Watched the Bill/Dolphins game last night. The Dolphins were 12 point underdogs and covered. Somehow, with 4 O Linemen injured, they were still able to move the ball and make it a game. This is my point about the Vikings O Line. They have spent money with shit results for way too long. Someone needs to fix something or fire someone. Many teams are dealing with injuries. Most do not fall off a cliff like the Vikings seem to each year.
This post is late because I slept in. Took today off for no reason other than not wanting to work. I am a slacker.
There are rumors that Harrison Smith and Darrisaw may actually play this Sunday. Warning, I will be at the game, and so far, that guarantees a loss at US Bank Stadium. I am pregaming at a restaurant, so I will only be buying 1 $20 beer at the game. SMRT.

Laughing, note what Kurt Warner says about the commentary on this video. The QB doing the review acts like Tua was a dumbass for not reading the Mike. If you notice, Tua reads the flat defender, and immediately fires the ball and #96 is almost on top of him in that split second. The commenter acts like Tua has all day to go through reads and progressions. It’s a terrible take, when he says “this is a day one mini camp rookie throw”. That’s bullshit. Tua doesn’t have time to get to any other throw, and he pretty much gets rid of the ball as soon as he catches it. If Tua doesn’t throw that ball in that split second, it’s a sack. He made the fundamental read and threw the ball to the right spot. That was just incredible defense.
Man the commentator talks a good game. But Warner seems to have a little more real world experience and what the real deal is.
He does. The commenter actually talks about opportunities on the back side, too. I was like, really? I guess #96 doesn’t exist, huh? He also talked about a route concept called “spot basic” that wasn’t even executed on the play. Like bringing in a phantom route that Tua should have been reading. Literally a route that didn’t exist.

Quick update on my prostate biopsy and thank you for the well wishes (for those unaware I had a biopsy on Monday over the lunch hour).
Got a call from the urologist yesterday evening. One of the 12 cores (they take two from each side at the base, mid, and apex of the gland) came back Gleason 6 (3+3). What that means is a low grade cancer, a Gleason 7 would be considered clinically significant cancer. 3+3 means they grade the most dominant abnormal cells and then grade the second most dominant collection of abnormal cells.
Gleason score 3 is associated with an excellent prognosis. Most men with this score will not need immediate treatment and can be closely monitored with active surveillance, which involves regular checkups and tests.
She wants to follow up with a PSA in three months, feels that my PSA of 25 was an anomaly. If it remains that high, will get a prostate MRI to look for a focal high grade lesion.
I was a little sore for 24 hours, had some blood in the urine first two days which started clearing yesterday.
The sad truth is that at least half of men over the age of 55 have a low grade cancer somewhere in the prostate. Most are non aggressive – the challenge is determining which can be followed and which need immediate intervention.

I wonder if JJ’s injury was upgraded when Kelly got injured? I can see not running JJ out there if the starting center is not playing. It is a tough enough job to start with, and now all of a sudden JJ has to make line adjustments for the center.
Well fundamentally, it’s the QB’s responsibility to call out protections. He’s in the best position to see the linebackers and safeties, and also his film study should prepare him for the various blitz packages the defense uses. The center has limited visibility being in a three point stance, so he can call out suspected line stunts, and of course A gap rushers, but not much more. IF the QB doesn’t have the knowledge and acumen to call out his protection adjustments, the center does it, but again, it’s limited. No young QB is going to be able to call out his protections very effectively though. It takes time, reps, film study, and yes, getting his ass handed to him, for learning to occur.
Not much demand for Vikings tickets this weekend after that horrible showing last Sunday.
We were going to go to the game this weekend but my father in law ended up in the hospital so we are not going.
I cannot sell the tickets, even below cost. That generally doesn’t happen. An online scalper offered me about 60% value – so demand must be pretty low.
I’d sooner have my balls waxed than spend money on them atm.
That seems to be how many are feeling.
But I am sure that those who want to see/celibrate the Gay Cheerleaders make up for those who turned off by poor play.

I mentioned Sunday during the game that Ivan Pace is becoming a liability. He’s like little Gilligan and the giant Skipper in that one dream episode of Gilligan’s Island.
Finally saw a couple of talking heads agreeing that he should be benched. Runners bounce off his tackles, he gets juked out of his jock, and can’t cover a receiver.
Next (bigger) man up.
Wilson has been playing well. I don’t know who else they have, but Pace has been gambling and coming up short. I expect him to have a bounce-back game, though, just to confuse everyone on what to do with him.
I could see when Cashman comes back, Wilson taking Pace’s spot.
Cashman would be a good pairing with Wilson but he is injured. Not sure if Kobe King or Austin Keys are an upgrade over Pace. Sione Takitak is on the PS, don’t know much about him.
It’s a shame, because Pace has been getting free runs at the QBs, and is in place to make tackles.
He just doesn’t.
All of this…… part of why he ended up UDFA was his size, or lack thereof. We bring him in and he shows a ton of promise – by playing bigger/better than his size would suggest. Early on it felt like we landed another Zach Thomas.
I don’t feel that way anymore. Way too many missed tackles, arm tackles, getting wiped out by secondary blockers….. he’s left 2/3 sacks on the field this year and several more TFL’s.
I think it is safe to say that Pace is better in coverage or rushing the passer than he is vs the run.
But, we got the two new defensive linemen that are supposed to be good at stopping the run….

This is NOT a First Amendment thing, so STOP pushing that narrative. His company fired him for low ratings, and TV stations around the country saying they would no longer air his show. Viewers were sick of his hate filled commentary about people on the right. His show was losing millions of dollars, just like Colbert’s. He lost 72% of his viewers, and this is the market talking. The President had nothing to do with his firing. The President was right though, in saying he was a no talent guy.
My wife theorizes the networks are using the opportunity to let go of expensive show hosts with bloated staffs.

Reading a lot here and everywhere else about our line blocking. Seems appropriate. Something I heard some time ago comes to mind.
I was actually at a management Seminar and Joe Gibbs was the keynote speaker. Given his football and Nascar experiences, he was considered kind an “organizational” expert and thus on the speaker circuit.
During Q and A he did receive an interesting football question that I found quite insightful.
He was asked what did he think lead to his success as kind of an offensive genius. His answer went like this.
‘ I learned early on it is very easy to draw up all kinds of exotic routes and schemes but they are worthless if you can’t BLOCK IT. As such for every play, it first started with the blocking scheme and that had to be executable and solid,’ He went on to say when they Played the Giants and Lawrence Taylor he threw half the playbook out the window cause they couldn’t block it.
Perhaps, there’s some wisdom in there for us.
I think simplifying is exactly what we need to do.
I also think we also have to be careful about making sweeping conclusions after two games into the season.
Agree – making no conclusions. But read here yesterday we are 32nd in offensive line blocking. Now there can be a host of reasons for that but think something is a miss.
Oh, and one last thought for what it’s worth.
Noticed going back to 21 Stafford got killed a lot but they keep throwing it down the field, with success. In 22 and 23 Cousins got whacked a lot but we kept flinging it. And later with Mullens and it continued with Darnold last year.
KOC has had great success but there does appear to be a pattern where KOC’s QB’s are going to get and have to deal with pressure. And it’s worked so far.
Yeah he’ll figure it out. Just wish he would be a bit more straightforward and smash mouth instead of cutesy.

The conclusion is simple. McCarthy knows how to run the plays. He doesn’t know how to read NFL defenses, adjust his protections, understand blitz concepts, or really do much more than find a receiver and throw the ball. He’s young, inexperienced and a LONG way from being an NFL QB. He can make some plays, as he did in the 4th quarter against the Bears. Being able to chuck the ball a few times a game and get some scores isn’t gonna work long term. Folks who crowed about how great he is, and how he was going to lead us to the Super Bowl, etc, don’t have a clue.
Has there been anybody else as successful in multiple sports as Gibbs? He isn’t just a HOF NFL coach who happens to be in NASCAR, he’s created one of the best organizations in the sport. Pretty impressive really.
He also lived at Redskin Park for years. Slept on a cot, etc. He has always outworked his competition. He built one of the largest and most experienced staff’s ever as well. He was committed to winning, knew what he was doing, and worked his ass off.
He sucks according to some on here though
