Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Wow, it’s been a busy week here. I’ve been cleaning out a foreclosed property, and it was FULL. The pic below is a picture of one dumpster full of garbage, we’ve filled this five times…..so far.

The good news is that I’ve found a TON of fishing stuff, and I also found an old Vikings jacket. We’ve also found a bunch of items that can be used by the local thrift store, so we’re donating all of it to them. We should wrap this up today, I sure hope so, because it’s been a lot of work and I’m ready to finalize this one. We hauled a lot of that stuff out of the basement, lots of steps whilst carrying heavy items, great workout.
Wednesday night, fishing buddy and I ran up to the Garrison Dam tailrace. The fish were biting and we had a blast, we got home around 1:30 am. We’d have stayed longer, but my buddy got spooled by a big fish of some sort. The thing took his lure, swam UPSTREAM, and took every inch of line he had. He turned the drag all the way up, and tried stopping the spool with his hand, but nothing worked. That thing must’ve been a monster. I caught a couple nice walleye, and had a big brown trout (I assume) but it got away. We plan to go back Saturday when Eli can go along, hopefully will have some pictures to share. Sorry about the blurry picture.

In NFL-related chit-chat, I guess I can get Marvin Harrison Jr. off of my bench, I put him there this week because he’s been struggling. He continued to struggle through the first 3 quarters last night, then erupted in the 4th quarter. I’ll have him starting next week.

This is a REALLY good interview on the Shawn Ryan show, enjoy!
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
Cool!
A real person and everything.
Picture up top made me wonder.
Is Wentz capable of playing as well as Sam?
Yes, Wentz is capable of playing like Darnold. We’ll see if he does.
Well, 14 wins sounds pretty good to me.
I’d take that…
looking at that picture up top of Sam Darnold…..
last year was ALOT of fun as Vikings fans. expected NOTHING and got a VERY entertaining year….minus the end
Yup, I enjoyed it muchly.
I think our plan was better…
Gotta say he knows how to work the crowd and is an effective public speaker. I have seen (mainly hockey) players that find a way to work at least four “you knows” into every single sentence.
I kinda wonder why they don’t travel right away also. Is it because Mondays are designated day off? It would give them more time to get used to everything.
Mondays are treatment and meetings day. Tuesdays are the day off. Wednesday through Friday are practice days.
The rest of the story…
Gink has got to get rid of the kink (in his neck). What is the actual injury? Anyone know?
I don’t. I wouldn’t want to play with a neck injury though.
Nope, sure wouldn’t
Officially official now…
He looks okay there.
Sadly, the Americans are getting paid to lose badly at the Ryder Cup…
Better than getting your butt kicked for free.
Hmmm…
Time for Dallas to earn his draft status. Think Kelly is out of protocol.
I think Dallas will be good Sunday, honestly. Kelly should play. I think he’s out of the concussion protocol.
Good news I think…
Ribs are one of those odd injuries I worry about rushing back too fast where you think you’re good until you take a good one to the same spot.
Hearing that there are some pretty bad ICE protesters in Chicago getting in the way of vehicles and surrounding officers at a detention center. Trump would be within his rights (I think) to bring in the National Guard to protect Federal assets (vehicles, facilities, and personnel).
He is probably getting more from the daily visuals of crime and protests while the mayor and governor claim that there is ‘nothing to see here’.
The Dims defending and protecting criminals while keeping Trump from fixing the problems is a gift politically.
DJT wants to help people and stop crime but then the political cost may be bad. It should be an easy answer but it is anything but.
The voting base in this country gets dumber by the minute.
Ain’t that the truth.
So I understand the point you’re making. The more the left “resists” and impedes law enforcement, the better politically for the right. I’m a purist though. I really do want our law enforcement to get the criminal elements off the street and protect innocent citizens.
I hope that is what happens.
I’m sure the Republican voter base will continue to stand on their principles and oppose these situations of Trump deploying the National Guard because they are so pro state’s rights, local government and against federal government overreach.
Yeah, because stopping crime and cleaning up our filth ridden cities is so bad for America.
Thank you for proving my point of not actually standing on principals (to be fair neither side does anymore, but the Dems abandoned theirs long long ago, but I guess you guys are following suit) that the party had stood on and spoke about forever. I appreciate the honesty in your response. As an independent that in my more radical days of thinking I was Libertarian, I then and still do I guess actually support the idea of small federal government powers so this is one I use to be able to agree with Republicans on. But they keep proving over and over it’s not something they actually support. They like a small government when it benefits them and they loooooove big federal government dick swinging control when it’s infringing on those they don’t. Principles matter, you only know you have them when they are challenged and both parties and most their constituents prove over and over they do not have them. Drives me nuts. Either you are against Federal Government powers or you aren’t. When some turd Dem gets in office watch how fast all the sudden you dislike them. It’ll be real shocking lol.
You started this with use of National Guard. In a principled manner I’m not for it and am for states rights. But this isn’t black and white. Think a President should use NG to protect federal assets, buildings and federal agents.
Now, DC is a different. As the capital of our Federal government, do what it takes to make it clean and safe.
Now, the rest of these cities like Chicago, sad s it may be, they are on their own. I feel for the ordinary people but they are run by the people they elected. Well not really, as the primaries are all rigged but that’s another matter.
How’d I do to pass the ‘hypocrisy’ test?
My point is we should use every tool available to save our citizens from murderous criminals. Shove principles. PROTECT the citizens.
Your virtue signalling fails the citizens and I won’t back you on that.
I would prefer Trump not get involved in the struggles of these cities, but I also believe that he should have the right to tell them to piss off, when they ask for federal funding for welfare and other social handouts.
So you’re fine with people being raped and murdered and the cities actually facilitating and protecting the people doing it, instead of the victims?
Trump isn’t and nor am I. Send in the troops. Capture and prosecute the criminals. Clean up the filth. Make America great again, and protect the citizenry. Great leader, great man, great President.
Why would you stand on school administrators?
I’m happy when they deploy in blue states, but they better not deploy in red states. I’d be p i s s e d if President Ocasio Cortez deployed NG in Billings to protect a transgender parade.
Now sarcasm aside I don’t favor deploying NG in cities without the approval of the state and local government outside of total anarchy. You can feel for Joe Q Public or the local police or local infrastructure but ultimately we are an elected republic and if our elected officials do their job properly they are projecting the will of the people that elected them.
Now I am 100% in favor of ICE mopping up illegal aliens and protecting the officers during their deployment of that duty. I also believe in habeus corpus but wish the judges could do it a heck of a lot faster.
Well said, even if you once were a Canadian.
You fail to understand that the illegal aliens ICE are primarily pursuing, already have deportation orders so they’ve had “due process”. Also, anyone they arrest that requires some sort of further adjudication are being judged at the detention centers. They have access to legal counsel there, and they go before judge.
ICE is going after the “worst” of the worst. Dwell on that.
They certainly are, but they are also picking up folks that are in the same vicinity. We have found 22,000 missing children going after these animals, and what does the left want to do? Stop us.
Looks like it’s a good thing I’m not watching the Ryder Cup… took a look at the scores… we’re getting shellacked.
Something about that format doesn’t interest me much.
My son decorated the yard
Laughing, nice.
Looks like he was inspired…

Fish cleaning table
Nice little haul you have going on there GF.
These the ones that were stolen?
No, I wish.
This is all stuff. I’m getting from a cleanout. I’m doing. Foreclosed property, removing personal property so we can resell the house.
Ah I see
I’d give you 20 Bucks for them (I know they are worth more than that) but then I’d have to find a place to put them (wish some of my kids would move out… actually it’s fun having them around, except for the drama from the older girls).
Good game last night. Darnold with 28 seconds left, moves the ball into field goal range for the win. Definitely a nice finish for him and the Seahawks.
Yeah, wouldn’t have needed that except for the league cheating hard to keep the game close. That wasn’t a “hold” on Smith-Njigba when Seattle scored a TD in the 4th to put the game away and they had to settle for a FG. And Marvin Harrison had a huge push-off to catch a long pass to get Arizona down the field to score a TD (obviously wasn’t called because they wanted AZ to catch up). I do get sick of watching rigged games, but there is no comparable product, so I keep watching the NFL do their thing anyway.
