Vikings Discussion
Sam Howell passed his physical, so the trade to bring him to Minnesota is now official. It’ll be interesting to see what KOC can get out of him in the preseason. I watched some tape of him yesterday, and I really like his playing style. His playing style is a bit like Case Keenum, but he looks to have a better arm than Keenum. If KOC can develop his skill-set, he could be a solid QB2.
Rob sent me this the other day, probably the most rational commentary I’ve heard regarding Shadeur Sanders.
Random Thoughts
We got a much needed soaking here in the Greater Dakota yesterday. It’s been dryer than a popcorn fart for the past few years, so the 1+ inches we received was much welcomed. I wonder if the fish will be biting tonight? One way to find out.

Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
Nice range of topics today guys. I didn’t get to check until now. Our annual audit is in full swing.
Real Life sucks sometimes.
Hang in there.
Has Sanders been drafted yet?
Laughing…
One was the other was a UDFA.
The QB was drafted by Cleveland, and their GM and HC did not look happy about it.
The DB was signed after getting an agent saying that having their dad as their agent ‘didn’t work out too well’.
So GF, I was thinking about everyone talking about this being Trump’s 100th day in office, and it made me wonder, how many days have you had this site up? Today we’re over 350 comments, and obviously we talk about whatever we want. It’s been a great forum, and we have you to thank.
Suckup.
Not that anything you said was untrue however.
#grin
I’m not one to take things for granted… grin. GF was the one person who took action, when we were all bitching about the DN site.
‘GF was the one person who took action’
I said everything you said was true.
But that doesn’t mean you aren’t a suckup.
Minnesota people, if you hear of anything, let me know. I’m looking for a used boat motor, preferably a 115 hp. 90 hp would work, too. There are a lot more used motors over there than there are here.
Nice night
What’s with our military? We shot down one of our own jets in Dec and now dropped one off in the ocean. God help us.
Trans pilots and operators doing one last hurrah before they are forcefully removed from service.
Trans/DEI military.
The Wild start at 9:30 eastern.
I will be asleep before opening face off.
Midnight hockey right up there with Clinton’s midnight basketball.
8:30 here, they get down 2 i’m done.
Yeah i get bored watching hocky on TV during day light hours as it is
Was he originally on a two year deal or a one?
we signed him to a 2 year deal last year. so he was going to be a free agent after this year
Van Ginkel signed a two year, $20 million contract with the Vikings. $13 million was guaranteed of which $10 million was fully guaranteed at signing. If on the roster on the 3rd day of the 2025 league year another $3 million was guaranteed.
So we are got him until end of 2026 then?
Yep
I wonder if there are void years associated with this one year extension, to stretch out the cap hit?
5 more minute til kiddo gets home, think we’ll hit the river, it’s beautiful outside.
Try some chase baits, cast. Good luck.
Probably pull jigs with minnows or power bait, both are working right now.
Sounds good, cover some water.
I found Rob (just kidding, he sent me this).

Florida Man!!!
Hi Rob!!
California lawmakers have voted down a measure that would make it a felony to buy 16 and 17-year-olds for sex.
Current state law makes it a misdemeanor for anyone who solicits or engages in prostitution. But Assembly Bill 379 would make two major changes: It would make it a crime for anyone loitering for sex, and it would create a fund to help trafficking survivors.
AB 379 would also make it a felony if an offender solicits sex with a person under the age of 18. Senate Bill 1414, a recently signed California law, currently makes it a felony to purchase or solicit a child 15 years and younger for sex.
So it’s a felony for 15 year olds and under, but not 16 and 17 year olds.
OK, got it.
West coast can drop off in the GD ocean.
Now that my brother has moved back to MN, I concur.
We have a “Walls” that turned a 18 billion surplus into a deficit. Minny, free shit USA.
Where’s my free shit? Oh wait, we don’t have a garden anymore. Never mind.
Look at shit like Minnesota care. Wonder why we attract migrants?
Why do that to the ocean?
LOL, think of the fish kill.
What do you mean, the fish will feast!
Think the fish will look for free food and perish.
Iv been saying this for years and It got two of my past reddit accounts banned lol
You cannot say anything that could be even perceived as the slightest conservative statement there without getting reported/banned. That place is a liberal shithole.
That would just cause liberal refugees to spread throughout the country.
Think the Mild and Pups in for a tough road trip. Hate to be the purveyor of negativity.
That loss in overtime is gonna be hard to overcome for the Wild.
Yep. Needed to take care of business there.
Mild probably, Twolves MIGHT give up the game tomorrow but old and fat Lebron and Luka are not winning that series. Wolves depth and over all talent is greater then LA. I personally believe we’ll be celebrating a series W on Thursday morning
Me too…But “old and fat” are playing some really good basketball so you never know. “Fat” was absolutely out of gas with about 4 minutes to go in the 4th.
Thats the point. They will get theirs, will score, get some bs fowls, do most of the Lakers Scoring for 3 quarters and then its done after that they are gassed. Im personally hoping for a repeat of game 1 where wolves shoot absurd from 3 point line and its not even close.
Me too, I was exhausted after game 4….would much rather relax and enjoy a semi-blowout.
Also just realized I used fowls instead of fouls…im tired
Totally spaced out my snow blower this spring, bought a turkey baster to siphon the gas out of the tank and looked up our to drain the rest out of the carb, should be good to go for the summer until the snow flys again. I just got a new spark plug in it and only used it once so that should be fine.
The Seahawks waived quarterback Jaren Hall, linebacker Michael Dowell, center Michael Novitsky and outside linebacker Kenneth Odumegwu on Tuesday.
Those moves come on the heels of the Seahawk adding 11 players in the 2025 NFL Draft, and with the team expected to sign several more undrafted free agents later in the week before the start of rookie minicamp.
Here’s more for you GrumpyFace
i’m SO GLAD our QB is worried about the playbook not what color he’s painting his nails this week
Or how much bling he has around his neck.
Put that on a banner and hang it up TCO and then print it on a T Shirt.
Looks like Kittle is signing a four-year, $76.4 million extension with the Niners, that includes $40 million guaranteed.
Oooofta, for how injury prone he is lately…thats wow. He his Purdys safety net I spose. Ill be honest I forgot how much Hock is currently making haha
That’s why I predict that Hock will be gone next year
Think they draft one higher up next year then?
I think so, unless they sign a free agent to make a trade.
As it stands right now, they’re going to have a shit load of draft picks next year.
Very true!
That is too much.
I actually had Kittle in fantasy football a couple of seasons, and I was surprised how few points he got me.
Yeah iv been avoiding him the past 2 fantasy seasons.
He’s a stud when healthy. But he plays with complete recklessness and hurts himself a lot. Very physical.
Putting a lot of eggs in a pretty fragile basket
Yikes, that will be regretted in…. 6 months.
Possibly fewer
Some more shots of JJ at TCOPC with some other undrafted players. Not sure who the girl is. Maybe a physical therapist?
here i am, just in a bad mood, wanting to see some great JJ news and now i have to worry about YOU besmirching his LOOKS?
I am your Joker, and you are Batman. Oh wait…JJ is the Joker!
so then who are you, catwoman?
Thinks back to all the times my older brother called me a p*ssy.
Yikes…
i didn’t mean to trigger your trauma.
“Standing ten toes”? I haven’t heard that expression before. Wait a minute, are they saying he has turf toe!
I think it is a poor take on ‘toe the line’ or being lined up with him.
’10 toes on a line’ was a bad term in Prison since it meant that your stance made you vulnerable to sudden attacks by inmates. Needed to be in a bladed defensive stance anytime you are near an inmate.
sounds like the way you guys all talk about me
Buddy of mine sent me a text at 11:30ish this morning saying our South Wal-Mart had bourbons on sale, 1 each per customer. Met up with another friend, I got two bottles of buffalo trace for $22 each (thats like 2014 pricing) and nice repo tequila for $78 after tax. Not a bad steel if I say so myself.
The Trump economy is failing you. Everything is getting worse, and more expensive.
I think the bourbon Market runs on its own accord haha, prices have gone up because of the wealthy buying up all the old stock of allocated and hoarding it, distillers cant keep up with general demand any more and people hoard/buy up everything as soon as it hits the shelves. Bourbon is an all US product, think gas prices and demand are the only thing that really affect its price. Either way, you’re right, I WANT MY CHEAP BOURBON BACK!
They sell booze in Wal-Mart in ND, eh? Not so in MT.
Both supercenters in Bismarck have a liquor store, the one in Mandan does two
Those North Dakotans, always progressive when it comes to vice.
North Dakota’s love booze, we’re a very thirsty bunch
Well, its not IN the Wal-Mart, there’s a liquor store thats separate from the main store, per the law.
We LOVED the Happy Harry’s on North Columbia in Grand Forks, well not loved like we were there every day, but they had a nice selection and nice atmosphere. Plus it was close to the med school.
You go to college in Forks? Yeah Fargo has a few Happy Harrys and iv enjoyed their stock! They have things we cant get here is Bismarck, specifically rums so I try to grab something while im there.
Med school at UND. College was at the U of A, years earlier.
Right on! “whatsoever things are true”
You a Latin minor?
Nope, just a major in Googlology lol. I knew it was Latin but I definitely dont know how to break it down.
America may have just beaten China to the punch in the global minerals race. The U.S. has inked a deal with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), home to some of the richest minerals on Earth. Congo, Rwanda, and the U.S. are shaking hands, hoping for peace, stability, and American access to minerals that power everything from smartphones to missile systems. Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted the signing of a ‘Declaration of Principles’ between Congo and Rwanda. The goal is two-fold: to lay the groundwork for peace and to open the door for economic recovery and regional cooperation around rare minerals like cobalt, copper, and lithium, which China currently dominates. This new partnership could be America’s first real step toward breaking that stranglehold.
That region is a mess. Similar to the Ukraine only with gangs and tribes fighting not Russia.
It is, but working together, the nations are committed to ending the violent gangs, corruption, and criminal activities. Big move for the Region. The citizens there will finally have a real chance for safety, security, and prosperity.
They have been trying to clean up the region for years and it is only getting worse.
I am not sure about us being there makes it better unless we put boots on the ground. We don’t want to get sucked into that mess.
I will hope for the best, ala Ukraine, but I don’t expect much. Hope I am wrong.
Think you’re more right than wrong.
I have some faith in this, based on my somewhat checkered past and engagement in this region.
I was our corporate expert on conflict minerals at my last gig. That place is a fucking mess, the warlords have been ruining that place for decades.
Very true. But warlords can be ended. It’s all about National will in the end, and of course a viable strategy and resources. Warlords win by violence. They end by violence too.
No, they can’t. We need to fix our own country first.
Unfortunately it appears about half the country and a fair amount of the judiciary don’t want to fix our country.
agreed, we can’t even overcome the resistance in our own country, how can we expect to fix other countries when the resistance there will be much stronger?
I think we need to keep our own side of the street clean. Once we can figure out a way to do that, then maybe we can start trying to help others do the same.
So “we” aren’t fixing other countries. We are going to partner with them to fix a very specific problem, that has a very tangible solution.
GF, every warlord in every country can be ended without a single U.S. military member ever setting foot on the ground.
No offense meant, but I believe that is a very naïve statement.
CIA isn’t military and drones don’t have to set foot on the ground to get the job done.
Study the Congo
Just being a smart ass and picking nits on NLNFF’s comment.
Never trust the CIA
Come on now. They always have the best interests of the country at heart and would never choose agency over country. Just ask the Kennedy’s.
Which “country” is the question.
Switzerland, that is where their numbered accounts are.
Doesn’t Israel run the CIA? I think that’s the internet theory I’ve been seeing.
JFK was going to basically disband the agency.
Speaking of the CIA, I found The Agency to be a fun tv show
Been there, GF… I know it’s a mess, but there are definite methods to turn it around. The National leaders are working with us now to do that.
Do you think?
Believe Afganistan is completely tribal and each has its Chieftan. Didn’t we recently spend a few trillion dollars there and the gang is still there and things are as screwed up as ever.
You do realize that politics dramatically limited us in Afghanistan. Trump asked us when he was elected in his first term, what was our strategy to win. Our answer was, we are keeping the terrorists busy in their own country, so they don’t attack ours.
Trump reiterated… what is our strategy to win? The four stars all tried to explain we were keeping the homeland safe, by fighting the bad guys on their own turf.
Trump then told them to end the war and get the hell out of Afghanistan. We drew up plans and went through the hundreds and thousands of actions it would take, and then we began doing it. Then Biden came in, and before we were completely ready, he told us he wanted us to withdraw from Afghanistan on the 4th of July. We simply could not do that safely, and so we missed his deadline. Then he just ordered us to leave overnight, and ended all the planning. Ordered us to go out through Kabul instead of Bagram as we planned, and got people killed.
That said, you are confusing apples and oranges a little here. We can be very successful working with Nations who want bad actors out, and just need some help doing it.
Perhaps, But there are countries that simply aren’t ready in any way shape or form to be “saved.”
And aside, the whole idea we were fighting in Afghanistan to keep the war over there, was pretty weak stuff – good ole Chaney and the boys.
There are lots of countries looking to partner with us, and save their citizens from terrible circumstances.

Despite criticizing President Trump for using the National Guard to deter illegal immigration, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is now using the military to clean up rampant crime in the City of Albuquerque.
Got to clean up her the mess that her woke policies caused somehow.
She claims her use of the National Guard is completely different than what Trump has recommended, but in the end it’s not. She is a politician and talking out of both sides of her mouth is second nature to her.
That city is like a Third World country
Haven’t been to Albuquerque in 30 years. No idea what it’s like now.
We checked it out when doing our western tour looking for our way out of Commifornia.
Thought Albuquerque would be a possibility since it is at altitude so cooler than the rest of New Mexico.
Didn’t take but a day to figure it was not a good place to be.
So the left’s idea of law and order isn’t really working out there, huh?
‘the left’s idea of law and order isn’t really working out there’
Is it working anywhere?
Very astute…
True story, a murder happened about 200 feet away from me one night. Not in the city of Albuquerque, but nearby.
The truck stops were all full, so I pulled onto an interstate offramp and parked my semi so I could sleep. Woke up the next morning, and the on-ramp side was sectioned off with yellow tape, cops everywhere. They asked me if I heard gunshots or anything. I guess the guy in the semi on the on-ramp got killed at about three in the morning.
That was back in the late 90s
Lucky that you didn’t end up being dead.
I didn’t hear a thing, I was out like a light.
Me next, share the needle idc!
How is Randy doing? Don’t see alot.
I think he had cancer but then said he was good after that and has just been laying low. If he had to have a tumor removed he might be going through treatment still.
JJ has a weird face. I want to punch it.
He brought it on himself…with that face!
Have you forgotten this guy?
I just want to punch him in general…
FJBs ‘Don’t’?
Hey MT. Get off here and get to work. We brought you a patient.
Yeah I hear someone fell down and went boom. Cha-ching.
Do you walk around town in the winter and pour water on the sidewalks and in front of business entrances?
He doesn’t need to. Plenty of people fall on their own.
Happens in Bismarck a lot, everybody is drunk here
Some idiot doctors fall climbing over a fence and break their ribs.
Nice thing about rib fractures is they only hurt while you are alive. I still get twinges if I twist the wrong way.
I get cramps to my chest where I separated ribs, right over my heart. I was concerned about a cardiac episode until it happened at the Dr and he checked my heart and said it wasn’t being effected.
Now I can ignore it when it happens knowing it is about my rib injury almost 35 years ago.
My pain is right over my heart, as well. So we’ll both have the big one and think it is just the stupid ribs.
Part of why I work on ‘cardiac improvement’ and getting my ‘resting heart rate’ down, currently 58.
Heart disease is the #1 killer in the US.
I am 58 years old and have a resting heart rate of 62, I guess that is pretty good for someone my size.
At 67 I think I am in decent shape, but I am trying to get better.
I figure that is better then letting myself slide back.
Heart disease has always been the number 1 killer over the last 50+ years anyway.
That won’t change.
It’s just the nature of our body as we age.
Mine is at 60.
I think that’s reasonable for being 63.
Mine was 56 before I got the Crud in 2019, then CoVid and retirement caused to balloon up to mid 60s.
Getting it back to 56 is the goal. I might never get it there but worth the effort even if I don’t succeed.
You know it!
I told the NP to tell you that on the phone but she just gave me a confused look and hung up.
Haha!
Kfey, heading into your home territory. Going to Wishek. I hope I don’t get murdered.
I was last in Wishek to pick up some beer for ice fishing with my Dad back in Feb. Place hasnt really changed. No promises on the stabbing.
I wasn’t actually worried, I always have my 9 mm along
I dont think theres a lot of people I went to school with still living there. Buddy named Phillip who I played sports with took over his Dads ranch thats all I can think of off the top of my head.
today is one of those days where i’m in a TERRIBLE mood and i can’t get out of it.
i’m not feeling well
work is dumb
customers for work are dumber
i didnt sleep great
i’m not arguing with anyone, coming off annoyed I DON’T THINK, but i am tearing everyone a new one in my head
The poor sleep probably main reason for everything. We all have those days my dude. Hope its sunny where you’re at! Power through.
oops i didn’t know there was a swear in there
Ass is just another word for donkey, it is in the Bible and everything.
it has been written
Uhoh you’re gonna go to hell for that Freezy
Have peace my friend.
John 14.27
are you calling yourself Jesus now? trying to be-still peace upon me?!?!
Wow.
You really are pretty cranky.
i am
Well….Jesus lives in my heart. Does that count?
You cranky old bastard?
I can offer a solution.
Grab a firearm, or preferably several. Go to a location where it’s legal to shoot firearms, and put a bunch of lead in the air.
Is that from a show?
no it’s from the radio
Well Plaid.
You can take it out on me. I don’t mind. I’m a machoist!
suck it up buttercup
“Be a man, embrace the suck”
-Ted Glover
How is this different than a normal day for you?
Here, watch this and feel better.
that throw was a td….
that helps
I was at that Tpups game Sunday….THAT was fun. It is hard to determine which is more enjoyable…watching the Tpups win or watching the Lakers lose
Both those home games would have been blasts to be at.
It was an absolute blast, an EXPENSIVE blast, but a blast nonetheless.
I wish we would’ve stayed in town for an extra day so we could’ve watched that one
I hope this doesn’t happen, but if it goes to game seven, I’ll be awfully tempted to buy tickets.
Or you could just go to a game in round 2.
beat me to it
Nah, just get tickets for when they play GS in the next series…DAMMIT bow beat me to it
Even though it is KirkTuesday, there is virtually nothing interesting to post regarding Kirk. I am afraid he will remain the Falcons back up QB and KirkTuesday will simply fade away….that will be a sad day indeed.
Will it be that sad though?
I said that about 3 months ago. There is no starting job in the NFL that Cousins would want. He is getting guaranteed money to sit the bench, and help another QB succeed. He has always been the good guy, the good teammate. He has always taken the high road. He won’t criticize the coach, GM, or owner for any decision they make. He will support them fully, and do his best to help the team win. That is who he is at his core.
Then, if Penix gets injured, or just plain can’t play well at the NFL level, the team can let Cousins return to the starter role, and there is no drama.
Agree.
He might take the Steelers job if given a chance.
Pittsburg could get desperate if The Douche opts to retire.
They’ll sign Rodgers. I’m guessing they’ve already had a verbal agreement in place for a while now.
Probably.
But my points still stands, KC would take that job if he could.
if he wants to start, he’s gonna have to take whatever he can get. He may not even get a starting job until later in the season when somebody gets hurt
Honestly, that’s probably the best option for the Falcons. Keep him on the roster and wait for a team to really need him because of injury or crap play by their QB, a desperate team will give up a lot more.
Hopefully we learned on that post-teddy.
Thankfully, Rick is no longer our general manager.
That is their only option GF, and has been since the day they brought him in.
They have other options, they just aren’t very good
OK, viable option…
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/atlanta-falcons/news/atlanta-falcons-trade-kirk-cousins-minnesota-vikings-nfl-draft/c9bcc5cc9e8e00a5f2f7aa7c
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6315179/2025/04/28/falcons-kirk-cousins-quarterback-needy-teams/
Meh.
He will probably be an exemplary teammate and help Penix become a better QB.
Still fun to see ATL pay way too much for a backup.
Not as bad as what Cleveland has done the last few years.
Still fun.
Got it!
Sweet
Nice!
Awesome!
They had it listed for $300, I talked them down to $275.
Hard to talk them down very far, they hadn’t even put it out on the floor for sale yet, they were saving it for me.
AWESOME!
Awesome!
Really an amazing graphic of how Trump’s comments as he came into office swung the Canadian national election. As an expat, I will just say a 4th consecutive Liberal term is going to hurt Alberta.
Not much difference in the parties in Canada so the election won’t be all that impactful. They can’t win a trade war with the US so all their ‘tough talk’ won’t stop them from coming to the table to deal with Trump.
Having been educated in the Canadian political system and voting in a national and couple of local elections, you are wrong that there is not much difference in political parties. What is your source for that take?
We shall see. Using the words of the WH, this was a national referendum against “Americanization” of Canada and virtually guarantees a stiff upper lip response to tariffs. It would be political suicide (especially if a minority government) for the Liberal party to ignore the polls and come to the bargaining table hat in hand agreeing to in essence become a 51st state.
It would be economic suicide though, not to come to the table and work with Trump. So by all means, pursue a political agenda. For the sake of politics, the Canadien leadership will sacrifice the prosperity of the country, and its citizens, so they can win elections and stay in power.
How stupid are Canadiens???
Brilliant.
We’re going to find out how stupid Americans are come the midterms in our country.
Oh, Americans are really, really stupid. This is already known.
Well almost 50% are anyway.
Yours is a predictable and easy take but I sum it up in a single word – patriotism. We both know which country practically has patriotism written in the Constitution. We both know how the US would respond to similar provocation from a large trading partner ie if China stated that US would become their 24th province.
It is the will of the people to endure unemployment, gutting of the oil, timber, and agricultural industries, and deepen trade relationships with UK and Europe.
What some call stupid others call patriotic. C’est la vie. As I said, four straight Liberal terms is devastating to Alberta. No more sour crude for the Texas and Montana refineries (tariff$$$). Huge carbon taxes.
The will of the people is influenced by politicians who insist, it’s patriotic to not be able to afford a home, gas, or groceries, because of TDS.
Here is one of dozens of YouTube videos explaining it.
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=canada+is+worse
You and kfey are in cahoots. You fuckers. You make me watch a 15 minute video explaining economic challenges in Canada. Not a fucking word about how there is not much difference in the parties in Canada. Next time, support your position with a referenced web page, I can read at least 50 x faster than these plodding YT influencers can talk.
So the real answer is you have no idea what you are talking about. The election won’t be impactful, man you are a genius with these takes.
The situation is the same for both parties. Canadian Economy is in terrible shape, Electorate is currently riled up so neither can react to DJT positively, both have to try to clean up after Trudeau.
Effectively there is little difference between them currently, details sure, but not big picture.
I am happy you recognize my ‘genius’. #grin
I encourage you to listen to this brief take on the situation, this narration really helps me understand the current situation.
I won a bet with my Nephew when he was in HS so he had to read a book of my choosing. This is the book I chose.
He started it and the French blew his mind and he never made it past that. He never made that bet with me again.
#grin
It’s been a long time since I read it. One book I have picked up a dozen times and can never get past about chapter six is Moby Dick. I need to upload it to Kindle and just power through it.
My video was about the US…not Canada lol. Also Mike Rowe isnt an influencer, neither is Theo Vaughn. And Rowe knows his shit.
I was talking about the War & Peace version of vaccine side effects that you had me watch for forty…fucking…minutes of my life that I will never have back.
Oh, you’re still caught up on that huh? lol
You cost him 40 minutes. That’s like 2 grand if it’s covered by Medicare.
I thought they were all liberals up there
I don’t see CON or BQ as liberal. CON party might be a little left of Republican party but in the spectrum of Canadian politics they are far from LIB. NDP which lies a little left of LIB will probably lose party status after the results are tallied, leaving Canada as essentially a two party system for this term.
By my reckoning, to date (since Trump took office in January) some $5T in new business has come into the U.S. This will create tens of thousands of jobs, and tax revenue for the country. The investments are also quite strategic, in that the industry coming in will help us from a critical National Security perspective. We will be producing things in this country like medicines, medical equipment, and infrastructure materials, along with electronic components and computing devices. We are laying a foundation for self sufficiency again, so no country in the world can affect us. Oh yeah, coal and oil are back too, so we will soon be energy independent as well, as we were under Trump’s first administration.
We are safer, more secure, and more prosperous now that we have Trump leading the charge.
Not bad for Hitler 2.0.
Indeed. I personally feel it is the left that is conducting themselves like Hitler and the Nazi’s. The amount of raw misinformation, character assassination, and negative Trump propaganda they push from a completely subservient media is beyond belief. The really dangerous part is their insistence that their political opponents cannot be tolerated, much less supported, and violence is fully endorsed by the political left.
Actually, I think calling him Hitler is an insult to Hitler. Trump is by far worser.
I think it is a favor to Hitler.
Calling someone Hitler now equates to ‘someone I disagree with’.
I will say bringing jobs back to the country is great, especially factory and trade jobs. However, there’s one stipulation I don’t think is being discussed and that’s people who WANT to work those jobs. Going back to the Obama Admin there’s the factories and trades we already DID have were short on workers, with job openings in the 1000s, and they struggled big time to find dedicated full time works to work those jobs. That has not changed in the past 12-15 years. No one wants to go to trade school or work at a factory, despite pay raises, signing bonuses etc. So the jobs will be there but no one will work them. Adding more jobs isnt the full answer. That’s the core problem. Mike Rowe did a podcast recently on this and breaks it down much better then I can but, these Tariffs aren’t a magic bullet to the economy that you think they are. Not yet. There’s more that needs to happen, its step one, many more steps to go.
When people get the fact that they CAN work, have a stable life, buy a home and a car, etc, they will definitely choose that. Especially if we de-incentivize welfare as a way of life. I get the position for sure, but there are millions of people on welfare today, the taxpayers are forced to pay for. Taking away welfare, while offering people the ability to support themselves will work in the long run.
You HOPE thats how they feel. If they arent drugged up, addicted to their phones and wanting to just keep leeching off of the Tax payers, thats easier. How do you reach a person that follows the basic human urge to follow the easiest path? I agree with your position but its easier said than done. Here! I found the 15 minute clip, really interesting conversation. I invite you to listen. Love me Mike Rowe, great human being.
There is a little thing called human nature that hasn’t changed in thousands of years of human existence. Look at Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. It will help you understand.
The problem is those basic needs are being met while leeching off the tax payers. Food, water, shelter, sex ,etc. You dont need to work to get any of those right now. Its going to be shitty food, water, shelter (sex debatable) but it will be there. Correct, for thousands of years, if human are presented with easier or hard paths, they are going to take easy 9/10.
I rest my case… you are right. Without welfare they cannot satisfy basic needs, and thus understand that to survive, they must work.
Im down for it. But holy hell is it going to be hard to get that passed through. Theres decades of broken systems that need to be reformed, thats not going to happen in 3.5 years. I wish it could.
You are not wrong there. The Dems are dependent on the dependency of the weak to maintain their power. They must keep the sheep fed and watered, to maintain a voting base.
I think the Dems would actually like to see cuts to welfare and such because they can scream that the Pubs are killing grandmas and kids and 60% of the country will fall for it.
Damned if you do, damned if you dont
Don’t know Rowe, but the other guy in. the video (can’t think of his name) has been an absolute stud advocate about younger people getting back to trade/factory type jobs. Better work, better pay and benefits, and even better feelings of accomplishment. He’s on national shows quite a bit.
The guy you are talking about is Mike Rowe. The guy from Dirty Jobs.
Yes, thanks. Lots of parents could have saved millions of dollars in education expense if they had listened to him and not sent there kids off to get worthless and unnecessary college degrees.
Theo Vaugh is the comedian, Mike Rowe is who bow stated an the gentlemen you are thinking of.
In today’s society “we’re long in certainty, but we’re very short in understanding”. Absolutely perfect.
Iv enjoyed Mike since I was a kid, I watched dirty jobs every day in the mid 2000s. Would absolutely love to sit down and have a bourbon and cigar with the guy.
You’re not wrong, many people do not want to work anymore. The reason the unemployment rate dropped after Covid it’s because people simply stopped looking for work and weren’t included in as unemployed anymore.
Yup, you got it. You should check out the clip above, really good 15 minute summation.
listening to it now
The number of people we have refuse a good paying job or quit because they refuse to work nights, evenings and/or weekends is astonishing. These are mainly unskilled workers with the opportunity for experience in a field that could get you a 6 digit salary pretty easily and they just say “nah, I’m gonna go flip burgers.”
Then let them pay the consequences of that decision – no food stamps, medicaid etc. Perhaps then they might have a change of mind.
As soon as I post that I get 2 more emails about guys that are quitting because nights and weekends are just too much. Not like these are minimum wage positions either.
Think we have “spoiled the children” a little too much. Time for some tough love.
If they have a weekday 9-5 option you can’t blame them.
Unless they don’t have that option or the option they have has no opportunity for advancement and pays $10 per hour less.
^^^^^This is the way.
Medicaid is the best. Where else can you choose to get cutting edge triage, diagnostics and treatment in the ER and not have to pay a dime of copay or deductible? Thank you taxpayers!
Actually, I’m really happy with our Sanford insurance, other than the cost.
You really need to look into Medicaid. It’s the best!
Since joining the ambulance service, I have a new level of hatred for medicaid and how abused it is. Half our calls are Medicaid that could have driven themselves.
Amen
Just another system thats getting abused by the lazy and uneducated.
You’ll never guess what insurance people with highest no-show rates have…
Where is DOGE when we need it…..
With my n of 3 grandkids, one currently wrapping up first year of college, one a junior to be, and the other a seventh grader to be, it should be interesting to see where their careers go.
interesting and scary in these changing times. The whole AI thing will indeed change the labor picture…hard to understand exactly how though.
I actually enjoy working weekends in the summer. That way, kiddo and I can go do things while everybody else is at work and we have everything to ourselves. There’s never anybody out fishing, except for old retired farts, and there aren’t many of those.
Valid point and that line of thinking needs to change. Sometime back, maybe a couple of decades or so, it became in vogue for everyone to go to college and then get a good office job. Trade and get your hands dirty type jobs perhaps weren’t quite frowned on but certainly weren’t encourage.
Since it will take time for all these new jobs NLV is presenting here, there is adequate time to change the “thinking” about the more manual jobs.
Now, the not wanting to work, shut off or reduce unemployment benefits.
Yup! Agreed, you nailed it. And I myself fell into that trap, I think the way I learn and work is more suited to a trade then an office IT job, but, here I am. Is this admin going to have the balls to start reforming Social Security and unemployment benefits? We will have to see.
That helmet was a great find, Brad! Congrats.
Just went to pick it up, the bastards don’t open till 10 o’clock. Geez, talk about sleeping in.
Saw an article on “way too early” draft projections for next year. First prediction, the Browns take QB Arch Manning with the first pick of the draft.
Man, that Shedeur love faded fast from all these draft pundits.
‘Shedeur love faded fast from all these draft pundits’
Not that shocking considering he was overhyped to begin with.
OK, this guy needs to make the team.
What a name… Tugg Buck. Looks the part, and the scowl on the face is priceless.
The Great Wing Massacre?
They call him massive but a quick search does’t give any measurements.
A friend of mine sent me that, he often gets fooled so I don’t know if it’s legit
I suspect fake but hope it’s not.
He would be great in a short yardage jumbo package.
White House Correspondence Association of media people voted the picture on the left as “Photo of the Year”
Is that because Biden is about to walk right into the fireplace?
Probably just walking without falling is the reason.
This could be the “Photo of the Year”.
Its honestly sad looking at Biden. Was he a good person when he had his wits about him, nope, not at all. But watching any senior who should be in a home, literally losing their ability to be a functioning person is kind of sad. I thought it funny at the time, but, yeah…sad.
It might’ve all been an act, too. Great way to avoid prosecution for the things he’s done.
That might be cynical, but it also might be correct.
Little column A, little column B
Interesting point. I think he looks too lost for it to be fake, personally, but something to consider.
Agreed.
I squarely blame his wife and the WH doctor.
FJB, he is and has always been a POS.
100% correct – a total POS!
They are the main extreme liars, but there are hundreds more people that could shoulder the blame for pretending he is all there (pretty much all members of the media, D’s in congress, the unknowns in power using him as a puppet, etc.)
The doctor that said he gave him “multiple” mental acuity tests and that he was by god a certified genius needs to have his license sanctioned. That is all.
They allowed it to happen, or were threatened to let it happen. The general public will probably never know.
TDS is a hell of a drug.
One thing I wish we had, was someone who could compile a list of all the pre-draft commentary and predictions by the pundits, that ended up being total and utter BS.
Would love a list of these comments and predictions by name, so we can clearly see who is unworthy of listening to. Mel Kiper? Todd McShay? Russini? Florio? Yeah, they and many, many others are all dolts.
Save the time – none of them are any better than most of the folks on this site or in general an average well informed fan.
Actually, that’s my point, grin. These “on air talent” types sit there and prognosticate as if they have inside knowledge, and access that no one else has. The reality is, they simply make stuff up and spout it as gospel to the masses. They are not held accountable, and in fact, year after year, they come out as guru’s and push narratives that are completely baseless.
Most of it is just echoing what somebody else says. They echo each other so much that it becomes the widespread narrative and the “truth”. No GM ever thought Sanders was going top 5, but somebody parroted it on a TV show and they all did so it became inevitable. Just a clear example of how a media narrative can shape the opinion of the masses.
Yep, spot on.
That would be a fun thing to do. Then dust it off a few years later and see how wrong they were
I would guess that 98% of the picks are wrong and they mostly suck at their predictions.
Did anybody predict Tom Brady in round 6 was a great pick?
How many people predicted top 10 QB’s would be great but were busts?
Any prediction is likely just a WAG.
Very little rhyme or reason as to why one player succeeds but others don’t IMO.
actually hold these idiots who get paid to guess who gets picked and where, accountable??
CRAZY!!!!!!
Laughing… indeed
‘list of all the pre-draft commentary and predictions by the pundits, that ended up being total and utter BS’
I don’t think the Interweb/cloud is big enough to hold all that data.
After 15+ years of Vikings fans pointing out that the OL and DL sucked, it’s nice to see that KAM and KOC are finally listening to the fans.
Draft was pretty meh, but KAM addressed the trenches via free agency and there are no real large areas of weakness on the roster. A little weak in the defensive backfield, but I think the strong DL should make the DB’s job easier.
I like where the roster is at today.
Who was that DE we drafted last year? Turner?
I hope he can contribute more this year. I think he was stuck behind some players last season, if my memory is correct. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it isn’t…
well currently, those same players he was stuck behind, are still on the roster and will still be ahead of him…
UNLESS…..
the grasshopper has become the master over this last offseason
It’s almost like we didn’t need to do the trade to pick him then…
At least it is Tuesday, so I know where the blame lies.
We didn’t do the trade to pick Turner.
We did the trade to have the ammo to move UP for a QB, if needed. Since JJ fell to the Vikings, we had an extra 1st round pick.
But hopefully Turner becomes worthy of the 1st round pick status.
Understood.
They did trade though and move up with the second first round pick. I’m fine with it. They didn’t know Greenard and the Gink were going to play at the level they did and even there, those guys are getting older and you still potentially have a stud for the next 10 years. I think he’ll see the field a lot more this year, even without injuries to the other 2.
Agreed.
Plus they have Murphy and now Ingram-Dawkins (ID for short) to train up.
Well to date, he’s an expensive first round pick, who isn’t very prominent in regards to production on the field. First round picks are paid to be first year starters, and yes, impact players.
We’ll see if in his second year, if he evolves into a game changing starter.
He was also behind Jones II who has moved on so he has moved up in the rotation.
Pat Jones II and Jihad Ward are now gone. He may not start, but he will get plenty of playing time, until we trade either Ginkel or Greenard.
Good morning and Skol. We had a nice draft, not great, but nice. It has potential to evolve to either great or sucky, like most other drafts.
When does the season start?
i think rookie mini camps start in a week or two?
