in my prime.
Your a kid and I’m in my prime!
That’s what FJB would say too.
Damn straight, sonny boy!
That was a stupid rule. I’m glad they changed it.
Dumbest crap ever. His momentum carries him into the endzone (untouched), and he gets touched there. Should be touchback. He didn’t “complete the catch” until he survived the ground, so in my mind, he didn’t have possession until the roll into the endzone (you know damn well if he dropped it there in the endzone they don’t rule it a “fumble” but an incomplete catch). Just another way to try to cheat the game away, hoping for a safety.
Not that it matters, a drive-killer is a drive-killer, but 1st INT ball was at the 30 and it caromed off Jets’ hands at the 25.
The Jags were gifted one in the end zone, anyone with eyes saw the ball move and hit the ground.
The 3rd one was on Darnold 100%. Not sure if he didn’t see the WR breaking WFO until late, but he should have rifled it at him instead of floating it.
All true, but the worrisome thing is that all three were very poor decisions.
I hope Sam will be fine, but it is cause for concern if we want to make a run.
It’s easy to glance at the all-22 and see open receivers, but there is no doubt something is off. There were receivers open and Darnold is having a hard time seeing them. I get that he has to work his progressions but it’s clear that he is staring down Jefferson. He has plenty of time in the pocket, they need to do something like “reverse” the progression order.
Sometimes, it’s the player, not the play. I’ve seen QB’s throw into double coverage because they just feel like their guy can make the play. Also, there’s only so much time in the pocket. QB’s may not come off the first read because they’re afraid of a sack fumble, or interception. Patience is hard in the NFL.
Maybe a lot to this. Was listening to Brady talk on this a couple of weeks ago. Was saying – right after snap you kind of know where ball will go. defense dictates. Sometimes, first read is sort of not there, but you want to give it more of a chance, so you may look off some and then come back and throw it. Seems a lot more to this than maybe we see or even what they are trying to do.
I could write a tome on how NFL offenses are designed and what they are trying to do. OC’s are looking at defensive “holes” to exploit, and disguise, misdirection, and mismatches all play a role. One play can ask a QB to do 5 or more different things depending on what the defense is doing at the snap. Defenses are also working on the same principles, and trying to force the ball to a certain place on the field, to a certain player, etc.
With all that though, sometimes the “just throw the ball to JJ” ends up being how it works out.
Were all 3 INTs throws to Jefferson? Can’t remember.
Yes, and the last one Justin looked pissed, threw his hands up and turned away, leaving the interceptor alone to start running up the field.
I think all three of them went to a Jaguars player.
That’s why when you hear the so called ‘experts’ say so and so was wide open and the QB blew it, it gives me pause. His read at that particular point of the play may well be completely on the other side of field.
This is exactly right. Most NFL passing offenses ask a QB to break the field in half (left or right) based on the formation, playcall, and safety alignment pre-snap. Thus when the ball is snapped the QB is working one side of the field or the other first, and there are route combinations he’s evaluating in about a second and a half. People who think a QB “scans the field” looking for the most open receiver, don’t know how the position is played. There are two immediate reads pre-snap the QB is looking at as he comes to the line. The safety alignment, and the middle linebacker. Those initial reads give him the sense of the defensive alignment and pass defense responsibilities, as well as where the center of the defense is (middle linebacker read). That data set is how the QB initially computes what the route combinations will work against, and define the “premier” receiver, pre-snap.
If I could ask, not quite sure what all the concern is. KOC was brought in here to get the ball to JJ like the Rams did with Kupp.
It’s worked pretty good the last couple of years and most of this. JJ has been a league leader for almost three years. Feed the stud has worked pretty darn well.
So what’s the big deal if Sam forces him a few balls?
When JJ got here, it was immediately apparent he could “win” on almost any route, and his catch radius was immense. You almost could not miss him. His ability accelerate, change directions, and stop and go, made him extremely hard to “blanket”. He stood out completely. Thus, Cousins was told to get JJ the ball, and force some throws to him. That clearly was the case as Cousins threw a number of balls to JJ when he had three defenders on him. Sam hasn’t forced as many balls to JJ as Cousins did, and it means that KOC isn’t as confident in Sam as he was with Cousins. That’s wise, because Sam isn’t nearly as good throwing the football as Cousins is.
That said, Sam is no dummy, and he knows who the best receiver on the field is, and sometimes he’s gonna try and stuff one in there.
Well some talk above the interception to JJ. Seems to me JJ had single coverage but didn’t get open much, but the interception was more of a bad throw than decision to throw it.
And I would think a QB should be instructed to throw the ball to the number 1 receiver in the league any. time he has single coverage.
Yep, that is the case. JJ in single coverage? Put the ball up.
Tried watching them again.
1st INT – Jets got mugged, DPI not called – not a bad throw.
2nd INT – Horrible read – no chance the ball was going to make it past the 2 DBs – it was incomplete – DB made a helluva attempt, NFL gifted them the TO.
3rd INT – Jets broke wide open – Sam should have drilled it at him, father outside towards the front pylon. There was nobody in front to knock it down, but he floated it and the DB closed the distance.
number 3 – so bad throw, not bad read. Happens.
One person involved with Harris’ team told Axios: “The 107-day Harris campaign was nearly flawless. The Biden campaign that preceded it was the opposite.”
A former Biden staffer shot back: “How did you spend $1 billion and not win? What the f***?”
I’m sorry to laugh – you’d have to understand my love/hate of Oprah Winfrey – like she is extremely successful, but annoys me, but shares her wealth, etc… (I’m so conflicted). The most awesomest biggest revelation of the election was that Harris paid Oprah $1M to do essentially an infomercial on her. Gawd that makes me laugh thinking of how Oprah acted like she was the second coming while counting her 10,000 $100 bills. I’m definitely going to hell.
And to think… Oprah didn’t even reveal to the masses “This is a paid political announcement by the Democratic Party”.
That almost seems illegal.
I also have never gotten the fascination with Oprah. She is just another talking head on tv for bored people that don’t work during the day.
My Mom adores Oprah, I remember spending hours on her rotary dial phone trying to get tickets to her show.
My mom is also an unhinged Lib, Californian so that tracks.
That is an extremely redundant sentence.
Becoming even more so as so many of us conservatives are/have left the state.
“nearly flawless” minus the fact that she lost both the electoral college by a LANDSLIDE and also the popular vote…
so…i don’t know if i would call that nearly flawless…
but i’m just a racist, bigot, sexist peon who voted for trump
There was a lot of people that voted for Biden last time that did not vote for her. That tells you how “flawless” she is.
There were 18M people who voted for Biden last time that didn’t even exist…
There is that too.
Heard something on the radio this weekend that the dems are broke now so people are trying to convince the Republicans to be nice and hand over some of their cash.
Trump already said he would do it.
Said his campaign had ‘lots of money left’.
#trolling

They’re like $20M in debt, and Trump reportedly trolled them by offering to help them out financially.
Well under Bidenomics a buck just doesn’t. go as far as it used to.
Indeed… the Democrats clearly do not understand this effect though.
After listening to the woke blame each other all weekend, and it was glorious. I have come up with a blame pie that I think it decent, and delicious.

Pretyy good SoCal. Have to say you nailed it.
I love the line up top….
The Mrs. NoDak found that extremely funny this morning….she rightly analyzed Sam’s performance as “awful”, she doesn’t swear, leaves that to me.
He’ll get his share before the season is over. Have faith.
I am not giving up on him…I do believe we have enough talent to have a shot at the OWL….we went toe to toe with Detroit and lost in a nail biter…We just need to avoid further injuries.
They’ll have to play good enough against the Lions though to make it too big to rig, just like the election.
^^This^^
Don’t know if this team is good enough to beat the Kitties AND the refs at Detroit. Guess it’ll come down to that game if we can keep up with them until then.
Almost not worth taking time off. Was off last week and come back to 54 diagnostic results to address. How does one eat a camel? One bite at a time.
If Lawrence plays yesterday do the Jags win?
Thank you and God Bless all the vets on Skoloholics and everywhere.
Those durn radiologists…”please clinically correlate…worrisome for neoplasm…cannot exclude herpegonosyphiliticus…”
Not all the way through them yet but did have one of the above on MRI of brain, “can not exclude NPH, if clinical concern consider spinal tap”.
See where the enlightened students of Columbia U are celebrating “Anti Veteran’s Day” in honor of all the martyr’s being killed in the middle east by the “Us War Machine.”
Words would not do justice as to what I would like to say to them.
Sickening
How about
“All you ignorant, entitled, spoiled, ungrateful, f@$king snow flakes should all pick up and move to Iran”
No, you are right, words cannot do justice.
And FJB is trying to get us to pay for all of their educations.
Trade them all for some hard working, legal aliens.
That’s not education – ‘indoctrination’ maybe.
BREAKING: Arizona Announces They Have Counted Another Ballot | Babylon Bee
I mean, serioiusly…..
Thank you to all the veterans that visit this site and all the other veterans out there. My grandpa fought in WW2, my dad in Vietnam, and my brother in desert storm. They were all fortunate to make it out alive unlike many others that did not.
Many thanks to your family for their service!
every time darnold throws a pick…
IF the Vikings put a great team around him, he will do well. If they don’t, he will be an average to slightly above average QB. In a word, he is Trevor Lawrence.
He’s better than Lawrence. The NFL is against the Vikings this year because they know the dominance is coming at a level that not even they can stop. The Vikings will be winning biggly.
Bow… really… you are enamored with McCarthy, we get it. He’s not a great QB. He will be good. That’s all.
It’ll be fun telling you I told you so.
I’m right, but I have enough class not to say “I told you so”. You will see. He’s going to have some good games, he’ll have some great games, and he’ll have some really bad games. Overall, he’ll be an average to slightly above average QB for his career.
‘I have enough class not to say “I told you so”’
Me too but that doesn’t stop me from thinking really loud in my head.
It depends on the person I’m talking to. If it’s a friend, I have no problem saying the above phrase.
Why is he a better prospect than Lawrence was coming out of college? Just asking.
He’s not. I’m just saying that he’s going to be better. Lawrence has looked pretty pedestrian and has become a turnover machine.
That is certainly true about Lawrence. Now, JJ hasn’t taken a snap yet, so will wait and see. He certainly has the enviroment around his to do well.
your optimism makes me laugh and i LOVE it
They will make him the face of the NFL to attract the young female demographic. The ladies love him. He’ll be a bigger draw than Swift.
LOL
I think the vikes already have a good, not great though, team around him. A couple more pieces and hopefully we can keep B-flo around.
A question as I don’t pay much attention to college QB’s. But as I recall Trevor was considered quite the stud out of college. Was JJ considered at that level?
Trevor Lawrence was considered Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning level generational talent. JJ McCarthy was assumed to be successful because of Harbaugh and the team around him (notice how bad they are now and the fact that his teammates that were drafted have made zero impact in the NFL though?)
JJ wasn’t the number one draft pick so, you can read whatever you want into that.
I think predicting what college prospect QB’s will do as pros is a complete crap shoot.
Right now Bo Nix looks a hell of a lot better than Caleb Williams.
You may, or may not remember I said I liked Bo Nix best out of all the QB’s in the draft this year. I watched some games where he showed me the traits I want to see in a QB, more than the others. Caleb is a lot like Wentz IMO, with a little better arm talent. He’s a big strong athlete. He has a long way to go before he’s really pro caliber though. Nix already shows he’s actually working through the defensive looks. He’s still learning of course, but he’s ahead of all the others IMO.
That’s why I listen to you – never too old to learn.
I also liked Daniels and Nix better than the rest.
Time will tell.
I do think JJ will be at least above average, and could be very good. Throwing to the WRs on this team should help.
Daniels far and away is the best athlete of the bunch, and if he develops, will be a true force (beyond what he already is) in the NFL. The Redskins need to keep his O-line up to date, and his receiving corps as well. Got to have protection, and open guys to throw to.
Only to hyper-sensitive, guilt-ridden, white people who have significant mental issues.
Thank you to my grandpa, who fought in WW1 and to my dad who volunteered to go to Korea.
And to all who also served.
Just heard Peter, Paul, & Mary’s “Where have all the flowers gone”, still sends a chill through me (even if it is kinda an anti-war song). At least it didn’t villainize those who served.
On this day, I would like to honor my dad and uncles who served our country. As a young man, my dad joined (1942), not because he needed a job or was looking for a government pension and health benefits, but because he wanted to fight for the freedom of his country. He wanted to be a paratrooper, but instead became a pilot in the Army Air Force and helped re-train pilots that were shot down during the war. That was a difficult job at times because some of those guys were suffering from PSTD (it was not recognized at that time) and when he tried to turn over the controls to them, they refused. Being a veteran of foreign wars had lifetime effects on many, if not all.
thank for your sharing that story/history of your dad and his experience.
we are blessed to have had so many selfless men and women go before us to fight for our freedoms.
Thank you VP. My father was a navigator on a B-17, and was shot down over France. He escaped back to England via the French underground, and flew many more missions after that.
Nice story. Interestingly my Dad flew a B24 during WWII and was also part of the Army Air Force. When he died he had a model of his plane hanging from the ceiling in his bedroom right over his bed.
It seemed that entire generation rushed to sign up to serve and defend their country.
The other day when all these kids at college were crying over the election, I wondered what he and his buddies would have thought.
Lol

thank you to all the veterans
It was good to see Hock impacting the game yesterday.
President-elect Donald Trump announced Tom Homan, his former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement director, will serve as “border czar” in his second administration.
“I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (‘The Border Czar’), including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security,” Trump said on Truth Social.
Great choice. We’ll finally have a “Czar” who actually supports border security, and deporting illegal aliens in the country. You know, pretty much everything Kamala isn’t.
Exactly….when asked how he will handle the leftist criticism that is bound to come his way regarding breaking up families, deporting hardworking illegal immigrants ect…His response was “I really don’t care what people think of me, I am going to do my job” Perfect.
Some of the clips of his previous interviews are awesome. Put AOC in her place and in an interview with NBC or some other MSM person, when asked if there is a way to deport people and not break up families, he dead faced said, yup just deport the whole family.
Just an awesome response.
Yup, give the family the choice to go with them.
Then if they decide to stay then they are ‘breaking the family up’ not us.
listen….i completely trust darnold and think he has what it takes to get us to the promised land, he has mental fortitude, pocket awareness like no one else, strength, grit, determination…
ok i can’t do this….the guy sucks
Darnold has talent. He doesn’t suck. He makes mistakes sometimes for sure, but every QB does. All QB’s have bad games. Brady is considered the GOAT, but all those years in New England, he had a top five defense, and a top five O-line almost every year. That defense won a lot of games for him, as did his kicker. So, even the GOAT needed immense help from his team to win games.
brady didn’t even throw an interception once, ever, so….your point it moot.
Laughing
i’m not me if i don’t overreact…
you gotta take the good with the bad, my friend
‘Moot’? Almost got it right.
I love 7-2, but I don’t love Sam’s bad decision making in the other team’s territory right now.
Goff threw 5 interceptions yesterday. It’s OK. Shit happens.
Indeed. But I don’t want it to happen.
Goff played poorly last night and I’m sure some Lions’ fans are ripping him a new one right now. It is ok to be upset with poor qb play. Sam has been playing sub-par for several games in a row. He needs to get his head screwed back on correctly.
Darnold has 6 turnovers the last two games, it’s who he is.
It’s KOC’s fault. Sam went down hill after it was reported they discussed “the elephant in the room” about next year. Sam realizes that he won’t be the QB next year in Minny and is overthinking and pressing for his next job. That or he just mentally collapsed.
did they seriously have a talk like that?
unless darnold brought it up or asked for a meeting about it, that is REALLY dumb.
Yeah. Not sure who initiated it but KOC talked about it a couple weeks ago.
I think he basically said that he told Sam not to worry about it, keep playing good and they’d figure it out at the end of the year.
Your first and this comment on this are a bit confusing to me. Saying don’t worry about next year is solid, but implying in any way you won’t be here is not very bright – in my opinion.
KOC didn’t say he would or wouldn’t be the QB next year, but I think Sam sees the writing on the wall. Saying that talk in any way is responsible was mostly a joke. I think this is just who Darnold is. He struggles with the mental side. He has plenty of physical talent and can make some great throws, but he’s currently getting to locked in on JJets. It would be more understandable if he didn’t have other really good options. The ghosts have never left Sam.
Well I would think if Sam gets back to playing like he did early, and we go deep into the playoffs, he has a solid chance to be here next year.
He does.
I’m surprised Jones didn’t get a game ball. Guy reminds me of AD, doesn’t shy away from contact in the secondary.
Always falling forward and twisting for more yards…
I was skeptical when we picked him up, but he has plenty of gas left in the tank.
Too much worry about Sam. All QB’s have their ups and downs.
Goff throws FIVE interceptions Lions win. Love has two or three bonehead plays a game, Packers keep rolling.
We’ll keep rolling too and be fine.
This is correct. Patrick Mahomes has thrown 12 TD’s and 9 interceptions so far this season. He is playing very pedestrian football. The Chiefs are 9-0 by the hair of their chinny chin chin, as it were, and their 4th ranked defense is carrying the day for them.
Sam has played well all season – last game was rough, but we still won. If he plays poorly this week and we win again – great. Save his best games for the Packers and Lions coming up.
The season is 17 pass/fail tests. Style points don’t matter, as you point out.
The difference with Mahomes is that he has like 15 teammates on the field with him at a time.
This is true, and it is starting to appear that Goff has the same.
Thank you Mjolnir, celebrating Veterans Day!
So many to remember and be thankful for! As a country, we need to actually do more for our veterans. You for sure know.
Indeed JR. You have served too… and we know that military life isn’t easy. I thank God for all the brave souls who have served this country, and protected all we hold dear.
I watch all these TtoT and Wounded Warrior ads and wonder why can’t our country do more. the government seems to have more than enough money to throw away on many wasteful projects, but never enough for the vets.
It really is a crying shame. Yet, today, all the politicians will be out there proclaiming their love for the Veterans.
Politicians are all show, and no go. Of course they will be out there promoting themselves and recognizing the Vets.
God Bless all our veterans.
I hope my wife would help me if I needed it.
THAT man garnered 81 million votes and is the president of the united states of america…
Yeah… grotesque miscarriage of our electoral system. The Dem’s stole the 2020 election, and pushed this man into the Presidency. Infuriating.
he made america a wimp and was walked all over…
can’t wait for trump to get in there and get the ship right again.
Gotta be elder abuse.
FJB!
That is one elder that deserves all the abuse he gets.
Hopefully my wife would just toss me in that dumpster.
Addison and Nailor, I barely know her, need to step up. If Jetts is going to get double and triple teamed all game they need to be getting open and catching the balls thrown to them. Hock did good, but he is not usually covered by a D-back, so he is not going to help get Jetts open.
P.S. and Sam needs to throw the ball to guys in Vikings jerseys.
Must have been some ghosts out there.
Wasn’t the ghost game the last time the Darnold faced Mac Jones?
It’s either that too many passing plays are long-developing, or Sam just doesn’t process everything quick enough.
I find it hard to believe that every other team can scheme guys wide open but the Vikings struggle to do so. If it’s true though, then KOC needs to redesign or mix in some shorter, slant-heavy plays.
but KOC is an elite offensive mind……………………………………………………………..
It is/was weird that it seems that if 18 is the #1 option on a play, Sam can’t see any other players. JJ should have caught the deflection on the first pick-to me he was pretty badly interfered with, but the other two he was double teamed so there HAD to be someone standing somewhere say HEY-HEY-HEY I’M OPEN!!!!!!
I think it’s the anticipatory aspect of QB play that Sam struggles with. He can’t anticipate a WR about to be open or a defender about to jump in the passing lane.
Yeah, 18 gets doubled all the time so you’d think that a guy like Addison would be open quite a bit.
DE is buying today. Vikings hit the 6.5 over!
And the rich get richer.
I figured the Lions were dead and buried when I went to bed last night. Turns out they won. I will have to watch highlights and see what happened.
Bright spot of yesterday’s game: we probably don’t have to worry about paying Darnold anymore.
Mark Sanchez is a quietly good commentator. Very low key, doesn’t put himself above the game and he offers some analysis that I don’t hear from other former players.
Kudos, Mr. Butt Fumble. I hope he gets more of our games.
I agree, I think the announcers were the best we have had all year.
Sanchez is good.
He does a regular segment with Colin Cowherd, I think on Tuesdays, and he is interesting to listen to.
Texans turtled and Stroud blew it with bad INTs.
This is the answer.
I agree about Sanchez, he does a good job
I like Sanchez also, great commentator. I was dozing off but I believe the Texans scored all their points in the first half only.
Correct.
Darnold has proven he is a decent backup. Better than Mullens, but he will not be a starter next year. Could be good for the Vikings, as I would be fine with him vs Mullens backing up JJ next season.
This is exactly why I was sad when JJ got injured. Team could turn to him now and see what happens. Instead we get Sam. Season has been fun, but no way is this team making a deep playoff run unless Sam plays much better.
Also, detroit got a nice assist by the refs last night. I think the NFL wants Detroit to play the Swifties in the bowl.
@Kirk still sucks@
Will need to watch the highlights as I couldn’t watch the game, looks like the Kitties are the league’s favorite team in the NFC this year. Maybe they’ll win one before we do. Can’t help that, unfortunately, if the NFL has decided to hype the Kitties.
If Lions make the Super Bowl, then Vikings will be the only NFC team going back to 1990 to not make the Super Bowl.
Ouch. Lot of season left, of course, many games still to be played, but as of now the Lions indeed look like they could make it to the big game. Vikes not so much considering how Darnold has played the last 2 games.
Saints win one before us and now maybe Detroit. That would suck!
I saw there was a pretty egregious non PI call that would have basically ended the game for the Texans.
Yes there was.
Ah OK, so the Texans got the Vikings treatment from the refs. Kitties must be the chosen team in the NFC this season with all the calls and/or non calls they are getting.
Mahomes was caught on a hot mic yesterday reminding the ref that he needs to tell him when there’s a player close to him.
LOL, great. Favoritism IS a thing in the NFL.
