Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Team minicamps are coming next week, Aaron Rodgers has finally signed with the Steelers, and sports journalists will FINALLY have something meaningful to write about. For now, we’ll talk about fishing, grilling, and baseball. Kiddo and I went on a nice run around Tom O’Leary golf course last nightm, it’s a shorter run, only 2.5 miles, but lots of hills and it was hot & sunny. We celebrated with a jumbo popcorn from the movie theater afterwards. Yum.
I hope y’all have a great weekend.

Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

”Riots against ICE agents on par with sports championship celebrations….”
”This championship shows people like me can still get ahead despite what’s going on in my country…..”
Sounds like the Lady that won the Aussie Tennis Championship.
Just lefties in NY and Commifornia stirred up by Democruds and Fake News.
The rioters expected to get away with it since that is what happened with FJB.
Play Stupid Games and Win Stupid Prizes.
Newscum was the first quote.
Correct on the second quote.
Cant believe the gaslighting we are currently witnessing. At least that “Maryland Man” was brought home.
I really don’t understand all of this.
Couple of years back, I got a little pissed at a TSA Agent shaking down my wife – a little loud. A supervisor came over to me and said ” if you curse, threaten or any any way touch or intiminate aTSA agent, you can and will be arrested.”
I see people on TV cussing, saying they are going to shoot in the head, and physically pushing ICE Agents. And I would think Ice agents are a long way up the food chain compared to the TSA bubbas.
Can you manage any of us pushing a cop?
Trump and Tom Holman have said that the rioters will be found, arrested and prosecuted. At the time the scene was a little too hectic to round up minor crimes like saying mean things.
It was similar in Prison Riots, you saw something, you noted it. If it was minor you dealt with it later. Its not like the inmates are going to go anywhere.
Well, just a cople of weeks back it was Members of Congress pushing and screaming at ICE Agents. One was a particularly plumb female Congesswomen. Lock her up too.
She was arrested and charged.
You don’t drink. So, if she ever goes to trial i’ll buy you a milk shake.
You can buy me a milk shake at any time for any reason.
I was in the Army and struggling with the weight standards for a bit. A co-worker and I went to lunch and I got a ‘Frostie’ (in my defense it was summer in Alabama) and he said to me ‘You eat milkshakes, no wonder you are fat’. I have not had a milkshake since, even after my marathon when I was 50 lbs lighter.
No clue why they don’t just arrest the dumbasses. Same thing I said about the idiot Dakota Access Pipeline protesters. Shut down my favorite fishing spots for an entire summer, I’ll never forgive them, it’s the reason I will NEVER spend a single penny at Prarie Knights Casino. NEVER. They’ll never get a single penny from me.
They arrested something like 118 of them on the spot.
Can’t arrest a 1000 unless you have all the support in place.
Prioritize the worst ones and get the rest later.
Merry Sunday all.
I did find this article about the Vikings deepest roster spots currently. I was surprised to see CB on the list, but like the author said ‘The title of this article is “crowded roster spots” — not the most elite’
I have to assume Flores is good with it.
Or they are watching the possible cuts, talking price with free agents, keeping an eye on possible upgrades.
They can walk and chew gum at the same time.
That as well.
Why are you posting football content on this political site?
I was bored??
Thanks, everyone.
Natalie was a special kid, lived to be 28 months old, passed away in 2014 (4 months before Eli arrived). She had a heart defect, was on a transplant list but it didn’t happen in time.
Long story, some folks on here were around when it all happened. Seeing her go through it all was beyond anything words can describe.
Grateful that we’ll see her again some day. We celebrate her birthday instead of mourning, it’s still not easy.
I suspect you, and your wife, are stronger people than I am.
I doubt it. Had some really rough years, my struggles with addiction reared their head (I’d been sober 6+ years when my daughter went through all of that). If it wasn’t for my son, I wouldn’t be here. He’s the reason I didn’t go down the toilet completely, very grateful that I’m on the right side of it again.
‘That which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’.
I stand by my statement.
‘you, and your wife are stronger people than I am’.
I remember the DN days. Think you made trips to Childrens Hospital down here. You never want to outlive a child. Life is short and fragile. Keep kiddo engaged with what you know.
spent a lot of time at Children’s in both Minneapolis & Boston.
Happy birthday, kiddo.

Sorry I don’t even have the words.
Condolences does not seem sufficient.
Wrap you in prayers is the best I can do.
Heart goes out to you and your family.
I don’t know the story, but my heart goes out to you GF. Such a sad moment. We have said a prayer for you and your family. Condolences.
I really don’t quite know what to say. But prayers for you and your family.
My Grandmother loved to be 99. She had five children and out lived all of them. At my Mother’s funeral she told me the sadist thing in her life was seeing her children pass before here.
As a parent myself, I can’t imagine. My you be blessed with the fondest of memories.
So sorry Brad.
Somber reminder that sports are just a distraction and entertainment.
Sports are a great distraction. That’s was p***ed me off the most about all the woke crap, it interjected reality into my break from reality.
It’s amazing how much sports have intertwined into my life. After my dad died, I immersed myself into baseball, helped me cope. My dad was a huge baseball fan & got me into baseball at a very young age, it was my way of honoring him. It’s the reason I love baseball to this day.
The day our daughter died was the same day that Zimmer had to start Ponder against the Packers. Ponder played like Ponder, he only threw 1 TD, and it was to Julius Peppers who played for the Packers. I think we had 3 turnovers that game. A fitting ending to the most horrible day of my life.
Unreal.
Got my Masters tickets request entered for the lottery. One of these years I will get to see a round live at Augusta National.
Nice. I’ve never been either. I heard you can only get tickets for one round, and you don’t get to choose what round it is.
Basically yep.
You choose what days you are interested in. Up to two tickets each day.
Needless to say, I put in for two tickets, for all four days. Sit and wait until the end of July to get yes or no.
Also practice rounds available.
Ive been to practice rounds.
Would love to attend real round.
Today I invented the Lasagna Burrito for my lunch.
I had a little bit of leftover Lasagna and some tortillas and presto!
The Teacher calls it a Mexican-Italian Fusion.
Pretty tasty to boot.
#grin
Nice. Sounds great. Might ask the wife to give it a try.
Did you ever try the John Wayne Casserole?
Yes, and I have to say, it was great. That’s man food!
Agreed.
The Teacher and I take turns making dinners and we both enjoy finding new, interesting recipes to mix in with our old favorites.
We just finished off the Lasagna that I made so tonight is her turn. I am already thinking about what I want to make in a few days, checking ingredients to see what we have and what needs to be used up.
We forgive each other if an ‘experiment’ isn’t quite what we hoped.
That is actually very cool. I am not allowed to cook… my wife’s rule. I was a bachelor for 10 years before I married her, and I can actually cook, but in her mind, that’s her domain. She has always wanted me to be brutally honest about anything she makes for me though, because if I pretend I like something, she’ll keep making it. Very practical woman.
The Teacher was required to cook since she was in HS and then again as a Mom with 3 kids. She had stopped enjoying it.
We worked out that I would cook during the week, since she worked, and she would on the weekends, or buy a pizza or some such.
Now she can enjoy it again, we go out or do take out occasionally but healthier, home made items are preferred.
Oh we were at the Commissary yesterday and I noticed that their Roasted Chickens were $8.99, makes Costco $4.99 look that much better.
$4.99 roasted chicken. Gotta love that.
The story of Costco’s $4.99 Roasted Chicken in less than 4m.
Did you add another ingredient to add some flavor?
KOC talked to The Douche out of Professional Courtesy and ‘Out of respect for our friendship and everything’ this offseason.
Glad that nothing else came of it. We will see him on the field in Europe, that is as close as I want the team to be with him/it/whatever.

All, I suffered a heart attack that left me very ill for a while. I am OK, but I have not been online at all. Just wanted to give you an update. I am finally going out to lunch and shopping with my wife today.
Hope you all are doing well.
Figured after a month and the most prolific poster hear was totally absent, something was wrong. Sorry to hear about the heart attack, but hope the recovery is going well and you shortly return to full speed. Get ready for lots of gentle cardio.
Have missed your insightful comments.
Thank you JR. Had some sort of viral infection that caused issues with the outer membrane of my heart. I’m getting back to normal now. Doctor still wants me to be careful of course.
Glad you are still hanging in there.
Keep up the good work.
This place wasn’t the same while you were gone.
Oh, you mean there was no civil discord? Grin.
Thank you SoCal. Definitely taking it one day at a time.
I will just say that Tuesdays were not quite as entertaining.
Or any other days of the week for that matter.
Glad you are up and about.
Maybe watch the Vikings less often. I hear stress can be bad for heart issues.
Then again, your job history makes me think you can handle stress.
Welcome Back!
@Kirk still sucks@
Laughing, thank you Surly. I haven’t kept up with any NFL happenings, other than my wife telling me all about Lamar and the Ravens.
Still three months away from anything meaningful. I expect to hear lots of stories about how great McCarthy is in training camp.
Glad to hear that you are OK! Stay strong, Brother!
Thank you. My wife was very worried, but I made it through. The nurses said I was the least concerned patient they ever had. She told them about some of my history, and they were like… “ahhh sooo…”.
Good to hear you NVF. Keep a low profile for a bit. Listen to Docs. Medication or surgery at all?
Med’s. It was some sort of viral infection in the membrane around the heart. I went back to the doc yesterday, and the infection is gone, and my heart is beating normally. He doesn’t want me to run any marathons, but 9 holes of golf (with a cart) is authorized.
Glad to see you back. Keep getting better.
Thanks VP. Feeling better, and yes, gotta take it one day at a time now.
Holy shit, glad you’re okay. Sorry you had to go shopping.
Yikes.
Hopefully you get back to normal soon.
Thank you DE. Hell getting old and all that. I was pretty sick. I told my wife when it happened I was feeling very bad, and I had an ache in my chest. She called 911. I told her I could drive, but an ambulance got here in about 8 minutes.
She put the word out to friends and family. My brother and his wife came down, and my phone blew up. She had my phone, so she was answering everyone and giving them updates.
‘she was answering everyone and giving them updates’
This is why I told The Teacher that she cannot go before me. I don’t want to deal with all her family’s drama while I am coping with the loss of my partner.
I can certainly understand that SoCal. I want to go first too, but then again I don’t want her to suffer it.
Get better/well!
Thank you Booker. Still on the right side of the dirt for now. Would be a shame if I died and we won the Super Bowl this year.
Blasphemy.
You will see the JJ Dynasty!
Glad to hear you’re doing well, some good news welcome back
Thanks, I always look at it like this… take each day one at a time, and be thankful to God for every one of them.
Yikes!! Scary stuff! Glad you are doing better, we have missed you!
Thank you NoDak… good to be back.
Brad, my thoughts and prayers are with you today. I know this day was a MAJOR life event for you and your family, love you buddy.
Im excited to meet her in Glory
Thanks man, we’re going up to her gravesite later today. I need to get up there more often.
Amazing to think she’d be 13 years old. Time has flown by, and yet, has crawled by slowly.
Happy Birthday Jacksonvike!!
I hope this day is full of fun for you!!
Scientific Studies have proven that the more birthdays you have the longer you live. So having more of them is more better.
We watch Mark Rober’s channel quite a lot, ever since he made the squirrel obstacle course in his back yard. Smart and funny guy.
Happy Saturday. It will be another beautiful day here in the heartland. The high will be in the low 70s. Almost 15 and half hours of daylight. Fresh new growth sprouting on all of the trees. Enjoy your day everyone!
We have mid 90s here today and for the next few days.
It doesn’t bother me as I am used to it and it is a dry heat.
You have a great day as well VP.
Sounds wonderful and you have a great day. Normal for us about mid 90’s with loads of humidity today. but hay, we have great winters.
Thanks. I was just about finished with mowing and a rain shower came along. The section I was working on is a south facing hill, so it can wait a week to get mowed again.
Supposed to start getting really windy here, gusts up to 50 mph tomorrow.
Hang on tight!
50 mph winds in SoCal was like a Tuesday.
