Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts

The dreaded Tuesday has arrived. We’re expecting gusts up to 65 miles per hour today, and with a foot of powdery snow already on the ground, it could be an eventful day here in the northern (greater) Dakota. Hey, it’s all good, I’ll be in Florida on Saturday, perfect timing.

The Vikings go on the road to Dallas to take on the Cowboys, then to New Jersey to take on the Giants, then it’ll be two in a row at home against the Lions (Christmas day) and the season finale at home against the Packers. Hey, I’m hoping for 9-7, I always want my team to win. SKOL!!!!!!!

Vikings and NFL News

HC Kevin O’Connel talked about J.J. McCarthy’s and Van Ginkel’s performance against the Commanders and other items in his Monday presser, from Vikings.com.

Sunday wasn’t kind to several former Vikings, per Yahoo Sports.

The Chargers defeated the Eagles last night on Monday Night Football, details from NFL.com. Also from NFL.com, the Colts had Phillip Rivers in for a tryout.

From NFL.com, Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson is likely to undergo a season-ending core muscle surgery, whatever that is, per NFL.com.

Playing golf tomorrow at a course I’ve never played before. Looked at a satellite overhead of the holes and it looks like there are several holes with a forced carry over water. There are holes you tee off over water, and holes you have to carry on your second shot. Looks like water is in play on about half the holes. Should be a challenging round.

You can handle it the way you’ve been playing. Tee it high and let it fly.
Just got back from nine. Nice cool sweater weather and really enjoyable to play in.
Hope to play tomorrow too.

So the Washing DC Police Commissioner, that DEI hire who didn’t know what the ‘Chain of Command’ was, resigned yesterday effective at the end of the year. The DOJ was investigating her as part of the DC Crime Stats Hoax.
But I have not seen anything about it today? Was it a false News even though multiple news outlets reported it? Not newsworthy today? I thought it was a win for the ‘good guys’.

Sometimes I have to keep learning the same lesson over and over – just dumb I guess.
Was recently talking to a friend about how low the political class in this country is presently. Namely, the Senate was a bunch of wortrhless bozos.
Couldn’t get any worse, right?
Well, then learned yesterday Ms.Crockett is running for the US Senate in Texas and pulling in tons of money already.
Yes, it can get a lot worse – there is no bottom.

With a two party system essentially there is only one way to make change. Vote for the other party. It’s just a sad reality. The Dems and Republican parties know this which is why they have spent so much time dividing use and making sure party loyalty and identity politics rules this country, that way we stay fighting one another. Listen, I have tried with so many of these anti-Trump folks, my mom being one of them. Since she has retired, she for the first time in her life has gotten very political and it’s all Anti-Trump and MAGA. There are absolutely some legit issues and gripes to made with Trump and the MAGA world. As there are legit gripes to made with any administration. But I try to explain to her, who cares? Dem voters yelling about Republicans and vice-versa is one of the most useless things in the world… You already don’t vote for them, what do they care about your whining and complaining? You want to make a difference? Yell at your side for putting for absolute trash candidates, rigging or just out right not having primaries and alienating middle ground voters like myself that couldn’t bring themselves to possibly vote for a corpse or someone forced upon the voters like Harris. Be sick of that shit and make that clear and then you might actually see change.

So all roads lead back to being willing to vote for either party. When a candidate like a Pelosi or a McConnell (many other examples) are in office THEIR party has to be willing to vote them out. Neither side is ever willing to remove corruption which is why corruption will continue.

There is a lot of truth in your post.
In fact, Washington. Adams, and Jefferson all warned us about the ‘power’ of political parties after seeing the destruction they had done in Europe.
But another part of this is the role of the free press. When you can see The Washington Post slam a Democrat and the Washington Times hammer a Republican, then there will be progress.

We do not have a free press. Have not in decades, maybe even a century.
You can see the same regurgitated scripts being read on all the “news” channels. Media selection today highlights that.

There is some progress in this area. More and more people are getting news from independent sources. It’s when I have people like my father in-law who ONLY watches FOX News and Andy Griffith or my mom getting hers from Facebook which the algorithm has her completely pegged so all she gets is anti-Trump stuff is the issue. I mean my father in-law told me he believes Trump is completely reformed and a good, God fearing wholesome Christian now… like what? What insane level of brain washing can be going on to make an otherwise smart person believe that?

If/when the woke/left ever get control of the government again they will abolish the filibuster, pack the Supreme Court, add Puerto Rico and DC and any other left leaning states they can find, and bring as many ‘democratic voters’ across the border as possible.

In regards to the Phillip Rivers talk below, the Colts are in a tough spot. Man, things can change in a hurry. Just a few weeks ago they were talk of the NFL, looking like playoff bound for sure. Now they have big QB questions going into next season, and no 1st round draft picks for next 2 drafts after going all in at the trade deadline.

Even if he gets back to full health, it’s more about this year. He was playing so well, (i know they have a great RB) and a 7-1 record about halfway through the season, and the organization really believed in him and that this was a SB contending team, that they went all in. Sending two 1st round draft picks for Sauce Gardner was that proof, imo.

SKOLOHOLICS AND SURVIVAL LEAGUE UPDATE #14

I decided this week doesn’t count. I am currently looking for the “go back in time” option in the commissioner tool to erase it from existence. I don’t know what happened. Somehow I locked up last place by nine points.

I blame it all on the Bills/Bengals game. I was the only one who picked the Bengals because Burrow, when healthy, is a Chiefs and Bills killer. And the dude threw for 4 TDs. But once that game didn’t go my way, it became a domino effect and everything spiraled out of control. I ended the weekend in a flophouse with a heroin needle dangling from my arm. Like I said, it was just a bad week…

Manly Purple took the top scorer place and kept NoDak at arm’s length once more. NoDak was on the right track. He beat ManlyPurple in the Chargers/Eagles game. He just didn’t have enough points bet on the dreamy Herbert.

DE got third place.

Overall, we got a clump at the bottom that have not broken a 1000 due to extenuating circumstances. Then you got JacksonVike. Me and Kirko are neck-and-neck. Then 3-7 are close, as well. Surly is at the top of that clump, then PA, Let’s Fish, DE and Lasallegrouse. ManlyPurple opened up 30 points on second place NoDak.

I started watching the Sopranos finally as a winter distraction. Maybe we need to send one of their types around to ManlyPurple’s house to “encourage” him to do a little worse next week.

Everyone got the Lions, Seahawks, Broncos and Rams games right. Everyone got the Browns, Bucs and Ravens game wrong.

I get an Iconoclast Award for taking the Bengals over the Bills. We will also give them to DE and JacksonVike for being the only ones to take the Jets over the Dolphins.

When it comes to Genuis Picks, DE, Let’s Fish and Surly get one for taking Jax over Indy. Man, Indy has really fallen off the beam in the second half of the season. Maybe Andrew Luck can come back and help them.

DE, Lasallegrouse and Jacksonvike also get Genius Awards for taking Houston over KC. KC has also fallen off the beam. I am okay with that. I got kind of tired seeing them in the Super Bowl every year.

When it comes to Traitor Picks, that would go to DE, Kirko, Surly and Me. We all picked the Vikes to lose.

Survival League suddenly got a lot more interesting. Both ManlyPurple and PA picked up strikes. One more by either of them, and the game is over! Manly got hosed by the Bucs. PA got hosed by the Browns.

GET YORE PICKS IN BEFORE THE THURSDAY GAME!

I'm a dad, husband, Army vet, believer, and a die-hard, life-long Vikings fan from the great state of North Dakota. I've been a Viking fan dating back to 1980, I've been covering the Vikings for nearly a decade, and I founded Skoloholics in 2022. I work in real estate and property management, I love spending time with family, working in the yard, doing anything in the outdoors, and as you can tell from my username, I love fishing. SKOL!!!!!!!!!!
