It’s draft time! That’s right, round one of the 2025 NFL draft is happening tonight. After months of the NFL silly season, which felt like years, there will be actual NFL news occuring. Teams will make actual moves that we can talk about instead of reading about rumors that are most likely based not in reality, but created out of thin air in a journalist’s head in order to generate clicks and get people griping on Twitter.
I’m really looking forward to tonight, I am fairly confident/hopeful that Kwesi Adofo-Mensah will have a good draft and build on what appears to be a stellar off-season thus far. He’s improved consistently during his tenure in almost every area of his duties, and while drafting has been the area where he most needs improvement, he has improved each year. Year one was nothing short of abysmal, but he’s learned and has done better.
I’m really not sure what to expect. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Vikings trade back with their first pick, mainly because they only have four picks. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled off a trade in order to add more draft picks. Jordan Addison is the fella I believe could be trade bait, but they could also decide to trade a player in another position group where they are talent rich and deep enough to part with a player without losing a starter. Edge rusher is one group where they have this type of depth. They have Greenard and Van Ginkel, who are both very good players, but they have a very talented young player in Dallas Turner, so they could trade a starter without a drop-off in talent, or at least not a significant drop-off.
Anything can happen, but I have a feeling that there will be lots of excitement and likely some surprises pulled off by the Vikings draft room. It seems they’re doing everything they can to build a team who can make some noise.

The Lions’ Kerby Joseph is now the NFL’s highest paid safety after signing a four-year extension worth $86 million, per NFL.com.
The Chargers and Lions will face off in this year’s hall of fame game, per CBS Sports.
From ESPN, the Titans announced that they’re picking at #1 after considering trade offers. In other words, you can have the pick but you’ll need to sweeten the offer.
