The team is 3-2 and have this week off to try and recover. Injuries have been rough so far this season, and to have a winning record in spite of all the injuries is impressive to me.
Tonight we get to watch our next opponent and defending champion poop-eaters Eagles vs the Giants. I expect the Eagles to dominate, but I am also rooting for Jaxson Dart. Pretty sure he will make some terrible decisions, but it should be entertaining.
I have seen some pundits sharing their opinions on whom the starting Vikings QB should be next week. I think the coach has made it very clear, that for JJ to return, he needs to be healthy and complete a full week of practice with the starters. Since that has not happened, I expect we will know more next week. I do not think coach is trying to be cryptic or fool anyone. I expect JJ to be the starter again, once fully healthy. I am also fine if Wentz starts next week. Either way, I am trusting the coaches. I think JJ is the QBOTF, unless he continues to get injured and turns into another casualty that is the Vikings life. I expect to see improvement in his ability to command the offense and read NFL defenses quickly, and it would sure be nice if he got to play behind a solid O line and had some quickly developing plays vs what we saw weeks 1 & 2.

Still rooting for Dart to make some plays. I expect some really bad throws again from him, but he is fun to watch. Makes some brilliant run or decent throw, then two plays later another head scratcher.
People have to understand the first rule of rookies. They don’t know what they’re doing. They are great athletes, who have always succeeded completely, and utterly on their athletic ability alone.
NFL playbooks have hundreds of plays, with multiple options that a QB has to learn. Just the verbiage to call a play is hard to get, much less running them with real mastery. NFL defenses are working to convince you where to go with the ball, and you think you’re doing the right thing, then you find out you did exactly what they wanted you to do.
I wish I could explain how hard it is to play QB in the NFL better. It takes years of work. Day in, day out. Studying for thousands of hours. Practicing plays with 5 options or more, over and over, until it’s instinctual. You see it immediately, you know it immediately, you throw it immediately.
I am perfectly fine giving JJ this season and two more to show that he either can or cannot do the job. My purple-tinted shades say he will be very good at his job and be here for years and the team will finally win a Super Bowl.
At least the team has $ to spend on the trenches while JJ is on his rookie deal.
Fun and infuriating team to root for.
Looking around the NFC, if this team gets healthy it can get to the SB this year.
And I don’t think we need great QB play to get there. Believe just ‘good’ play will get us there,

I believe that JJ, if healthy, is absolutely the best option on the roster. Wentz has played well, but I would still play JJ.

Some encouraging news for the Poopeater game. Their LG is expected to miss a couple of games due to ankle injury. Given all of the injuries we have suffered on the OL is nice to that balanced out a bit. Not wishing or celebrating an injury just working thru the various circumstances for our next game.

I read somewhere that some 17 million people have died from taking the COVID shot. I do not know if this is really true, but I do feel that taking this vaccine comes with some element of risk. Too little data on what it does to your body.
Never got the shot. I got COVID once, and it was rough (but H1N1 was way worse for me).
My doctor asked me why I didn’t get it. I said, “I just feel like I didn’t need it.” That was the end of the conversation.
Same, got it twice, possibly 3 times (was never tested) but the first two times for sure were it. Was over all of them in around 48 hrs and havent been sick since. If you are a healthy adult between the ages of 0-65 and are not obese or have co morbidities, COVID was never any danger to you or your family.
Unfortunately I was required to travel world-wide for the DoD at the time and I was mandated to get all the shots and boosters. Had my COVID card on me at all times. I have no idea if the shot will affect me negatively. I hope I have a good 20 years left, but who knows?
I did not have the freedom to refuse the shot, thanks to his bullshit.
I was forced to get 1 to keep my job due to his policies. A year later I was again forced to get a booster or loose my ability to work. Same with my wife. Neither of us are “at risk” and are not pleased.
I really hope the dems find a moderate to run for governor, since there is no way a Republican or third party can win. Unless we find another guy like this…

Your at the point where scoring better is mostly all about the short game.
Shot nine yesterday and nine the day before. First day hit the ball really well but putting was just OK. Second day, didn’t hit the ball as well, but putted well. Shot the same score both days.
Yep if your short game is working it covers up a lot of problems…yesterday it was mostly my approach shots though…I hit more greens in regulation than I usually do.

Nice NoDak. I’ve not played much golf in the last several months because the heat here has been so bad (as normal over the summer). Temps are coming down now though so I expect I’ll be hitting the links more often. Any round I shoot in the 80’s is a great round for me. There are so many long holes with water everywhere that I just lay up off the tee and then get on in three. Bogey golf is pretty good golf, under bogey golf is pretty satisfying golf. Great to see you shooting a score like 84!

My sister passed away on Wednesday night. Got to spend her last two nights by her side. She was coherent on Tuesday and we sat with her talking about all of our stories. Wednesday when we got to her place she was aware enough to know we were there, but she didn’t stay alert for long. She was able to go peacefully in her sleep in her own place, which is a great blessing.
I agree, no better blessing than to pass peacefully at home. I wish that for everyone.

I’m glad you were able to have that last time with her.
Over the years I have had a complex relationship with my sister; she is nine years younger than I so I think her ingrained notion of me is a mature infallible individual who left her in a bad home situation when I started college when she was seven. Yet I know she loves me and of late we have worked on reconciling. I haven’t told her of my prostate issues as I know more than anyone except my wife she would worry a ton.
Blessings to you and the family. I’m glad that she was able to pass peacefully with family by her.
JV, sincere condolences on the loss of your sister. Lost mine a few years ago in similar circumstances. Visited with her the day before, the next day her son found her asleep on the couch. Except she had passed. She looked very peaceful so we were all happy for that. I’m 70 now and both my parents have passed as well as two brothers and my sister. Time waits for no one. Thankfully you had that joyous moment Tuesday. RIP your sister, and again, sincere condolences.

Picked up The Teacher from the airport last night. She got in late and I got to hear all about her trip during the ride back.
I got all my chores and errands done while she was gone, didn’t do a couple small projects as the upstairs ‘greatroom’/library/man cave took more effort that expected. Lot of furniture moved around and boxes of books emptied. It still needs some organizing but the space is now usable.
She fell during her trip so she is moving gingerly at the moment. I expect she will ease back into our routine as her hip/back heals up.
I sense some gouger dollars coming to radiology soon.
She says that is just some soft tissue soreness and bruising.
She tripped over an uneven floor in the first place that they stayed.
The 4 year old was moving better than she was on sightseeing trips. She said the visit to the volcano was rough for her.
Radiology doesn’t see bruises, they see purple dollar signs.

Sounds pretty minor. Getting old sucks, things that we could shrug off at 18 linger as we age.
She said she saw the step in the middle of the floor and thought it was a strange place for it. She was distracted by the 4 year old and tripped anyway. She is mad at herself for allowing it to happen.
Hey SoCal, hope the Teacher’s fall wasn’t too severe. Something we deal with as we age, and the older we get, the more it hurts and the harder it is to recover. I know from personal experience. I tripped and fell at the airport a couple years ago and man, that floor was hard. I was shocked at how much it hurt. Took weeks to heal up from it too.
So take good care of her (I know you will) and help her mend. Bless you both.

We have been going to the gym/rec center for almost a year so she is pretty fit and healthy thankfully or is might have been worse.
My mom has fallen a few times and broken bones, it has taken her a long time to recover.
Older people, I’m getting to be an expert on that subject, do fare better from falls the better there physical condition to begin with.
Anybody have experience with wiring a light bar into your high beams?
Why would you do that? Assuming you want the light bar to come on with high beams, you would lose the ability to use high beams on the highway.
I have a light bar on my Bronco. You would not want to use it on the highway, #1 illegal and #2 would be utterly blinding to oncoming traffic (the lights turn the dark field into daylight for over a quarter mile). I wouldn’t want a scenario where I forgot they would come on with the high beams.
The idea of wiring to high beams is so I remember to turn it off when traffic is coming by turning my brights off. A separate switch and I would forget half the time. I also don’t want to cut a hole in my dash for the switch.
As for the illegal, there are tons of light bars on the road and cops pretty much ignore them. Illegal.. yes. Worth their time… no.
My heretics are pretty bright; don’t know if the HP would ignore them.
My wife was driving the Bronco on Tuesday (it’s either the Bronco or the F-150 if the dog is along for the ride and he loves fall weather) and got smacked by a big rock from a side dump gravel truck right by Hollecker. Looks like a softball hit the middle of the windshield. When she called me right after it happened, once I knew she was okay I asked, “Did it hit the light bar?” That was an expensive man toy.
Ouch, did it fall off the truck? If it did and she caught the name of the company, the company is liable. They’ll probably try to say the rock came off the road though.
She said by the time she recovered from the shock it was 100 yards down the highway and she didn’t notice the name as it went by before the rock hit.
Our glass deductible is $500 so we’ll probably pay for it out of pocket. Damn windshield gougers.

When I had to put a windshield in the tundra, it was over $400 in Glendive. I called great falls since we were going there a week later, $225.
Ideally I’d use a 3 way switch so it could be on, off, and with high beams. But again, I’m not cutting a hole in my dash.
Do you have fog lights? Wiring it with those would be cool too. Otherwise, you just T off the wire to the high beams for your power and it should run it unless the fuse to the high beams is too small, but it shouldn’t be.
People that drive with fog lights on when conditions are clear should be hung by their thumbs.

This particular trim package didn’t come with fog lights. I think i might wire a pair of those into my high beams too, then go point them all at MTs house.

Agree, but we are not at practice, we do not see what the coaches see….If they start JJ they must believe he has what it takes, or will soon…
