Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts

Hump day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m in the middle of two redemptions (where I remove all personal property from a home after a foreclosure and get it ready to sell), and I’m about 80% certain that the front wheel bearing is going to hell in my pickup. I made it back home, but it didn’t sound good by the time I got there. I take it in to my mechanic this morning, hopefully he can have me rolling again by the end of the day. This is the first real mechanical issue I’ve had with this pickup, and it has almost 280,000 miles on it.

Vikings and NFL News

For those of you who can’t get enough mock drafts, Vikings.com has version 1.0 of their Vikings 2026 Mock Draft Tracker.

The Vikings are projected to be one of three teams in the hunt to sign QB Daniel Jones this off-season, per The Sporting News.

The Titans hired former Giants HC Brian Daboll to be their offensive coordinator, per NFL.com.

Bill Bilichick was not selected to the NFL Hall of Fame on his first ballot, per CBS Sports. Ridiculous, but we already knew that the Hall of Fame selection is a farce, it took Cris Carter 5 tries to get in, which is criminal.

From ESPN, Mike McCarthy definitely would like Aaron Rodgers to return as the Steelers’ QB. Didn’t Rodgers get McCarthy fired in Green Bay?

Media Selection

Thread Guidelines

  • Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

Supreme Court’s 8-1 ruling allows the Trump administration to end Temporary Protected Status for 300,000 Venezuelan migrants.

The decision overturns a California district court’s injunction, affirming DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s February 2026 memo that TPS extensions under prior administrations contradicted national interests, with only Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson dissenting on procedural overreach.

To bad that they have to go to the SC every time to get things done.

I am worried about the Tariff decision. They have been saying for months now that it will be announced any day. Lots of bad ramifications if we lose that one.

Ok the Belichick HOF discussion.

They changed the rule of eligibility from 5 years of waiting to a one year wait for coaches.

Lombardi, Shula, Walsh, Gibbs, Parcells didn’t get in at one year.

Belichick will get in at some point.

Bill Polian. Former professional football executive. He rose to league prominence as the general manager of the Buffalo Bills, building a team that participated in four straight Super Bowls (never won). He’s a muckity muck in the NFL and one of the 50 voters for the Hall of Fame. Apparently carries some weight.

Here’s my idea for how to make the country better immediately. Pass a law that makes it illegal (felony) for any elected official to lie to the public. Penalty is immediate removal from office, and lifetime ban on any future elected office pursuits at any level.

Not spouting opinions or overstating/exaggerating things, lying. Like when you say a President has acted unlawfully or unconstitutionally when he or she has not. You could say “I believe” the President may have… but not state things as facts that are not.

Things would get much better, very quickly.

lie is an assertion that is believed to be false, typically used with the intention of deceiving or misleading someone.’

They could never agree on what was a Lie.
Trump believes that the 2020 election was stolen so when he states that it is not a Lie, it may be factually wrong but belief matters.

*side note, I believe the election was rigged’.

Because the ability to ‘lie’ skillfully is now considered a qualification to be a politician. The ability to dodge tough questions, deceive and misinform is now a skill.
Politician, PR and Marketing people go to special experts to develop and sharpen these ‘lie’ skills.
And while this statement may sound sad, a great many people don’t want to hear the straight truth. Would rather hear what they want to hear.
You couldn’t pass the law you suggest because there isn’t a politican in Washington that would sign on to it.

(Here, easier to read?)

NFL is going downhill in every way.

  • Sports betting is ruining the trustworthiness of the outcomes
  • Reffing getting worse, which happens to coincide with the betting lines
  • Adding games for more money, risking injuries more and more and ruining the watchability of the late season
  • Streaming games exclusively on multiple streaming services, even playoff games
  • Saturating the week with games on most nights, making the game less prepared, less healthy, and not allowing fans’ yearning to watch games build until the next weekend (lowering the desire to watch overall)
  • Woke junk messaging being thrown at the fans
  • Bringing in a Spanish singing America hater to perform at the super bowl
  • And now playing games with the Hall of Fame ballot, denying perhaps the greatest coach of all time an easy first-ballot entrance (because feelings were hurt, maybe, by the press?)

It gets worse and worse. More people I talk to (big football fans) say they don’t watch the NFL anymore. Not a surprise to see why. For some it started way back when players were kneeling for the anthem.

And hearing the calls by media talking heads and even Mike Peirra saying we need full time refs. Total joke.

Why in the hell would 50-60 year olds running with pro athletes, making split second calls, get any better if they were in the office full time?

Total stupid argument.

Last I knew, most of them have other careers. Hochuli was a lawyer I believe. I think the argument behind making them full time is that they would be able to have some sort of training program, etc between games. Another issue I see there is that if somebody like Hochuli has a good career and they are forced to choose between that or being an NFL ref, how many good refs would you lose because they’d rather keep their real job than deal with the growing pressure on NFL refs?

It has been pitched before. The NFL will never allow it – they don’t want accountability for bad/missed calls, or someone making a blunder and admitting they were supposed to favor one team in their calls for the game. 0% chance it happens as the NFL doesn’t want transparency or fairness.

Interesting take, but bringing Burrow in would create the infamous “QB controversy” and we can’t have that now can we?

That said, how badly did the organization botch the QB situation last offseason? To me, in retrospect, that was the biggest reason we ended up where we did. Sam Howell? Really? Then cut him just before the season starts and bring in Wentz? WTF? KAM absolutely blew that completely.
