Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Happy Thorsday, everyone! It sounds like the bitter cold, and possibly snow, is just around the corner. My goal is to get done early today so we can get out & se if we can find a walleye or two. Once that first arctic blast hits up here, that usually means winter is here to stay. Yuck.
Vikings and NFL News
Vikings.com brings you your initital week 10 Vikings vs. Ravens injury report. Also, T.J. Hockenson is excited to pass along military appreciation to the next generation, and Levi Drake Rodriguez was named the NFC special teams player of the week for his blocked field goal.
The Sporting News has the latest Aaron Jones injury news.
From ESPN, Rico Dowdle was fined for his “2 pumps” celebration, one of the dumbest fines and dumbest penalties I’ve ever seen. Sure, we’ll basically look past Sean Payton and Gregggggggggggggggg Williams paying players to hurt other players, but God forbid you celebrate a touchdown. This is why the NFL will eventually die, they’ll be so busy trying to attract another demographic that they will drive away their base. Idiots. Key & Peele must’ve been elated to see this.

How much do we care about the Silver and Black vs the Donkos??
Personally since I don’t have any other rooting interest I would like to see Buttholemouth go down. And not in a good way.
Better luck next time.
That was my fundamental take on McCarthy. He is a long way from being a top shelf, competent NFL QB. Like all young QB’s he sees himself as a football star and a playmaker. The QB has to be the brains of the offense though. He has to process at light speed, and know what he is doing. It’s going to take some time, and for me, the jury is still out.
Indeed. He’ll get there though. The talent and drive are there. I love his winning, gamer mentality. I feel that’s what’s been missing the most from our QBs for a long time now.
It’ll take time and patience, but the greats were never great in year 1 starting.
I think that’s a total misnomer. Every single NFL QB has an immense will to win, and drive to succeed. They invest every ounce of their being in winning. They train their bodies and their brains for years, constantly working to get better. These are the most driven guys in the world. McCarthy has more charisma, and that’s about it. He doesn’t have more drive, he just has more personality.
he likes us, he really likes us
Injury report.
i find it incredibly hard to believe that we are on week 9 of NFL football and the Ravens have ZERO guys on their injury report.
didn’t they get fined for improperly putting people on the injury report???
$100,000, the equivalent of fining you or me a nickel.

Their head coach said they didn’t do it on purpose.

The last line is freakin hilarious….😆
Lol yeah
Hmmm…
Samuel is a 12 year vet, with 51 interceptions in 133 starts. 5’10” 185lbs.
Think that might be his Dad’s career stat line.
he’s pretty young to have 51 career picks
Yup. Jr is a 4-year vet, with 6 career picks.
Laughing… you’re right… I looked up the wrong Samuel. Thanks!
Can his dad still play?
Can he be in uniform by Sunday?
A.I.’s take:
So why is he not signed?
Wow, he’s tall
Good one.
‘It’s just the kids calf scramble….. it’s fun. The animals are running around without any plays or game plans or anything….. kind of like Barry Switzer was coaching them…..’

Yesterday my neighbor, in his 80s, who has a large plum tree in his front yard that drops lots and lots of leaves in both are yards. Yesterday he was raking his yard and I told him I would rake mine today. He said ok but then went ahead and raked my front yard.
Today I go out rake my back yard and he is out there again in my yard raking the leaves that fell overnight. I told him ‘oh no you don’t’. He made me look bad to the neighbors, an 80 year old raking my yard of his leaves. I suspect it looks like I told made him ‘get his leave out of my yard’.
So I spend almost an hour raking my front yard before he could get the overnight leaves and then my back yard along with draining and rolling up the hoses and storing them for the winter.
Good pre-gym workout/warmup.
Well…to be fair it is HIS tree……
I don’t rake leaves. They are good fertilizer.
I mow the snot out of the.. works well
I used to mow the snot out of my lawn so the wind would blow the leaves across the yard and into the neighbors. He who had the highest grass had the leaves.
It is rough living down wind from you
Yep, we’re the easter-most property in the neighborhood, wind blows everyone else’s s*** into our yard.
Damn, I wish I had a neighbor like that.
Does he wash cars too?
Nope but he will shovel snow in front of my house if I don’t get to it first. I will shovel the sidewalk in front of his house now to retaliate.
It has basically become a race to see who gets out there first.
Yea, that would get old.
I can hear my wife now – ” so and so is out there, you better get out there and help.”
We started raking last night, too. Got the main bulk of them up, I’ll mow the rest with the rider.
Sounds like it was indeed mental health related.
Tragic Details Surface on Death of Cowboys’ Marshawn Kneeland
Mental health issues really suck. While the stigma for reaching out for help is being reduced, mental health can be so much harder to resolve than a broken bone.
I am not mad about this. It amuses me.
Nice chunk of change.
Mostly earned and at least partly taken advantage opportunities.
Solid investment for a backup quarterback
The IRS, State of Georgia and probably the City of Atlanta are all happy to hear this.
“It’s not about the money, but what the money represents….”
Fuckers
I’ll never forget this – was on my 11th birthday….
Yes, yesterday was my birthday AND NOBODY REMEMBERED!
and it was my real birthday, not a freezey fake birthday to make you all feel like dum dums.
I’m over it. But next year I expect balloons.
🔨🔨🔨
Thank you ff……
next time say something! we all want to celebrate the hammer!!
I don’t even bother to remember my own birthday.
The Teacher handles family BDs and sends cards.
BDs are overrated as a reason to celebrate although I will admit that the more BDs you have the longer you life.
Agree. Stopped being a big deal to me at 21. Kind of just another day – but above ground is a plus, so I’m happy to rejoice in that a bit.

Agreed, we all have one a year, no big deal to me. But my wife considers her birthday the most important day of the year
Happy belated Birthday!
Hope Goose took you for a long walk.
Thanks JR
Got tomorrow off and I’ll have my best good buddy all weekend.
I remembered. I only spent $500 on your gift, though. Should have got there yesterday. If not, here is the tracking number:

Oh I got it…..
24 y.o. Tough loss.
Just saw that, crazy…alcohol? Car crash? natural causes? it will be interesting to find out.
I thought ‘drug overdose’ initially but then I thought ‘would a pro athlete do that especially in-season?’
Speculation is worthless, it cause will come out eventually.
Suicide. Self-inflicted gunshot wound. Ugh. Super sad.
Man, young, rich, the world is your playground….
He must have been facing some terrible demons.
He just scored his 1st NFL TD in Dallas’s last game.
Seems a strange time to be depressed.
Mental health is a tricky thing.
At the prison they kept telling us if we needed help to call their hotline.
But if you called the hotline there was a chance that the shrinks would decide that you couldn’t work at the prison due to your issues.
So they ‘helped’ your mental health issues by firing you and greatly reducing your ability to get another job, especially in Law Enforcement.
So as a result nobody ever called the hotline to get Mental Health assistance.
similar to the military.
Sure is
So true.
Damn, that’s sad.
Just heard he may have been being chased by the cops when he shot himself…
So yes, suicide, but likely not depression…he must have done something pretty bad.
Hey Gone fish’n are you seeing much for ducks and geese in front of the cold front headed your way?
Yeah, been seeing quite a few
Hey
Stuuuuuu!!

Single best thing that a man could ever hope gets leaked
I have a strange feeling of inadequacy.
My ‘feeling of inadequacy’ was just confirmed, not quite as painful.
“Just WHO do you think you’re gonna please with THAT?”
Definitely top 10 weirdest story I have read this year. I have questions that will never be answered.
As some one in the comments section said, I was lied to, I was told size didn’t matter.
“its not the size of the oar its how long you can row”
although I hear some women don’t like it when guys take so long……I can’t help who I am.
It only takes a long time when you don’t know what you are doing.
Ha! made me laugh.
So you’re sayin there’s a chance…
That doesn’t include our improving health – especially the Oline – in those calculations….
Soooo…..not worth much.
I feel our chances are better than 12%.
But then I continue to ‘hope for the best but expect the worst’.
The NoDak analytics have them at 35%.
I give them a coin flip at this point.
Vikings historically been unpredictable for decades.
Heck they won their first NFL game in 1961. We beat the Bores 37-13. Wonder how many had that bet?
That was crazy that we beat the Bears…they were likely overlooking us and had been out partying Saturday night.
‘That was crazy that we beat the
Bears‘ Lions.FIFY
What year is it?
Ahh I see, I was thinking Sunday not the ref to 1961, my bad.
Its either 1961 or 2025…when you are old time kind of all smushes together.
It’s just time. Who tracks that?
It’s ESPN, they tend not to think very deep
Spent all last week in Rapid City at the Gold Rush Nationals derby. It was really well executed by the promoter. Great action all week. And we got to see a cars impersonation of a jellyfish.
Damn, wish I would’ve known that was going on, we might’ve made that trip
Asante Samuel remains unsigned…what are the Vikings chances of getting him?
Depends how much they pay him, does he have ties to Flores? That would help
Correct it is all about the money.
Regarding yesterday’s media selection, yes, he IS pretty funny.
I like his video about gym training for winter.
That is pretty good as well….
Ice fishing is a hoot, too.
Seen him live twice. Good stuff.
That picture of Hock up top must be like 3 years old.
He doesn’t catch passes anymore…..
SKOLOHOLICS PICK AND SURVIVAL LEAGUE UPDATE #9
Another amazing week has passed. Many noteworthy things happened. I ate an entire box of chocolate-covered cherries. Winter is coming.
The top three scorers in pick ’em were ManlyPurple, Let’s Fish and PA. I was fourth, which is why I ate an entire box of chocolate-covered cherries to mask the pain.
In the overall rankings, Bow and Little Fishin still lurk at the bottom of the pond. JacksonVike is kind of stuck in no man’s land right now. PA, DE, Surly and Me are pretty close. Likewise, Lasallegrouse and Let’s Fish are neck-and-neck. NoDak and Kirko are neck-and-neck, as well. ManlyPurple sits at the top, but he does not have an insurmountable lead over the ones right behind him.
Lots of exciting things can happen yet. Many chocolate-covered cherries can still be eaten.
Everyone got the Ravens, Chargers, Patriots and Rams right. Everyone got the Packers game wrong. Packers ended up getting beat by the Panthers and I’m sure everyone is real broken up about that.
Iconoclast Picks were few and far between. DE was the only one who took the Raiders over Jax. NoDak and DE took Houston over Denver.
Genius Picks go to NoDak for taking the Cardinals over the Cowboys and Little Fishin for taking Pit over Indy. I suppose Let’s Fish and JacksonVike also get Genius nods for being the only ones to take the Vikes over the Lions, while everyone else did Traitor Picks. However, they only put one confidence point on it. The rest of us got fairly brutalized by that game. I took the Lions for 14 points. I also took the Packers for 13 points, and Indy burned me for 9. I only got those three games wrong, but they hit me hard, losing that many points.
Nothing has changed in Survival League. DE and Let’s Fish still have one strike. ManlyPurple and PA are still perfect.
GET YOUR PICKS IN BEFORE THE GAME TONIGHT.
I am off to finalize mine now. I still haven’t set my confidence points…
I hate chocolate covered cherries.
I always got a box as a kid for Christmas, so I associate the taste with happiness.
Makes sense…there was no pop (or soda) in our house growing up (we were lower middle class, couldn’t afford it)….but during the Holiday season mom would buy a couple of the big bottles of 7-up.
I now associate 7-up with fond memories of childhood.
We also ate mashed potatoes pretty much every meal, which would make one think I am sick of mashed potatoes, but nope!
I can eat potatoes in some form or another pretty much every meal. Never get tired of them. Also associate their taste with happiness.
Are you Irish?
My name in bold lettering.
Is everybody in the upper Midwest ready for snow this weekend?
Man, you could kick up a rock and kill your kid!
Of course that looks like a cheap electric “one stage” jobber…completely inadequate for all but a sidewalk. It probably wouldn’t hurt him to badly.
Does not look like any of it is actually hitting the kid. Video is just angled to look like he/she is being pelted.
I thought the same thing. My lab Bubba loves to bark at the snow thrower and “bite” the snow stream. I won’t let him outside while I am clearing the first snowfall as there are always small pebbles that get deposited on the driveways during the summer and fall that the snow thrower will clear off. I probably shouldn’t allow him near the stream of snow even after the first snowfall but he loves it and looks like Nanook of the North afterwards.
Ha, that’s cool.
You can always have another kid.
Or as Bill Cosby said to his kids ‘if you don’t behave I will take you out and make another one just like you’.
He live show was hilarious, I struggled to breath at times because I was laughing so hard.
might as well be, we have no choice.
Hmmm… first.
Good morning all and SKOL. Tonight we have a football game nobody cares about between the Raiders and the Broncos. I might turn it on in the background though.
The new season of the Curse of Oak Island started Tuesday. I didn’t watch it. It’s gotten old and boring.
It’s Thursday, and that means weekend eve is right around the corner!
FTP!
Good morning, SKOL!
FTP!
Happy Thorsday!
I can’t believe that show is still going. My dad always watched it. He died in 2017…and he hasn’t really missed a thing since then!
@Stil really interesting viewing – it’s a toss up between Oak Island and Skinwalker Ranch@
I have never walked Skinwalker Ranch.
Is it about werewolves maybe?
ahh……no. I won’t spoil it for you, you should start over at season 1.
I will watch it until they find all of the treasure, even if it takes the Vikings winning a superb owl first.
Laughing
They found one old coin in the last episode, does that mean the Vikings win a playoff game?
But…they already found the treasure, I read it online so it must be true
I would like to know what went on at Oak Island – cause something did….
But I do not believe, nor have I ever believed that there is still treasure there – though at one time there probably was.
The artifacts they have found, tools, wood timbers deep in the ground, construction of ancient roads and wharfs, all point to something significant happening on the Island hundreds of years ago. Also things happening over the course of hundreds of years. So yeah, why dig tunnels that are booby trapped with sea water flood systems hundreds of feet underground? Something happened there, but whether the treasure or whatever was hidden there still remains is certainly questionable.
agree.
It sounds like a Clive Cussler novel.
