The week is just beginning (for me, anyway), and it’s almost over, only two days until the weekend. There are quite a few playoff teams playing games with no real meaning who will sitting players, something to keep in mind for those of us in pick ’em leagues & such. We watched Sonic 3 at the theater yesterday, it was a pretty good movie. Probably not as good as Sonic 2, but still a damn good kids show. If you’re thinking of going, I’d say it’s worth it.
Jordan Addison
There was talk earlier in the year that the Vikings may move Jordan Addison in the offseason. Addison had a speeding ticket (doing over 100 mph), and got a DUI. I’m not sure if those are the reasons they’re thinking of moving him, but I’m sure it’s part of the consideration. I’ll go on record as thinking that it’s completely stupid to get rid of the kid. From all accounts/reports, he’s done his time & seems to have taken repsonsibility. He’s a good teammate, and his talent is undeniable. Dude’s in his early 20s with 7 figures in the bank. If that would have been me, I wouldn’t be alive today, I can guarantee you that. If the kid seems to have learned from his mistakes, then support him & let him move on. You don’t throw someone away over stupid mistakes. Just my opinion.
Vikings-Lions
The Vikings won’t be resting anyone, that’s for sure. The upcoming Vikings-Lions game might be the game of the year. I hope the Vikings are up to the task and can find a way to come out of Detroit with a win, the NFC North, and the top seed in the NFC. To do that, the Vikings defense will need to do something to limit Jared Goff and the Detroit offense. They got carved apart for much of the first matchup between these two teams because they had little luck in getting pressure on Goff. Flores will have to dial up something special to slow down the Lions offense. If they can at least limit Detroit’s scoring, then I have no doubt that the Vikings offense can score enough to get a win. We’ll find out in a few days.
Vikings News
A Vikings @ Lions game preview from Vikings.com.
From the Pioneer-Press, Aaron Jones says he wants to finish his career with the Vikings. I love how Jones plays the game, he’s a strong runner who seems to always get a couple more yards than you think he’ll get on a run. He’s provided life for the Vikings rushing attack for the first time since Dalvin Cook was here.
“This is an excellent place,” Jones said. “This is where I hope to finish my career.”
Lions LB Alex Anzalone is working toward returning from a broken arm for the Vikings game, according to Fox Sports.
NFL News
Jimmy Garroppolo will get the start for the Rams on Sunday as Stafford will sit, per Fox Sports.
Keep up with the latest injury news from around the league on CBS Sports’ injury tracker.
From NFL.com, Packers CB Jaire Alexander had his knee scoped and is likely out for the season. The Packers might get bounced in the first round, which would be fantastic. Also, Tua’s status is unknown for a must-win game in week 18 and Josh Dobbs will start for the 49ers. I’m happy to see Dobbs get another start, hopefully he has a good game.
Aaron Rodgers acknowledged that Sunday may be his final NFL start, per ESPN. Rodgers currently has 499 career TD passes. The way that offense is playing, there’s no guarantee that he’ll get to 500. Finishing with 499 would suck. For him, anyway.
Media Selection
I love the podcast Coffeezilla, he does a lot to expose scams & does REALLY good investigative work. Here he is on Joe Rogan, dude seems like a really nice guy.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another
1/2 a sack will get Cashman a 250k bonus. That’s some good motivation.
Damn at this level that seems kind of a modest amount.
Two sacks get Z. Smith paid too… bet he’s gonna be coming after Sam.
Pretty chatty in here today.
What did I miss?
Need a benjammin summary.
Wheres Ben when you need him most?
Aaron Jones wants back.
I bet we sign him to a 2 year deal. keep his cap hit low.
I won’t be shocked if Murphy leaves, but Bynum stays.
I also won’t be shocked if most defensive lineman who are FA stay as well.
Need a FA tracker. Think it starts Wednesday but that tampering bs starts 1st. Like our LB this year, hope bynum stays. No idea on Sam with JJ on deck. Skeptical on him staying.
Who is Aaron Jones?
I watched the game last Sunday, heard them talking a lot about Josh Jacobs. He is simply amazing. He can do it all, half back full back double back baby back.
Why can’t we get a guy like Josh Jacobs?
Exactly.
Jones can’t stay healthy.
Its always something.
Dude is not all that dominating.
when he plays on sunday night, he will have played in all 17 games this year…
he’s going to break his career high in rushing yards and needs 88 total yards to break his record for most total yards in a season..
he’s a great pass protection rb and he catches well out of the backfield..
he’s been everything we’ve needed him to be for us.
He’s averaging 68 yards a game.
And has probably been hurt in every game.
Hes not terrible, but you can’t count on him for a full load.
i’d be curious to see if we had a back like Josh Jacobs, if KOC would even utilize him the proper way.
midway through the 3rd quarter we always seem to be 34 passes 16 runs
KOC loves to throw the ball.
I’d like to see them keep him still after the Mattison debacle and draft one. That ASU kid looked good last night.
Yall that was a battery explosion, not a bomb. Pretty sure his shitty Tesla batteries just failed.
Why did he shoot himself in the head and what were all the secondary explosions? There was fireworks and gas cans in the vehicle along with a Desert Eagle and an AR10.
Headline: “Fourth of July fan and green energy enthusiast killed by failed gun laws while organizing a Trump protest.”
That’s actually really clever Wren… nice!
Ahhh I did not have that information. I just saw the video of the car explode. ….thats odd though. Why bring all the guns if you were just going to blow yourself up? Things still dont add up.
The guy in New Orleans had a pistol and 308 as well and bombs in the vehicle, but he just drove through people then got in a shoot out.
That I did hear about. Great host city for the Bowl NFL. Folks doing all they can to distract and delay Trump taking office.
Not adding up.
https://twitter.com/shitpost_2077/status/1874674479256965589
I need this!
It actually made me think of you for some reason. I would love it in my office, but the deer version.
That is fun
LOL
Vikings kind of winter white. Think helmets are purple. Kitties black with blue trim. Good contrast at least. FTL. TOP prob the big factor. Turnovers, injuries, total yards. I miss anything?
You forgot the refs. The main question is if the NFL has moved off their Lions narrative yet and what Vegas says.
Oh yeah, should have been first on list.
If they really wanted a good narrative and story they would want Vikings vs Bills over Detroit vs KC
That would upset the Swifties though and you can’t have that.
I think the swiftie influence on NFL ratings was more a last year thing.
I disagree. Travis Kelce has more pro bowl votes than anyone else (fan votes). He is not even a top 10 TE this season.
Swifties are still around and very vocal.
Gross, did not know that.
Still not sure what to think about this.
Mahomes was NOT selected to Pro Bowl. Heard he came in eighth overall and fourth in AFC.
Any thoughts?
They are setting them up as the underdogs for the playoffs since they know Mahomes would never go to the Pro Bowl anyway.
“This Mahomes guy is amazing! Can you believe he wasn’t selected for the Pro Bowl? What a slap in the face! It just goes to show that everyone and everything is against the KC Chiefs. Only the pure love of Swift and Kelce will see them through this dark night and to a Super Bowl victory. Gather, Swifties, gather! Rally behind this poor blighted team and their poor, maligned, disrespected QB!”
He’s not dating Taylor?
But his wife and Taylor made up.
Mahomes is 16th in the league in passer rating this year. Far from his past few years. He hasn’t a bad year, just bad for the standard he’s been achieving.
If we are down by five and on our 20 with 1 minute left, of all the QB’s in the league I’ll take Mahomes under center every time.
Well, if he has Kelce… yes.
Interesting. I’d take Burrow.
Mahomes has no WR’s. How would Burrow do. without Chase and Higgins?
The three QB’s that did make the pro bowl pretend games for the AFC are all having much better seasons than Mahomes.
Defense has carried KC this season. He is not having a pro bowl year. If that even means anything now.
Valentine’s Day candy is already out. I got some cinnamon jelly hearts.
For yourself?
This year my wife bought herself a Christmas present, wrapped it up and put in under the tree. She found a box of chocolates she liked and purchased them as a gift for herself.
I am very much in favor of this approach.
Yep, got them for myself. I need the serotonin today.
The Teacher changed all of the Christmas Decorations and accents in the house to ‘New Years’ yesterday.
As a former 1st grade teacher she is hyper focused on all of the holidays/seasons.
It will take her awhile before she works her way to Valentines Day.
I bet that is really common among primary school educators. Every time I visit an elementary school I’m struck by all the “flair” about the upcoming holiday, even dumb ones like St. Patrick’s Day.
What’s wrong with St Patrick’s Day?
Some stupid so-called
Then have both. Certainly better than Gay Day.
Heard FJB wants to take the L out of Flag day before he leaves office.
After listening to his Press Secretary wouldn’t surprise me at all.
This is the wrong thing to do.
I was at Cub foods and noticed the Valentine’s day candy, but I also noticed the Christmas candy and treats all on severe price reductions.
Got some peppermint chocolate biscotti for $1.25. Normally 6 bucks.
LaFlunk defends Kraft diving at Pat Jones’ knees, injuring him, saying it’s “totally legal”
Funny……he didn’t decline the flag on Harrison Smith blocking at the waist (and then getting forced down towards the knees) of HIS player……
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/matt-lafleur-defends-totally-legal-low-block-on-pat-jones-ii#:~:text=A%20low%20block%20on%20Sunday,game%2C%E2%80%9D%20LaFleur%20told%20reporters.
Means nothing until the game is over.
Useless words. I hope the Vikings shut the damned lions down.
To delete or not to delete. That is today’s question.
???
My pickup. Should have been more specific. Trying to decide if I fix or remove the EGR crap.
If you’re gonna keep it for ten more years, delete…if you’re going to replace it do the emissions stuff.
Mutual friend and her husband claimed they found me a wife back in mid December. Her husband is in the National Guard and this gal is his co command for the unit, they send me a picture of them at their units Xmas party. Shes pretty, blonde (yay). So my friend hypes me up to her at the party, few weeks go by, we start chatting on the phone over snap chat, and have been talking pretty regularly. She moved from Fargo to here on Monday. Talked her into coming up to say hi to me while I was bartending on New Years Eve so that was the first time we met in person. She’s STUNNING. On top of this she hunts, fishes (more than I do) and we’re into the same music. Going out for drinks tomorrow night to really chat. I feel like im out kicking my coverage here but im going to ride it out.
Forgot to mention shes originally from Wisconsin but claims she hates professional sports so that might be a saving grace.
Someone sounds a bit smitten.
Good luck. Hope it goes well.
Extremely. She did just get out of a 4 year relationship so Im trying very hard to keep is casual and just let things progress naturally. Which is hard for me but I keep thinking about my past mistakes so thats whats keeping me grounded.
Keeping it slow and easy is a good approach.
Icebreaking is half the battle. She came to see you at your work – saying hello is a sign she’s interested.
Out-kicking your coverage is one thing – but don’t say she’s too good or you don’t deserve her. Becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Good luck.
You’re right, and I honestly didnt think she would so I was surprised but yeah, I played it cool and shot the shit with her like I would anyone else, maybe refilled her drink before someone else 😉 I guess the outkicking thing was reference to her looks more than anything else. I know my worth and value, I think we would be VERY compatible.
I get it. Looks can be intimidating and intriguing. I’m reminded of Charlie Sheen’s greatest quote – I think it was Charlie…..
’You show me a good looking woman and I’ll show you a guy who’s tired of f***ing her…’
If she’s got brains and personality to go along with the looks, it’s worth the effort.
Lol thats a good one, and sounds like something Sheen would have said so ill roll with it. She’s got that in spades from what I can tell. Unit commander, graduated from a good nursing program, wants to become a flight paramedic. She’s very driven. But im more adaptable so thats where I think opposites could attract.
Yep, don’t worry about out-kicking your coverage. That is something for her to figure out.
Some words of advice do not check her anal glands on the first date. If you haven’t read below, please do it makes more sense.
10/10 advice
I’m going to take the opposite side here and say anal glands are something you want to address on the first date, probably in the first minute, actually.
It’s a good test.
Best of luck!
Stunning is a good start.
You’re going to totally screw this up…
JK
good luck my friend
You know, theres been times in the past where Ive had that thought. Not really feeling that right now.
good, i was only messing with you.
I know haha – just being real.
hey good to see you, thanks for wanting to get together, what’s your opinion of kirk cousins….
Lol oh fuck off 😂😂
Spend like 20 minutes talking about your past exploits, then when she’s eying the door say “That’s enough about me, let’s talk about you. What do YOU think of me?”
Seals the deal!
YES! Talking about yourself is always the best approach – why put pressure on her by asking her questions……
There’s probably a grain of truth there. Some times my wife likes to pull out the “if I had known that you (pulled pickles out of a jar with your fingers…forgot to carry along a kleenex on a cold winter’s day…didn’t know intrinsically where all the esoteric kitchen utensil like the little weird butter knife that looks like a hockey stick go…etc) when we met, then I’d have walked away…” card.
Absolutely absurd.
Why dirty another utensil when you can suck the pickle juice right off your fingers……
You could always talk about Madden then.
She hates sports or so she said so, I feel like that would be unwise.
I just thought I remembered you saying that you really love playing Madden. Maybe that was somebody else.
Oh no…LOL!
love this movie…
Good, I’m glad someone got the reference.
You’re going out for drinks, sort of a mini date. That’s great, just treat it as such. Forget the found me a ‘wife’ and out kicking my coverage stuff.
It’s a date with someone you just met so treat it as just that. Have a good time and if things work out well, go on a second date. And then play it from there.
Don’t get ahead of yourself.
Correct. And solid advice.
Refrain from drinking more than she does on the early dates.
I more worried about the opposite. She drinks Bulleit Bourbon and Ginger Ale like its water lol
Then she is a keeper….Do whatever you can to win her over.
Just remember
I am a big fan of Bullet Rye on ice, but it is definitely a sipping drink.
I drink barrel proof bourbon neat this time of year. For the price Bulleit products arent bad.
At least she has a very good drink preference.
Could be worse (Zima).
I like Jameson Ginger, but Bourbon works as well.
Yeah im a fan of everything so far at this point lol. I was worried she wouldnt like my sense of humor but I think shes a fan and we’re both smart asses so. Funny enough the bar I am now no longer working for makes their own “zima” in house. Iv made a keg or two of it. Its just cheap vodka, a shit ton of sugar, lime juice, some citric acid and then we carbonate it and keg it. Then we have syrup flavors that we add to it. Sells like wild and the upcharge on it is insane.
Always exciting getting to know someone new, even more so when they’ve got so many of the qualities you would like in a woman.
Sounds like you two have had a good start. Relax, sit back and let it happen. I was a bartender in college – you need good conversational skills, which you obviously have.
Congrats, and good luck.
Thank you sir.
An absolute classic.
Will never get old. Same with the Fuck around and find out chart.
Oh, I have GOT to search that one up……first I’ve heard of it.
Do I need to turn the sound off my work laptop?
Idk about off but probably keep it low enough to not be heard outside the office / cube
If you guys are into history, especially war stories, and haven’t seen this guy, check him out on the Youtube. Hilarious and some awesome stories.
I have listened to that guy a couple times. He is good.
I watched a movie with the family last night, Matt Walsh’s “What is a woman?”
Its been out for a few years now.
It was informative, funny and infuriating. I would recommend it.
I just googled “anal glands.”
It only took me until January 2 to hit my low point this year. New record!
Set the bar low early and everything else is improvement.
You must not own a dog. Dogs are disgusting creatures, they have somehow figured out how to get caught with a piece of poo in their mouth one day and lick your face the next.
They are indeed disgusting…the all must be Eagle fans.
I have had labs my entire life and this anal gland thing has never been an issue. I had one that needed his ears cleaned after swimming but luckily he was one of the few labs that didn’t know how to swim. As it turns out, I’m now on my third lab and he also doesn’t swim. He knows how to, but just doesn’t care to. Second lab was normal and you couldn’t keep her out of the water.
Don’t knock it until you try it haha. The evolution in our house goes from one or the other of the dogs licking their groin in classic Lab fashion SLOCK SLOCK SLOCK SLOCK at 2 am, in the morning, “help me do the dogs glands” where my role is to play the supportive spouse praising the dog while holding a wet paper towel (postprocedural wipedown), followed by preventing the vile beasts from trying to lick the discharge.
This year I am going to work more on delegating.
I decided to let my wife take care of a minor car repair all by her lonesome. The oil plug is messed up and leaking. I don’t want to mess with it.
…
This is going to go very badly, isn’t it?
She will pay for someone to fix it…problem solved. It will go just fine.
In my household that would cross the line from “man job”. Henceforth I would be expected to do a minor item such as “hem your pants” or “fix a button” and if I professed uncertainty with how to proceed might receive a lecture wherein if I roll my eyes such action will be stored in the vault, only to emerge months or even years later when arguing about some minor disagreement.
I think there were like 7 chosen as alternates as well.
Too bad they are going to be too busy in New Orleans to go to Florida though.
Security risk too high, NFL might cancel the SB and just award it to Mahomo and friends.
Could just move it to US Bank. Unlikely a middle east terrorist is going to try anything in the snow and it would make the travel for the NFC team really short.
Does anyone want to bail me out of jail today?
I may end up strangling a co-worker. In my defense, they deserve it, so…
Business owner?
When my brother owned his business, and I worked for him, he had money in his account.
It didn’t stay long, he had bills to pay. It was a roller coaster every month.
I have a lot of respect for successful business owners, they go thru quite a lot.
Just make sure they never find the body, you should be fine.
Genius marketing and a new high intensity cardio workout combined in one.
We bought a new “modular” couch system, came in about two dozen boxes, $8000 and they get us to put the system together, stupid Americans. We thought it would take us a couple of hours yesterday, what a laugh. Each piece (seat, back, arm) had to be unpacked and prepared for assembly, the upholstery stretched on (my hands are still aching), and then by getting in a variety of highly stressful physical poses (at one point I had one foot planted on the edge of a cushion with my thigh in maximal abduction with the other leg flexed to the point my knee was at head level) each piece gradually assembled to the adjacent ones. Good news is my GPS watch said I burned 4000 calories. Bad news is I feel like I gave birth to a hippopotamus.
sounds suspiciously like the “love sac” modular furniture.
sounds suspiciously like something i will never be able to afford
Nailed it!
You’re going to be a great mom!
Benny Hill ref fully approved!
It’s a lot cheaper if you buy it already assembled. Plus, they’ll deliver it and set it in your house for you.
But then he would have such adventures to share with us here.
He’d come up with something.
I will say these pieces are much higher quality than the Ashley sectional we have in the TV room (which they delivered and set up for us).
I have wondered how good of quality they were. Never looked into the price though. Out of my range.
Also, congrats on the new addition! I bet a baby hippo eats a lot, I can’t imagine what it’s like to change the diaper.
Somebody finally got a hippo for Christmas? Lucky.
I honestly think this game is a toss up. The teams know each other inside and out. Lions will run a couple trick plays, but they probably won’t try a fake punt. The Vikings seem to be very good on fake punts for some reason.
The Lions beat us at home by two points. There was one turnover in the game (interception by the Lions). I think both teams will bring it on Sunday. I expect it will be a hard fought game, that comes down to the last few minutes.
Agreed. I can see a nice chipshot FG attempt by Reichard with Vikings down by 2 points at the end of the game. Maybe 54 yards or so. Easy peasy.
Just tell him to picture an upright in the middle of the field goal and he’s money.
i’m excited for Reichard to make you a believer again
I don’t think it “should be”.There offense is terrific, but so is ours. But we are far better on defense. We should put 40 on them but think they put that much on us,
Unless, we make a lot of turnovers and mistakes.
JRo – are you considering us to be better on D for this game, or in general?
Their D did hold us 2 points shy of beating them……
That’s a good point. Our defense has improved, theirs has gotten worse.
they have since had like 15 of their defensive players placed on IR. We will face a far less talented defense this time.
Gotcha.
Only thing I’m worried about is they seem to have become one of those teams that do a little extra to incidentally cause injuries.
Skol
Lets bring the hammer on Sunday.
Oh I expect us to bring the hammer.
I just hope/pray that we don’t smash our own thumb with it.
‘Hope for the best and expect the worst’ is the way.
City officials said barriers to prevent attacks, installed in 2017 along the street, were being replaced and had been removed in November.
When I replace something, I usually don’t remove the old one two months before I put in the new one.
We’re talking Government here… everything done in stages, and projects taking years to complete.
An especially corrupt government.
It doesn’t get any dirtier than New Orleans.
DC might have bigger amounts of $$ ripped off though.
Yup, exactly. NYC & Chicago are bad, too. At my corporate gig, my job was to seek out companies to buy. We didn’t even look in Chicago or the NYC area because of the corruption and underhanded business practices that you have to engage in if you want to get construction contracts. We bought a company in DC (PerLectric), but that was our only presence in the northeast. They did federal projects, so was a nice company to have in the portfolio.
I shake my head at these people who vacation in Mexico and cry when bad things happen to them.
‘Run By Drug Cartels’ means take the family somewhere else.
But…it’s so inexpensive.
I did chuckle a little – soon we head to Hawaii for a week of CME (back to the grind), I submitted some of the expenses and the provider compensation office asked if the plane ticket was for me, alone? Haha have they seen the price of tickets these days?
I just had to buy plane tickets to Florida for the whole family. Bye bye x-mas bonus. Now to come up with the cash to get the pickup fixed.
Where you going in Florida?
Fort Lauderdale to get on a boat for a couple days with the in laws. Wouldn’t be my first choice for a vacation but it’s for my sister in law’s birthday.
Cruises are my favorite vacation. There are places to hide from family if you want
I cheked tickets to Orlando in February, can get them for about $400 each, not too bad.
It came out to about $700 each for us. Probably could have got it cheaper if I would have been on the ball and done it sooner.
Get tix around 2-3 months in advance, and you’ll get the lowest prices.
I once had to buy a ticket to Boston the same day I had to fly, it cost me $2,500.
Where you flying into?
Makes a big difference for pricing.
FLH maybe?
check out flying into Miami and then use ground transportation.
Yup, exactly. MFers going down there to get married, I think they’re insane. Hey, let’s start our life together $30,000 in debt so we can pay for a stupid wedding in another country.
New Orleans is the most corrupt city in the USA, so it’s especially bad there. You can’t even trust the police there. I lived near there for 4 years, was in Jackson after Katrina hit & all the criminals from New Orleans moved there, the crime nearly doubled almost instantaneously. It was crazy.
And I found it amazing, the official was dumb enough to say this, even if it’s what they did. You can be stupid, but don’t have to tell the world you are.
meanwhile, the levies are just fine, I’m sure
They’ll hold, we don’t have to leave, despite what everyone tells us. We’ll be fine.
If it keeps on raining, levee’s going to break…
No they aren’t. Seems the money that was allocated for those improvements got “misplaced.”
I know, they just blurt it out, thinking it’s normal to the rest of the world. I think they’re unaware that most people aren’t the same as them.
not gonna lie, when browsing the words up top, seeing an entire section dedicated to Jordan Addison i was like OH NO WHAT DID HE DO NOWWWWWW
phew. crisis averted
LOL, I get it.
I honestly think his mistakes are behind him.
Seriously, if I’d have had 7 figures in the bank when I was his age, I would be dead. Absolutely no doubt about it.
I agree with keeping him. His mistakes may not be fully behind him yet because people mature at different speeds and it’s tough to change that fact, but…..
Factor in that the mistakes he’s made are (IMO) on the lower end of the severity spectrum. When you compare him to others in the NFL over the years – (dogfighting, wifebeating, kidbeating, sexual misconduct with minors, etc) – speeding is meh…..the DUI is the more concerning of the two issues he’s had, as that could have ended badly for him and others.
You have to think that he has gone through the mandatory classes, and is likely on a short leash with team management, but if they were going to move on from him because of his 2 issues, they’d have done it already.
I could see them move him to acquire draft picks, though, but even there – the bird in the hand……..
At least the DUI was from being parked and not driving 100 through downtown.
Last year I found out the hard way that you can’t be drunk and sleep it off in your vehicle in the parking lot, not driving at all.
Yeah, you gotta ditch the keys. Put em in the trunk or the bed of your pickup.
No kidding? Did they charge you with DUI?
Yes they did. I lawyered up, didn’t help much. Knocked BAC down enough so I didn’t have to give my truck a blowjob to start it.
Also, learned in the mandatory class that hiding the keys is not absolving you of the crime. That’s apparently an urban legend.
I had heard that legend as well..hide the key or throw it in the ditch, I guess that doesn’t work huh?
If it’s not in the cab then you don’t have control of the vehicle. Probably depends on the wording of DUI rules from state to state a bit. DUI is also one of only one or two vehicle violations that you can be charged with while not on a road. Technically, you could be charged with DUI on a golf course or driving through a field.
In WI they changed the charge from DWI (Driving while Intoxicated) to OUI (Operating Under the Influence) many years ago, likely to increase state revenue and cover the new and exciting ways to numb your brain.
The terms of my charge was something along the lines of having “proximity and opportunity” to operate the vehicle.
My line of thought was I have hunting weapons, and I pass gas stations and banks every day, so I have proximity and opportunity to rob the places at gunpoint, but I’ve never been charged for THAT.
They don’t GAF about my line of thought, I’ve found out.
Out of curiosity, what was your BAC?
I guess they would rather have impaired people drive then sleep it off in their cars, makes no sense.
.17
All my life I’ve seen/heard commercials – “Don’t Drink and Drive.” “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”
Never once have they made a commercial saying “Don’t Go Anywhere Near Your Vehicle if You’ve Been Drinking.”
Those situations encourage drunk driving and cops should be better about thinking things through. The main goal is supposed to be to gain voluntary compliance. If arresting somebody is going to do the opposite, then maybe you should reconsider your actions.
Personally think that is BS call by the Police. You should have been rewarded not punished for not driving.
Yep. You’re basically telling him to go ahead and drive home next time and hope for the best, and now anybody who knows him knows to go ahead and drive home.
It is insane.
At the very least I should have been allowed to call someone to come pick me up……….
When I told the lawyer the name of the officer, his eyes rolled and he said, “Oh Geez.”
Officer has a notorious rep for being hardnosed.
one Of my brothers had his license revoked, in his early 20s. He continued to drive and there was one particular officer that would wait until he was just about eligible to get his license back, and pull him over, extending the revocation.
He was determined to get his license back, so he didn’t drive for like 3 months before he was eligible. He worked in road construction and was working on a very cold day. The boss had a truck running so the guys could warm up every so often. My brother says in the drivers seat, not thinking he would get in trouble, since the truck was parked in the ditch. Said officer drives by and sees him in the truck and fines him and he had to wait another year.
Dang. That is petty.
The cops grandma was our neighbor and my brothers would pick on him when he visited. He actually became a cop to get back at them.
That’s a horrible way to live life. Let grudges go and be free.
Had a young Sgt call a cab after the NCO club closed on New Years Eve. It was winter in CO so it was cold. He sat in his car to wait, MPs pulled him out and arrested him for DUI. While they were doing that the cab showed up and confirmed he called them.
He was kicked out of the Army for it. One of the best young Sgts I ever worked with. I wrote letters and advocated for him to no avail.
That shit still pisses me off. His Commander basic said he had no choice since he would look bad if he didn’t kick him out. Damn Politics!!
Ouch.
He get caught with the CO’s daughter (or wife….)?
Nope, really good, young E-5.
His only mistake was sitting in his car due to the cold while waiting for his cab.
Back to the grind…
Hell of an album
I remember buying the cassette tape in a gas station for $3.99.
There was a period in the early 90s where they started notching cassette cases and selling them for $3.99 in grocery stores and gas stations.
I also got Faith No More: Angel Dust for $3.99 in a grocery store. That album was way too far ahead of its time.
Yup, had a ton of cassettes.
Faith No More was another good one. Radiohead is underappreciated as well.
How’s ol’ Patrick Jones doing? Alarming to see him leave the game last weekend.
KOC’s presser on Monday, he said they received good news on PJ’s MRI, and that he hopes to see him progress this week to play. but doesn’t know for sure right now.
no practice/holiday on wednesday doesn’t help but we shall see.
We need to pressure Goff, I think. Our defense is better than the 49ers – I don’t want to try to win a boatrace of a game. My cold, bitter heart can’t take it.
our offense and defense is better than the 49ers.
i agree with you, i don’t want it to become a TOTAL shootout, BUT i do think our defense make a couple stops.
I don’t know if our offense will be stopped much. the 49ers handled the Lions defense JUST FINE….just don’t throw the ball DIRECTLY to the defense and i think we can handle them
#nojinx
I think our D can at least limit their scoring enough, but yeah, gotta get to the QB. If you let him sit in a clean pocket, it’ll be a LONG day.
I think this is key as well.
Their OL is legit, we will have to blitz.
The pass rush getting to Goff is vital.
Didn’t we blitz a lot last time, they were good at reading it and picking it up, and thus they got several big plays.
They started to get pressure toward the end of the game, could have been due to the O-line getting worn down, or maybe they found something that worked that can help them game plan better this time. Hope for the best, I guess. Also gotta remember to plan for the worst, so hopefully the offense is ready to put up 50 if necessary.
Agreed, we started to slow their offense, when we stopped blitzing and dropping more into coverage, IIRC.
Goff dealt with our blitz pretty well, yes.
Goff has one of the better “Time to Throw” stats in the NFL, he gets rid of the ball very quickly…hard to get much pressure on him. Maybe we can confuse him and bait him into an INT.
I will steal his girlfriend the night before the game. That should distract him. Normally, I don’t bother with girls who are a 4 on a 1-10 scale, but duty calls…
i appreciate your willingness to help the team and the vikings fans!
You’re welcome, America.
I can tell I’m getting older. I look at someone like this and wonder, would she lance a boil on my back, empty my dogs’ anal glands, bake up a dynamite casserole, run and grab me a 1/2″ torque wrench with a 19 mm socket while I’m digging in the bowels of the tractor, and help stretch fence, all on a Saturday afternoon in January?
All I got out of that was “anal glands.”
That is a very attention-getting phrase.
First time we encountered an anal gland emergency was actually shortly after we got married, we were travelling through Regina (this Regina – anal gland diad sounds like a Seinfeld episode). Our vizsla had a spontaneous discharge in the back of our SUV and the awful smell had us looking for Febreze (which does not exist in Canada, be forewarned).
The old small town vet taught my wife how to take care of it. I scrape and brush the teeth, clip the nails, clean and irrigate the ears, but she is the queen of the anal glands.
Queen of anal glands, that’s more of an honorary title, correct?
Haha, what a great gift idea, certificate of anal gland competency.
These doctors are into some weird things.
Speaking of odd doctors, our vet is competent, but odd. He came from Minnesota so maybe that’s it. Had the dogs in for their shots and he does the review of symptoms right after I tell him they had been bird hunting four days (last week), and I covered 35 miles in those four days so they probably did 5x that. “How is Bubba’s energy level? Does he seem sore lately? Does he get plenty of exercise?” Then they do what I consider very dumb, they do a heartworm blood test on both (they are on heartworm prevention year round), but I know better than to argue about that as when we transferred Tuck’s records over from Best Friends there was a caustic entry when I got in a spirited argument with the front desk about needing a blood test when your dog is on continuous prevention (owner is a physician and states “he knows how vaccines and antivermicides work and his dogs are 100% compliant with medication, very aggressive”).
That is one sex tape I would never rent…
Nope, that’s one you gotta own.
As Brent Musburger once said, “You quarterbacks get all the good-looking women.”
She’s got a Mila Kunis/Angelina Jolie thing going on, eh?
Actually, I’m not attracted to women with
See, North gets it. Think of all that hair in the shower drain. Ick.
Yup.
My wife has hair halfway down her back (sprouting from her head, not out of her back)…..on a weekly basis it looks like Bigfoot is living in my shower drain.
Sometimes for fun I won’t unplug the Shower Mushroom, and I can pretend I’m a sailor on a sinking submarine.
Heh heh this group is on fire today, getting some good laughs.
i get more hair growing out of my ears than top of head.
Thank God for that. Literally.
Far better to throw them away over “smart mistakes” I guess.
yessir
When do ‘Stupid Mistakes’ become ‘Bad Choices’ that reflect who you are??
I worked in prison and inmates will tell you that all their crimes were ‘stupid mistakes’.
There is a line, not saying JA has reached it yet, but I wouldn’t give him a pass just yet either.
GM!
FTP!
SKOL!
and…. FTP!
I watched some college football yesterday, and while AZ State put up a very good fight, the better team won. I am also a fan of how the college game handles OT. The NFL really should change the shit system they have in place, and adopt what the college game does.
Happy Thorsday!

The question I have is how much more room on the leash do you have?
Reckless speeding for a dog emergency last year.
DUI this year.
I fully expect a third event this off-season.
He’s definitely a good #2 receiver.
Depends how many TDs he has in the Super Bowl…
hahahaha
I believe the Vikings could beat the Lions for the number one seed.
I would not put any money on it, and I am not particular expecting it. But I believe it is possible.
It is hard to explain the cognitive dissonance of it. Yet, I am pretty mellow about it, not too up or down about the game.
‘It is hard to explain the cognitive dissonance of it’
Viking fans know this intimately. Being capable of something is not the same thing as accomplishing that thing.
Which is why we have learned to ‘hope for the best but expect the worst’.
I put it around…
Lions 55 percent chance to win
Vikings 45 percent chance
It might be the kind of game that can get ugly for a team via turnovers. Bad idea to give the Lions extra possessions, but it is also not a good idea to give us extra possessions either.
I basically put everything on the table.
Could be a shootout.
Could be a blowout.
Aaron Jones needs to hold on to the football. Harry will get a pick to possibly end his home, regular season, career.
AJ slowed down a bit from earlier in the season, but if he holds onto the ball, I still like our RB situation better than the Dalvin Cook years.
Cook would start the year out as a stood, but man, he would fade in the back of the season.
I always thought they shouldn’t even play Cook until like week 8.
At least you take a stand and are not wishy-washy about it.
Dang straight!
Unless crooked…
Same here. Even if we do lose, I don’t see any reason why the Vikings wouldn’t blow through the playoffs. There isn’t a team that they aren’t capable of beating.
I think that is why I’m mellow. I don’t necessarily think it is the end of the world if we lose. As long as we get out of it injury-free, we are still in the dance.
He has 3 more years on his contract. They have at least 2 years before they should even consider getting rid of him unless he becomes a major pain in the ass or somebody offers them 3 firsts.
I agree, you have a playmaker for a little over a $million a year, you don’t ship that away unless someone gives you an insane offer.
Same with all this Vikings might trade JJ talk. That would be asinine no matter what they do with Sam.
