Two big games tomorrow. I know most people are rooting for Buffalo/Washington. I would very much like to see that as well. I am also fine if the Swifties get their third in a row, provided they earn it and are not gifted by poor officiating. Nothing crazy on the Vikings front. Just lots of rampant speculation that makes zero sense. I still expect the QB room to be JJ/Jones/Rypien. Anything other than that just seems silly.

Everything’s just hanging from the ceiling above the pickup waiting for me. All I have to do is hop in the bed of my pickup, grab the icehouse, floor, auger, and gear case off the hooks & hit the road.
During the summer, I move the icehouse to the shop and hang the tent and all that shit above the pickup. Great system, very efficient.
With this new house I don’t have much space above the vehicles in the garage.
Due to the ‘great room’ the ceiling is much reduced,
Right now that room is stuff we haven’t got to unpack yet since the move. Eventually it will be a man cave/work room/3rd bedroom. It is a work in progress without much work lately.
I’m building some cool stuff over at the shop. Kiddo and I are thinking of creating a space up in the loft where we can build an 8′ by 4′ Lego city.

I go with gaming laptops or desktops. The graphics upgrade is nice.
I normally go for 1 tier below top end or get something that was hot last year.
Saves me a lot of money, and I end up getting 5 years instead of 6 out of it normally.
I have had plenty of Dell machines through different jobs. Rarely had any issues.
I love the Latitude, had very few problems with them. Used them at my corporate job, so that’s what I’ve bought for my wife & I for our own business. My old one worked great until it just got old, I used it far longer than I should have.

Crazy weekend, got the flooded basement issue managed, have de-humidifiers running & heaters on in the house to keep things above freezing. Plumber/electrician folks coming Monday to install a new boiler system, hoping to salvage the rest of the plumbing by keeping the whole house from freezing.
Glad you don’t have to pay for the new boiler.
I assume that since it needs to be replaced it wasn’t sabotage by the old squatters.
It was done by someone. A pipe “burst”, but it was a clean break, so I’m 99% sure it was done by someone. The boiler was just an old piece of shit and had been submerged in over a foot of water, so it’s shot now. I don’t think the boiler failed until after the water issue.
Eagles defense making things very hard on the Redskins. Tough sledding so far. Hopefully they tire out or something.

If Sam leaves, via FA or Sign and Trade, and Danny gets an offer that is too rich for us for a backup QB then we will need to look at other options.

In KOC’s offense you need to be able to throw the ball, would much much rather stick with Mullens.
I didn’t think/say it was a good idea, any more the Dooby was. The Pastronaut was an emergency hire and a backup QB for next year would not be.
It would be down to KOC to decide who will work for our Offense. Mullins is serviceable, D. Jones could be good, Rypien? who knows, maybe 3rd QB?

Great offenses have great O-lines. Period. No offense can be good without a solid front. Whether our front office can deliver on that, remains to be seen. We have two great offensive tackles. Our center and guards have been a weak point, somewhat consistently, for a long time.
Well, KCs offensive line isn’t that great. I guess if you have a generational QB you can get by with an average to below average offensive line.
No.. completely wrong. During KC’s Super Bowl where the Bucs beat them, their offensive line was decimated, and their generational QB got his ass kicked all day, and they scored 9 points. Immediately in the off season, Andy Reid went out and rebuilt their line. KC’s O-line has been at the top of the league since Mahomes has been there.
What about this year?

There’s tons of ref mistakes every game, we just notice (and remember) the ones that F the team we’re rooting for. And the 50-50 calls the popular teams/players get stick out like a sore thumb with the plethora of HD cameras at each game.

Now Dr John Lott has advised us that FBI data used to report on changes in crime rates, is “less reliable” than in the past.

The Bureau of Justice Statistics, by contrast, uses its annual National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) to ask 240,000 people a year whether they have been victims of a crime. The NCVS is used to estimate total crime (reported and unreported). The survey indicates that only 42% of violent crimes and 32% of property crimes were reported in 2022.
Since 2020, the FBI’s number of reported crimes and the NCVS’s number of total crimes have gone in opposite directions. For example, between 2021 and 2022, the FBI showed a 2.1% drop in violent crime, but the NCVS showed an increase of 29.3%. In 2023, the FBI quietly revised their number from a 2.1% drop, to a 4.6% increase in crime rates in 2022. That was never reported though.
The media made a big deal about the FBI’s reports of lower crime rates under Biden. When Trump claimed crime was rising dramatically in his debate with Biden, the media (using FBI statistical data) claimed Trump was mistating the truth to the American people.

The left has used race as a weapon and a “guilt trip” for decades. “It’s racist” is their rallying cry. On a personal and political note, I am extremely disappointed that Trump has changed is stance on the H1-B visa issue. This is an issue that is very important to me, spending over 30 years as an independent contractor for IT / Software things.
In 2016 he limited the number of visas allowed. Now, after taking huge sums of money from Elon and other big companies, he has changed his stance.
There is absolutely no shortage of US talent for the positions needed.
The only purpose of this type of visa, is to allow companies to outsource jobs for very cheap labor.
Over the 30 years of dealing with this, the number of visas allowed has and does directly impact my personal bill rate, and the salaries of full time jobs I would be interested in.
I hate politics.

He had a one year contract. The Vikings are out of the woods now fiscally, paying for a QB. No more residual Cousins money, and Sam’s $10M to deal with. They have McCarthy on a cheap rookie contract and whatever they will be paying Daniel Jones for the next three seasons. The era of the “affordable” QB begins.

Yeah. They still have the “prevent defense” mentality that takes no risks when they are up big. Some say that’s Flores.
I tend to think it’s KOC’s call, given that the offense does the same thing. I think KOC calls the “no gambles. play it safe” mode.
Of course to be honest if we were up big and continued to be aggressive and that backfired we would complain just as loudly.
Certainly the Lions very strong O-line took care of his pressure packages and provided good protection for Goff. They used that impressive O-line, and talent, to score 31 on us twice. Flores’ scheme is pretty damn good, but in the end, it’s not just the X’s and O’s. You still need the Jimmies and Joe’s to pull it off.
