Wisconsin Dells Report

Since many folks who read this are from this area, and there may be some who haven’t made the trip to the Wisconsin Dells, I thought it might be helpful to share some thoughts on our trip. We love it here, it’s a great place for a getaway. This is only our second time here, we were here a couple years ago and had a great time.

Where to stay

We’re going to be here for days, and want to see a variety of entertainment and water parks, so we didn’t stay at a place directly connected to a water park. I normally stay at Marriott, so we found a Fairfield located in a convenient spot for us to get around to different places. If you’re here for one or two days, and are okay with going to only one park, then staying at a resort may be for you. They have a Great Wolf Lodge here, and the Kalahari is very popular, as is Mt. Olympus. There are many others to choose from, and this is only my second trip here, so I only have cursory knowledge of the area.

Things to do:

Man, there’s a LOT to do here. Instead of trying to describe it, just take a look at the official website, it’ll describe it better than I can. Things I recommend are the parks I mentioned above, the duck boats, Aquavia Lumina, the Land of Natura, and I’m sure there are a lot more, but those are the fun places we’ve been to. We also LOVED our dinner at The Boathouse, we were really impressed with the atmosphere, food, and service.

Our Trip

We like hitting the water parks. We went to Noah’s Ark Waterpark on Monday, it’s among the largest in the USA and a TON of fun. We went there last trip, and made it a point to get there again. Monday night, we hit this thing called Aquavia Lumina. It was actually pretty cool, you walk a mile through this wooded area where they have some cool light shows & what-not. You want to get tickets in advance, I think we paid something like $25 per person.

I won $500 on a pull tab at brunch on Tuesday, it was a good start to the day.

IMG_5097

On Tuesday, we went to Mt. Olympus, a waterpark/amusement park, and part of Mt. Olympus Resorts. This is another one we went to on the last trip, and we went back again. The water park has the world’s tallest water slide (this is new, wasn’t there when we were here last time), and my son and I went down it. It’s something like 150 feet high, and was an absolute blast (ALMOST worth the one-hour wait to go down). There is also an amusement park with roller coasters, go-karts, and lots of other stuff to do. We rented a cabana, which made the day much more relaxing and easy to enjoy, it’s nice to have as sanctuary away from the chaos.

On Wednesday, we hit Natura Park, it’s an inflatable water park on a lake. We hadn’t been to this place before, and it was a ton of fun. It was just as fun as the water parks, just fun in a different way. It was like enjoying a day at the beach while having fun slides and jumps for the kids (and me) to go down. We rented a cabana, and again, it was well worth it, see the end of the paragraph above this one.

We’re heading out this morning, and we’ll have a report for you directly from Vikings training camp. We have tickets to the Thursday practice.

Newly released footage from the backseat of a police car shows a South Carolina Democrat gubernatorial candidate being arrested while wearing only underwear and shoes. During the arrest, he unleashed a torrent of profanity, threats, and racial slurs, at times proclaiming himself to be both “God” and “Superman.”

William “Mullins” McLeod Jr., 53, a married father of four and Charleston-based attorney, announced on Monday that he would be running for governor for a second time — having first run unsuccessfully in 2010 as a Democrat.

“I believe there’s a job that needs to be done and it needs to be done now,” McLeod said in a campaign video posted to YouTube. “You see that job is curing a cancer that has infiltrated our state government over the last 25 years. The name of that cancer is corruption.”

Following the release of the humiliating police footage on Tuesday, members of his own party are now calling for him to exit the gubernatorial race.

The NFL will be bringing back end zone social justice messages for its sixth consecutive season.

All 32 teams’ endzones must feature:

“End Racism”
“Stop Hate”
“Inspire Change”
“Choose Love”

All the dirty laundry is being revealed at the Justice Department. It’s too early to talk indictments and who will be dragged through the mud, but these are damning document disclosures that have exposed Barack Obama’s entire inner circle, rightly, to legal scrutiny regarding their actions on the Russian collusion hoax, and now the investigation into the Clinton Foundation. To the shock of no one, federal agents found evidence of criminality at the organization, which arguably served as a slush fund and favor bank for the world’s wealthy and powerful.

The thing is, there were investigations that revealed potential criminal activity, that went nowhere due to politics. None of this would have ever seen the light of day if Harris had won the election. No wonder they tried to kill Trump.

Think this is a bit of a two edged sword. Everyone has known for years that the ClintonFoundation wasn’t exactly straight up. Look at the Haiti situation and the funds Bill got channelled its way.
But there was sort of an unspoken rule in politics about laying off former Presidents. Who knows where all the money comes from to fund those libraries. The Clintons were extreme, but think the overall thinking about former POTUS is OK.
Now of course, all of that changed with Trump and it shouldn’t have.

Not sure if you remember they raided Trump’s home looking to see if he had files on Hunter’s laptop and the Biden crime family. The Dem’s went after a former President. They tried to jail him. They tried to kill him. Now you’re saying it’s Trump that violated the unspoken rule about laying off former Presidents?

And now that precedent has been set and you can bet future regimes will regularly now do this.

How many games will Rashee Rice get?

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Thursday that Rice’s disciplinary hearing with the NFL regarding his 2024 multi-car crash in Dallas is expected to happen on Sept. 30. With no official punishment set to be decided until after the hearing, the receiver will likely be able to take the field for Kansas City’s first four games on the schedule that happen before that date.

Something is working…

Murder and non-negligent manslaughter recorded a 2024 estimated nationwide decrease of 14.9% compared to the previous year.

In 2024, the estimated number of offenses in the revised rape category saw an estimated 5.2% decrease.

Aggravated assault figures decreased an estimated 3.0% in 2024.

Robbery showed an estimated decrease of 8.9% nationally.

Couple of thoughts
Who provides the input stats to the FBI?
And if our nation’s capital has a higher murder rate than the capital of Nigeria (one of the most crime ridden nations in the world) that probably is not anything to brag about.
Lastly, for anyone who says things are all better and all, I dare them to take a walk down 14th Street or in Anacostia at 11:30 pm.

And I posted “something is working”, i.e. the report’s data shows improvement. I didn’t say the data is “good”.

JRobert
JRobert
Reply to  Yore Mom
14 August 2025 1:27 pm

But your suggestion ‘data shows improvement’ is truly only true if the data is not being manipulated
But the broader point is really the issue – it’s not that a 400 pound over weight man has lost 5 pounds, it’s that he is still a 395 obese slob – and that is still a huge problem.

Yore Mom

And better is preferable to the same or worse, no?

JRobert
JRobert
Reply to  Yore Mom

You start to prove anything with solid reliable data. Flawed and/or biased data will not produce a reliable result.
But absent that – there is a common sense test as I suggested. If you, I, or either of our wives cannot walk down 14th Street at 11:30 pm without being robbed, raped, beaten up or killed, we in a total sense a very real problem.
Better is preferable? My example of the 400 versus 395 (better). But at that rate you never get to acceptable, you’re dead firat.

It’s actually not funny at all that I don’t trust stats from hardly any of the gov’t agencies. But then I have a little experience dealing with the results of that data.
Since I’ll try to be nice, I’ll just skip your Nigerian Prince swipe. “But wait”…. are we the clever one..

Happy birthday to my best good puppy buddy and healer of my soul. 6 years old today he was born deep in the heart of red-clay country in Oklahoma. Named him Goose as I envisioned the ultimate wingman. Should’ve named him Happy – as that’s what he is, all day long.

Never met a stranger, gentle with the elderly and playful with children. Always curious. Runs like a thoroughbred, farts like a water buffalo and just howls at them Seward County cretins every time we’re in River Rat Country – scaring the shit out of folks with a hearty ‘BAROOOOOOOOOO’ letting everyone know a couple of Duke boys are rolling through like we own the joint. I’ve needed him lately more than ever, and he’s never let me down.

Very awesome Mjolnir. My daughter just lost her best friend (4 legged) of 20 years, a couple weeks ago. Her heart is hurt, and she texted me today, saying “I miss Chico”. They had a long, and eventful life together, traveling all over the world. He would ride on her motorcycle, hang out in her backpack while she played putt putt golf, etc. They were totally inseparable. Chico got old, went blind, lost his hearing, and yet always seemed to know exactly where she was. He died on the couch with his head in her lap.

That’s something you simply cannot replace.

We used to play”bingo, bango, bongo”. It is 3 bets per hole.

– First on the green
– First in the hole
– Best score on the hole

Only downside is that you must play your shot in proper”golf order”. So if i am 180 from the hole, and you are 175, you must wait for me to hit.

The good part is, even if you have a bad hole, you can still win a point by sinking a putt.

Any hiring action is discriminatory by default. The people doing the hiring decide who they want to hire. They discriminate based on their personal preferences, as well their perception of a person’s qualifications. There are plenty of black coaches, and plenty of other black NFL employees (GM’s etc) so proving discrimination based on race is going to be hard.

A political consulting firm, Targeted Victory, claims Gmail has been flagging Republican fundraising emails containing WinRed links as “dangerous” and sending many straight to spam folders. WinRed, the GOP’s central online fundraising platform, brought in roughly $1.6 billion for the 2023–2024 cycle. Its Democratic counterpart, ActBlue, appears to face no such labeling, with emails containing its links going through unimpeded.

We only live about an hour and 45 minutes from the Dells, but we rarely go there. I’m not a big water park fan, but my wife has been to the Kalahari a few times with other family. What I like is the Paul Bunyan’s Cook Shanty. It is a family style restaurant where they bring dishes of food and you pass it around your table. We have also been to Buffalo Phil’s Restaurant with the grandkids. They deliver the food by train. The Dells also has some cool mini golf places.

Me thinks you conflate corporate cow towing to liberal power brokers as owners personal views. They (owners) will do whatever it takes to make more money with their teams. My Googlerator search monster found only 3 NFL owners gave more political donations to Democrats than Republicans:

Great write up about the Dells. We took a few family trips there.
I enjoyed staying at Great Wolf Lodge because they limit the number of people allowed in their park, so it was not as crowded as Kalahari and Mt. Olympus.
Also, agree on the Cabana rental. We did that when on family trips as well. It is nice to have a “base” while running around doing fun things.
