Is anyone else watching the latest version of Quarterback on NetTricks? We’re currently on episode 7, it’s been a pretty good season so far. As of this latest episode, Kirk just got benched in Atlanta, Burrow and the Bengals are about to get knocked out of the playoffs, and I had to endure a replay of the week 18 game between the Vikings and Lions, which was not fun, but as a Vikings fan, I’ve become accustomed to the pain. The pain still hurts, but you kinda get to where you enjoy it.

I know that many fans were hoping for a reunion between the Vikings and Adam Thielen, but could there be a different reunion in the Vikings future? I see K.J. Osborn was released by the Commanders. Osborn could be acquired without giving up any draft picks, which is an advantage. According to USA Today, Thielen could be acquired for maybe a 6th and 7th and the Vikings would only inherit $1.5 million of cap hit in 2025 for the fan-favorite WR. Tough decision. What would you do?

Now, as I recall in 22 when he was our WR2, he was having problems getting open. He’s now three years older but perhaps this is no problem if their is corresponding drop in defensive talent covering a WR3 versus a WR2.
Remember our discussion on Crowder, playing opposite DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon, with Jordan Reed in the mix. Thielen from the slot? Killer.
Yes, but Crowder was in his prime and probably the best slot receiver in the league. He could beat tough man coverage. Believe when he left Skins (their stupid purge of talent) he commanded a big salary.
Hate to say it, but Thielen is way better than Crowder.
Maybe six years ago, but not now compared to the Skins group you presented.
You realize with that Skins group Cousins threw for 5000 yards and the Skins had a good running attack.
That was the one year Cousins O-line was very good, AND he was in his second year with Sean McVay as his OC (he left the next year to coach the Rams) AND he had a solid group of receivers, including Chris Thompson out of the backfield.
All that said, Thielen is better now, than Crowder was then, because of his experience. Crowder was only in his second season in 2016. Thielen is in his 12th season. He’s seen it all. He knows it all. He walks in and can be a weapon immediately.

Will just say, remember the following year, Garcon and Jackson gone, couple of crappy receivers who got benched, Reid got hurt and all the skins had was Crowder and Thompson. Crowder drew a lot of coverage and still got open. If we lost JJ, JA and Hock, could Adam beat coverage?

Thielen is the only player in NFL history to start a season with eight straight 100-yard receiving games. Who was the guy throwing him the ball? Oh yeah, Kirk Cousins.
And the Vikings and their fans only care enough to try and bring one of the two back while they let the other rot in the NFC South.

Case Keenum? Not sure what you’re saying here. Thielen had three 100+ yard games, and four TD’s with Keenum in 2017. In 2018 with Cousins, he had nine 100+ yard games, and nine TD’s.

There is a lot to be said about who is throwing the ball to you. If you don’t know that, sorry. As I just told you, he had three 100+ yard games and only four TD’s with Keenum throwing him the ball, and nine 100+ yard games, and nine TD’s the next year with Cousins throwing him the ball. BIG difference.

He did… but after the GM declined a very reasonable offer from his agent, and only wanting to extend him one year at a time. He was offered a 4 year $180M contract by the Falcons, with $100M guaranteed, and a no trade clause. No brainer there. Right?

AND a four year deal, vice a one year extension. The Vikings were only interested in keeping Cousins around till they could replace him. He knew it, and they knew it. Don’t act like Cousins quit on the team. The Vikings front office weren’t interested in keeping him.

But then again, he wouldn’t have….because of the money we would have to pay him. So Kwesi’s plan worked out pretty well for roster building.

Of course he wanted to stay here. He said that many, many times. KAM just didn’t want to keep seeing that cost keep going up. Also he wanted to be able to trade Cousins any time he wanted, and of course, Cousins wasn’t having any of that BS.
So Cousins had to admit to himself that the Vikings were far less interested in keeping him, than he was of staying with them.
KAM made a financial business decision, and to date, that has worked out well. Cousins took a job with another team that he thought was fully committed to him, and then they drafted Penix, and built an offense around his talents. Then Cousins got hurt, and now he’s the backup.
That’s life in the NFL and Cousins isn’t crying in his beer. He’s being the total pro he’s always been.

I had to do an eviction in Bismarck a couple weeks back. Got the order from the state to empty the property and prepare it for sale, order active on Friday. Dropped off some tools there to use on Friday, including a cordless air compressor & such for winterizing. Got there Friday, some crackhead ass hole broke in that morning & stole my tools. About $1,500 in tools. Filed a police report. They said they’d get at it “in a couple days”. By the time they “got at it”, I’m sure my tools were in a pawn shop.
Have some free time today, gonna go visit the pawn shops & let them know about the situation. I know most of the owners because kiddo and I go to them a lot to buy sports cards. Hope they find the pricks. If I could just get an address, I’d be happy, I could gladly handle it myself.
Forgot to mention, the neighbor got a picture of the vehicles of the people who broke in. Got a clear view of one of the license plates. Here it is, anyone around Bismarck has an idea of who this is, please let me know. Or let the police know.

Can’t speak for ND but in NE you can get on the DMV website and run plates for a fee – slippery slope as the plates could be stolen.

Yeah, I can look up plates at my store to find exact year, make, model, and sub model (because customers never know exactly) but I also use it when thieves come in and it’s almost always a completely different vehicle that comes up, most likely stolen vehicle and plates

Good luck getting at least some of it back. Maybe air tagging some of the bigger stuff would be a good idea if you leave them at locations frequently. I had a rifle and binoculars stolen a few years ago. I got lucky and they found the rifle, minus the scope, in an alley about 9 or 10 months later.

There isn’t a single weakness on our offense. The scheme is totally mature, and all the wrinkles have been ironed out. There is no reason we should not be a team that can sustain long, time consuming drives that result in TD’s.

What was JJ like the number 8 selected. What was Purdy, the last selection of the 7th round. If Purdy could take that stacked offense to the SB, JJ ought to be able to take this one.

GF, be real… his OC was fired before the season ended. The same OC who insisted he rewire his brain to play his scheme. The running game went to shit, and the defense had a number of bad games. Remember the kicker missing the chip shot field goal against the Packers in overtime, after the amazing come from behind effort to tie the game? Thielen’s amazing catch, on Cousins amazing throw? How about the defense allowing 38 points to the Rams?
Cousins had to deal with a lot, while completing over 70% of his passes, for just shy of 4,300 yards, and 30 TD’s.
Cry me a river about “Cousins” was the problem with that team.

I took several years of Latin in high school. Can’t speak it (can still read it a bit), but it helped tremendously with vocabulary, especially all the legal stuff I had to read when I was in HR.

There have been over 1,500 QB’s who have played in the NFL. Only 22 have thrown for 500 yards in a game. That’s .015 percent of all the QB’s in history.
Only 10 QB’s in NFL history have more 300+ yard passing games than Cousins, again out of over 1,500 QB’s.

I’ve thought the Ravens have been better than Chiefs for a couple of years. But they meet in the playoffs and the Ravens seem to choke some.
Ravens production and performance on the field definitely declines in the playoffs. Lamar has tried to be too much of a playmaker vice a QB. Teams just come after him in the playoffs much more, and it has worked. I think Derrick Henry will get more work this season, and Lamar will continue to throw the ball a lot more than he runs it. This could be the year the Ravens get back to the Super Bowl if their defense steps up.
The Chiefs pixie dust has to run out sooner or later, but I will probably pencil them in for the Super Bowl again until they are knocked out.
If someone gets them, I’d like to see the Chargers probably. Maybe. Bills okay, too.
To put things in perspective regarding yesterday’s cuts, during the preseason, NFL teams are allowed to carry 90 players on their roster, but every team had to trim that down to just 53 players by the cut deadline. A total of 1,184 players lost their job over the last few days.
There will obviously be some players who were cut, who will be picked up by other teams. Last year, 27 of those 1,184 players made it to another team.
We just need a WR and CB for depth.
Or, roll with what we have and hope and pray there are no major injuries.
I can’t believe we are truly going into the season with just 4 CB’s on the active roster. That is nuts to me. Obviously after tomorrow (when players clear waivers and become free agents) teams will sign their practice squad players, and 544 players will have jobs again. I expect we’ll have at least 4 CB’s on our practice squad.
Can’t say I follow or even know that much about CB’s. But since pressure doesn’t always get there, especially against good offenses, do we have one CB that can even stay close to a top 15 WR?
Byron Murphy is our best corner, and he’s ranked 29th in the league by PFF this year. The duo of Jeff Okudah and Isaiah Rodgers is a worthwhile shot for the Vikings to take because both have talent, but the floor is extremely low here. This duo is a strong contender for worst in the league IMO.

I can change the number of strikes people get before they are out in survival league. The options are 1, 2 or 3 strikes.
I think I’m going to bump it up from 1 strike to 2 strikes because the first weeks of the season are generally brutal with weird upsets and wipe people out right away.
Plus, I think it is more fun if you know you got 2 strikes. You can take a gamble more easily.
3 strikes might be a bit too much because multiple savvy pickers can probably get through the whole season on 3 strikes.
I like the old school 1 strike and out.
I have only won once in my life, so I already expect failure.
Plus, it is much more difficult to survive with only 1 strike.
