Hey, it’s a post-win Monday! We haven’t seen enough of these this year. The Vikings got a resounding victory against the Commanders yesterday, final score was 31-0. I really loved the offensive strategy and play calling, and the defense was lights-out. The defense alliowed only a couple significant drives, including the fourth down stop on the one-yard line, but they suffocated the Commanders offense.
Win out and hope someone else steps on their weiner in the last few games. Get hot going in and hope for the best. SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!
Thoughts From The Game
- J.J. McCarthy played an excellent game, he was poised and worked through his progressions. Three passing touchdowns, no turnovers, those are the two most important QB stats.
- KOC called a magnificent game. “Simplified” is just fine.
- I especially liked how much they ran the ball. It takes pressure off of the young QB, and a balanced offense is harder to defend against. Estabilishing the run helps open up the passing game.
- Ball control was huge.
- The Vikings defense is legit, and they are even better when the offense is able to control the ball. A fresh defense is more dangerous.
- Three turnovers for the opponent, none for the Vikings.
- Will Reichard is the man.

CBS Sports says that Cleveland is eyeing a 2026 return for Deshaun Watson. Well, of course they are, it’s the Browns. I can see it now, Shedeur Sanders will take off and give fans hope, but the Browns will re-sign Watson to some stupid, overpriced, long-term deal and trade Sanders. Then Sanders would thrive elsewhere while Watson busts (again), then the team would implode, so the Browns would fire the head coach, even though he had nothing to do with the decision. It would be the Browns thing to do. You read it here first!

I don’t know of anyone here that is arguing that (well, maybe one person, I think you know who haha). At least my feelings are that when he was with MN, he was a very good QB most of the time. He hasn’t been good since going to ATL. The Vikings dumped him at the right time.
Picking up Rodgers might have been an interesting year (better than this one), though he’s clearly not the QB he used to be, either.
Kirko was a very good QB.
But just came up short when it mattered and would just look lost a few games a year. Good enough to compete for a playoff spot every year.
I was fine the first two years. But paying him top dollar was a mistake.

I know of some people who went to the game yesterday. A group of six of them. They happened to notice a certain state political person in the same row as them that is currently not very popular.
So, the six of them took turns all game long leaving their seats, so that political person had to keep standing up to let them come and go. They could have went the other direction, as it would have been shorter, but…

After the game I drove the side by side down to our Love Shack and did a little demo work and spent a half hour scraping carpet glue off the basement floor with a razor blade. That latter task is going to take many hours of work but the bonus is my forearms will become Bruce Lee like blades of death to my MMA opponents in my dreams. Bonus I listened to the first half of the Packers game.
Got back home to walk the dog prior to putting a couple of sirloins on the griddle for supper and my wife said I’d have to drive back down to leave the Love Shack door open for the plumbers (putting in a whole house filtration system and tankless water heater today). I said okay I’ll just walk down there with the dog…about 3/4 of a mile if I take the direct route. The four wire fence I put in between our properties is stretched piano wire tight but there were two strands intertwined (happens when deer hit a fence at speed), was a good place to climb through the fence and then cut my hands undoing the twist. Got to the Shack, grabbed a couple of tools I didn’t need to leave there anymore, walked back to the same point in the fence, no way I could get through or over with the wire so tight, so I had to walk a half mile down to a gate. I’m halfway across the next field when I realized I had locked the door.
Dementia is creeping in, had to retrace my steps by which time my wife was ready to call search and rescue.

Watched the Bears/Packers game yesterday on late here.
Great game. Two strong running teams, two strong defenses. But it seemed to impress me that this was December and December weather. Was enjoyable to see football outside played in the elements.
I have always enjoyed outdoor football on natural grass vs the TV studio that stadiums have become.
Now, as a grumpy old man, I would not go to an outdoor game in poor or cold weather.
I agree with that is it more enjoyable watching football being played outside in the elements.

Since you guys are talking about the playoffs here is what needs to happen.
Vikes need to win out.
Bears need to lose against the Browns, Packers,49ers, and Lions.
Lions need to lose to the Rams, Steelers, and Vikings, and then beat the Bears.
Either the Bucs or the Panthers need to lose 3 of their last 4. The bucs have the Falcons, Panthers (twice), and the Dolphins. The Panthers have the Saints, Bucs (twice), and Seahawks.
So, the Vikings can be officially eliminated prior to taking the field Sunday night if The Bears beat Cleveland or
the Bucs beat the Falcons AND the Panthers beat the saints.

The Giants game is the other one we are likely to win…I’m all about McCarthy getting more comfortable on the field, no injuries, and losing games for draft position. To accomplish that end the defense would have had to simply not take the field yesterday, man Washington looked tough, and not tough in a good way. Ertz’s leg bent the wrong way, too, hate to see that.
I saw the Ertz leg on X and do not want to watch it again. I hate watching legs bend the wrong way.
IN order to make the playoffs; the Vikings would need to win out and either the Bears or Lions have a collapse. Along with Dallas either losing or tying a game, besides ours.

This is what I was expecting in September from JJ. I have no idea how different things impacted the outcome. Poor WA defense? Better play calling? Better execution and fewer penalties? JJ just maybe getting more used to NFL game speed?
Whatever the reasons, it is only 1 game, but it was a good sign that JJ is not Ponder 2.0.

That was a very fun game to watch. Like I said last week; it would be best for the Vikings to lose out, but if they can play four more games like that one, I will be okay with a mid round pick.

my kids want to watch with me, so i can’t not watch and miss that fun time. plus kids don’t care about the record, they care that we CRUSHED WASHINGTON
My daughters don’t much care to watch football, they’d rather watch classic Disney Princess movies and do painting or other artwork so it’s easy to skip watching
