Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Hope everyone enjoys the holiday. Decent weather around here for the fireworks and cookouts. Really slow on the Vikings and NFL news front. In 4 weeks we will be able to talk about how bad the HOF game was.
Question of the Day?
What was your favorite food at July 4th events as a child? Hard to beat spitting watermelon seeds at your siblings, but I have to pick the homemade ice cream with fresh berries.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
Trump talking at the White House 4th of July Picnic prior to signing OBBBA into Law.
Wonder if we will get tired of winning. Doubt it but I am willing to win enough to find out.

Dem’s saying the bill will wreck everyone’s lives, kill a million people, and destroy the country. They think it will be a disaster they can ride to victory politically. It took 16 hours to read it, so it’s a huge bill, but we need Nancy Pelosi to tell us what’s in it… or not.
Libs are saying that the GOP will pay for passing the BBB in the midterm.
I say BS, when the economy booms between now and then the Libs will try to find another ‘crisis’ to blame DJT for.
They will drop the BBB like a hot potato when it is not the loser that they predict.
I must say that not a single prediction they’ve made about anything Trump has done since he was elected has come to pass.
And they ignore each and every one that they get wrong and just move on to the next ‘gloom and doom’ prediction.
Expecting that this time the American people will believe them and take to the streets.
Morons.
Raining here, and supposed to rain till midnight. Probably not gonna see fireworks tonight.
We have had rain off and on today. At least it is making everything wet so less chance of igniting anything.
I see one as a solid CB that evolved.
The other was a was a high draft pick that had his career derailed by injury so far. He is looking to be healthy and back to the form that had him drafted #3 overall.
Wish them both well cause you know you can never have enough quality DBs.

So both guys might be really good, actually. Hope they bring their “A” game.
I shot a nice 85 today. Hit the ball nicely. Wedges were good, but missed three putts I really thought were going in. Se la vie.

More better CBs is a good thing.

Just read ‘Mumble, golf, mumble’.

Favorite food….
Hamburgers and hot dogs.
To my daughter and America!!
Nice that the entire country throws your daughter a Birthday Party.
Burgers and hot dogs were the standard every year, and corn on the cob grilled.
And of course, apple pie and strawberry rhubarb pie.
Something about fresh blueberries and strawberries with home made ice cream always seemed like a special treat. Probably since that was the one time a year we had home made ice cream. Old school style, had to crank.
Hand cranked ice cream is the best-est.
Have to crank if you want some, or haul ice, something to help achieve the goal.
Earned Ice Cream tastes that much sweeter.
We really didn’t see corn on the cob until late July growing up.
We have it in DE starting now.
But C on the C is awesome for sure.
And brats.
I had no idea how good bratwurst could be until I got a smoker.
Got some of those in the freezer, should throw those on the BBQ this weekend.
Yes!
Happy Independence Day! 🎉
You guys have the 4th of July over there???
#snicker
I’ll crack open a cold one later to celebrate this special day with you guys over there, even if we don’t have it here in good ol’ Europe 😊
You don’t have the 4th of July over there?
Then what do you have between the 3rd and the 5th of July??
#grin
Well plaid 😄
Always willing to take a swing at the low hanging fruit*.
*The joke not you.
No kink shaming.
The watermelon was always my favorite 4th of July food as a kid.
Ice cream was my favorite but we didn’t get it all that often on the 4th.
It was usually watermelon and my Dad salted it, must be a southern thing.
Salted watermelon? That sounds strange…
It’s ok,
Just sprinkle some table salt on it.
I’ll give it a try, curious how that will taste.
Let us know what you think.
Will do.
I love it. I still put salt on the watermelon.
If y’all are recommending it, I’ll try it for sure.
The good thing is if you don’t like it just don’t salt the next bite.
Florida = Southern.
That tracks.
My dad was from Southern Kentucky, just north of Tennessee.
Same. Salted tomatoes are also really good.
I also like that. My dad always liked to put sugar on sliced tomatoes. Good stuff.
Yeah, we used to salt watermelon also.
I grew up in Minnesota and we always put salt on the melon. I thought it was a northern thing, as the southerners look at me weird when I do it.
Nope, a Southern thing.

Cool!
Happy Independence Day!
FTP!!
Merry 4th.
And FTP as well.
I’ll drink to that.
We had a gully washer come through last night around midnight. 4.1 inches of rain. At least the sump pump is working.
Was reading about the flooding in Texas.
7 inches of rain over 6 hours and 12-15 inches overall.
Mother Nature showing off on the 4th.
