As I’ve mentioned, kiddo and I are sports card nuts. I was a collector when I was a kid, then my collection sat in a box for a couple/few decades, then my son got older & became interested in baseball & football cards, which caused me to dig out my collection. We combined our collections, and are constantly on the lookout for more. I look for bigger collections that I can buy, giving us something to look through. We found a collection over the weekend, some guy was getting rid of his old cards, he probably had 2 or 3 thousand cards. Anyway, we began looking through them, and have found some cool gems in there so far. We found Walter Payton, Marcus Allen, Tommy Kramer, & we have lots more to look through. Here’s a few of the cards we found.

The Bears are in the process of sending a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Rams, in exchange for guard Jonah Jackson.
The trade cannot be processed until the start of the new league year on March 12.
Jackson, 28, has started 61 games over five NFL seasons, which included a Pro Bowl campaign in 2021. He has predominantly played at left guard since being drafted by the Lions where he played for new Bears coach Ben Johnson for four seasons.

I rarely play pull tabs, but I like to stop in once in a while. I stopped on my way home today and put $20 in. I won $10, and put that back in. I won $20, and put that back in. I won $250, then I left.
Once I am ahead I stop playing.
The only money I bet I consider ‘entertainment funds’ that are set aside. Once that is gone, whether it be blackjack, slots, pull tabs or what have you, then I am done.
I put in $20. When that’s gone, I’m done.
That is a decent amount.
It is usually for when I am waiting for The Teacher to get ready for a show or dinner.
I watched a group of guys, that probably shouldn’t have been playing pull tabs in the first place go about $1000 in, one night at the bar. They were to the point they couldn’t afford to stop, they had to clean out the machine to prevent losing it all.
I saw that happen often back when I tended bar. Sad.
A friend who plays a lot, but can afford it, was about $800 deep and there was supposed to be 2- $500 tabs in the machine. they cleaned it out and only got the 1 $500 tab. They went back the next day and the bar owner said the only pull tab left was the one taped up on display and asked if they wanted to play it. They gave him the $2 and sure enough it was the $500 pull tab.
Was in the cities over the weekend to see Adam Ray as Dr. Phil live. Its hard to explain if you haven’t seen it but he does a Dr. Phil Impression and does interviews with other comedians and it always goes raunchy and off the rails, was a great show. But he had TJ Hockinson, JJ McCarthy and Harrison Phillips come out on stage and throw signed footballs and T shirts into the crowd, it was wild because no one knows whats going to happen during the show. He called JJ a “Fucking Retard” to his face because he threw a football into the crowd before the house lights came up, it was hilarious.
JJ is so good he doesn’t need to see his target before he throws the ball, very promising.
He did do some side arm Mahomes style throws and also rifled some from the stage all the way to the back row in the balcony. One came kinda close to me but not close enough. Everyone was having a great time and the players were laughing it up.
Sounds like a great time!
For some reason that reminds me of a story too torrid to tell, something about a tall lanky teenager catching a poster thrown by Miss Nude Canada and having her sign it, only to have that poster turn up in the worst moment possible in the future…

I have a couple of minutes free…
So you have to realize that circa 1980s strip clubs were a popular venue in Canada, and in particular Alberta where there has always been a high ratio of men to women and disposable income thanks to the petroleum industry. So not unusual to go to one of the (thirteen or so) clubs in Edmonton with your buddies, pay $10 cover charge, place packed with pervs, sit at a table and drink beers and cheer on the ladies. The clubs had full nudity (of the ladies, not the pervs).
On the occasion of a birthday party and to celebrate my acceptance into med lab sci leaving my worthless premed major behind, a group of us went to Chez Pierre cabaret one Friday evening. We were all 18 or 19. One of my buddies happened to be dating one of the regular performers so we were considered harmless by the bouncer. As the performers liked tips they would sometimes come over to the tables, chat. I never saw anything like lap dances or invitation for extracurricular activity. It was almost wholesome if you discount the nudity.
Turned out to be some special night, they had “Miss Nude Canada” performing. She comes out, pretty brunette girl, does some athletic moves, music is blaring Aerosmith songs. At the end of her performance, DJ starts playing it up, she will give a signed poster to some lucky guy, lets make some noise! So we are going top shelf, full screaming and making fools of ourselves, she tosses the poster our way, the facts are somewhat disputed, although my recollection is muddled by a few too many Labatt’s Blues. My shorter buddy Doug who was seated next to me swore she had singled him out and that I boxed him out. Nonetheless I made a Lebron style leap and caught the poster, which was her in a typical statuesque nude pose. She then dutifully came over and signed it, “To MT, thanks for cumming, (heart sign) J_____.” Poor thing, I guess she didn’t learn how to spell good.
About six months later I had just started dating a gal who happened to be brunette, same first name, both she and the performer were tall girls, but the performer had some, um, enhancements. You may think I’m FOS, but the following actually happened:
J was coming over for dinner, I’m banging together some pots and pans, the apartment door buzzer jangles, I was thinking oh she is early but it is my buddy Doug referenced above, stopping by to see if I want to go to the library to study. After we visit for a bit, I tell him he needs to make himself scarce, he asks me what I did with the poster, I tell him that I think it is up on the shelf in my hallway closet. He grabs it and comes in and says dude she has the same first name as your gf, they even look alike! Har har c’mon man you need to leave she’ll be here any minute. I’m simmering this and seasoning that, he goes and takes a leak in the bathroom and leaves. I quick check he didn’t splatter piss all over the toilet, and within five minutes J buzzes the door. We visit for a bit, I tell her the meal will be ready and I’ll open a bottle of wine, she asks if she can use my bathroom.
Comes out, and she said uh…nice poster in your bathroom. Turns out Doug had stuck it up with some Scotch tape on the back of the bathroom door.

That sounds like a blast! And your Buddy Doug is a funny fuck lol. So..were they actually the same person or even related or is that just some series wild coincidences? Looks like you were getting attention from the ladies barely in your teens, lucky guy.
Side note, our group did not make it to the clubs in the cities, which im actually Ok with. I know Dream Girls as it was my first club ever and it was full nude but, I also saved my self some money I couldnt really afford to spend. Also, its March and something told me their talent on a Sunday night in March probably isnt that great.
Im having a gal over for supper for a 2nd date this coming Friday if it all works out.
Yeah, those were the days, had some close knit friends and some of us were nuts. Doug was into shrooms and acid and no shit had a full blown mental breakdown right after college (he was a year behind me). I honestly never so much as took a single puff of a joint.
He and another old buddy Cho apparently do a guy’s weekend down in Vegas every year…not my scene (neither of them is married). Cho is the guy that sold his phys therapy clinic business for big big bucks…and Doug tells me he made enough doing taxes for and buying stocks of tar sands companies that he retired five years back. There is a strong likelihood of shady shit there. None of my business.
Both ladies did have the same first name, I’m sure it was a stage name as her last name was something like Pleasant or Flowers. They also resembled one another…but my J was a smart cookie, performing arts major, and her mother was my English prof first year of college.

My Gal (so far) is kinda nerdy, shes an equipment tech, she bounces between both hospitals here and Minot and calibrates things, and works with pace makers and things like that. Some of it was above my head, but, so was my networking stuff with her lol. Thanks man!
It is weirdly satisfying to me to delete gigabytes of junk files off my PC and the server at work. I just streamlined my machine and server folders into organization porn.
I hate that when someone needs a file, and I can’t find it because everyone has cluttered folders with all of their junk files. That motivated me to clean up all of my folders, so I can find stuff almost instantly.
Another thing I hate is when previous users name files something like “41DWGadkisd.”
Name files so humans can read them and know what they are without clicking on them!
I don’t remember 5 being all that smart on Technology so he better use pretty small words.
We had a 15 MB InDesign file for a retirement poster for a guy who retired more than 10 years ago.
Now we don’t!
Now imagine 100s of such files cluttering up 100s of server folders and creating GBs of uselessness.
But not my PC and folders. My PC and folders are full of only relevant files. My computer runs like a well-oiled machine. I can locate files in mere moments!

I also have a ton of read messages that I keep. Not sure how many.
I clean out me e-mail every couple of years.
Still have e-mails from my brother and my Nana, both of whom died decades ago.
I figure they are like a memorial so I keep those and read them occasionally when I am missing them.
I let some stuff collect in email for about two years. Then I cycle the bottom stuff out.
I figure if someone needs me to find a three year old email at some point, we’ve got bigger problems.
I try to do that with my work email.
My wife and I share a personal email…every so often she purges all of the collected emails and then about a month later says, “I can’t find that email from Delta about the companion certificate, did you delete it?”
Can’t live with them, can’t live without them.

Preppers are generally smart people.
If you hoard guns, others will seek them out. You have to be willing to take the next logical step, which is pretty tough if you live within yards of your neighbors.
Well you can A) Stand by and watch them take whatever they want/need or B) You can defend yourself and your family or C) You can go out and take what you want/need from others.
B seems the most logical to me. Don’t advertise what you have and work together with your neighbors if possible, both help.

You have to think of this logically. There is a fall. Food and medicine is scarce. Desperate times create desperate people. One neighbor whispers that they heard that you have guns and ammo to someone they are bartering for food with…some people come knocking with their own guns “politely” asking that you help them out with ammo…next step…even if you stack up bodies like cordwood…in the near future you need food, antibiotics, etc…
If you give up ammo everything they ask they will continue to ask. And when you finally say no, either due to being out or not having any to spare, they will stop asked ‘politely’.
Haha yeah, who would have thought a 50% rise in the markets over 2 years and an increasing money supply now coming to a stop would have any consequences? Along with tariffs and of course certain institutions wanting to punish a certain political party…

Not so prissy this morning. Trade war has begun. 20% of US oil production comes from Canadian exports, principally from Alberta. 80% of US fertilizer production comes from Canadian exports, principally potash from Saskatchewan. Cost of agricultural production, gasoline consumption, and the vast majority of vehicles will be going up. They say a F-150 will now cost $8000 more @maybe a Silverado will stay the same@. S&P has lost $3 trillion so far today.
Yes we have heard the Anti-Tariff talking points.
Other option is to maintain the status quo, DJT is not willing to do that.
I’m still uncertain what we the American people hope to gain from a trade war with Canada.
Maybe the tariffs will be withdrawn tomorrow and it is all swept under the rug. I hope so.
Today is March 4th. If this trade war persists for the next 30 days, I believe a lot of people are going to get hurt way more than I am…so I will just keep my mouth shut. One thing I learned in school was a trade war has no winners.
This will be my last post regarding the trade war starting today for the next 31 days. I’ll revisit with my thoughts on April 4th if we’re still in this mess.

I think I have some of those football cards. I collected for a little bit as a kid.
I remember trading for a Jack Youngbood Rams card once, which was a big deal.
I love the cards. I collected them back in the 60’s, when people did it for fun. i had rookie Carew and Olivia and Brooks Robinson. Also has a lot of early to mid 60’s Yankees.
When I went to college in the 70’s my little brother traded them all for 3 boxes of Girl Scout cookies
