Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts

We’re halfway through another week, on the downhill side and on our way to the NFL conference championship weekend. Also, I’m offically tired of winter, I have been for quite some time. Ice fishing and football are the only things that make winter tolerable, and the Vikings peed the season down their leg early and most days it’s been far too windy to put up the pop-up ice house, so I have nothing good to say about winter right now.

So as I understand it, now that he is under contract if he is signed away by another team we get some draft choices. Not sure if it is a minority hire type of thing.
Will it cause other teams to shy away from hiring him? Or are they Comp picks?? 2026 draft??? 2027??? More questions than answers.

I don’t know for sure, but I think it is comp picks, the signing team doesn’t lose any. At least that is what I remember about us signing Kwesi. Cleveland got 2 comp picks the next year.

Actually, the regime executed thousands of leftist allies post-revolution, including in the 1988 purges that killed an estimated 2,800–5,000 political prisoners, many from Marxist groups like the Mojahedin-e-Khalq, though not literally “all” participants. Still Schneider’s point has merit.

Compensation chatter centers on a mid-round pick like a 2026 second or third, possibly plus 49ers rookie WR Ricky Pearsall (whom Nystrom comps to Adam Thielen), valuing Addison’s route-running and YAC ability at around $15-20 million annually long-term.

  • Season it well at initial burn in, bacon grease works great
  • If you do smash burgers, cover the press with foil and give it a little spritz of cooking spray
  • The tools I use the most are flat blade scraper (for cleaning), forceps (what you call tongs), long spatula, wide spatula, steel lid (to cover items to let them percolate), and heat resistant mitts and eye protection (spattering bacon grease ain’t gonna hurt my cash cow).
  • Keep a bottle of water, bottle of light oil like canola, and bottle of liquid butter on hand.
  • I usually keep two adjacent burners running on a four burner set up for the quantity of food my wife and I will eat, park things on the unheated side as needed to get the timing right, for example a breakfast of eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage.

Getting the seasoning right and keeping it clean is a little tricky at first.
Clean with a scraper as MT said. I found doing it immediately after the food is off the grill is the best. Scrap it down. Then season it with a thin layer of oil when the grill is off but still hot. Use a paper towel to smooth a thin layer of oil over the entire surface.

If a rust color develops after it cools, it wasn’t done correctly.
It took me several uses out of it to perfect the clean and seasoned look.

I think it depends on what he thinks he is due in a new deal. If they can agree to an extension at or below $17 million a year on average, it might be worth it. On an extension, you’d be able to have incentives in it and clauses that void the contract should he be arrested and/or suspended. If he’ll sign for $15 million a year, for say 3-4 years, I’d do that deal. Other than any signing bonus, none of it would hit the books until 2027 and at a $15 per year average, the annual cap hit would be lower. I would try to structure it with as little signing bonus as possible. My guess is they don’t come to an agreement this year though, in which case, another suspension might actually help them sign him long term next offseason.

Hasn’t worked for KAM.

Kyle Hamilton was the BPA.
Instead, made BS stupid trades and got shit.

While Jackson has been good, I don’t think it’s a winning strategy.

Just get a baller.
If he takes someone else’s spot, so be it.
I can deal with two stud players if that happens.

I don’t think the Vikings have any stud players that could get replaced anyway.

Trading back increases the risk exponentially so you better get that right. KAM certainly didn’t either in the player he passed on, the player he took, what he got to move back or even the players he took with the extra picks he got from the trade. Slick Rick managed it with the trade back that resulted in Darrisaw in 2021.

Picking a different player rated similarly is a different conversation. Pre-draft, the teams sets it’s board, rating how it views players and I have little doubt that ‘position of need’ is considered in setting that team ranking.

NLNVF, was wondering what you thought of this analysis? It is slanted toward ‘Doom’ but it seems as they did not include any of our allies in their study, just US vs China in a global conflict.

The analysis is pretty accurate, but there are many things the media or anyone else doesn’t know militarily. Historically, the Pacific Theater weakened significantly when we were in the Middle East with USCENTCOM from Desert Storm onwards. PAC Commanders told Congress we needed a lot more investment to protect Japan, Taiwan, etc from China. China kept building up their forces, and we didn’t. Then in the first Trump administration, he started addressing that. He was ready to get out of Afghanistan, and shrink CENTCOM’s forward footprint. The DoD focus started shifting to USPACOM around 2017. Today, we’re in better shape than we were 10 years ago.

Here’s the thing though. Economically a lot of of China’s economy is dependent on trade with the U.S. U.S. goods imports from China in 2024 totaled $438.7 billion, up 2.7 percent ($11.5 billion) from 2023.

China needs that money from the U.S. to survive. So… don’t bite the hand that feeds you as they say. Trump knows he has China by the short hairs, and they do too.

Not to mention that the US military has a history of handicapping themselves going into these “war games” like saying well what would happen if China invaded Taiwan and we only responded with one division of Marines. What I’ve heard at least, these simulations rarely account for the full might of the American military because it isn’t fair. The only way that somebody even has a chance typically is if the US ties both hands behind their back and even then it doesn’t usually go well.

Trump has 3 more years to codify his Donroe-doctrine. He can fundamentally change the world. He can demonstrate how liberals aren’t at all interested in taking care of their populations. He can show that they are ridiculously bad and unfit for their country’s when it comes to Governance. Whoever succeeds Trump from this term on the Republican ticket must be fully trained to continue running the country from a prudent, practical, and pragmatic position. The overly emotional, cause driven, panic stricken left must be constantly exposed as being opposed to everything that makes sense. Their failures, corruption, and misguided leadership must be front page news every single day. They hate the Jews, they hate white people, they hate capitalism, they hate the Constitution, they hate law enforcement. They hate everything that is necessary for people to live safely, securely, and prosperously. This is the messaging we must push for the next three years and beyond. That peace through strength is necessary. Secure borders are necessary. Law enforcement is necessary. Not to mention the law abiding citizens have the right to bear arms.

Trouble is here in the US we have like 2 year plans – until the next election. The Chinese have 500 year plans. They pare patient and time is on their side.
And there is also concern that half the Republicans are just as bad as the Democrats.

I think there is a lot of truth here, but grass roots change starts now. Grow the next generation of leaders. The Turning Point movement needs to keep growing. It needs to flourish. Faith, family and freedom needs to return to the forefront. People want the American dream, and Socialism is the antithesis of that, as is Islam.

But we are losing. You mention Faith, Family, and Freedom.
Faith – we don’t say Merry Christmas, it’s now Happy Holidays.
Family – it’s now it takes a village.
Freedom – the government takes care of them, gives them things – they don’t need freedom, just the government.

This is truly one of the best throws I’ve ever seen. If you go through the NFL archives, you can find hundreds of amazing plays and throws by QB’s, so finding a single play or throw that is the best is gonna be really hard. This throw though was pretty impressive in my opinion.

Not sure it was all ‘planned’ when KC made the throw.
Sure he wanted to get the ball to AT which meant getting it over the defender covering him. Seems like he could have put it a little further and toward the sideline and gotten the same results. AT would have stretched for the catch and the defenders would have been a little further from the ball.

TLDR version, partly good throw, partly good catch, and a healthy dose of good luck.
