Vikings hump day discussion

Happy Hump Day, everyone, and welcome to Skoloholics, your home for Minnesota Vikings Discussion! Every day you can join us for the latest Minnesota Vikings news, lots of Minnesota Vikings talk, also NFL news and updates, and most anything else you may have on your mind. At Skoloholics, the real action is in the comments, so if you haven’t checked out the comments section yet, sign up and join the conversation.

I do not have any fun things to report about meeting someone famous. I have this week off work, so I have been reading, watching some movies that the Mrs. would hate, and got all the Christmas decorations up. I also have the smoker prepped for the Turkey Breasts for tomorrow.

Plenty to be thankful for if you are a Vikings fan. 9-2 is pretty nice, even if they only have dominated 1 game so far. Also thankful the election crap is over, so now I get to see all the ads for medications instead of political ads. @Got that going for me@

NFL/Vikings news

No Daniel Jones signing yet. I still think he would be better than Mullens moving forward, but my wife also reminds me I know nothing. She also reminds me that the Vikings should have taken Bo Nix. I will hear that for a long time, until JJ proves he is better.

Media selection – I just really like this song

Thread Guidelines

  • Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

Our GM is a genius. We now have three top 10 drafted QB’s on the team. Don’t think any other team has had that.

Well one is out for the year and one is newly signed and won’t report until after the holiday, so we only have one at the moment.

In six or 8 weeks if Danny is all read in of the Offense and if Sam is struggling it might be a issue. But that is a problem for a latter date.

Just got done raking leaves. Hopefully the final time for the year.

I like the low end cost of signing Jones. I think he sucks, but you never know.

Favorite foods on thanksgiving:

  1. homemade Mac & cheese. My recipe.
  2. Turkey and gravy.

Honorable mentions would be apple pie, mashed potatoes, stuffing.

I hope the Loins and Pukers get spanked tomorrow.

Vikings signed former 1st round pick off the FTP practice squad to be the back up to Pace’s old back up Grugier-Hill.

‘Davis will likely split time with Vikings linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill, who filled in for Pace’s responsibilities on defense against the Bears.’

Stopped by to check out the reaction to the Daniel Jones signing. I get why the Vikings signed him. On his end, guess he liked the way Darnold improved. Personally, I’m going to take it as an indication that the Vikings have no intention of giving Darnold big money, which makes me happy.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

If he stays on the practice squad, they will only pay him about 100k. Then they’ll have in house insurance when Sam moves on for big bucks and they will get first chance to try to sign him to a new deal to be JJ’s backup next year. Worst case Jones gets a decent contract somewhere to compete to start and the Vikings get another plus in the comp pick equation.

Yeah, typically they don’t because the other team has to put them on their active roster which means a nice pay raise. I don’t think a couple thousand dollars one way or the other is going to be much of a factor to Danny Dimes.

Yep. They must have read my take on this yesterday. Most likely on the PS initially to learn the offense and see if he can beat out Mullens. Worst case they have a good 3rd option should something happen to Sam. I’m sure Jones wanted to learn from KOC after what he’s done with Sam.

1st he can learn the offense, program.
Maybe next week he can be the #3 emergency QB.
Then in a couple weeks see if he is an improvement over Mullins (100% completion rate).
At the end of the year we can see if he wants to stay and be JJ Mac’s backup or not.
No downside as he is getting almost all his pay from the Giants ($12M).

Yep. I think the Vikings are only paying him a little over 300k for the remainder of the year and then they will have the first chance to negotiate with him if they want to bring him back next year. If he leaves for a chance to compete to start somewhere, he’ll get a big enough contract to affect the compensatory picks.

I love to contrast Thanksgiving memories at my folks place (Canadian style) and memories with my wife (American style). The former was very staid, little conversation, might have one aunt, uncle or grandparents over. The latter was bedlam, at least 50 people in attendance, seven conversations taking place at once, football on in the living room with the men sneaking in to grab food and head back out to watch football.

Gonna be a bit quieter this year. Stepson and two grandkids might be coming, and possibly their dad/granddad (wife’s ex). Stepdaughter and fam are definitely not coming, wife had a convo this morning with her on speaker and my analogy would be witnessing the reactor lid coming off Chernobyl #4 and releasing clouds of highly radioactive particulates into the atmosphere.

Lefse?
Isn’t that potato tortillas?
I tried it once when visiting the in-laws in ND.
Once was enough.

That is how I remember most of the in-laws eating it.
Reminded me of some neighbors that fed their kids butter and sugar sandwiches.
Gag!

Stuffing and mashed potatoes. Those are the vessels that the Turkey (meh) rides on.

I’ll let you know after tomorrow. For now I would say stuffing and mashed potatoes and gravy, with the cranberry sauce on top.

I am cooking my first Thanksgiving day meal. I have smoked a turkey before, which was good. But this year, I am frying a Cajun turkey and I cured and will be smoking a ham.

!!!!!Weekly Pick ‘Em League Reminder!!!!!

Get your picks in for Pick ‘Em League before you are in a stupefying food coma this Thanksgiving!

I haven’t been able to write up a summary of last week yet. I’ve been busy as a really busy person during a particularly busy time of the year within the framework of general busyness. Maybe I can whip something up later today.

Regardless, get yer picks in! I am going to do mine right now…

Would help us a lot if dabears find a way to beat the Lions, but I’m afraid the Kitties will find a way to win (with a little help from the refs, if necessary). Don’t want to influence your pick, just my 2 cents considering how the season has been going so far.

This has to be the Lions year unless they get bit by injuries. There seems to be no one in the NFC who can challenge them at this point.

I’m already shuddering at the thought of the 20-yard passes they are going to drop on us when we play them again.

I’m hoping for when we play them next, the game won’t matter to them and they don’t start their starters. i know that’s not the way campbell does things, but i think if they are legit super bowl contenders, he will rest his guys

They’re no going to be able to rest anybody because the Vikings are going to win until then and they will drop at least one so they will go into that game tied and it will be for the division.

And that would make for a great big time game.
