The Minnesota Vikings are now 10-2. Back in August, if someone would’ve told us that the Vikings would be 10-2 after week 13, we’d have all been ecstatic, and many of us would’ve been in shock. I remind myself of this when I find myself being dismayed with a win.
Vikings vs. Cardinals
The Vikings had to come from behind, but they did just that, and pulled off the comeback victory over the Cardinals yesterday. Final score was 23-22. The Vikings did not have a lead in the game until there was 1:13 remaining in the game. That’s when Aaron Jones caught the go-ahead TD.
The Vikings offense started off slowly. Aaron Jones fumbled on the first drive, then fumbled again (should’ve been an incomplete pass). Sam Darnold looked lost for much of the game, and the Cardinals defense harassed him the entire day. The defense allowed the Cardinals to move the ball, but they did a good job of mitigating damage, and they came up with some big stops to force field goal attempts instead of allowing touchdowns, which kept this game within reach. The defense also came up HUGE after the Vikings finally took the lead, and a Shaquille Griffin interception on 4th and 10 sealed the win for the Vikings.
Summary
In the end, the Vikings beat a division leader for their fifth straight victory. They are now 10-2 and only a game behind the Lions for the top spot in the NFC North (and the top spot in the NFC). This has been a fun year, the Vikings keep finding ways to win games, and KOC continues to grow as a play caller and as a head coach. The Vikings have a ton of playmakers, and an emerging defense that looks to be on the brink of greatness. It seems like the team, and the organization as a whole, are trending in the right direction. It really seems like they’re building a team that can be a consistent competitor. For now, let’s enjoy the season and see how far they can roll with Sam Darnold. SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!
The Rest of the NFL
Wow, the NFC West might be the most mediocre division in recent memory. If teams could still go .500 without a tie, it would be reasonable to expect all four teams to finish .500 this year. The NFC South is not even mediocre, all four teams are poor to meh. The two division winners from the South & West will probably be the two worst teams in the NFC playoffs. The North will provide two wild card teams, and the Washington Football Players will be the other wild card team.

Not only is McCaffrey lost for the season but his back up has a high ankle sprain and will miss ‘at least 4 games or more’.
I suspect the 49ers are toast for the season.

300 comments on a regular weekday, that hasn’t happened in awhile.
Regular meaning no draft or other special event going on.
Kirk is coming to town, that may be special
It might be for some people, those with KDS and his supporters.
Don’t think that explains 300+ comments though as multiple topic were discussed.
Kirk Defenses Syndrome falls in line with is supporters. There’s only sane and those with Kirk Defense Syndrome
Did you guys know with a little help, the Vikings can officially clinch a playoff spot this weekend?
Awesome.
I love this.
Eff him, and the Broncos coach, and anyone else that does this.
Good news for the good guys.
Hope Will the 3rd leg Thrill is feeling like himself. I think he will be a top 3-5 kicker in the league when healthy. But also, good on JPR for filling in, Iv been more than pleased with his kicking so far. The one extra missed point in Nashville was a nothing burger, the missed FG yesterday could have been big but ultimately wasn’t and he single handedly won the Jags game.
We get Will the Thrill and Kirill the Thrill? Doesn’t even seem fair.
So do we keep Romo through the season somehow, then be able to trade him? He has proven he belongs in the NFL
Do you dare take up a roster spot with another kicker? If he goes practice squad someone else will surely grab him after they’ve seen how he kicks.
I don’t know how you can. The roster spots are going to be too important for the playoffs. If they can, great. I also don’t know about his contract but would guess it’s only for the year which means at best you’re going to get a 6th or 7th value in the comp pick equation and that’s probably not worth an extra o-lineman on the roster. One of the crappy deals where you gotta tell the guy, “you did great, we love you but we just can’t keep ya.”
All good points. The only way I see it is you put him on the practice squad. Then, if he is poached, the other team has to move him to their 53 man roaster for 3 weeks. Could they IR him, maybe get Ingram to step on his kicking foot
Isn’t it kind of cold out to have the windows open?
What the folks at Falcoholic think and why there’s no need to doom this week for the Vikes. Their fans are waking up to what we endured for half a decade.
“May God help us all.”

Yeah that got a good chuckle out of me me too.
At least Kirk is good at improvising and moving in the pocket when his pre-snap read is wrong.
I thought there might be a couple people here that liked this one.
i don’t think there is a single vikings fan that would take Kirk over Sam Darnold right now.
Perhaps before the season started.
but at this very point, there isn’t a single mentally stable vikings fan (oxymoron right there) that would ever take kirk over darnold
There’s two or three in here right now actually…
Well, he said “mentally stable”
(I’m kidding guys, I love you all but, well, .500 king is showing to be .500 king. I was told a couple of months ago that Kirk made the Falcons a real threat for the SB.)
I was also told there will be tears in beers come 12/8.
The Vikings being the Vikings, they could very well lose the game, but one of the two teams going into that game is a real playoff team and not just fighting for a .500 division win (like I predicted and was rebuked).
Agreed. Some time shit hits the fan but I have no fears or feelings of impending doom. This team is winning the right way and in a sustainable repeatable manner. Unlike the past 6 seasons. Theres data to back up the eye test instead of dumb luck.
What a truly breath taking comment. Sam has played about 10 times better than. he has ever played in his life and Cousins is going through a strech of the worst football of his career, and someone suggest I’d take Sam over Kirk at this point.
Figured that they needed to move on from KC due to $$.
That 2024 would be a rebuild year while the absorbed the cap hit and JJ got the rookie worked out of him.
Could we strike gold in 2024? Sure, likely? No.
Never did I expect that we would strike it with Sam.
Happy to be wrong.
imagine how good this team could be RIGHT NOW if he could actually draft well!
I’m still holding out hope. The drafts have seemed to improve every year as he gets the right people around him and gets his feet wet. The problem next year is the lack of draft capital but they can make up for it with cap space and he’s been better at free agent and trade acquisitions anyway.
I’d be curious if Flores was clamoring for Turner or if Kwesi just had a hardon for him and went after him
I would be surprised if Flores didn’t want him. I think Greenard and Van Ginkle have just played too good to put a rookie on the field over them and Turner is still learning the defense. When he’s been out there he’s flashed. I think he’ll be good and the Vikings will bring back one of Van Ginkle and Greenard and Turner will be starting next year.
When they signed those two, there is no way they could have thought they had a chance to get Turner as well considering he was a projected top 7 pick and they were obviously going after JJ.
Well thought,
And once they were in position to get him they figured he was worth it, maybe not for this year (given Van Ginkel and Greenard) but for many years in the future.
Yep and you get the opportunity to really train the kid. KOC has stated multiple times how big he is on proper QB development and how it is lacking in the NFL. Why wouldn’t you think he feels the same about other players?
For the amount of money, i think it will be Van Ginkle, Greenard will have a 22mill cap hit next year vs Van Ginkles 12.4
Seems to have an overthinking problem at times, but when he let’s it rip and just plays he has some pretty impressive arm talent (but I still can’t wait for McCarthyism to take over).
Kirk hasn’t thrown a TD in three games, and has racked up an impressive number of INTs and fumbles.
Am I the only one that knows, just KNOWS, that the Vikings will flip that script on Sunday?
Booo trash take. Vikes make Kwerk look like who he is, a spaz. Harrison Smith gets a sack and a pick. Book it. Change that attitude MT
Yeah just like you shamed me for thinking the Cards had a chance against us…400+ yards offense MT….Cards only put up 6 against Seachickens MT…you ain’t fooling me, you were shitting your pants just like me in the second half.
We all know Kirko Chainz periodically makes an appearance…or Penix will come in and ball out…or Darnold throws a pick at the worst possible time…or Jones coughs up a fumble.
Vikings inability to step on the throat of their lesser opponents concerns me. Atlanta is going to show up for this game.
Not going to happen. Atlanta is a weak team and after watching clips of Cousins throws yesterday, he has to be injured. He has his short comings but throwing the ball is not one of them. Right now, for whatever reason, he simply can’t throw well.
I don’t think old man time has let that achilles heal up properly. He doesn’t seem to have the same velocity from what little I’ve seen.
Probably, and a shoulder injury three weeks ago against Saints. Regardless, his out throws now look like Jimmy G rainbows.
400 yards of offense and only 22 pts scored. And one of the TDs was only possible because of a BS PI call. All I care about is points scored, could care less about yards. Seahawks are no push over either, should have beaten Detroit. Context. And yes I was, it was a close came and we needed a TD to win, any fan would. And stop calling him that, his name is Kirk Ball and Chain, and nothing else. Cringy ass name. All those things happened and the Vikes still over come it, which is something last teams did not do. This isnt 2022 with a horse shoe up our ass, we are winning they way the good teams do. And you must have forgotten the first 5 weeks of the season I guess. Vikes were in control in every one of those games. Turn overs be damned.
You just haven’t had your heart ripped out as many times as MT. Let him be nervous. He’s not the only nervous one.
I’m sure he will be better.
But he looks bad.
i mean it’s more than likely, our pass defense is BRUTAL and that’s not me being negative. It just…IS.
I don’t think Kirk has it in him at this stage. He is slow of mind and foot. Stadium will be loud, and he is going to have to process fast.
Plus, we really only have to cover his check down receiver…
TE. Stop Bijan and cover TE. Hit him hard and early, and GG ez.
Julie has incentivized him by saying that if he plays well they can splurge and buy juicy lucys for the fam at the 5-8 club after the game. He’ll be very motivated.
Admittedly, that is a variable that must be accounted for…
She promised him grilling lessons.
And a Kohl’s gift card.
Also Pizza Ranch
Do they have Pizza Ranch in the ATL?
No we won’t.
#nojinx
We have a lengthy history of doing such things.
@On 4th and 7 I knew we were good, I didn’t do anything silly like get on my knees with eyes fixated on the screen@
The announcer stating that the Cards should have gone for it on 4th down rather than kick the FG late was preternatural. Guy has PMS or ESP or something.
Murray staying in bounds was a thing of beauty. Followed by intentional grounding. Man we got lucky in this game. Come playoffs we won’t be that lucky…can we have more of the playcalling we had in the 4th quarter and less of the playcalling the first three quarters?
Amen.
Less shooting of our own feet would be nice as well.
I would like to see us play a whole game like it is the 4th quarter and we are down by 10.
Busy day.
I changed my son’s car battery.
It took all of 20 minutes, and I’m not that mechanically inclined.
Not sure what’s wrong with Freezey.
Kirko week all week.
Hopefully he continues to be crappy.
I haven’t heard anything on Gilmore and Greenard leaving the game yesterday. Greenard was towards the last drive where we stopped the Cards. I couldn’t tell if he was shaking his head due to pain or if he just got his bell rung.
I thought Moreau did a good job of filling in for Gilmore at the end. He seemed to be right on top of the receiver and not a step and a half behind him.
I think Greenard came back in after the Vikings called the TO. I think he was gassed.
yeah, i think greenard was just sucking wind. He was playing REALLY hard. and he had chased down Murray and then just was done.
in fact, the td that was caught on him, he actually had his hand on the ball and almost knocked it out of his hands. can’t fault a great catch
KOC said in his postgame presser that Gilmore ‘got a left hammy’ and was thinking of coming back in but didn’t so he would not get a longer term injury. He also mention that Pat Jones had a knee issue but was able to return to the game.
Those were the only two he mentioned in his ‘Injury Update’ that he started his presser with.
A thought/question on the NFC playoff picture.
Pretty confident us, Lions, Packers, and Eagles will be four top dogs. Not sure who will win division and who’s wild cards.
But suppose we make it to NFC Championship Game. Which team would you least like to face?
Packers, because i hate when they get THAT close to the bowl
Me too – Packers – because they would be the toughest for us to beat (I believe).
Eagles. I would hate to face them. Great RB, mobile QB (More mobile than the other two) and a very solid defense.
We did that in 2017. I do not want a repeat.
Fair points, but that would have been my number three. If for no other reason, the Eagles HC makes the other two look like Lombardi.
I wouldn’t want to play the Eagles. They will run Barkley down our throats and then Tush Push whenever close on third down, and again on fourth down if necessary, and we won’t be able to do anything about it.
I don’t know. Hurts is the poorest passer of the three. Think Flo will pack box and make Hurts throw to beat us.
On offense, KOC and our receivers have had great success against Fagio’s two deep zone.
That said, we are probably the least physical of the four teams.
The other wrinkle is homefield advantage, so I am curious how that shakes out.
If we get the games at home, that makes a solid difference.
Assuming we are away I think both the Lions and Eagles will curb stomp us. For that matter I don’t like our chances if we are away at Lambeau in January.
No one will curb stomp us.
Eagles. Because I’m still traumatized from that one loss in that one game. That was OUR year, dammit…
Also, FTP and FT* (another Vikings induced trauma)
Eagles HC will screw it up.
AT did the Gritty after his late TD tied the game Sunday.
He ended up with 99 yards, the same as Jets.
Carolina lost in OT though.
https://thevikingage.com/minnesota-vikings-adam-thielen-honors-justin-jefferson-carolina-panthers-touchdown
I for sure over did the whiskey during the game….I knew we won, but the rest was a bit fuzzy…I had to go back and watch highlights to refresh my memory…definitely cutting back next time.
Reminds me of the 2015 Giants Vikings game. Tailgated for 7 hours, then went to the game (outdoors at TCF). LOTS of bourbon & beer, started at 10 or 11 am, game was at 7:30 pm. 25 below zero wind chill, my memory of that day is cloudy. I remember the Vikings beat the hell out of the Giants.
I recall that the end of my last beer or two turned to slush before I could finish them.
Drinking $12 Grain Belts at the stadium, but by that point, I was so drunk that they could’ve fed me horse piss and I wouldn’t have known the difference.
I like to drink some, but I don’t like it when I get drunk. I am disappointed in myself for overdoing it.
I don’t have an off switch when it comes to drinking, that’s why I had to quit.
Probably a good idea….I do have an off switch, I just utilized it too late.
They forgot to install one of those switches on me.
My broken off switch is food related. I need to not have sugary foods in my house, or they get eaten.
Used to weigh 50 pounds more than I do today. Quitting Sugary foods and high carb processed foods was harder for me than Nicotine (use to chew, long ago) or booze (I quit for 10 years, while trying to be a better parent. All the good beers missed…..)
That would have been a fun game to be at. Rudolph TD and a Smith Pick 6. I watched that on at home with my Dad.
I got drunk with Cane & a bunch of other brahs that day.
I took a friend of mine to the game, he’d never been to one before. He’s a cattle buyer and doesn’t get off the farm much, watching him try to function in Minneapolis was an absolute blast. We ran into some really good weed downtown the night before the game, it was a fun weekend.
Love it. Way to live it up.
I wouldn’t think any weeds would be growing in the middle of winter.
They’re so uncommon that fellas keep them in little bags and then sell them.
I’ve noticed there is an inverse correlation between the most loyal patrons of Glendive’s many dispensaries and the quality of their ride. The parking lots look like junkyards.
I’m so judgy.
I would argue with you, but I drive a Kia…..
When we went to the Seahawks Vikings 4 below playoff game I remember that as well…if you bought a beer you had to drink it quickly or it would freeze. It was too cold for drinking.
Keep it inside your coat.
but it’ll get warm
Yeah, I think that game was actually colder than the Giants game.
Nice Christmas Present FJB gave his douche-bad son huh?
https://www.foxnews.com/media/six-times-karine-jean-pierre-said-president-biden-wouldnt-pardon-his-son-hunter
And it’s a blanket pardon for any and all crimes he may or may not have committed from 2014-2024. He’s covering for himself and hiding their illegal deals in Ukraine and God only knows where else.
Yup.
The Biden Crime Family is covering all the bases.
And their asses of course.
I’m guessing there will be more pre-emptive pardons coming for himself and his brother.
Doesn’t this mess up Hunter’s option to plead the fifth? If he’s been pardoned, testifying against himself would not subject him to punishment.
Possibly. What’s he going to be called to testify about though? Nobody is going to go after Joe with this and his dementia and why would anybody go after Hunter if they know they can’t charge him with anything?
What about FJBs brother and other family members that got paid?
It sure does. If he is called to testify against Uncle or Big Joe, he cannot plead fifth as he’s immune. The Biden crime family is still hanging out.
Joe’s still in office. There’s time, don’t worry.
Will he pardon himself? $10 million dollars went somewhere.
He doesn’t have to. He won’t be charged with anything. Remember the classified documents case against Biden? The special prosecutor (Robert Hur) declined to prosecute because “Biden’s age and presentation would make it more difficult to convince a jury beyond a reasonable doubt that the 81-year-old was guilty of willfully committing a crime.”
The problem with that position though is this. When it comes to the mishandling of classified information “unwillful” disclosure is not a defense. It doesn’t matter if one willfully, or unwillfully divulges State secrets, or fails to protect them. If you’ve ever had a security clearance, that fact is drummed into your head relentlessly, and when you sign for your clearance, that verbiage is very prominent in the statement you sign.
That only applies to the plebes and those that aren’t part of the deep state.
Absolutely true.
I simply think he doesn’t have to as Trump – who is a bigger and better man than Biden – will tell his Attorney General to not pursue it.
Part of me thinks his cognitive collapse is a complete façade.
What better way to avoid being prosecuted after you leave office? Convince him you’re out of your mind, they won’t even bother.
He still has 29 more days to commit more crimes.
Biden claims that he was going through with the pardon after he continued to watch his son being “selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.”
“I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice — and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision,” Biden said.
Raw politics???? You mean like when you raided Trump’s home with agents dressed in tactical gear to locate the evidence he had against your son? Yeah… Americans can plainly see where raw politics figured in this Joe.
Trump was impeached for wanting to investigate the crimes that Joe just pardoned his son for.
This is true.
Most everyone can understand a Father pardoning his only son. And we all knew he would do so. But lying about it through out the entire political season was pure trash.
He had to cover his son because of all the money he got as ‘the big guy’. I don’t give him any grace because he was just a ‘dad protecting his son’.
He never claimed that Hunter didn’t do the crime just that being charged for them was political.
He actually gave him the same immunity that they failed plea bargain would have.
I don’t know – I would pardon my son, and there is no doubt the entire Biden family was in the trough.
But for Biden to use the “no one is above the law” during the entire campaign season to justify his DOJ going after Trump was complete lying BS.
And then if your argument is that the gun charge was over the top, then how about a specific pardon instead of a blanket pardon for all known and unknown crimes over 10 years?
FJB knows that Hunter pulled some crap that hasn’t come out yet.
Making sure everything was covered.
Damn right. Hunter was merely the ‘front man’ for the family scamming Ukraine/China out of millions of dollars. The Biden Family had more foreign bank accounts to ‘wash’ money thru than Enron.
Soooooooooo…..once Trump takes office his first order of business should be pardoning himself.
He has already promised all the Jan 6ers who didn’t commit any actual crimes.
His pen is going to be busy.
What DOJ did to these people is criminal. Bondi should fire or detail to Alaska any DOJ lawyer who had anything to do with this.
If they can’t fire them due to ‘protections’ sending them to ‘bum-f*ck Egypt’ is the next best thing.
Hopefully they will refuse the transfer and quit.
If Biden gets impeached, would it make the pardon null and void?
No.
No limits on the power of the President to grant pardons.
I was just thinking that it is kind of funny how this came out the same weekend that Kash was nominated to head the FBI. Things that make you wonder…..
The Vikings held it together, and got rolling in the fourth quarter to get it done, and win the game yesterday. Good stuff!!! I still think this team can do some damage in the playoffs. SKOL!
‘this team can do some damage in the playoffs’
If they could stop shooting themselves in the foot they could.
Shooting yourself in the foot is still doing damage.
True.
I assumed you meant to other teams.
I should have known better.
Yep. They’ll either damage other teams seasons or the mental health of Vikings fans.
That is a likely scenario.
Ecxellent point.
4 More Picks for the Deer in a football Jersey. Give him another $60 mill Atlanta!
LOL.
@You’re not a Kirk fan?@
😉 Not as our QB after 2 season, other than that could not care less. I just feel vindicated and love being proven right so im gonna rub it in a bit 🙂
There are certain rules to live by in life…
Never get less than 12 hours of sleep
Never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city
Never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body
Never pay a .500 QB on the north side of 30 with an achilles injury big money
Stick to that and everything else is cream cheese…
I like those..wise words indeed!
And don’t piss on Superman’s cape.
And the minute you start thinking you’ve got it figured out, start over.
Especially in Golf! Hey I played at a beautiful Arizona Course last Wednesday…probably the nicest course I have ever played, and at 200 dollars a person it should be nice. (our host covered half of it for us). Shot an 88 on a slope 124.
Absolutely couldn’t believe I played that well. I used rental clubs and tried the regular flex instead of the stiff flex that I usually play. I think my swing speed has decreased enough that its time to go to regular.
Golf for sure. What a humbling sport. Three great holes and then you hit a shot that looks like a 120 capper hit it.
You forgot:
Never eat canned peas in the dark with a hunting knife….
Solid advice right there
This is a strange season in. the NFC. The mighty Cowboys and Niners have fallen. The Vikings have as good a chance as anyone of going to SB.
But, there’s strange data points all over the place. We are 9 -2 and yet have beaten two teams with a winning record – and I think the Texans were over rated and the Packers were playing with a rusty QB.
And, folks really like the Lions and Eagles, yet both were beaten at home by the lowly Bucs and Falcons (trash division teams).
Come playoff time, and we’re playing well (and healthy) , see no reason we can’t do it.
I am hoping for a Vikings/Bills superbowl, so at lest 1 cursed franchise can finally win one.
But the other……?
Fully cursed.
Of course I would expect the Vikings to lose.
That would be a dream for the NFL (but obviously their biggest dream is Lions-Bills).
Officially nominated to run the FBI.
Does anyone in this country still believe the FBI is the world’s greatest law enforcement agency? Yet, hear Repubs and Dems say this all the time. BS
I think the cops are good.
The leaderships is corrupt and bias.
If the FBI showed up at my door I wouldn’t talk to them without a warrant.
Think even the rank and file have been corrupted. And too many DEI hires and junior leaders.
Could well be.
I still think that there are a lot of good to decent cops there.
Watching the whistle blowers testify to congress and hearing about what they went thru makes me want to tear down the HQs brick by brick.
Ditto
They’re as corrupt as the “criminals” they pursue, IMO.
That being said, I think 95% of cops are good people. The 5% piss me off, they ruin people’s lives, or worse.
In my business life, did some ‘business’ with the FBI. The scenes from the first Die Hard movie about the FBI are not too far off the mark.
Still, there are some good agents.
Those were great movie characters…
“What do you figure for breakage?”
“Figure we take out the terrorists, lose twenty, twenty-five percent of the hostages. Tops.”
“I can live with that…”
In Hostage Operations it is a given that being a Hostage Sucks because many, if not all, will be lost.
I love Shawn Ryan, one of the good guys.
Alright, give me the details on going to a game. We’ll be going to our first Vikings game this next Sunday.
How early can we get there? How long can we stay? (We’re going to max our experience.)
Where’s the best place to park? (cost, ease to the stadium and driving out)
What should we make sure not to miss out on?
What’s the best (and most cost-effective) food? Can I bring snacks in (I doubt it)?
I would suggest reserving a parking spot in one of the parking ramps, but don’t count on it being available. Still show up early to make sure you get a spot. I reserved a spot a couple years ago and thought since it was reserved, I could get there 30 minutes early, it was right across the street, and have plenty of time to get to the game. I pulled up to the ramp and they told me it was full. I said I had reservations, they said to contact the company I got the reservations from. I spent the next 20 minutes finding a parking spot and we got to our seats just as we were kicking off.
You cannot bring any food or drink into the stadium, and you will want to check what size of bag/purse you can bring in. They do have places outside the stadium where you can check in a bag that is too large, but it does cost money.
Hopefully Kirko doesn’t have one of those games where you sit there and wonder why he can’t do this all of the time. Enjoy the game, I went to the game where the Cowpies gave us a shellacking.
I want to see about five sacks on Kirk Sunday. He has all of the pocket mobility of a WWI tank at this stage. He better get the ball out fast.
Hopefully the defense has some pent up energy after not getting to Kyler much yesterday.
Getting to Kirk will be much different than getting to Kyler.
They spied Kyler almost all game.
For sure. Is Pace out for an extended period or was it a one game thing?
IR – at least 4 (now 3)
I thought I remembered hearing that but couldn’t remember for sure. Get him back in time for the playoffs hopefully, if not the end of the season.
I would like to see Kirko play so poorly that Penix plays, but not until late when the game is out of reach.
Otherwise, Penix will throw 5 TD’s and his legend will begin.
That’s weird that you reserved and it didn’t get reserved.
This was what was going on in my mind as I was trying to find another parking ramp. It also took 6 months to get reimbursed. If you’re planning on being there early you can park in a ramp a few blocks away and not worry about making a reservation.
Yep, that’s the plan. I want to get there early to ensure we can go in when the gates open up.
What does parking run down there on game days?
We parked about 6 blocks away and I believe it cost $15-20
Depends on the ramp. We parked a few blocks away and I remember it being pretty cheap. If you go online, you can see what the price is at all the different ramps and weigh the cost vs the walk.
Me considering how far away to park and checking the weather for Sunday:
Kirk had is one good month a year. And its long gone. He’s had two games against Bucs terrible pass defense to pad his stats. He’s straight ass homie.
In the past I went to a bunch of games, but it has been a really long time since I’ve been there. The last time I went, 2 of my kids took me as a birthday present. We went to the Vikings Hall of Fame and then went out to eat before the game (it was a night game). For food, that was my usual plan was to eat before I got there because I’m tight and didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a hotdog that I could buy at Kwik Trip for a fraction of the price that they charge at the stadium. Also, I don’t drink alcohol, so that saved me a ton. And since I live 2 hours from the stadium, I would just wait until I got to Hudson before I would stop to get something to eat on the way home. However you want to do it, you will still be creating memories. Hopefully good ones with a Viking win.
Yeah, I’m thinking that we’ll try to fill our stomachs to the max before we get there. I do drink, but I won’t when I’m there. I hate paying that much for a beer, and I want to take in the full experience.
I think parking is my biggest question mark right now.
You’ll find a spot as long as you’re a couple hours early. I think they start letting people in the stadium around 10:30 for a noon game. Make sure you are in your seat for the fake snowfall before the team comes out of the tunnel, that’s pretty cool.
Ahh cool. Good to know. Thanks!
We always stay at the Hyatt, that way we can walk to the game and don’t have to park. Parking absolutely sucks, getting out of there after the game is even worse.
I hope to stay as long as we can. Does that help with the leaving part?
Did for us the one time I’ve been to this stadium. My wife got a picture with one of the players too. You can see the players come out to their vehicles. We saw Thielen, Jets, Zim and a bunch of other guys. Of course most of them just ignore you, and it was the loss to the Rams so they weren’t in a good mood, but my wife was pretty pumped. I couldn’t tell you where that was. We came out the wrong door and were walking around the stadium and just happened to start seeing players.
I bet it would help.
Ok, I have not been to a game since Kirko played like shit in 2018 vs Chicago.
That said, there are places to eat and drink prior to the game that will save you a lot of money.
I would plan on getting near the stadium around 9 am, park, and decide where you want to eat. The plaza is just as overpriced as being inside the stadium, so I usually hit up a brewery. There are several that had decent food back then.
Day Block Brewing has a really good pregame deal that starts at 8 am. Buffet with really decent pizza, and some breakfast foods, bloody mary’s and beer.
Probably overpriced now, but it was around $30 and included tap beer and food and I really got my money’s worth. Drank enough to not even want a $14 beer in the stadium.
Hells Kitchen would be fun also, I have never been there, but I hear good things about the pregame food.
Hen house
Crooked pint (probably the most cost effective, and they have decent game day specials)
Manny’s
So many decent options. But everything is going to cost more on gameday.
I would eat before hand, and have peanuts or popcorn at the stadium.
I go to a couple of games every year. We generally park in the Capella Towers building and then walk to the game, It is about a 15 minute walk. The Capella Towers is an office building with parking in the basement that they open up for game days. The car is always warm when we get back to it. Getting out is pretty easy…you have to take a right on 7th out of the parking garage and you will meet up with the interstates fairly quickly.
Gates open at 10:30. We have been there enough now that we don’t get there too early. I would recommend you for sure go to the Vikings ship outside…its kind of cool….has the history of the vikings on plaques as you make your way through it.
Food is expensive, we usually eat at Hells kitchen at around 9:30 or 10 and then don’t really eat at the game so I can’t help you out there. If you are drinking alcohol prepare to be raped. I useally get one or two of the 20 (or 24) oz Surly IPAs, but it will run you 20 bucks apiece. I look at it as being equivalent to about 4 regular beers so not awful.
Thatls all I have for you…Its a beautiful venue….which game are you going too?
‘which game are you going too?’
Seems like I saw the answer somewhere.
‘We’ll be going to our first Vikings game this next Sunday.’
Ah…you are correct….
I am going to the Kirko game as well….
I was afraid my comment would come across as too ‘a-hole-ish’.
I tried to stay on the ‘snarky’ side of that line.
You were like Jordan Addison last week tip toeing the line.
As long as I don’t drive like JA as well I will take that.
My skin is fairly thick….I am no snowflake…I didn’t take offense.
Still not crossing that line and being snarky yet respectful is a good thing to practice.
I can use all the practice being a good person as I can get.
I try, lord knows I try.
But I am a sinner so I seldom get it right.
The preacher had a great illustration of the gospel on Sunday.
“Suppose Michael Phelps and I had a race to see who could swim across the Pacific the fastest. Now Michael Phelps is a “better” swimmer and will make it much farther but neither of us are making it across the Pacific. We are both going to die. That’s how it is with trying to earn salvation…it doesn’t matter how good you are, you are not good enough, you need a Savior”.
that’s a wonderful story.
Not very inspiring it seems.
I would hope that I at least get an E for Effort.
Sorry SoCal, God doesn’t grade on a curve….you get nothing for effort.
O.K. enough theology for the day.
You think?. I thought we all fall short, but our trying (effort) to strive to be better is what really matters.
WE should for sure strive to be better – but that doesn’t matter. We strive to be better because of what Christ did for us. It’s like trying to please your parents – they will love you even if you are a shit – but most of us wanted to make our parents proud.
So since our efforts don’t matter and we will be loved regardless of what we do why are we trying to be the best person we can be again?
I am trying for me, but your argument runs counter to everything I a have been taught/believe.
Your efforts don’t matter because you will never be good enough…but why would you not want to live your very best life in honor of the One who saved your eternal soul?
Sounds very Communist or DEI.
It doesn’t matter what you do because all outcomes are the same for everyone.
Do your best to be the best person you can but just because it gives you a warm feeling.
I am glad that I was not raised to believe this woke stuff.
I’m not a good enough Christian. I still have a problem that someone like Hitler can accept Christ at the eleventh hour and have a seat at the table just like everyone else.
The Prodigal Son story still bothers me too.
That one pisses me off, and how about the one where the owner of the vineyard goes to pick up workers in the town square throughout the day, and then he pays them the same whether they worked for 10 hours or for 1 hour.
Doesn’t seem fair does it?
i have 3 kids.
My love for them doesn’t change.
We are all gods children.
If we admit we need help, ie sinned, he still loves us the same.
I love my kids as well.
But if they are a-holes or criminals that doesn’t stop me from condemning their actions.
I will work on helping them becoming better person but that starts with helping them see their flaws so they begin to fix them.
IMHO of course.
Life’s about choices. I will support you becoming a better person, but choices have consequences and you will not learn from your actions if there are no consequences.
Amen Bow.
If your ‘efforts don’t count’ how can you learn to be a better person, there is no consequence to bad choices?
Something about ‘Spare the rod and spoil the child’.
Awesome info. Thank you!
One more question:
It says online the gates open 2 hours before the game (which would be 10:00 am). Have you had to wait until 10:30 before?
I would go with what the on-line says. I thought it was 10:30 but we never get there before 11 anymore so I really wouldn’t know.
If you do want to walk around the inside of the stadium, (and it has some neat stuff) it is a good idea to get there early early. By about 11:30 its pretty full and the concourses can get a little difficult to navigate in places.
Ok, thanks. Yes, I want to be able to take in the sights. It’ll be the first game for me and kiddo.
Enjoy it! It is what memories our made of.
Depending on where you are trying to eat before the game you may need a reservation. The Local and Hells kitchen both take reservations…
it feels pretty dang good sitting at 10-2
kind of crazy that the worst record we could end up with is 10-7, on a rebuilding year…
i guess you could call it a “competitive rebuild”
Are you Pete Bercich? Sure sounded like you on the radio yesterday.
I guessed 12-5 at the start of the year. Looks like I’ll be off a bit, probably more like 13-4 or 14-3.
yesterday was maybe the first time EVER that my kids and wife were tuned in to a majority of the game (they would go in and out, go play this or that then come back and see and sit for a bit). Which is funny since it was a pretty gross game until the last 10 minutes or whatever…
my daughter kept telling me we could come back and win we just have to believe. So i told her i believed. and low and behold. The kids were jumping up and down, at one point i was holding all 3 at once spinning around…
but i think my favorite part of yesterday was getting the kids to chant with me “don’t be wimps, don’t be wimps” on the cardinals last drive, and our defense stepped up and made the play
quality parenting.
Well plaid
Love it!
Had my kid copying my nervous pace and my celebration jumping and dancing. Fun end to the game.
Fun times.
I had a very mellow viewing experience. Usually, I go watch with mom, but I had the house to myself for the first part of the game, so I decided to stay home and watch it.
Took a nap after the first quarter. Got up to see the last couple of minutes.
I bailed during the 3rd quarter, and then saw they were making it close, so I watched the last 5 minutes.
It seems like the last minutes of games has become disproportionately action-packed in the modern NFL. Being down 10 points with two minutes left is not the insurmountable thing it once was.
Teams can get in field goal range in like 25 seconds now.
Maybe it was always like that, but it doesn’t see that way to my brain.
I think the new kickoff rule changed that. Starting at the 30 instead of the 20 is a huge advantage. You only have to gain about 30-40 yards to get into field goal range.
Plus, 60-yard FGs are in play now, too.
I remember when a 53-yard FG was considered daring.
Wish we had Justin Tucker…oh, wait…
“Bailed during 3rd quarter”, wrenage takes a nap? What kind of fans are you guys? I’m not trying to be a dick, but man, I can’t wait each week for the next game, win or lose!
I am a fair-weather fan. Obviously.
I am the type of fan that has seen enough shitty play by this team that I will do something else when they suck.
First half, the team sucked. 3rd quarter started just as bad for the offense.
So, I did something else for a while. After 2018 season and the Kirko failure, I got in the habit of recording games and only watching if they won. They are more interesting this season because Kirk is gone.
Once JJ is playing, I will watch all the games until I give up on him.
Ready to watch every game for the next 20 years? You will NEVER give up on JJ.
No worries. I very rarely think people are dicks for their opinion, so let it rip!
As for me, I only have so much downtime a week to recuperate for the week ahead. I basically never let the Vikings interfere with that.
They get paid to let the game impact their life. I do not.
Ideally, all games would be 3 p.m. or 7 p.m. in my world. On weekends, I typically try to take a nap at 1 p.m.
My typical Sunday is up at 5 a.m., four-mile run, finish up chores, go to church, come home, take a nap and then do whatever else, so I am often falling sleep during noon games by habit at this point.
Since this year has been fun, I have been watching most of the games, though, and zonking out a bit after.
During the Kirk Cousins years, I probably only watched a complete game if they were at 3 p.m. or 7 p.m. Like Surly, getting rid of Kirk was a big reason to get me watching complete games again.
I would rather the ‘doomers’ bail that clog the game tread with ‘the sky is falling’ posts.
One bad play in the first at is ‘This team sucks’. More so on the DN game threat than here. But since I seldom get to actually see the game they have more information on what happened during the play so I have that opened for when I have questions.
think it’s a blog thing. Couple of weeks back, went to some other team’s blogs as they were playing. And some were good teams. But you read the posts during the game, they’re terrible, bunch of bumbs, this or that player sucks, you name it. It’s kind of crazy.
Have you ever gone to the Seahawks site on SB nation? I don’t know if it’s still this way, but they used to throw people off of there for incorrect punctuation and stuff like that, very odd. We had a few guys from the DN who got banned from there.
I should go over there and tell them that Starbucks sucks, maybe they’ll throw me off.
Call them Starbuck’s sipping pansies.
Just post the image of a QR code that takes them to Trump’s donation page.
Good one.
Sure to get a response from the collie-molesting admins.
I’m persona non-grata with the SB Nation mods, I don’t think any of them will be friending me on bookface.
‘I don’t think any of them will be friending me on bookface’
@I greave for you@
Was that the one that you had to properly use the subject line too?
Yep! They’re fairly snobby over there, but it’s Seattle so……
I don’t post on the DN any more.
But I do check it for news occasionally and follow the game thread if I can’t get the game locally.
Didn’t go there. But went to Lions site and you would have thought they were a 1 – 10 team and all their players suck.
Lifer, Five and Kodiak were great at the sky is falling.
Like Surly said, I record each game and if it is close I have to turn it and watch later. I have issues with my neck and close games get me too tense and I will get a really bad headache.
In the second half when they were playing so poorly, I finally had to get up and turn on my computer to do some work. I still watched the game, but it gave me something to do besides be frustrated with their poor play.
I was driving until the 4th quarter. Listening on the radio was not any better than watching it and I couldn’t walk away. I turned the channel a couple of times but it was like watching a car wreck. I just couldn’t look away.
That is some great memory creations that you can hang on to forever.
now if it can just turn into super bowl celebrations
That’s awesome
Man, is Christian McCaffrey having a snake-bit year…
I did not see all of the game Sunday, but I don’t really have any complaints. It was a game the Vikings should win, and they found a way to win it. It might have not been pretty, but there are a lot of teams hovering at a competent or slightly-above-competence level. Only a couple teams are a notch above, so a game between us as the Cardinals should be somewhat challenging.
Right now it looks like the Eagles and Lions are the notch-above teams in the NFC. If they get dinged by injuries, perhaps we can ascend to that level. I think we are in the slightly-above-competence level right now.
We can’t beat the Eagles or Lions if they are firing on all cylinders, but beating anyone else in the NFC is reasonable. Likewise, the Commanders, Seahawks, Rams, Packers, Bucs beating us is not unreasonable either if we are not firing on all cylinders.
Could be a fun last part of the season! I just don’t want to see any 41-0 BS…
My brother(pucker fan) said to me yesterday, your Vikings aren’t going anywhere in the playoffs… I told him, “we have overachieved so dramatically that I almost don’t care”. I really thought 6-11 was about the top of the mountain this year. SO, I am in your boat-just no 41-0 curb stomping and since we never stop competing, we could actually win a playoff game.
I expected 4-6 wins, so I am having fun with the year, too.
Victory Monday!
SKOL!
FTP!
Was not prepared to come back to work after a week off. It will get better as the week goes on, luckily, I only had about 1 million emails to get caught up on.
I have to clear emails when I’m on vacation. Coming back cold just isn’t feasible. I usually end up on the phone quite a bit because people are dumb and can’t function without micro management. The same micro management they then turn around and complain about.
Emails are the worst. After having a few days off it would be nice to come in and just start doing your normal stuff, but instead it takes forever to go through all of the “issues” that no one could handle without you.
GM
FTP!
SKOL!
I re-watched the highlights of the ATL game. I know it is not Tues, but seeing Kirko do his thing is poetic. He played so bad yesterday that it almost reminded me of his 2018 game vs Chicago to end the season.
@ATL is getting what they paid for@
Thank god he is gone.
Now, I will not really be able to root for FTP on Thursday, but I will take whatever outcome as a win. Either the Vikings will gain a game on FTP or the Loins. Either way, it will help.
Happy Monday!
I saw a funny post on the Falcons SB site. Something like…
“Kirk should pass the torch to Penix…but it would probably be intercepted…”
Ouch
Yup, can’t cheer for ftp. At least one of them will finally lose one.
Unless it ends up in a tie. That would mean we would still be 1/2 win behind.
Someone tried telling me that I need to root for the Packers. Negative, that will never happen.
Team Meteor is the way.
Yep. I won’t be cheering for either team. I absolutely 100% refuse to cheer for the Packers. EVER.
If the Packers play Satan, I’m rooting for Satan.
I don’t think I’ll even watch the game. Overall a Packer victory would possibly be better for the Vikings, but I don’t have a big enough trash can to collect the amount of vomit it would take for me to catch myself, even subconsciously, cheering for the Packers. I’ll just check the score at the end.
Plumbing would back up trying to flush all that FTP inspired upchuck.
Yeah, I just paid 15 grand to fix my plumbing this spring. I don’t need to ruin it already.
Hmmmmm……I’d think the opposite. More upside to the Loins losing.
We can’t take the NFCN without the Loins losing 2 games right, and we’re running out of games for that to happen, so if FTP happens to do it, then we only need them to lose 1 more time.
If FTP wins, they’re still a game behind us (if we beat Kirko).
However, if Loins win, they stay a game ahead of us, and we put another game between us and FTP, so status quo.
Isn’t a Lions loss the same thing as a Packers win?
Yup, exactly.
Screw it, I’m just gonna root for the Lions.
Just for that game though.
No…you must put your Packer Hatred aside for one game. We really want the Vikings to win the Division and get home field…come on man, get with the program.
We play the Lions week 17. We just need to win out.
The Lions still need to lose another and the Vikings win out.
exactly.
You can just NOT root for the Loins………..problem solved!
It’s kind of a hard spot for me, my dad was a Lions fan. I can’t root for them, though. Sorry, dad.
