Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Lots of folks in the sports world are overblowing the Dallas Turner thing. Dude got defrauded, it’s not exactly uncommon these days. Folks is crazy.
Vikings News
The owners of the Vikings and Chiefs donated to the Texas flood recovery efforts, per Fox Sports. According to SI, The Vikings and Wilfs donated $500,000.
Cris Carter responded to Asante Samuel as they continue their online/social media spat, story from SI.com. Another reason I avoid social media.
NFL News
Fox Sports talks about the helmet and uniform changes for 5 teams in 2025.
The NFLPA is appealing the ridiculous arbitrator ruling in their collusion case against the NFL, per Fox Sports. Did you read that ruling? It basically says “we know that the owner’s colluded, but we’re going to rule that they didn’t collude regardless”.
CBS Sports talks about the complexity of the contract dispute between the Commanders and Terry McLaurin.
Media Selection
An interesting video with Randall Carlson. Enjoy!

Saw the best quote today.
“It’s not about Democrats vs Republicans. It’s about Progressive Socialism vs the United States of America”.
Even worse, it’s ultimately about Progressive Communism vs the United States of America. Great quote though, and absolutely spot on.
No politician wants to cut spending.
Republicans Unveil Debt Plan: Transfer Balance To Capital One Credit Card With 0% Intro APR

While I like this commentary, the realist in me knows that every NFL QB can spin it. Even second and third string QB’s. That’s like the first rung of the ladder for QB’s. Even when Lamar Jackson was drafted and everyone said he was just a RB playing QB, he had a strong arm. There is no such thing as a QB in the NFL who can’t throw a football.
He’s talking about his ability to throw while scrambling.
I could throw a ball 40 yards on target while on the run in high school. That isn’t exceptional Bow. Every QB can throw on the run in the NFL. I’m just being very real, and very honest here. QB’s that make it to the NFL are by default, great athletes. That’s just the first rung of the ladder as I said.
I’m not downing McCarthy. I’m saying compared to his peers, they can all throw the ball great, even on the run.
Rec for well placed gif
More self importantance and arrogance I suppose.
Not at all.
I kicked a 52 yard field goal with an Itza Ball when I was 18.
OK
Way different football. -30 points for you.
I had the ability in high school to throw the ball on the run 40 yards accurately. I would expect an NFL QB to be able to do what I could in high school.
I’ve watch a lot of high school football, and almost no high school QB could pull that off.
And you played in the early 70s when it was run first and ball control.
You’ve watched a lot of high school football, and you don’t think I could throw a ball 40 yards on the run.
OK
At practice, sure.
In a game under pressure?
Not as easy peasy as you claim.
I’m not even sure a high school coach would even call a 40 yard bomb on a regular basis. It just doesn’t happen very often. Like barely once a game between both teams.
Laughing… DE, he did it in practice. I said I could do it, and I actually did do it in a real game, more than once. I also completed a pass behind my back in a game too.
Throwing a football isn’t really all that hard.
McCarthy is an apex athlete. Throwing a ball on the run for him is easy. Just as it is for pretty much any QB.
Probably not worth much discussion at the point. I can wait. Give him some field time and see what receivers think.
Here’s something about McCarthy that is exceptional. He can throw a football 61 mph. THAT is something few QB’s can do.
Open next week then camp. Twins suck.
I do not agree with that. Nick Mullens and Case Keenum. Cannot “Spin it”.
Can they throw? sure. Can they throw with force or “zip” when needed? doubtful.
I remember calling Keenum a “Noodle Armed Brett Favre Wanna be”. I stand by that.
Case Keenum is the only quarterback in Division I FBS football history to have passed for more than 5,000 yards in each of three seasons, and the only college player to reach the 20,000-yards plateau in career total offense. He is one of the most prolific passers in collegiate history. He can spin it.
Nick Mullens can also spin it. His problem has always been who he throws the ball to (as in the other team). He has always been a back-up QB, and he has proven he can’t execute an offense at a very high level. That has nothing to do with whether he can throw a football.
BUST!
Clickbait.
If he is fat like Mahomes fat, I will take that!
I’m sure I’m the only one that saw that baby bump and whistled.
Bit of a resemblance there, actually. JJ and I have similar taste in women! That makes him OK in my book.
Have you ever considered a second job as a birthing coach?
My personal laugh was asking a primipara if you could do a cervix check (as in how far they are dilated during labor) and almost universally they roll their eyes, say “again?” and act like you are defiling the Mother Superior, versus asking a multipara the same question and they just splay out and say, “whatever, do what you need to do”. The latter is also the NOYST.
I don’t gamble all that much, but when I see a 78% position on one side, I might have to bet the opposite.
Many more betters in Chicago than in Minn?
I’m sure that the sheer population of Chicago has some effect, but anybody can bet from anywhere in the world.
‘the sheer population of Chicago’
Yep, and there are more people from that population center throughout the world. And the rest of the world hears a lot more of that population center than they do smaller ones.
I still say most of the bettors are NOT Chicago fans.
They are NFL fans betting, and are assuming JJ will suck week#1.
And I still say that they want that to be true over ‘The Crybaby will struggle with a new HC and offense’ because they are biased toward the Bores.
I thought you were saying that people in Chicago and Bears fans, are the ones betting.
I don’t believe that to be the case.
I agree that the thinking of the bettors is that the Crybaby will be better than JJ in year 1. But they are not necessarily Bears fans. Just bettors trying to make money.
More rube Bore fans plus sports betting isn’t legal in Mn.
It should push the line up and make it an even better bet.
So my Cheap $25 bet will change the line?????
So if they lose by 2 points, they don’t cover. If they lose by one point, or win, then they do, right?
If the Bears win by 2 pts, they covered.
If the Bears win by 1 point, or the Vikings win, the other side wins the bet.
Damnit I laughed.
Nice multimeter.
I see former NHLer Tarnasky was cleared of any charges by the RCMP regarding the “fight” on the golf course in Red Deer posted yesterday. However he is being investigated by minor hockey as he is a coach. Probably shouldn’t have punctuated his punches with “BANG BANG BANG”. Heh heh.
I predict he will be sentenced to an apology slap off in classic polite Canadian style…I’m sorry…nothing to be sorry about I’m sorry…no no my fault I’m sorry…no excuse me it was all on me…DUDE DO YOU WANNA GO!!!
Canada is pretty woke.
I can see them ‘letting him go’ from his coaching job.
You can’t really say that putting that douche in his place was ‘self defense’.
Yes, the ever present smart phone camera can be a blessing and a curse. No doubt rushing Tarnasky and re-engaging him after emerging from the water puts the drunk at fault but now you have the question over use of unnecessary force. No camera and it’s the word of two intoxicated individuals over a foursome of less intoxicated individuals.
“Off to a great start there bud” as he emerges dripping from the lake. Hahaha classic Canadian line delivered with the full Ded Reer accent.
The dude kept going at him. I see no issues. He pushed them away plenty. You want to keep coming back, you’re going to get what you deserve.
I really agree with this Bow. The altercation was pretty angry from the start, but the “victim” made it physical by bum rushing the “offender”. Once you initiate a physical confrontation, you get what you get. Even after getting tossed like salad once, he kept being aggressive. He was at fault all along as far as I’m concerned.
“tossed like salad” good thing we aren’t on the old classic DN circa 2015 that would be like chum in the water.
If not tossing it, how else are you supposed to mix a salad?
Do you not like your salad tossed?
This is all the more classic as bowbunch is replying to bowbunch.
You know that was a question for you.
I was hopin’!
That is conservative logic not woke Canadian logic.
Common Sense is becoming less and less common.
Getting fired from a youth coaching job is not the end of the world. If you think what went down on the golf course could not result in the youth coach getting fired in the good ol’ U.S.A. then you’ve not been living in Cali.
‘you’ve not been living in Cali’
I have been and he absolutely would be fired there. Unless the local politicians wanted to protect him vs virtue signaling.
Thanks for proving my point, Calf/Canada runs on woke logic not common sense.
Noooo pleez don’ compare Cali to Canada….aaugh
Cause Canada is colder?
Yes, that’s it. Heh heh.
BAM!
California wants to be communist and Canada actually elected the son of a real communist as PM.
Heh heh I have it built up in my mind now that the guy is a two week on’er two week off’er rig worker and he’s going to show up in Fort Mac to merciless ribbing. “I GOT IT ALL ON REE-CORD”. BANG!
Tarnasky giving him some love taps to show him how it’s gonna go down if he starts throwing Tomahawks is remarkable restraint.
“I’m going to throw you in the lake”. Premonition.
Definitely wins the internet this week.
You’d think a big strong crazy Hocky player could throw a punch hard enough to knock out a drunk that wasn’t even sure what planet he was on, not?
Those were love taps, dumbass. You think if he wanted to KO him he couldn’t? If you think you could take on a former NHL enforcer in a full on brawl on the golf course after you’ve had some beers (how many beers…all of them) please make sure your buddies GET IT ON REE-CORD.
Jeeez calm down, that dude your brother or something MT? It was said partially in jest. And I think he DID want to KO him, I would have if I had that ability. I dont. So no, to your dumb hypothetical. I’ll try not to insult the 5th most popular sport in the Northern Hemisphere in your presence again.
If you pull that stick out of your ass it might help with the constipation.
Georgia police officers shattered the window of a dangerously overheated vehicle, parked in the blistering sun, to rescue two crying toddlers locked inside.
The children had been reportedly waiting for over 40 minutes as temperatures inside the car soared to 117 degrees, as it was parked outside Atlanta’s Cumberland Mall. The two children were approximately 1 and 2 years old.
Police were alerted to the car by a concerned passerby who called them.
This is just a horrific transgression of parental responsibility. Thank God the cops were near enough to get there and smash the window and save these small children.
We MUST defund the police, and get rid of of them.
I remember seeing a post on Facebook or X that told people to “put something important like your purse in the backseat so you don’t forget your kids”.
Wow… let’s put our purse in the backseat so we don’t forget the kids? That’s some commentary on how some people have no business having babies.
Yep.
The mom was probably in a bar day drinking.
And will now sue the police for breaking her window.
Such is society today.
Just terrible. I cannot imagine how those kids were suffering in that car for 40 minutes. Try sitting in your car with the A/C off and windows rolled up, and see how quickly it becomes unbearable.
It was dad.
Man, kids these days, bunch of whiners. Back in my day, you roasted in the hot sun for 80 minutes while shucking peas, and you better not whine about being thirsty when your parents came out of Shorty’s Bar.
Ironically, when the topic of superflu came up yesterday, I was googling to see if Stephen King had made any specific mention of the survival of humanity at the conclusion of his meganovel “The Stand”…which led to a Reddit post where people were musing about what would happen if only 0.6% of humans were left, and one of the comments stated that about 50% of the survivors would die due to the lack of air conditioning (the novel was set in the US summer).
That just makes me spiral into stereotypes of Gen Z…like, “I would die if there was no air conditioning.” There are about 1000 things I would be more frightened of dying from than lack of A/C, two legged things being right at the top.
Did 50% of the people a 100 years ago die (before air conditioning)? I’m convinced that a lot of people that post are Reddit are already brain dead.
I’d say that most of the people that couldn’t survive without AC would not be much of a loss to society.
Kyle Hamilton is considered the best Safety in football by a number of coaches, scouts, and exec’s. We decided to take Cine. This still bugs me.
And in the process help the Lions get Jameson Williams. Not a great first draft for KAM to say the least.
I remember at the time wanting the team to take Hamilton and being shocked that they traded back with Detroit.
Me too. I loved Hamilton’s size and physicality. I was shocked we didn’t take him and made the trade with of all teams, the Lions. Maybe one of the single dumbest draft moves ever.
3 years ago……Ya gotta let it go and move on
Laughing… some things stick with you…
Laughing… indeed Surly. But you’re open and honest about it, and self aware. Kudo’s for that.
You need something to do.
heading to the St Paul Saints game tonight. My sister is in town with her family, there will be 19 of us total going.
I just want to sit back and enjoy some baseball tonight
Wow, 19 people traveling to a baseball game? Nice!
Saints games are awesome! My wife used to live right across the street and we went all the time
that’s very progressive of you, married but living in separate places
lol, it was when we were dating
I remember the Saints pro Hockey Team way back in the day.
I went to a couple of those games.
WHL!!!!!
I believe it was the WHA league.
I syand corrected. Thanks. Didnt the Saints and Winnipeg Jets merge when WHA joimed the NHL?
No. However, the Jets had the honor of beating the Sather coached Oilers (with Gretzky) in the final Avco Cup in 1979…then struggled mightily upon entering the NHL as an expansion team where they were forever pasted by the Oilers like a speed bump in the playoffs.
Watch out for the nun, she’ll massage you into converting!
Good morning, SKOL!

Thursday is Friday for me. Can’t complain about that.
I get a three day weekend as well, except my third is on the back end.
‘my third is on the back end’
Seems like there is a joke opportunity there.
But I am way to classy to swing at that low hanging fruit.
