Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts

3 weeks from this Thursday is the Hall of Fame game. I am sure it will be a bad game again, but at least it signals the start of the TV show that football has become. I watched a bit of golf over the weekend since I wanted a nap, and the golf announcers fawn over Aaron Rodgers as much as the NFL announcers do. Made me happy to see that Max Homa lost, since the announcers informed us several times that he is good friends with Rodgers. To me, that means Max Homa must also be a douche. Speaking of TV shows, the new season of Quarterbacks is on Netflix starting tomorrow. Kirko Tuesday takes on a new meaning tomorrow.

Lots of talk about health issues today…
I just had my 40th HS reunion this weekend.
9 of the 15 were able to attend (2 have passed, 1 is in a care facility).
Of the 9 that were there I would say 6 were in excellent condition….skinny, in-shape bastards making me look bad!

Just returned from Minny. Put my 91 yo father in hospice he lasted about 2 1/2 days. Died on the 4th with his 8 kids present and multiple grand kids. I’ve watched many of dozens of people die, its a bit different phenomenon when a family member. Wake and funeral Wednesday and Thursday.

The downpour helped with the Makoshika fire (park was still closed as of noon yesterday) which I think is just embers at this point but a new fire started up in Sand Creek (to the south). I heard the volunteer firefighters logged 100+ hours to date since the Makoshika fire started on July 1. I think Derby Skol is with WGFD, when he catches up on sleep he can let us know.

Cris Carter, IMO, is way underrated. I put him above Jerry Rice, mostly because Rice had two hall of fame QBs in their prime throwing to him.

My top five are: Moss, Carter, Rice, Megatron and Irving. If you need to win a game that is the order I am going with.

The Chad Johnson story on how he got to the NFL is intriguing. He was considered raw talent throughout his career up to the NFL.

They’ve changed the guidelines from age 50, to age 45, allegedly. I’m no doctor, but I stayed at a Motel 6 once. Like VP, I had my first at age 50, so in 4 years I get another.

They are no big deal whatsoever.

I definitely recommend refrigerating if you are doing the GoLytely prep. That pineapple taste is nauseating if it is room temp.

I actually did my prep during a Vikings game…kinda like having a (8 oz) beer every 15-20 minutes or so. Just drink every time the announcer says, “never in the history of the NFL has a team not had a single (first down, point, positive yardage, etc…) in an entire half”.

For the vast majority of people that are enjoying the propofol dreams they don’t experience this, but as I did it without sedation I clearly remember how quickly liquid went from point A to point B…getting on the table and feeling pressure (I thought it was just lubricant being applied) and honestly thought I was passing liquid right there on the table, being mortified at the thought, and then him calling out “and there’s your cecum” which was when I glanced up at the screen and saw he was already at the far end of my colon. Of course being an oversharer I said oh thank goodness I thought I just pooped on the table…nurse said “it happens”.

Being a grandparent is the best. Your kids will say, don’t let them eat ice cream after 2 pm, you get to say when they are at granddad’s they get to be spoiled, deal with it.
