Another day along in this off-season, the slow news cycle has begun for we Vikings fans. There will still be plenty of Superb Owl hype and news, but for us, it will be few and far between until March 12 at 3:00 pm central time, which is the beginning of the new league year. That’s over a month from now, thank God for ice fishing.
Vikings News
From Vikings.com, seven Vikings were named to the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl games. They also look at the wide receivers group in their 2024 positional group recap. In the Monday Morning Mailbag, they answer questions about the O-line and KOC’s extension.
NFL News
At NFL.com, they look at five factors that will determine Super Bowl LIX. They spelled licks wrong. Pete Carroll will build the Raiders around the QB position with Tom Brady’s help, and in Pittsburgh, it is Rooney’s ‘preference’ that they bring back Fields or Wilson and he backs Tomlin. Can he back Tomlin AND prefer that they bring back Fields or Wilson? Hmmmmmmm…….
From CBS Sports, Aaron Glenn is non-committal about Aaron Rodgers’ future with the Jets. I’m sure he is, since Aaron Rodgers is non-committal about his future in the NFL. Apparently, there are some people who think the Bills should fire Sean McDermott and a journalist needs to tell them that would be a bad idea.
Media Selection
I guess someone at ESPN really thinks the Vikings are bringing Sam Darnold back. I can’t imagine this happening. You have a team primed for a deep playoff run, and Darnold just showed everyone how he will perform on the big stage. But hey, what do I know?
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another
saw this today at a pawnshop, I was looking for more baseball and football cards. Signed by Dalvin Cook, they want $300. I might go back and haggle, or maybe try to trade it for something.
They also had this motorcycle, I think it’s a 1979 Yamaha, looks to be in good shape. I’m not a motorcycle guy, but it looks fun.
It does fit into your ‘drive fast and take chances’ mantra.
I’m much more comfortable on a horse, tbh.
The Kiddo would love it no doubt.
If he survived of course.
I had a chance to buy a large Tombstone Movie Poster (framed) with signatures of the 4 main characters back in 1999.
I had just gotten out of the Army and was still getting set up and so talked myself out of it. No real reason to have it other than I thought it was a great movie. It probably would cost 10x now what I would have paid for it then.
Collectibles are fun.
They can be.
Profitable to if done right.
New cigar, first time I’ve tried this brand
I have to take that flag in to be disposed of. I found it in an abandoned property, it was all torn to shit, was a bitch to get folded correctly.
My nieces Girls Scout Troop held a retirement ceremony for some old flags that I attended.
Think they burned them afterwards, not entire sure as it was awhile ago.
The VFW takes them, you just have to have them folded properly or I heard they’ll bitch at you. Between the Boy Scouts & the army., I know how to fold them.
Yes I have had that duty a few dozen times, taking down the flag at retreat.
Yum. In the hot tub with a cigar and some coffee, it doesn’t get much better than that.

Just saw Noem’s first press conference….she came out to the song “One Hot Momma”, you gotta love it.
That’s our song.
She must be sending me a coded message through her press conference.
Message received, Kristi. Message received…
Oh man, now Edge will be jealous!
He had his chance, and he blew it!
He said she blew it, I thought.
Beat me too it.
I thought it would be more like this one
Good song. Let the kids hear it. Kind of a “grass is always greener” song.
Trump in general doesn’t surround himself with ugly women.
News coming out about the NJ drones. They were FAA approved for research purposes.
So WHY was this not released right off the bat and saved all the anxieties.
Previous admin didn’t give an F about the public, I reckon.
Cuz they wanted to research whether any radioactive isotopes were present downwind of a deteriorated container before they researched notifying the masses.
The previous administration wouldn’t know an isotope from a garden carrot.
They were FAA approved for
researchspying purposes.Their going to need a longer lens if they are spying on me…
Hate to break it to you.
But they have everything on you already.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is once again trying to ruin everyone’s fun by targeting another American institution: Groundhog Day.
The organization seeks to do away with Pennsylvania’s tradition of using a groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil to predict whether there will be more winter on the horizon each year, because it is somehow cruel to the animal.
Instead, PETA seeks to replace the famous woodchuck with a vegan option, offering to provide a “reveal cake” each year. If the cake is blue inside, 6 more weeks of winter. If it’s pink inside, an early spring is predicted. They say it’s more accurate, and better than frightening a poor animal every year with crowds of people and fanfare.
This makes me want to try eating a groundhog…
What the fuck is wrong with these people. This is crazy, they are not mistreating old Phil.
in fact, ol phil is probably treated VERY WELL
Not my opinion, but their mindset is, some slaves were treated very well, but they were not free. At this point Phil would die of natural causes before he could be acclimated to live in the wild.
And if he lived in the wild he would already be dead.
You should see my squirrel feeders. My wife was rather dubious when I put in the first one, why attract those rodents? She is now a big fan, as the dogs stare at them out the window all the time and she only has to make soft whispering sounds “get ’em” and the Labs race up and down the creek chasing real or imaginary squirrels.
So cruel of me to feed a family of squirrels for the entertainment of my dogs.
They taste pretty good, just sayin.
Granny thinks so.
Yeah, but the forest animals would be able to better prepare for winter or spring.
Probably lives better than we do
But i thought Groundhog day was a Federal holiday.
What a bunch of nut bars.
Heard something interesting this am listening to “smart” analysts.
Passing is now huge in the NFL. Yet last weekend, Mahomes ‘attempted” 4 passes over 15 yards. For the Eagles, don’t know Hurts numbers, but the Eagles have run for between 200 -300 yards on the ground for over four weeks.
Maybe, just maybe and I like KOC’s offense, we need to really develop a solid running game. Buffalo and the Ravens nun well too.
Teams are running more shell defenses to contain the deep passing game. Also running more nickel as a base defense. This is the evolution of the game, as passing became the foundation of NFL offenses. NFL teams throw the ball more than they run it. A few teams have remained loyal to the running game, knowing that late in the season, outdoors, in bad weather, you have to be able to run the ball. Mahomes has matured, and sees defensive fronts well now. He’s looking at cover 2 and cover 3, and knows the play is to the shorter routes.
Now maybe just maybe. when our offensive line is getting eaten alive by the Lions and Rams, we can ‘calm’ them down by running it.
I don’t care what era you’re in, a strong running game and great defense wins Championships.
The Eagles epitomize this. Best defense in the league, one of the best running games in the league. All they need is for Hurts to not cock it up.
Pass that along to the head shed. Two guards, center, and a nose tackle.
Then let the Lions and Rams come after us.
Yep. That said, pro football is sports entertainment. Four yards and a cloud of dust doesn’t thrill the masses. “Chicks dig the deep ball” as they say.
Hell I love the deep ball too. But I’d rather be playing right now, like the Eagles are, running the hell out of the ball.
Yeah… but we’re not chicks… grin.
Obviously, you can’t even make your own breakfast. Haha
Laughing… touche’
Can I trade one G for a power RB?
One of our G is almost serviceable.
That may work too. Big and strong though.
Amen, I was bitching about that for the last couple years.
I feel like a Peanut Butter Snickers Bar. Might have to go get one. Finally getting my appetite back after living on bananas for a few days.
They make ones with pecans now. I don’t care for pecans myself, give me a Hershey bar with almonds, yum.
I don’t think I’ve seen the Pecan variety. Must not be in their market zone.
Hershey’s Special Dark for me, I love those things.
Go for it.
Did you have a GI bug?
I had two things going on. The weird possible COVID varient.
Then my GI system got messed up from, I think, the workplace banquet earlier in the month. The food was terrible, and I don’t say that lightly. The brisket tasted like it was smoked by cigarettes.
I felt weird after that meal and it started a domino effect on my GI. I can get colitis if my system gets the wrong things put in it. Usually, I am pretty good. It is usually catered meals that cause it.
I definitely do not have an iron stomach. My wife can ingest road kill. I need to be a lot more careful.
Nancy Pelosi sold Nvidia stock worth millions just weeks before DeepSeek caused collapse
How can this not be investigated?
Well since both sides do it I doubt much will be done about it.
The ones who don’t do it might make some noise but not much else.
^this^
I will point out that NVDA is currently trading at 125.65, with a 52 week low of 60.70 and 52 week high January 6 of 153.13. Point being that if you are into market timing (bad strategy) and sat on NVDA January 6th you might be kicking yourself now, but really the average price has been pretty similar last six months, and if you bought a year ago you would still more than double your money (ergo if you bought $2,000,000 in NVDA a year ago you’d be cashing out for millions more)…oh and Uncle Sam would love you to the tune of capital gains tax.
To me that is non news. A lot of people started selling NVDA when it topped 140.
Seems like a good day to eat crow – me that is.
With three weeks left in season proclaimed (proudly) we could win the SB. Also noted if we didn’t, Lions had a good shot. And also noted the Packers when they aren’t shooting themselves in the foot, are very talented and can go far.
Thus, we had the strongest division in football.
Then the playoffs happened and all three promptly got dusted and most of the games weren’t pretty.
No more predictions.
I wouldn’t be all that hard on yourself JR. The fact is, we had a great season, and the Lions were great all year too. The Packers also had a strong year, and had a team that could have made some noise in the playoffs. The Redskins surprised everyone, and got the best of both Tampa and Detroit, before failing miserably against the Eagles. The Packers lost to the Eagles, in their first round, and we lost to the Rams, who then lost to the Eagles. I’d say we were the most disappointing team in the league in our last two games though. We only scored 9 points in each of those games, and pretty much got shellacked. We hit a wall so to speak.
Still, we won 14 games, which was a great run. Now it’s on to McCarthy, and with around $63M in cap space, we can make some moves to improve the lines.
Thanks. But you’d have thought might have been right about one of the three.
It’s un-American to stop making proclamations just because you were wrong. If that were the case Adam Schift wouldn’t have said anything for the last 5 years – but he is till out there, spouting nonsense.
Keep making predictions – Its the American thing to do.
I gave up on predictions awhile ago.
I was so bad at it it felt like I was jinxing my teams by predicting their success.
You now have a new member of the club.
Welcome aboard.
The second best part about predictions is the resulting humor from being wrong!
The best part is being right, of course…
New multi-million dollar casino going up near Grand Forks. @We need more casinos and bars up here@
You have enough people around to support it?
They got more people than trees around there.
#snicker
We’re very thirsty up here, people drink A LOT. I don’t drink at all anymore, but I used to drink my share, your share, and everybody else’s share.
#2 in the nation in alcohol consumption per capita….damn Sconnies….
Alcohol is Anti-freeze for the body I hear.
Definitely required during ND winters.
You’ve got a long ways to go to catch up to us. I think there is a casino for every 40-50 people here.
I think the entirety of Grand Avenue is just one casino after another.
Yeah, you guys have to be the casino capital of the world
Why do old people talk on speakerphone in the middle of a restaurant?
Speaking from experience, because they don’t hear as well and for whatever reason putting the phone up to your ear doesn’t seem to be of much help.
That said, all should leave the phones off.
Air pods are awesome, I use mine A LOT. That way, I can talk on the phone and still do my work.
Have to say that when people are talking on their phones in public, using airpods, it’s annoying. I don’t care about what’s going on in your life, and I don’t want to hear about it while eating at a nice restaurant.
Agreed.
Good manors is out the window. Sometimes you can sit in a nice restaurant and the couples i the next booth act like they are in sports bar watching a game.
Respect others privacy.
The Teacher and I notice when other couples in a restaurant sit at a table together, both on their phones, and basically ignoring each other.
We find it kind of sad.
Sad indeed. We just got back and the. eight of us had seven family dinners, and no cell phones were allowed.
It is sad.
When I meet adult kid(s) for lunch or dinner I have a rule. Phones on the table. If you look at them the offender picks up the tab.
I was kayaking one day & it was absolutely beautiful out, in the 90s & sunny with little wind, very rare up here. A pontoon full of maybe 10 younger folks came rolling by, every damn one of them was staring at their phones, missing a perfect day. Sad.
This isn’t exactly a “nice” restaurant, but they have fantastic breakfast.
So Air Pods reduces the noise from annoying phone conversations in the middle of a restaurant during lunch by 50%?
Yep, they’re great on the airplane too. I wear them even if I’m not using them sometimes, it cancels out the noise around me.
They say the average person that would benefit from hearing aids delays seeking help for an average of seven years after onset of presbyacusis.
Two weeks ago, I bought a pair of backup hearing aids online for $389. Way way cheaper than my store bought ones (Sam’s) but after wearing them for a couple of days my brain basically retrained itself and they would work just fine for the average Joe that doesn’t want to shell out thousands. That being said, if you don’t have hearing aids bluetoothed to your phone, it can be hard to hear what people are saying as the microphones don’t pick up the sound of the speaker on the phone at all so you are just using your native hearing to hear someone with the phone at your ear. So that is when people with hearing aids use speaker phone. My fancy ones have bluetooth…the online ones I would have had to pay another $200 for the bluetooth option.
What?
Sorry couldn’t hear you.
Thanks for thoughtful post.
Sometimes vanity over shadows need.
Of the many parts of my body that are starting to fail, my ears are not one of them….if there a room full of people in our house I will be the only one to hear the car door shut with new arrivals. Happens all the time, in our house or when we are visiting….
The scientist in me finds it fascinating. When I was 8, “they” discovered I couldn’t see the blackboard and was struggling with any lessons on the board. When I first put on my new glasses, I was amazed with what I could see.
Same when I first started wearing hearing aids – birds, leaves rustling, cars, etc…
I know my left hearing aid has been failing for over a year. I went in to the audiologist a year ago and said something isn’t right, I can barely hear anything on the left, she looked in the canal and took a pic, looked like otitis externa but may have just been the canal irritated cuz I was monkeying with the speaker trying to hear better.
Ordered the online ones to see if it was just me or if the hearing aid was actually going bad. I mean it had reached the point I could hear better without one in that ear. Of course they were delayed in shipping so we ended up traveling to Billings before they came. Stopped in at Sam’s again and said something is wrong it needs to be sent off for repair. She checked my hearing, unchanged, cleaned the hearing aid, unchanged, changed out the wire thingy that goes from the behind ear aid to the in ear speaker, BOOM loud loud loud.
TL;DR version my brain had adjusted to not hearing much from the left and recentered where sounds appeared to come from and the volume of sound. For the next 2-3 days I complained intermittently that my left side was way too loud and every sound sounded like it came from my left. Now my brain has adjusted and it sounds normal, wonderful again.
Glad its working for you! I hope I never have to do that, but time will tell.
I hate people that drive with their phone on speaker and held up close to their head. That does not constitute hands free like the city rules say. Either use bluetooth or put the damn phone to your head.
FTFY
I hate people
that drive with their phone on speaker and held up close to their head. That does not constitute hands free like the city rules say.Jags interviewed vikes defensive assistant Daronte Jones yesterday for their DC opening. His name was being floated as our next DC if B-flo got a HC job.
I would think he’d stick around. Who the hell would wanna coach for the Jaguars?
I agree, but it’s still a nice promotion and better pay if he’s offered the job.
Everybody believes they are a “miracle worker.”
I don’t think even Jesus could help that organization.
That is true too!
‘if B-flo got a HC job’
Since it doesn’t look Flo is getting a HC job that is probably a problem for next year.
Yup, looking like B-flo isn’t going anywhere this year, which is good news for the purple.

Good morning all, and SKOL! My wife is down a bit today with a cold, but she still cooked a nice breakfast for me. I told her I could go to the breakfast place down the road, but she insisted. She likes making me breakfast to get the day started.
Yes, I know I am a very lucky man.
Hope she didn’t sneeze into your food.
And good morning back at ya.
Laughing… she’s a good girl. I’m sure she was careful cooking my eggs. Still, I will probably get whatever she has, sooner or later.
There is some weird bug going around that is minor cold that seems to last forever. I have it, and I have been fighting it for two weeks now.
The guy in England who I write my James Bond reviews with reports his wife also has it.
Unfortunately, I added a bout of what I think is food poisoning to mine. I was thinking I was going to have to go to the hospital yesterday with the gross things happening to me, but I turned a slight corner yesterday morning. Hopefully, today goes well.
I certainly hope you feel better soon Wrenage. Colds can definitely linger. She is resting on the couch, drinking ginger ale, and watching old Martha Stewart shows. I’m working on some bills and stuff. I need to run to the store some time today for a few things, and drop the dry cleaning off.
Try and rest, and hopefully you are better in a day or two.
It’s going around. I had that minor cold for like three weeks and then the cough hung around for another month. Drove me crazy. Tried everything but it just rn it’s course – finally.
Glad to hear you are finally over it JR. Hopefully we’re not in for that kind of run, but likely it’s gonna happen.
Supposedly the newest version of Covid acts just like a cold and responds to ‘rest and fluids’ just like a cold. Maybe that is what it is, It is called XEC.
https://www.gohealthuc.com/library/new-covid-variant-symptoms
Could be a COVID variant.
I reckon my wife will catch it next for sure.
The crud you describe went through my family all fall and into Christmas. I periodically tested everyone for COVID, and never had a positive.
“They” say the rapid tests are still effective at identifying the new variants.
My wife had influenza A. She was in bed for a week, and still has a cough, it’s been more than two weeks.
Man… sorry to hear that GF. Hope she gets over it soon.
She’s better, just has a lingering cough. No other symptoms anymore, that first week was a bastard, though. I’m glad kiddo and I didn’t get it, he inherited my insane immune system, thankfully.
I attribute my immune system to all the cow poop fights we used to have.
Trick is finding one old enough so that it was crusted over and you could throw it, but still fresh enough so it would splatter when it hit someone.
Good advice going forward, thanks.
I always try to provide useful advice
Sounds like fun. We just had mini-bike spit fights.
it’s hard to beat the satisfaction of splattering a cow turd on someone’s head
Did she get the flu shot?
Hell no. She didn’t get injected with the plague either.
Yes, clearly one would rather be in bed for a week and coughing for another than get a vaccination.
I was mainly curious if this year’s vaccine had adequately covered the variants.
Yes, because vaccinated people never get sick. Fart noise.
So by your logic, if your wife had suffered severe long term complications of influenza or COVID pneumonia, that was an acceptable outcome versus the minimal side effects of getting the influenza vaccine or mild side effects of the COVID vaccine. If that is your stance, I admire it.
I myself have never missed a day of work due to illness and skated through the COVID pandemic just fine. So for my n of 1 I would say vaccines work just fine.
When I developed asthma, my pulmonologist pushed me to get the Flu vaccine. As I trusted the opinion of doctors, I went along and got the Flu vaccine. Two weeks later I spent 10 days in bed with influenza A. I nearly died and can’t remember most of those 10 days. The following year, thinking I may have already had the Flu when I got the shot, and not wanting to go through it again, I get the flu vaccine. A few weeks later I spend 7 days in bed with influenza B, though not quite as bad as the previous year, but still quite miserable.
The vaccines they roll out every year are a crap shoot and I am 2 for 2 on them not working. I will never get another flu shot or will I ever get the Covid vaccine.
Trust has certainly been broken between the population and the government and medical establishments.
90% of vaccines are good and helpful. People need to make up their won minds about the ones that go into their own bodies.
It is impossible to get the flu from the flu shot. Full stop. The virus is killed and you’re just getting exposed to proteins.
Well, that may be true, but the only two times I have had the Flu is after receiving the flu shots. I guess I am just unlucky that way.
It can happen.
The sickest I have ever been was getting the flu one year, and I got the flu shot that year.
I remember basically crawling to the phone, calling my brother and gasping, “Bring Sprite. Bring ice.”
Good times!
The 1st time I got it, I was pretty much unconscious for 4-5 days. I would wake up take either tylenol or aspirin to contain my fever, which peaked at 105 degrees.
105 is the real deal.
Vaccines done properly, that is true.
Mistakes do happen although they are very rare.
But less and less people trust them to ‘get it right’, and that is mostly on Big Pharma and Gov.
No reason to think the vaccine would’ve done anything to stop it. They surely never lied to us about the Covid vaccine, did they?
The Army required us all to get the flu shot, usually right after a Battalion Run/Formation on a Friday morning.
We all felt like crap by that afternoon/evening and it lasted all weekend. We were ok to work come Monday morning, the Army had that all figured out.
Last time I got a Flu shot I already had The Crud, I was hacking up stuff for months, still not over that crud. I have not gotten the Flu Jab in years nor have I gotten the flu.
I was a medic, I don’t think I ever got an actual flu shot after the first one in basic training. My record said I got it.
If I had had that option back then I certainly would have taken it.
I’m a firm believer in keeping myself in shape and staying healthy to maintain a robust immune system. Most of the people who had problems with Covid were unhealthy and/or fat, same with the flu.
Our medical system is crap, we do nothing to keep people healthy, we’re just really good at waiting until you’re sick and then giving you a bunch of shitty drugs, and forcing vaccinations with numerous side effects, many which are unknown until it’s too late.
Western medicine is good at handling trauma, They have a lot to learn when it comes to maintaining health, they could learn from eastern medicine but they’re too arrogant & are being led around by the nose by big Pharma
Which eastern medicine paradigm are you referring to? Qi balance, acupuncture, herbal medicine, tai chi, cupping, moxibustion?
The fact that they focus more on healing the entire body and keeping it well rather than treating their doctors as mechanics, and waiting for themselves to break down and then going in. Western medicine.sucks at keeping people healthy.
Great points and I’m probably nuts for mentioning this. I ran, lifted and eat well most of my life. Felt good – this is bad part – didn’t go see a doctor from 32 – 49. Saw no need.
I only go in if I break something or can’t get something to quit bleeding
Which does happen, I’m very active
Interestingly, I tore my meniscus and could hardly walk.
I fractured a bone in my ankle a few weeks ago, early December. I’m already running again.
I disagree. I go in for an annual exam even though I feel great, my doctor always makes sure my screening exams and vaccinations are up to date, counsels me on diet, checks lab work, etc…sounds like you are seeing the wrong person.
I started getting a physical every year now. Insurance pays for it. Might as well.
I like seeing my bloodwork, PSA, etc.
Big changes are likely coming down the pipe for prostate cancer screening. More to follow but the studies that have come out in the last three years point to doing MRI in all men with PSA over 3. Significantly reduces the biopsy rate over just doing biopsies on all men with PSA over 4. I for one am excited by that as my PSA is slowly increasing and is just under 4 currently.
If your doctor is telling you to get a bunch of vaccines, I’d say you’re seeing the wrong doctor. I’m in better shape than any of the doctors I’ve visited. I’m not gonna listen to a fat ass trying to tell me how to stay healthy.
I get it, you worship at the altar of pharmaceuticals. I don’t. I believe in keeping myself healthy so that my body can fight off disease.
FWIW and you can call me in the pocket of big pharma (whoever that is) but we medical types are seeing much more serious viral pneumonias in the last five years. Not just COVID but RSV, influenza, etc…more people are hospitalized now for viral pneumonia than for bacterial pneumonia.
For me, the minimal side effects of the flu and covid vaccine are far outweighed by the benefits. I probably get some passive subclinical exposure to people coughing on me at work but 100% believe in the science of vaccines.
I think they guessed correctly this season, have seen little to no flu A in those vaccinated for same.
I’ve been coughed on a lot by people with gnarly looking chest CT’s with viral pneumonia and have so far survived unscathed.
Wives are the best! Congrats!

Circling back to that McCarthy news yesterday — it is interesting he has lost that much mass. His slight build is one thing that concerned me in preseason. And now he is 20 pounds lighter…
Pollyanna take: well, it is not like he can do deadlifts right now…
Negative Nilly take: the amount of mass he has lost seems a bit hinky with the state-of-the-art facility and trainers at the team’s disposal.
I would like to hear what MT thinks of this. Like when AP blew out his knee, I don’t remember him dwindling away that much.
Could not a non-issue. I don’t know. Yet, I am now leaning toward McCarthy not being ready to start at the beginning of the season. Might be the Daniel Jones show.
if i tore my ACL or MCL or whatever he tore, i would GAIN weight…
not fair.
Also, he’s gonna be our day 1 starter
‘ACL or MCL or whatever he tore’
Meniscus if I remember correctly, AKA ‘something in the knee’.
something in the knee region
Good GIF is good.
Could be. JJ better be nimble or our OL makes some major changes, because he is going to get broken in half by DLs if he doesn’t start sprinkling his Cornflakes with roids.
I mean, Jayden Daniels didn’t get broken in half and i would say they are fairly comparable in size? JJ is 6’3 219 (before injury) Daniels is 6’4 210
‘Jayden Daniels didn’t get broken in half’… Yet.
The way he was running around on broken plays I expect him to get nailed pretty hard eventually.
yes, YET is correct.
I hope he does not get seriously injured, he is a lot of fun to watch.
Agreed.
Hopefully Flo will have an effective plan (spy?) to limit him when next we play them.
And JJ is quicker than Daniels. I think he was top 5 of all players at the combine in the 3 cone.
I believe that this is the year we get the O-line right. We are unburdened from the KC contract, have a lot of money to spend and we know what we are looking for in linemen.
‘I believe that this is the year we get the O-line right’
Said every Viking Fan every year for over a decade now.
Absolutely. Did note that teams that go far in playoffs are pretty stout in the lines on both sides of the ball.
Yep, we need big fellas on both sides of the ball.
You think he’ll start day 1 after missing his entire rookie season? Not sure about that…
The process has to start eventually.
If healthy, the sooner the better IMHO.
I know I would, I’d probably eat 2 gallons of ice cream a day.
I remember when I was a kid, getting some birthday money, going to the local market, buying a gallon of ice cream, sneaking it home, and sitting in the back yard and eating it all.
In my defense we never got ‘real ice cream’ in our house. We couldn’t even get imitation Ice cream, not even ice milk. No we got ‘imitation ice milk‘.
True story.
Laughing… man I remember those days. We had 6 kids. We drank powdered milk. Going to McDonald’s once a year was our big treat.
It was much better for us, we only had 5 kids’.
I had 12 brothers and sister growing up. We had powdered milk for cereal most times. When milk would go on sale for cheap my mom would stock up on it and freeze it. So we usually had real milk to drink.
We never missed a meal, as far as I can remember, but sometimes our supper was buttered bread and hot chocolate.
We didn’t miss any meals that I remember but meat was sparse.
Pinto beans figured prominently in our diet, chilli with meat is still a ‘happy meal’ for me.
When canned salmon went on sale we would get salmon loaf. Quite possibly dryer than the Sahara desert.
Funny you mention that. To this day, I prefer salmon and tuna from the can over fresh. It’s what I grew up with.
I know I’m crazy/
I had fresh tuna for the first time last year. It may have been over seared, but it tasted very similar to canned tuna.
Reminds me, we went on a big island tour last week, our meal at the Volcano House had ahi as a side, every single person in the party didn’t want it so I had 9 additional servings. Mind it was just a small dish but I wouldn’t let it go to waste.
For the record the ahi was not very tasty, the stuff you get at the local Foodland Farms deli is much better (also far cheaper than if you get it at the resorts).
We make our own sometimes, we have an ice cream maker for our Kitchen Aid mixer thingy.

I loved doing that with lots of kids around.
They had to crank in order to get some ice cream.
Did it in Military housing once, kids were coming from everywhere.
Told them it was salt ice cream since that is all the saw me add. They lined up to get their turn anyway.
Almost didn’t have enough for us once I doled out a small cups worth to each of them.
Great times.
I was thinking that the knee injury would have a negative effect on his cardio and add weight. The additional weight could be muscle mass or just adding a bit of fat.
That is what happened to me with Plantar Fascitis, less long walks and restricted movement meant more weight. I tried to do more upper body but it did not keep up with loss of aerobic exercise.
Of course I didn’t have access to lots of experts giving personalized advice or state of the art facilities either.
I’ve had this very type of knee injury and year’s later got a knee replacement. It does impact cardio as most of the PT is very knee specific. But, there is a ton of upper body work one can do for strength and mass.
As I recall prior to last season, JJ went on a heavy lifting program and bulked up rather quickly. It’s very common amoungst lifters weight put on rather quickly thru training comes off just as quickly with any type on training interruption.
One would think that he had the time to do PT on his knee and still work weights on his upper body.
But I freely admit that I am ignorant of if/how the two might effect each other.
I certainly did both under the supervision of a PT professional, but not at the level JJ will receive.
Would note from my baseball days. PT’s are very careful with throwing athletes so as to not in any way “mess up” throwing mechanics.
Would guess by summer camp he has thighs like Hercules. After this injury they will wear out your quads.
I read in one take that it is normal to lose muscle mass because the focus is on rehab not strength conditioning.
Since I’m a 5 decade Vikings fan, I’m not optimistic about this development.
That article seemed to be focused on the negative/doom.
Once it said how he ‘needed two surgeries’ I knew the author had a agenda he/she/it wanted to push.
Not saying that there are not issues going on with his recovery, every surgery has some, just the tone of the article played those up.
Yeah, it was a bit of a kick-in-the-pants news-wise.
McCarthy should look like this right now on his upper half.
I hope he doesn’t have a square head like that.
Would a helmet even fit over that thing?
He can get a LEGO helmet.
Can he use one of those without a licensing agreement with the NFL?
Yes, you just tell them that P. Mahomes said it was ok.
True.
They cannot reject the power of the Swifties.
While the OTA’s start in April, training camp doesn’t start till July. McCarthy should be able to “shape up” enough in the next five and half months to be ready to play. The jury is out on how well he will play. Certainly, the OC and HC can simplify the game for him by telling him exactly where to go with the ball after calling the play in his headset. “8 yard stick route to the left side, throw the under (out) to the slot if it’s not there”.
This kind of “pre-read” direction is how rookies get through their first season for the most part, and how they can appear to know exactly what they’re doing.
Thinking after a season of sitting in meetings, planning sessions, etc he would be ahead of the typical rookie in knowledge of the scheme.
He obviously still needs game rebs but KOC has stated that he has a very firm grasp of the offensive scheme.
Having a firm grasp, and executing with precision under the gun, are two different things. Processing in real time, with bodies crashing all around you, takes a lot of time to develop. Remember, Mahomes said he couldn’t read defenses till his 4th year in the league. That’s how complex it is.
Which is why I stated ‘He obviously still needs game rebs’.
AD was a cyborg
Twenty pound weight loss? If true, that doesn’t sound good. It’s normal to lose a little bit of muscle mass due to reduced activity but that should be mitigated by high protein diet. I mean 2-3% loss of body weight not that big of a deal but 20 pounds seems a bit much. Huh.
20 lb loss from a 219 weight is closer to 9% per MIStupid.com

Gotta say I don’t understand why the sports trainers let him lose 9% of lean body weight. Maybe they have some advanced metrics that tell them that he can pivot 7% faster if he lost that much muscle mass. Well we have to have something to pontificate on in the offseason.
Maybe less weight puts less stress on his knee during the recovery process? Could it be that they want the weight to go up as the knee heals?
Just spit balling here.
Maybe he has a flesh eating virus.
That would be exciting, in a horrible manner. And also tragic. But you know, Vikings QBs and their knees… nothing can be ruled out at the moment.
#nojinx
Don’t be speaking that into existence.
Brown Recluse bite?
Started a colon flush regimen?
I was surprised to hear it too. He could continue working out everything but his surgical leg at the same intensity. Unless all 20# came off his leg……….
His first extension with the Vikings should be #1
Agreed.

Off season sucks
Auto rec for off season sucks
This last season was a lot of fun, other than the last couple of weeks.
It could be why the offseason malaise is hitting so hard this year.
Either that or I am old and I no longer remember how boring other off seasons were.
Winning the off-season for the 62 straight year!
