Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
The team has been dealing with some drama and injuries at practices lately. Hopefully both the drama and injuries are very minor. The team is televising the practice tonight on the local Fox affiliate. I am starved enough for football things that I will probably watch a bit. I am ready for the first preseason game this Saturday. 3 PM kickoff vs Houston. I hope JJ plays at least the entire first half.

I can agree with Stephen A Smith but trying to listen to him makes my head hurt.
I don’t remember anytime I agreed with Stephen A. about anything.
But then I stopped listening to him years ago.
Whoa, Teddy is planning on returning to NFL for 2025 season.

Purple?
^^Great idea!
Backup instead of Howell?
YES!
There’s nothing out there yet about where. There’s some speculation, but not based on any actual information. I think he just decided, so might take a while.
Tampa.
The Browns are signing QB Tyler “Snoop” Huntley, who spent part of last season with Cleveland. With Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel nursing hamstring injuries, and Shedeur Sanders having a sore shoulder, the Browns need another arm. Enter Huntley.

Awesome. Hope he plays a full half.
Maybe just a quarter
Awesome!
OK, this is officially hilarious…
That’s why coaches coach and players play.
I saw this and just busted out laughing. Gotta make the throw after that though. Penix missed him wide right. Might have been laughing too though.
The Vikings have signed TE Nick Vannett and waived T Marcellus Johnson.
Hock insurance?
32 years old, some call him baby Gronk. 11 seasons in the NFL.
Id say insurance because our 6th round tight end has still not participated in camp because of his back injury, its more that then for Hock. Our TE depth is pretty thin so.
Left has a problem with a white girl selling jeans?! Here’s a party that understands priorities. Racist.
The left has identity politics and that’s about it.
Anyone who would vote for a cackles/tampon ticket is alarming as hell.
DEI world. (Didn’t earn it).
And don’t plan too either.
Using a blonde hair, blue eyed, good looking white girl to sell something is a page straight out of the Nazi playbook, duh.
From a company called American Eagle. how dare they.
This is basically their logo

Blond hair, blue eyed, good looking white girl – ahh, brings back memories of my teenage days.
You were a blonde haired, blue eyed, good looking white girl when you were a teenager? I find that hard to believe,,, 🙂
Maybe he ‘identified’ as a ‘blonde haired, blue eyed, good looking white girl’.

Love how Seifert puts out an honest article saying there’s ups and downs to McCarthy’s camp so far, and an Alabama fan writer for Sporting News puts out an article saying reports are that McCarthy is struggling citing only the Seifert article, and other others are quoting the Sporting News article.
How do these guys get paid for writing inaccurate articles about other writers’ articles?
Anyone can be journalist now. Just read someone else’s article, then put your own out based on what you read.
I’m sure McCarthy has thrown his fair share of bad balls, and I’m sure he’s thrown a lot more good balls. I’m sure that will occur in real games too. Ever notice how QB’s never get through a game without an incompletion? Ever? It’s because the defense gets paid too.
If McCarthy runs the offense efficiently and protects the ball, he’ll be very good.
Nice to see some football on tv, evenif preseason so one can make up his own mind.
Clicks are clicks and click equal cash.
That is all that they are concerned about.
Guess Howell looks like hot garbage. Purple on the phone?
Twinks will get swept by Tigers, come home to near empty stadium.
Yeah, that’s what I have read. I haven’t seen him though, so just have to go on someone else’s opinion. That said, Howell didn’t impress me when he played for the Redskins.
I too have a case of the Mondays. Had a fun weekend back at the home town, they had their Rodeo weekend and its the busiest night at the bar with the street dance and all so I offered to help bartend. There were 5 of us behind that bar and we got slammed, I came out with $330 in tips which is pretty damn good in a town of 600 people.
Good news is I leave for Alaska this Thursday through the following Friday. My father very kindly got me onboard for a sea fishing trip of Kodaik Island with him and a another group of guys joining us with the guide. Very much looking forward to it. Hoping to get more Salmon then anything else but even if fishing is poor, being in Alaska for a week is going to be awesome.
Say hi to Kodiak for us……
Have not seen him on here in a hot second
He’s been banned by GF.
Oh shit yeah thats right that was years ago 😂😂
I’m shocked he got banned.
Fishing a charter out of Kodiak? Was up there about 5 times, fished a island close to there called Afognak. Good luck.
Yes sir. I’m not 100% on the exact details but will go with the flow once there. Ill report back more once I know. Thanks! – Just hoping our plane doesn’t flip upside down because there’s a tranny flying it.
We used to go about 3 weeks into August. Fished a inlet and targeted Coho (Silver). Most fighting fish i ever experienced. Spinning gear. He’d strip you and line would go limp. You think you lost it then line tightens on other side of boat. Crazy.
That sounds intense. Only fish iv caught in the past 5 years were some small perch and a few walleye so I’m actually a little anxious to snag one that can actually move me around lol
Silvers are jumpers. Only place i had a fish jump into my boat.
The crew last year caught Rock Fish, Ling Cod, a few Salmon, a couple Octopi…
We fished a inlet, more like a bay. Spawning silvers moving in. Got great shots of Orcas chasing in to feed on them.
That sounds awesome! Enjoy.
Thanks Kathy! If you want some Alaskan Rock Fish or Cod let me know, I have a feeling ill have more then I will know what to do with and im only one man.
Have to air freight that stuff. Not easy.
Yeah I spose not
me today
Jet and Darrisaw my biggest injury concern in camp. Hopefully just being overly cautious. Not sure about Reichard. Not sure if from quad last year or something in head. Maybe both. He had a long season last year in college. Read maybe overexertion. Missed 2 inside 40 Saturday. (wide left but you guys would have guessed that).
We just need to score more TD’s and not require as many FG’s.
On a somber note, last Friday, in our sleepy little town of Anaconda, a psycho walked into a neighborhood bar at 10;30 am and shot and killed the 4 people that were in the bar. The bartender was one of the 4 . She recently retired from oncology nursing and bartended for fun. I worked with her and she was a patient of mine, as was another victim. Strange times.
Sorry to hear you had personal connections with some of the victims. You spose he is holed up somewhere in the Anaconda Pintler wilderness?
That what it sounds like. Busy area this time of year, it rough country.
Terrible, been following the story on-line.
Do they have any idea about motive?
NY Times had some interviews with people that know the shooter, sounds like he is quite the nut job. No known motive.
Sorry to hear. This is happening far too often.
Catch the prick and string him up.
Terrible… deepest condolences. There is evil in this world, and that is why we can never give up our second amendment rights. The only way you stop a bad guy killing people, is with a good guy with a gun.
Can you believe a guy can walk down Madison Avenue in New York City carrying an AR 15 and no one says or does anything.
this is NYC not Tuscan Az.
I was very surprised at that to be honest. Guy walks down the street with an AR out in the open, and no one starts alerting others? I’m 70 years old, and I would have very likely gone after him from pure instinct alone.
In Idaho an 11 year old girl can bring an AR-15, loaded, into the statehouse, no problem.
God I love Idaho.
https://www.foxnews.com/us/idaho-girl-ar-15-gun-state-law#:~:text=An%2011-year-old%20girl,rifle%20slung%20over%20her%20shoulder.
“The best way to stop a ‘bad guy with a gun’ is with a good guy with a gun.”
My wife killed her first deer when she was 11 years old. She is from Texas, a town named Harlingen near the Mexican border. She has been around firearms all her life, and her father taught her how to properly carry a weapon.
Don’t mess with Texas!
My instructor discussed this very scenario in detail…guy walks in a bar with a gun and starts shooting and you have to run. I try to review that every time I am in a restaurant or bar. The overwhelming urge would be to drop and hide or freeze in place but you have to move move move. Certainly not second nature for most people not ex-military or LEO.
As he put it, “I’m going to run out of the bar, grab my pistol from the safe in my truck, and run right back into the bar.” I’ve told my wife, you just run for the nearest exit, don’t give the guy an easy target.
I have thought that if I was in a Mall or a Walmart I would duck down, find something to use as a weapon and ambush the shooter when possible.
I suspect I would have to take a hit to get close enough. But I’m old, better me than some mom or little kid.
I’d like to think I’d know how I’d react, but I am not sure I do.
Mentally going thru your OODA Loop’ prepares you for when stuff happens. We did it constantly in prison. How do we react if/when the prisoners attack?
OODA = Observation, Orientation, Decision, and Action.
Sound advice.
The idea being if you ‘what if’ different situations you can react faster and not freeze with indecision at the wrong time.
I do the same thing when the flight attendants point out the exits and show how to buckle the seatbelt. Plane comes down hard and cabin starts filling with smoke I’m gonna beat feet to the exit and give two shits about my bag or phone.
Coincidentally, so do I.
My instinct is to run to danger. It is what I was trained to do, and I have used lethal force to take down an enemy many times. I would say most people do not have that experience and training. Therefore, I would advise them to do everything they can to raise the alert, while getting away from the situation and taking cover. Hitting 911 on your phone is simple. You can at least do that.
Yes there is evil. I am on the “security team” at our church. Have had push back from other parishioners about firearms in the sanctuary. Well, don’t know what to tell them we are not open carrying. There were no less than 4 armed guys at mass yesterday. Priest was worried about copycats or similar. I’ve got to take a refresher course. Guy in Billings MT, former SEAL has a good one.
It is sad our society has become so violent. People simply worshipping their God shouldn’t have to worry about these kinds of attacks, but they are now a reality.
That’s my instructor.
Our church has at least a couple of armed people at worship every Sunday. We have a security team that is always carrying, and then we ask any church members if they are carrying to please let the security team know. If some whack job opens fire in our church he might get a few but he will be dead in short order.
We have concealed carry on our security team as well.
We also have local police in the building.
If someone opens fire, they won’t last long.
We also have concealed carry in our church security team. Also for our kids going to Sunday School we have a check in, check out system and all the doors to that Sunday School area are locked once they are all in. Sad that it has come to this, but we are becoming more and more like a third world nation.
Same.
Im glad churches are taking the issue seriously.
100% agree: “good guy with a gun”.
Damn. Sorry to hear that Skol.
I was wondering about you MT people when that story came out.
Condolences to you.
Oh no, how awful, so sorry.
RIP Loni Anderson, 79 years young.
Very sad, a beautiful lady.
RIP
Closing in on a plethora of football games Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I don’t expect to see much from the starters in any of the games though.
We may have a kicking problem (again) – Will the Thrill is 13/18 in Camp so far which is not great. And from observations, is missing everything wide left (yay) and even some of his makes are sliding to the left side. This isn’t great, I hope he is actually healed and healthy and this is a mechanical thing he can adjust before the season.
Always the issue. Is it mechanical, or mental?
Chicken or the egg? haha. I hope its not mental.
I wonder who the holder was for the misses, possibly the Aussie holding for those. I actually believe the punter position will be determined by who holds the ball better for field goals.
Good question, Judd did not mention or possibly observe who the holder was. Hopefully as camp goes on and the media is allowed to see a bit more we will get more details.
Another shaky Kicker?
Nope, I was so excited to not have to stress about the average field goal last year and then he got hurt and started missing after he came back. Can’t have nice things.
Maybe is just a little uptight and needs a massage.
Good morning from EDINA !!
Was going to go to the practice tonight, but my brother isn’t interested.
He’s a Carolina fan for some reason.
So let your brother go to a strip joint or a movie or whatever else he wants to do while you go to practice.
My Son, Cowboy fan, wants to meet me in Denver when they play the Broncs, his wife is a Denver fan. I told him I can meet him in Denver but I won’t go to the Buttholeface/Jerry game. I will find something else to do. Then we can meet up after the game.
Mile High is a great venue. Lots to do in LoDo area as well.
curious as to who has been getting injured (yes i read the words above)…besides Justin Jefferson
Right now we have 6 players nursing injuries.
Mekhi Blackmon
C. J. Ham
Justin Jefferson
Christian Darrisaw
T. J. Hockensen
Gavin Bartholomew (PUP)
i’m assuming and hopeful that Darrisaw is still jsut working his way back from his knee and nothing new?
Yeah, CD is working his way back and took some reps recently.
I noticed NLNFV answered a different question then what you asked.
well if those guys are currently injured, i guess he answered it for me.
i hadn’t heaard of anyone but JJ with his hammy being hurt, but i haven’t been following too closely
Jefferson and Hockensen are the ones I was referring to. Minor injuries as far as we know. A few players have been dinged up, but nothing major so far.
I’m injured, I strained my calf the other day been kinda sore but I’m toughing it out
Didn’t know you were a dairy farmer.
did you really?
because i strained mine like a month ago.
you copy cat.
i actually did
My mom told me there is a preseason game Saturday. It appears that is the case, and she wasn’t lying to me.
I don’t think I will get to see it. I have to help shingle the church garage roof. Oh well…there’s always YouTube.
Besides, who doesn’t love shingling?
Roofing in the dead of summer is tough. That’s some hard labor there.
You are a good man, Wrenage.
Would you get as much credit for donating money to the church for a Pro to shingle the roof as you would for climbing up there and risking death by falling?
maybe a jewel or two less in the crown…
No
Depends. Are you an experienced shingler that could save the church significant money by donating time or are you like me, deathly afraid of heights and therefore have limited experience shingling?
I’d be better to donate money, others would be better off donating time.
I am more like you, too old to be up on roofs.
i could help on the ground by fetching and carrying stuff.
Church always interests me.
In order to be in the club, you have to pay 10% AND do the volunteer work.
True.
But the concept of it all still fascinates me.
I thought Jesus loves all with no conditions?
He does. But like we do with our children, He teaches us to be a healthy part of our community, which means helping out others in whatever way we can, be it monetary or physically.
I agree with all of that.
But most churches that I know, won’t fully accept you, unless you meet the tithing threshold.
That’s some messed up thinking by those churches.
Fortunately I’ve never had that issue with any churches that I’ve attended. I know that my in-laws have never given 10%, but they have never been outcasts for it. They however were always giving in other ways by helping out kids that needed a home or giving out clothes to people. Sometimes that 1 coin means a lot more than the large amount given. It has a lot to do with why you give. Giving because you want to help and because you should help means a lot more than giving because you want to be recognized and elevated.
100% VP.
I’d be all for being Amish, if that meant that a crew of hardworking men showed up to do projects on my place whenever I called. What wouldn’t be okay would be if they expected me to reciprocate.
If McLaurin wants out of Washington, we should look at trading Addison for him.
Interesting idea. His cap hit is 25 million. A bit much for wr2
And he’s on the wrong side of 30. Keep Addison. They have him under team control for at least 2 more years.
“Under control” – better pull his drivers license,
“under contract” doesn’t mean much these days in terms of length. Guys piss and moan with 2 or 3 years left on their contract until they are traded or given a raise.
addison is the type that if he has a great year this year, will complain until he gets a raise.
that being said, keep addison haha
