Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
We’re having a great time at the Dells. The weather is being very cooperative, the food is good, and we’ve had a fun, relaxing trip. We’re here until Thursday, then we’re heading for Minneapolis. We’re hitting training camp on Thursday and staying in Red Wing that night. We plan to head back home sometime on Friday, whenever we get done hanging out in Red Wing. I’m looking forward to training camp, it’s always fun seeing the players battling for starting positions and roster spots.
Speaking of roster spots, I wonder if Bosmer is going to snag the QB3 spot from Rypien? I was REALLY impresed with how he played on Saturday, matched the reports coming out of training camp. I’m also curious to watch the secondary, there were some solid performances from guys who are on the bubble.

From NBC Sports, the Nevada Supreme Court blocked arbitration of Jon Gruden’s case against the NFL. This is a huge boost to Gruden’s case. Arbitration is a cute way for corporations to avoid any real consequence for dealing in an unethical manner, it’s a joke.
CBS Sports ranks rookie QB performances from NFL preseason week one.
From ESPN, the Steelers’ Cam Heyward hinted at possibly sitting out reguar season games as he seeks to re-negotiate a contract extension he signed last year.

Woke up this morning thinking it was Wednesday, turns out it is Tuesday 2.0. GF must still be in line for his 2nd trip down the water slide.
Good morning JV and SKOL. Patriots game is 3 days away!
A controversial California Senate bill aimed at bringing more affordable housing to the Pacific Palisades has been put on pause.
The wildfires that swept across Eaton and the Palisades in January burned 40,000 acres. The Palisades Fire alone damaged 6,800 buildings.
Now, efforts to rebuild the community have reached a conflict.
On February 20th, Senate Bill 549 was introduced to the California Legislature. If passed, it would address housing shortages by giving authorities the power to purchase lots where homes were burned down and build low-income housing. The proposal targets areas where Realtor.com reports the median home listing price to be $4.9 million. The bill would supposedly create “Resilient Rebuilding Authorities” funded by property tax collection.
Residents of Pacific Palisades oppose the bill, seeing it as a “land grab.”
Ya think?

Trump wins… again…
A federal appeals court ruled in favor of allowing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to access data from the Department of Education, the Treasury Department, and the Office of Personnel Management after previously being blocked by a lower court in February.
The recent ruling now provides DOGE with “high-level I.T. access” to numerous government databases, Judge Julius N. Richardson stated.
The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued the ruling on Tuesday, rendering a 2-1 decision that grants DOGE access to computer systems across multiple agencies. These systems house sensitive data, including Social Security numbers and individuals’ citizenship status.
Unions, such as the American Federation of Teachers and the National Federation of Federal Employees, have already sued DOGE over access to the information. However, DOGE maintains they need to acquire the information in order to continue rooting out waste, fraud, and overspending in the federal government.
We knew it was coming.
Just thought it would have to get the SC to find a court that wasn’t dominated by activists.
Texas wins…
“ABC13 has confirmed with multiple sources that House Democrats will return to Texas.
Eyewitness News has not confirmed the date, but we do know that Democrats believe they’ve accomplished their mission by killing the first special session and by raising national awareness about the mid-decade redistricting effort.
It is unclear which day they will be in Austin at the Capitol, but they stress that they will push for Hill Country flooding relief to be the priority.
This comes as the House went another session without a quorum on Tuesday, with just 95 members present for the second day in a row. Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows said that assuming there is no quorum on Friday, the session will end, and a new one will begin.”

Took my nephews up to the ‘High Roller’ on top fo the Stratosphere in Vegas to try. Once they got up there they took one look and bailed. I didn’t blame them. The Coaster was built on top of a hotel 1070 feet over the Vegas streets.
Did Summit Plummet in Disney when that was the largest. 25 years ago.
I think that is 20 or 30 feet shorter.
They are fun, but with that kind of wait, I would never do it twice.
Agreed. Not waiting that long to do it again.
But the bragging rights are worth it.
I still have my T Shirt from Summit Plummet……
Did a couple cool ones over at Noah’s Ark yesterday
The Vikings on Tuesday announced they have waived linebacker Brian Asamoah II.
Minnesota also announced receiver Rondale Moore has been placed on Injured Reserve and center Zeke Correll has been waived with an injury designation.
That is a shocker.
KAM was high on Asamoah, and greeted him in their native Ghanaian language when he arrived at the facility after being drafted in 2022. I don’t know if his heritage, which matches KAM’s, had anything to do with being drafted by us, but I never quite bought into him. He’s only 6′ tall and 226 lbs. PFF had him ranked at 187 of 189 LB’s.
Rondale Moore does in fact have e a season-ending injury. Roster move coming. Terrible.
If Brosmer and Howell each get a half how do you judge with personnel?
Can’t, but pretty sure KOC can.
The kickoff shtick is just nonsense.
End it.
Go back to the fun rule.
Beyond stupid. Spot it, 25?
No, we want the possibility of a TD on a kick return, or a long kick return that gives a big chance to score. Also we want the ability to have a no notice or “surprise” onsides kick. The whole experimenting with the kickoff is nonsense. Go back to the way it was.
Heck yes, even make kickoffs back to the 30 and there would be some exciting returns, ala Billie white Shoes and that guy from the Bears a couple of years ago.
Devin Hester?
Cordarelle Patterson
Yes, that’s him. Those guys made kickoffs an offensive weapon.
Laughing, he was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft.
Percy Harvin, too
Special teams is part of the game. Hate to dominate all game and lose on it. I agree, what they are doing is dumb.
No kidding. The NFL is a clown show.
Me and another dude review Weapons. No spoilers are given because it was actually a fairly fun horror movie…
Is it on a streaming service yet?
Nope. Just in theaters.
So it will probably be streaming in like 30 days.

Hmmm… how many teams in the NFL have never had a QB who threw for 4,000 yards in a season? Just the Bears? That would be some stat.
One, just the Bears.
105 seasons, and not once has their QB eclipsed the 4,000 yard threshold. I don’t think they have ever had a QB throw 30 TD’s in a season either. They did win a Super Bowl though.
The Jets aren’t much better.
Brian Sipe… that was in 1980 I think…
Surprised Murray hasn’t got to 4000 ever.
He came very close in his second year (2020) when he threw for 3971 yards. He missed a lot of games in 2022 and 2023, then last year he threw for 3851 yards. He’s never thrown for more than 26 TD’s in a year. Murray is a scrambling, running QB who doesn’t execute an offense with much efficiency. Like all NFL QB’s he can definitely throw the ball. He’s just more athlete than QB. That’s all.
But as I mentioned yesterday how many teams have had 4 HOF middle linebackers back to back to back to back.
Romeo Doubs left today’s practice with a potential back injury after a collision. The Packers are already missing Jayden Reed (foot), Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Christian Watson (knee). They’re now without four of their top five wide receivers, at least temporarily. Doubs reportedly was down on the field for a couple of minutes before heading off to the locker room with a trainer.
That’s a lot of WR1’s on the injury list. 🤣
Is it possible to go thru a effing day w/o someone trying to scam you? As i write this my sell goes of and it says “scam likely”. Cell, computer and mail. Some people need to be shot!
While reading your post I got a call from a ‘Telemarketer’ on my cell phone. This follows the ‘Scam Risk’ call from 5 minutes before.
Yes, minute later as i’m texting here i get a email from some ass with a “order confirmation number”. Can’t make the shit up.
The scam artists are a bit down the list of people in this country that need to be shot – murders, child molestors, etc.
Long list, yes.
SoCa and I were talking the other night – we need a little Old West justice for many of these characters.
‘child molestors’
Amen Brother.
Yup, there isn’t a punishment bad enough for those things.
Put him in prison and let them do to him what he was doing to the child.
Once they ‘mark him’ his life is an endless string of ‘services’ to other inmates.
Progressive state. Ain’t he cute.
Gee, he’s pretty
Looks like an AI bot.
He is not pretending to be a female so I don’t care.
A dude to help with some routines is fine, although he doesn’t look like ‘that guy’.
Agreed
Well it sure looks like he has makeup on, eye liner and lip gloss. OMG, just great.
He’s going to be dancing like the girls do. Funny thing is, I’d say most of the women watching football would be attracted to a manly man and turned off by a feminine male dancer.
You are just a xenophobe.
Not me.
He is not from the US?
Xenophobe: a person having a dislike of or prejudice against people from other countries
Oh. me wrong. Sorry.
Whatever that woman hating word is in this day and age.
I think you’re thinking Homophobe
Or Misogynist
A lot of “-phobe” accusations going around these days, so it’s understandable.
Misogyny?
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills these days, tbh.
We have to, in order to stay sane.
How do you know?
He/She might be wearing female stuff underneath…….
I don’t want to look at him. I prefer women. I’m old fashioned.
Do you know why cheerleaders have always been pretty women in skimpy clothes? Because men like to look at pretty women in skimpy clothes.
Liberals don’t get that.
They rarely show them anyways, mostly the Cowgirls. If they show him i’ll go to fridge and grab a beer.
Get enough beer Chief.
You know they will show him.
Multiple times.
So what’s the over/under on how many times he is going to be shown during TV broadcasts…
I’m putting the line out at 4.
I’ll take the over for week 1.
We are going to be seeing more of him than any other cheerleader.
Guaranteed.
It will tail off after week 2 though.
Book it.
Yep.
Why do you think the Vikings get to start the season with 2 primetime games?
No official report on Rondale Moore’s injury, which I find odd. The MRI has to have been done by now. Why no reporting on the results?
I was hoping they’d do it right and get some big fat hairy dude out there.
Talk about not knowing and alienating most of your fanbase.
Inclusive.

NICE!!!!
Bonus
Now you can afford to fly to DE to visit.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Holy $hit. That’s in the realm of police assisted suicide – he had to know it would happen.
Looks like the cops aren’t even there and they just backed off and followed him with the helicopter. That’s 100% on that idiot.
So are the actual police assisted suicides. They can’t “pull the trigger” themselves so they do something to put their life in peril. $hitty how it has such negative impacts on folks just doing their jobs (cops) and others just going about their lives (people caught in the crossfire).
Yeah, not fair in this one to the other cars. If you want to take the sewer slide, call somebody.
Fo sho.
Amen
At least he wore a helmet……..
I didn’t watch this all the way through. I imagine it doesn’t end well for the cyclist.
Guess some folks are entertained by this stuff. I just see it as tragedy.
It doesn’t. The newscaster is affected. 😳 And a vehicle (or more) are hit by him. No way that there aren’t multiple people that’ll have issues processing the accident. 🤮
I see him as a Darwin Award Winner.
https://darwinawards.com
Well, usually those guys don’t injure anyone but themselves. I’ve seen some doozies though.
Just had a local guy get killed on a motorcycle trying to go around a car turning right, on it’s right. Flew into a light pole and died instantly. The whole thing blew up on twitter, about how the kid in the car was on his phone and didn’t use his turn signal. The argument, on twitter, got pretty ugly.
Sad, tragic, and wholly on the motorcyclist to observe the lawful use of lanes. If the vehicle was turning right, they were in the right lane. Thus the cyclist violated the already occupied lane to pass. If there was a right turn lane the vehicle was going to use to make the right turn, and the cyclist decided to use the turn lane to pass, it’s also a violation.
I reiterate… all NFL QB’s can throw a football.
But throwing the ball was never Fields problem, at least longer throws. He just wasn’t accurate on short and touch type passes that NFL QB’s need to hit at a very high completion rate.
Nor can he read a defense quick enough (hence doesn’t move through progression) to be good enough.
Fields is an excellent athlete. He isn’t a great QB. He struggles to make good reads and progressions. He has always compensated for that with his innate athleticism. He can definitely throw a football. He can definitely make plays with his legs. Like Darnold though, that can fail under defensive pressure and complex defensive schemes.
Correct, but we were talking about the ‘ arm ‘ issue. Believe I heard Warner talking some time back and he indicated NFL QB’s may miss some of the harder throws but they need to hit all the dunk and layup throws. This from an arm stand point, is Fields problem in my opinion.
I cannot argue the point, because I have no authoritative, or comprehensive data. I have seen him not make throws he should have as far as where he should have gone with the ball, so I know he isn’t as good at executing an offense as others. My perspective is anecdotal here though, not data driven.
You keep commenting on a guy who Trolls Twitter looking for clicks.
His posts are actually coming from the sports reporting media DE.
Yeah, but his comment is meant to troll.
You fell for it.
No, you just don’t see reality… and you want me to believe in your perspective rather than my own individual assessment. How foolish that you would believe I would do that.
Translation:
Kleiman is joking.
You fell for it.
Not
Keep tabs on what he posts.
Most of it is nonsense and meant to get clicks.
I know you would never admit to being human and being duped, but just for your own self awareness, start tracking what he posts.
I read what he posts every day on Bleacher Report which is a valid sports reporting site.
Here is a story about his twitter antics.
https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/3515293/an-investigation-into-whether-or-not-infamous-nfl-twitter-user-dov-kleiman-sold-his-account
DE, your whole point, is pointless. I posted a video of Fields throwing a football, and commented on that. You then push this bullshit narrative about Dov Kleiman in some ridiculous attempt to denigrate me. It’s completely inane and laughable.
Kleiman posts plenty of sound NFL news. I care not what your opinion of him is. I took a video and used it to make my own point, not his.
Talk about over your head.
No, that guy is a dingus.
Says you… so typical…
You probably get all your news from the Babylon Bee too.
What’s wrong with that?
Better than CNN and MSNBC
And more true than CNN & MSNBC.
Democrat Mayors Report Violent Crime Down 40% Since They Redefined ‘Violent’ and ‘Crime’
https://babylonbee.com/news/democrat-mayors-report-violent-crime-down-40-since-they-redefined-violent-and-crime
Only Democrats would feel good about DC having a higher murder rate ( maybe that’s violent crime) than the capital of Nigeria as well as several other “distinguished” countries.
These fools should take a walk down 14th Street at 11:30. pm some night and see how it goes.
Oh snark… intellectually stimulating comment there Bow.
Hey, oofda! Hope all is well, amigo.
Hi! Ditto. Safe travels.
I like this chic. She’s funny, and she can shoot pretty damn well. She can fix her own car too. Oh yeah, easy on the eyes.
Guess she is going to be starring in a Dolly Parton inspired role.
I think she ‘has what it takes’ for the role.

Hopefully, the D Line can give an appropriate hello to Buttbury.
Trevor Sieman also released.
Former Packers QB Gets Shown the Door by New Team After 1st Preseason Game
Siemian has lasted a lot longer in the NFL than I ever imagined he would.
Yep, me too.
Good gig if you can get it.
Jordan Love is undergoing a procedure for a ligament injury in his left thumb, with the Packers hoping he’ll be back at practice next week. Love suffered the injury during Saturday’s preseason loss to the Jets, in which he completed one of five passes for seven yards over two drives. He wasn’t expected to play in Green Bay’s second preseason game anyway, and it sounds like he’ll be back in practice well before the start of the regular season. As is, Love doesn’t seem to be in much danger of missing Week 1.
Built in excuse for Kirk Love…I mean Jordan Love.
I read this about Howell this morning:
“Taking over after McCarthy, Sam Howell took center stage for much of the first half and was efficient in orchestrating the offense. Howell finished 11 of 13 passing for 105 yards and added a 1-yard rushing touchdown to cap a 94-yard drive that put the Vikings ahead before halftime.”
Personally, my opinion was that Howell was surprisingly good, not just “efficient”. He completed 11 of 13 passes. That’s a neat little 84.6% completion rate. That’s way more than efficient.
I agree, he and Brosmer both impressed. I think that has a lot to do with our head coach, he’s great with getting the most out of his QBs.
Hey GF,
It would be great to meet you as well.
If it’s not too far out of your way, maybe you could make a pitstop in Dover, DE and we could meet up.
perhaps i’m just an idiot, but this entire time i think i have called you “defensive end viking” in my mind, not even thinking of the Delaware initials.
wow. my mind is kind of blown right now.
are you originally from minnesota?
Yep.
Grew up in Brooklyn Park when it was the “cool suburb”
“cool suburb”
I lived in Brooklyn Park for a couple years.
It was never cool…..
Oh it was.
I lived there in 1960s & 1970s.
New and upcoming burb at the time.
Left in 1980s.
It’s a shithole now.
That’s pretty much all of the Minneapolis area anymore.
You definitely have to get farther out.
My sister lives in Eagan.
That seems pretty good at the moment.
Yeah, it isn’t bad there. We usually stay there when we go to training camp.
I still can’t believe how dead downtown was when we visited.
During the week, it is almost literally a ghost town. There was zero retail in the downtown area, other than the one Target store. We walked around down there all day, it was absolutely desolate. Only the corporate folks from the banks walking around, and the only businesses open were restaurants & other service-type folks to take care of the people in suits. Zero retail.
Downtown Bismarck is many times busier than Minneapolis, and has probably 5% of Minneapolis’ population.
Downtown Minneapolis, not downtown Brooklyn Park.
Yeah.
I took my mom to see an old friend at the HCMC facility downtown on 8th st last week.
Wasn’t all that busy traffic wise at 10am.
Late 60s for me. Lived there for 2 years, but we were not in a decent part of town. was already a shithole.
I mean, it wasn’t Edina or Minnetonka, but it was new construction at the time.
They built an LPGA course in Brooklyn Park.
Edinburgh.
Same thing I thought at first, tookl me a while to make the connection.
I mean, I realized it years ago, but still…..
Might as well, it’s on our way. I think Deleware is somewhere between Wisconsin and North Dakota.
If you keep traveling east, eventually you will end up in North Dakota.
Staying in Red Wing, huh. If you like Mexican food, I would recommend Rancho Loco. It’s some of the best I’ve had. The Red Wing brewery has awesome pizza if that’s something you’re interested in.
I know that you don’t drink alcohol anymore, otherwise I would’ve recommended the Tap House. They have 61 beers on tap!
My kind of place
Highway 61 runs through Red Wing, I’m guessing that’s why 61 different beers.
Couldn’t drink it even if I wanted to. Diagnosed with Celiac’s, can’t have gluten. They do make gluten-free beer, but they say it’s very hard to find.
It is also hard to drink
Would’ve been a great place back in the day, I used to LOVE beer.. I wonder if drinking all that beer contributed to me getting Celiac’s?
Awesome, thanks! We love Mexican. I just picked up a one-night package at that silent auction in Rochester, got tickets to this outdoor water park in the Dells as well, figured we make a mini-vacation out of it.
Sounds like a good time.
brad, i know you are busy with family stuff, but on your way home, you should text me and maybe we can meet up and say hi. it would be fun to officially meet you.
i think you still have my email?
Just because it is Tuesday
https://www.turfshowtimes.com/los-angeles-rams-rumors/124508/rams-kirk-cousins-rumors-stafford-back-injury-mcvay
If McVay moved off of Goff and gave up a 1st rounder, I doubt he would trade for Kirko.
I think Cousins is gonna remain on the Falcons this year. I really doubt any team will make the kind of financial move the Falcons want, to trade for him.
Probably.
But if a team loses their starting QB, they could be desperate enough to do it.
Agreed
No doubt Falcons are hedging their bets. But guess they would take and “above average” offer. If not, they are fools which could well be.
This whole Cousins situation is unusual. He was playing really well in 23 and then got hurt and played all of last year on a bad leg and then an inured shoulder. At this point no one can really be sure of his health and that throws a big cloud over his value.
Going into OTA’s Cousins said he was only a 7 or 8 healthwise, and was still recovering from the hit he took against the Saints in week 10.
That illustrates the problem.
Yep. I don’t follow the Falcons, but as I scan the NFL news front, I see articles that say Easton Stick is better than Cousins now. No idea if that’s true.
Also, I don’t know if Cousins is recovered yet or not.
Falcons organization is terrible and Stick is terrible too. If Cousins is 80% healthy, Stick couldn’t carry his jock. These guys that write these articles are idiots. I’m starting to believe my wife has more football common sense than most of these so called experts and pundits.
Well I’ve never thought Raheem Morris was a top shelf NFL head coach. When they brought him back, I thought that was a mistake. I guess we’ll see this year if he and the GM have actually gotten it right, and the Falcons win the Division. Something tells me that Tampa will be the Division champ again. I could be wrong on this though. As I said, I don’t really follow the Falcons.
They’ll trade him. Another team will have an injury & get desperate. I think the Falcons are banking on it. If that doesn’t happen, then I agree, they hang on to him. There’s probably a 90% chance they trade him, IMO.
He still has his NTC right?
Yes, but he also wants to play. He’s gonna waive that in order to play, IMO. No team is going to make a move for him unless they’re at least in contention to do something, so I don’t see him choosing not to waive that NTC.
For a winning team I think he waives it.
Doubt he does it for a fringe team just ‘for a chance to play’.
He might be that desperate though, or he could hope for a better option.
He will only accept a trade where he plays.
He’s getting paid $27.5 million to be on the bench.
He won’t risk his future guaranteed dollars for 2026 and beyond.
I think there’s way more to it than that though. He has kids in school, built a house, and settled in Atlanta, where his wife is from. That was maybe the biggest draw to signing there. Her father is a lifelong Falcons fan. Starting over in another new city, and new team environment is more impactful than folks think about. Cousins chose Atlanta for a reason.
He’ll stay with the Falcons this year, and maybe retire next year. I see him staying put.
If Penix gets hurt, the Falcons will have a guy who can lead them to the playoffs, already on the roster.
Just my opinion.
So you would turn down a $180M 4 year contract? Yeah, get over yourself Bow.
Would guess Cousins chose Atlanta for the money as well as the other family type issues you previously mentioned.
He said in the Netflix show that he chose Atlanta because he knew the Vikings were going to draft a QB.
And that can also be a factor. If it were me, I would consider all relevant factors.
He said a lot of other things in this regard Bow. Things like it was clear the Vikings were stringing him along on a series of one year extensions. Things like his wife’s family lived in Atlanta. You take one comment and push that out as the narrative.
If a team shows you that you are not in their future, you don’t hang around.
He also said that if he knew Atlanta was going to draft Penix, he would have stayed in MN.
Of course. Why move and change your life, if the team you are moving to isn’t any more committed to you, than the team you’re on? That just makes total sense. Totally rational.
If what PA was saying is true, about how he has already game planned for all three of the preseason games, I see him sticking around in the same role as Mannion to Cousins.
He’s gonna have a tough time getting the QB2 spot from Howell, but you never know.
I don’t think he will be QB2 but he will take QB3 from Rypien, and be the guy that helps JJ with game planning.
I think he will, too. He was sharp as a tack on Saturday, lots of high praise out of training camp.
GM!
FTP!
SKOL!
Kirko Still Sucks.
Also, FIRST!
I love Kirk Tuesday! No lie, it is better than Taco Tuesday. Tuesday finally has a real identity to me now.
$27.5 million for the 25th ranked QB.
“It’s not about the money, but what the money represents”
No love for JJ..
Well, he hasn’t played an official NFL snap, so I understand it.
Those top QBs skew the market for the dross beneath them so bad.
I’d have Goff higher than 8th.
They also have Stroud too high.
Oh look, the ‘Superstar’ and highest paid player in the NFL is #12.
Jimmy is so stupid.
Black Kirk gots to get paid.
How do you have a backup QB ranked at all in a list of “starting quarterbacks”?
Kirko is not a starter, and he is way too high on that list.
FTP Auto Rec.
