Random Thoughts

I took a one-day break from my property management business yesterday. My wife’s clients needed to re-paint the upstairs of their home prior to closing, and with the chaos and stress in their lives, there was no way they would be able to do it, so my wife and I told them we’d do it for them. The guy is the grandson of the old lady who lived next to us in our old house, and they’re nice people. So, my wife and I were painters yesterday, and we had a really good time, it was a nice break from our usual hustle and bustle. I painted for a living for several years, and I forgot how much I enjoy it. You can completely transform a room in an hour or two.

Vikings Discussion & Sports Chat

Not much NFL news out there, and there really won’t be until training camp starts. I guess Aaron Rodgers might make a decision some day, but other than that, I don’t expect to see anything useful or interesting. The Wolves are bouncing back from a rough game 1 against Golden State. It’s halftime as I write this, and the Wolves are up by 17. Curry is out for the Warriors, and Edwards went out in the first half and wasn’t expected to return, but they just showed him on the court at halftime and it looked like he may try to get back out there. Must’ve rubbed some dirt on it. Go Wolves!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vikings News

You can put away the torches and pitchforks for the moment, the Vikings signed 4 of their 2025 draft picks, per Vikings.com.

Fox Sports lists 5 undrafted players to keep an eye on in Vikings training camp.

The rumor that the Vikings will play overseas in back-to-back weeks this season is gaining lots of steam, per Yahoo Sports.

NFL News

The NFL will be announcing the overseas games and ‘other contests’ prior to the NFL schedule release, from NBC Sports.

CBS Sports looks at the biggest question for each team post-draft.

An illegal immigrant from Ecuador, German Adriano Llangari Inga, is facing several felony and misdemeanor charges for drunk driving last year, which resulted in a crash killing Victoria Eileen Harwell, and hurting her teenage daughter and sister.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Llangari Inga was arrested for criminal vehicular homicide in Minnesota in August 2024. ICE placed a detainer request with the Hennepin County Jail, but the jail released him without notifying ICE about him.

Llangari Inga, who was unlawfully in the U.S. at the time of the crash, originally entered the country in 2016 and was already undergoing removal proceedings.

Alex Pfeiffer, the White House Principal Deputy Communications Director, criticized Democrats for failing to protect the public, saying their inaction allowed an illegal immigrant, who killed a mother while driving drunk and is now on the run, to remain at large.

So he’s arrested for criminal vehicular homicide, has an ICE detainer on him, and the police release him back into the public and fail to notify ICE? Fucking Minnesota Dem’s. They should be sued by the family for $100M.

The 2025 season schedule will be announced in 4 days. I expect the first game of the season will be an away game, and I think it will be against the SeaHawks.

KOC is smart enough and has three years of real time experience running this offense that he’ll make sure McCarthy has play calls that he can execute at a high level. I don’t know what throws are weak points for him (if any) or which plays just don’t set up well for him, but I’m sure KOC knows. Asking a young QB to do things he isn’t really good at is the best way to wreck him. KOC isn’t going to wreck McCarthy.

It ‘could’ work that way.
But we have seen time and time again that it frequently doesn’t.

Hope they get it right this year.

This is perhaps an oddball thought. Clearly JJ is in an excellent position with the coaching and surrounding talent to succeed.
And as you point out, KOC will not put him into positions that aren’t really good. But I wonder, in the long run, if letting him fail some might make him much better off. When things come to easy to early it many times can mean problems down the road. But maybe not – thoughts?

You build from the ground up. Get the foundation set, and let him work on weak points in practice, till they aren’t weak points. No rookie can come in and do everything in his first year. Mahomes couldn’t read defenses till his fourth year in the league. Just stack “reps” as every single QB in the NFL says. Build, and build.

Thanks. Guess baseball pitchers are different. You “learn” by being in tough situations against good hitters and having to make good pitches.

No longer New Vikings Fan

Same with QB’s. The difference is a pitcher has to work against one guy, and a QB has to work against a 11 guys, and has 5 guys to throw the ball to. Much more complex situation. Also no one is between a pitcher and a batter, and no one is trying to take his head off while he’s throwing the ball. It takes a lot of work and rep’s to get to more than just an elemental throw. When I played, I rarely got beyond my primary guy, and I often ran rather than sit in the pocket and work through progressions. Pocket passers have courage, grit, and immense skill in the NFL. The ability to work through progressions while all hell is breaking loose around you is not often appreciated by a fan. I challenge folks to say one thousand one, one thousand two, and see how many things you can process in that time.

Having played both sports I was kind of aware of that.
But more broadly, the idea of learning from failure. I wasn’t necessarily talking about complexity but more so pressure in very difficult situations. Coaches can protect you some. And QB’s like pitchers when you fail in those tough spots, especially early on. you learn a hell of a lot.

The objective is to set the QB up to succeed more than they fail though JR. The Texans did that for C.J. Stroud in his rookie year. Then in year two, as they tried to take the next step with him in making more difficult reads and throws, he slipped a little. This year, I expect Stroud to play better than last year, while also executing more complex play concepts. He went through a little pain last year, and he will gain from it.

KOC can throw McCarthy into the Lion’s den from day one, let him fail a lot, and listen to people call him a bust, or he can set him up to succeed more than he fails. That’s my point.

Yep, repeated, slow-mo footage of dozens of incidences of him acting out of line and it’s a racial thing. I guess the other 75% of the NBA that are his skin color are okay and the refs don’t care about their race? Guy brags about himself being intelligent, too. Sure sounds dumb to me.

It’s about darn time they did this.
Who wants some 24 year old babe screaming at them on the field?

Specifically, Hudson reportedly has been banned from the football facility.

“Two sources at the University of North Carolina tell me that there has been a decision that was made last week by the higher-ups inside the athletic department that had hired Bill Belichick to be the highest paid public employee — not just coach in the state of North Carolina at $10 million a year — and that decision was that Jordon Hudson, she is no longer allowed in the football building,” Torre said. “She is not allowed on the football field.”

My mother has been gone since 2015. None of our kids are able to come home this weekend, so it will be a nice and quiet Mother’s Day. I wouldn’t be surprised if the kids send her (my wife) flowers at work today however. My wife and I have some errands in Eau Claire tonight, so we are going to go out to eat. We generally do not go out to eat on Mother’s Day because everyone else and their monkey are out that day.

Either do a good job, or get fired. Trump merit based methodology at work. Produce or move on.

A liberal biased professor at West Point? Yes, this has been happening for years. We have a large volume of military senior leaders who are very liberal and leftist. The military went woke, especially the Navy. Air Force went South too.

What are some of these military leaders thinking. Recall the CO in Iceland who makes disrespectful comments about Vance the day after he left. You’re going to get fired no matter who the President is.
There must be a major training issue. Even in the private sector, you say something negative publicly about your boss and you’re asking for big trouble – let alone the military.
