Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
By the time you read this, I will have left Florida to head back to Bismarck, sadly. I love home, but I really love visiting Florida and am always bummed when we have to leave. If it were up to me, we’d move down here. I’d love to get a second residence down here somewhere, I’d want to find a smaller town or rural property, though. I grilled fresh swordfish and shrimp last night, it was superb, I impressed myself.
Bears-Bills D.J. Moore Trade
Everyone is saying the Bears got the better end of the D.J. Moore trade, but I think the Bills won that trade. A 2nd round pick has maybe a 25% chance of being a starter in the NFL, and the Bills got a durable, upper tier WR for that pick. Moore’s stats were a little sparse the past couple years, but I think he’ll thrive in Buffalo. Being in that offense with James Cook in the backfield and Josh Allen throwing to him will easily get Moore back over 1,000 yards next year. My guess is he’ll be closer to 1,500 yards than 1,000. The Bears wind up with a pick that has a 75% chance of busting. The Bills also get a 5th round pick from the Bears, which is barely worth mentioning, but I’ll mention it anyway.
Fort Lauderdale-Places We Enjoyed
Marriott Oceana Palms resort. We love these Marriott resorts, and this one was the nicest one we’ve been to so far. This one is a high rise type resort, but it was really quiet and the views of the ocean were amazing. I should really talk to Marriott about advertising on here. Marriott’s Oceana Palms | Beachfront Vacation Ownership Hotel

Loggerhead Marine Life Center. We enjoyed this place, it was more of a laid back thing to do in town but we learned a lot & it was something different to do. They rescue sea turtles, and we were able to view quite a few of them and learn more about them. Pretty cool creatures. My wife & son enjoyed it more than I did, but I didn’t mind it. I can have fun most anywhere. Loggerhead Marinelife Center – Ocean & Sea Turtle Conservation in Juno Beach, FL
Lighthouse Cove Adventure Mini Golf. We’re suckers for mini-golf, and this place was a lot of fun, we had a great time. We finished one course, and were partially finished with the second course, but we were hungry so we left to go eat (also, there were two groups of blue hairs ahead of us, so it would’ve been a long back 9, so we said eff it and vaminosed).
Buccaneers Waterfront Bar and Grill, excellent seafood, a little loud and above average on the “upscale chart”, but great food and service. Kiddo had a soup with a mix of lobster, mussels, and calamari, ’twas awesome. This was only about an hour from the resort where we stayed. Home – Buccaneer Waterfront Bar & Grill – Steak and Seafood Restaurant in Palm Beach Shores, Fl
Schooners, excellent atmosphere and great seafood. This was a little less upscale-y but the food and service were excellent. Loved this place in Jupiter FL. Home – Schooners Seafood Restaurant | Jupiter Landmark Since 1984
Sailfish Restaurant. Excellent seafood and service, we had lunch here & it was unreal. We sat right there on the patio overlooking the water, lots of huge yachts coming and going, it was a really cool place, our waitress was awesome. Restaurant – Sailfish Marina

On Lunchbreak at Vikings.com, they look at the free agency list and more analysis from the combine.
From NFL.com, Alec Pierce is ready to test the free agency market. I’ll bet he is. I got excited when I hit $50 on a scratch card earlier today, I can’t imagine how giddy I’d be knowing that an 8-figure annual contract is coming my way soon.
From NFL.com, a synopsis and details on the D.J. Moore trade from the Bears to the Bills.

I don’t think I’ve shared any of these on here yet, and that’s a damn shame. This is Dora the Grownup, enjoy!

Wow… lot of money for a CB…
Where do they get all of the money?
So the talk is, we’ll get Murray for vet minimum ($1.3M) because the Cardinals have to pay his salary this year. That’s great, but what does Murray want? Does he want a one year deal with the Vikings, or a 3 year deal somewhere else? The way we go through QB’s here, he’s liable to be out next year.
Something to consider. We seem to want a one year deal with a QB, not a long term deal.
And I can buy a bag of crap for 50 cents.
Why buy something at any price that won’t work.
Because KOC believes he can ‘fix him’ and the Wilf’s want to show that they are ‘trying to win’ by bringing in ‘A Name’??
Fix him. KOC inherited Cousins and many in the sports world give Shanahan a lot of credit for straightening out Darnold. So, KOC fixed the astronaunt, Mullens, Hall, McCarthy and last years college backup?
Aint like KOC really has much of a high batting average “fixing” QB’s.
Just saying.
Salient point.
And thinking about this, is there some crazy element in the Viking world that wants us to pick up crappy or throw aways from other teams (which are crappy teams too).
You have someone offering you a bag of crap for 50 cents?
Socialism is the theory that if you abolish profit, bread will somehow bake itself out of moral superiority.
An older, white haired man walked into a jewelry store on a Friday night with a beautiful young woman on his arm. He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend.
The jeweler looked through his stock and came out with a $5000 ring.
The old man said, “No. I would like to see something more special.”
At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought out another ring. “Here’s a stunning ring at only $40,000,” he said. The young lady’s eyes sparkled, and her body trembled with excitement.
The old man, seeing this, said, “We’ll take it!”
The jeweler asked how payment would be made, and the old man said, “By check, but I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I’ll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds. I’ll pick the ring up Monday afternoon.”
Monday morning, the jeweler phoned the old man, “There’s no money in that account.”
“I know!” said the old man. “But let me tell you about my weekend!”
Even The Teacher liked that one.

Colts…
Prefer, well duh.
Getting more is always good-er.
They would probably even ‘Prefer’ multiple 1st round draft picks.
I’d prefer to sleep with a supermodel, but that ain’t happening either.
Laughing
Does a ‘Supermodel’ from Mens Monthly Magazine count??
Asking for a friend. #grin
Doesn’t matter, still not happening
Prefer – I’d like to be 30 yers younger and look like Brad Pitt.
Laughing… so hard… me too.
At noon EST tomorrow, free agents may begin agreeing to contract terms with teams (also known as the legal tampering period).
This period lasts until Wednesday, when players can officially sign their deals.
During the two-day period, each club may conduct one call of no longer than one hour with no more than five free agents. The player’s agent must participate in the call.
We’ll see who the Vikings call just over 18 hours from now.
First time using the black stone in a few months, as it’s been a brutal winter.
Dinner….it was good.
Man… good job there! Looks deliicous!
Can’t wait to get mine set up.
Used the smoker for the first time since December.
Although since I bought a flat-top I do use that more often than the smoker.
Food looks delish!
OK… I officially don’t think this is a realistic ask…
Ask for the moon and then negotiate down/back?
Standard DJT/Art Of The Deal type stuff.
ew.
Maybe a round 3-4 pick? Not seeing any reason to sacrifice a #1 for that.
A bidding war could break out??
They’d be lucky to get a 5th for him.
Rickie is playing with Viktor Hovland today and they are the featured group on the ESPN+ broadcast today on-line. Get to watch all his shots.
Scott seems to have some juice.
We seem to be following Ludford’s plan/prediction pretty closely so far.
https://www.dailynorseman.com/minnesota-vikings-2026-offseason/95221/can-the-vikings-afford-to-be-players-in-free-agency
That guy sucks
Wife said she’s making spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread for lunch today, and some salad.
That girl loves me.
I do think we’ll trade Greenard. Just one of those things, money-wise. He’s gonna get paid. Might as well get something for him, and wish him well.
#23 and #54 in the draft? Yeah we’ll take that.
For a quality OLB who wants to get paid more than we are willing/able to pay him?
Plus about $12M in increased cap space? Yes please.
I just don’t get these guys wanting new contracts when they can’t even play a whole season.
They only do it because it works more often than not.
I expect that their agents but that bug in their ears.
Spent the day yesterday at Bay Hill. Long day, got there at 9 and left about 730 due to rain delay.
It never ceases to amaze me how good those guys are. Watched all day and saw maybe two sort of flubbed shots, and both times the guy recovered well.
If there’s one thing I don’t think most ams realize – how very high those guys hit the ball. Their drives go higher than most ams hit a wedge.
NLV – saw Rickie hit a couple of poor shots, but he recovered well both times.
Overall, a great day.
Rickie definitely was a bit off yesterday. Still in the mix for a top 10 finish, maybe top 5 if he has a strong round today.
How was parking there? Believe it or not, back in 2003 I actually parked in the normal clubhouse parking lot (got there very early in the morning) for all 6 days I went. I ate breakfast in the clubhouse too all 6 days. I bet that isn’t the case these days though.
I took a mini bus from the neighborhood. There really is no parking close. Either pay someone to park in their yard or a big lot miles away and take a shuttle.
The club house is closed except for the pro shop for merchandise.
This is a great walking course to watch play from.
It’s a very well run event.
Yes, as I remember that parking lot was really small, which is why it’s still incredible I got to park in it. Too bad they don’t let you in the clubhouse. I had breakfast with Lee Westwood (if you remember him) one morning (think it was Tuesday). I spoke with Arnie alongside the putting green before his practice round Wednesday, and Bernhard Langer by the driving range. I was watching Ernie Els tee off on 9 Wednesday morning, and these two guys wanted him to get a picture with him. They got his attention after he teed off, beckoning him to come over to the ropes. Instead he motioned for them to come to him, and they asked me to take the picture with their camera. I obliged, and after we took the picture, Ernie let us walk up the fairway with him to his ball, and watch him hit his approach. He was very engaging and conversational. Vijay was also very friendly when I asked for his autograph, and we spoke for about 5 minutes while he was waiting to tee off on 15 that day.
Neat story. Especially about Vijay as he not noted as being the most engaging regarding fans.
True, but Vijay was very nice. He was smiling and we talked a little about the course and his game. I think it helped that I knew about some of his better days playing the game and mentioned them.
Was it really all that windy yesterday?
Im kind of sick and tired of the golf announcers saying that a 10 mph wind will effect a putt. Total BS imo.
🤷♂️
There was some wind but seemed pretty normal for Florida. I wouldn’t say it was all that much – maybe a half a club.
No way it would effect a putt.
Some Vikings sites have been highlighting Tyler Linderbaum as a possible addition to the Vikings now that Kelly has retired. I don’t think so. He’s looking to sign somewhere for $20M a year, and that’s just not in the cards for the Vikings.
Likely too steep of an asking price.
Yep… I think center is likely a target in the draft, but in the later rounds.
Went to Texas Roadhouse last night.
Kind of “meh” for me.
I had an 8 oz NY Strip and was very underwhelmed. Wife had a filet that was much better, although she ruined it by ordering Medium Well.
Sides were good, atmosphere was as expected. Yeast rolls were fine, but the Honey Cinnamon whipped butter was the star there.
We will probably go back since the service was very good, and they gave us a coupon for a free appetizer. I like free.
Next time I am just getting a burger though. Or maybe the pulled pork?
I like Texas Roadhouse. If I get steak I get a ribeye or filet. I like the pork chops too. They have homemade applesauce, and buttered corn that I really like, along with a baked potato. Yeast rolls are the bomb. It’s comfort food on steroids for me.
Makes sense on the cut. Ribeye or filet is certainly a better quality cut.
I just compared it to the Hy Vee NY Strip that is 1/2 the price and tasted much better.
For atmosphere I certainly would prefer Texas Roadhouse over Market Grille at Hy Vee.
I’m more with you – tenderloin is too lean and ribeye can be taste it many times will have a lot of fat strips (less quantity).
So I usually find the strip is the best of both worlds.
We like Texas Roadhouse.
It is not an ‘All Star’ but more like a solid choice for eating out.
I just get 6oz Sirloin when we go.
Its enough for me.
I don’t eat steak often, and I don’t want want pay $25 plus for a steak dinner.
I love roadhouse.
The catfish is pretty good.
Burn!
😆 🤣 😂
‘Burn!’
Not sure I get the joke.
In fact I am sure that I don’t get the joke.
What am I missing??
The Burn is that
“Justin Jefferson will FINALLY have an elite QB”
The tweet is insulting Kirko Chainz, since most of us realize Kirko is not, nor has he ever been, ELITE and anything other than getting paid big dollars and shopping at Kohls.
I was just posting that I had figured it out.
Once I realized who had posted it.
And scoring passing TD’s. 15th all time, and 2 behind Elway in 50 fewer games. That’s all. One of the most prolific passing QB’s ever, and certainly the most prolific passing QB in Vikings history.
Not elite.
Never has been.
So setting franchise records everywhere he’s played isn’t elite huh?
I am on record here as saying Kirko is much preferred over Kyler Murray.
I do not expect the team would win a championship with either.
Elite or not, what were Jefferson’ stats in 22 with Cousins throwing him the ball? Maybe his best season or perhaps 21 was – but same QB.
And that is the point of the tweet saying Kyler Murray would be the first pairing of Jefferson with an Elite QB.
It is probably a very unintentional burn on Kirko, but it is a burn on Kirko.
It may or not be, but Murray is hardly elite and would be a very poor fit for our style of offense.
I could care, at this point for an elite QB, just want a hell of a lot better than we say last year.
we can go a long way with very good in my opinion.
It is a wrong take. Murray is known for his running ability, not his passing ability.
I guess this Friday Thread passed right thru Sunday and arrived at Tuesday. # Grin
Ever hear of Fran Tarkenton?
As you can see, he holds all of the standard Vikings passing records. He’s also in the HOF.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/min/career-passing.htm
Yeah… in 177 games. He never had a passer rating or production numbers per game anywhere near Cousins but go ahead and act like Cousins isn’t the most prolific passing QB the Vikings have ever had. He has more 300 and 400 yard games than any other franchise QB, and produced for 6 seasons at a level no other Vikings QB ever did over the course of 88 games.
None of Kirkos stats mean a thing vs the game Tark played.
The passing game was much different in the 70s.
Fran Tarkenton had a much larger impact on the game both for the Vikings and the NFL as a whole.
Kirko is just another very good arm in a prolific passing era.
The stats are the stats Surly and my statement stands. Regardless of era. I said Cousins is the most prolific passing QB over 6 years of any QB in Vikings history, and that is absolutely true. If you extrapolate his numbers over 177 games he blows Tarkenton away in every category. That’s reality. I always state reality.
Great.
Captain stats Kirko did not change the way defenses play.
Tark did.
Kirk is a good passer in a passing league, and the only way he gets into the HOF is if he buys a ticket.
Not even worth a comparison.
You don’t get it. You can’t accumulate the stats Cousins has without playing great. It’s impossible in the NFL.
Exactly.
Totally different game.
And Tark is still top 20 from when the league was running and defense and smash mouth hits.
No other QB from that era is in the top 20.
Which is why Tark is the HOF.
What makes it 60% chance?
Math??
Poly market betting.
Murray is a fast, elusive QB and he has a good arm. I don’t know if he can run KOC’s adaptive route passing offense though. To date, only one QB has been able to successfully execute it the way KOC designed it. He has had to adjust it for every other QB that has come in. Thus if Murray comes in, the first thing that will happen will be determining how much, and how fast he can process. Murray is accustomed to being a playmaker, using his legs effectively to create big plays. I haven’t watched him much, so I can’t say how well he processes and goes through progressions. I know the Cardinals were unhappy with his study habits. Word was he wanted to play video games, more than watch film. They even wrote a clause in his contract to include mandatory film study time, but it got removed after it came out in public. Murray denied he wasn’t watching film. Still, I wonder about him in that regard.
I have a Citizen SkyHawk watch I bought at the MacDill Exchange about 10 years ago. It has a connection to a satellite to maintain accurate time, and it changes automatically for daylight savings time. Great watch.
It doesn’t feel like a Friday.
Doesn’t feel like a Sunday either.
Throw in ‘Spring Forward’ and it definitely feels ‘off’.
But at least the Crock Pot Duck turned out pretty well.
Surprised The Teacher with it and she said it was ‘quite tasty’.
Mark one for the ‘Bold and Stupid Cook’. #grin
I don’t recall the last time I had duck. Like most birds, it can dry out too fast and then it is not good.
The recipe called for a ‘Butter Coating’ on the bird, that didn’t work too well so I just did a lot of basting.
All in all not dry at all.
Update…
Still no report on The Hitman??
His contract voids in 2026, so unless they re-sign him, he’s off the team.
Hmmmm… this is interesting…
Greenard is under contract thru 2027.
Crosby until the end of the 2029 season.
From what I can find anyway.
Yes, the idea I guess is to trade Greenard, which will dump his cap hit, AND add draft picks.
I have heard that he is looking for a raise, maybe thinking of a ‘soft sit out’ ala Hock??
He’s definitely looking for a raise. So yeah, the Vikings aren’t interested in paying him what he wants.
At 11 a.m. CDT on Monday, the NFL legal tampering period will officially begin, meaning the Minnesota Vikings and other teams across the league can legally start negotiating with free agents in less than 40 hours.
Shortly after the opening bell rings, insiders will start reporting handshake agreements that cannot become official until March 11, when the new league year begins.
Do you think the Vikings come out swinging and grab Murray or another QB immediately?
And now we know…
The odds were that would happen.
If you believe that his dip in production were related to the QB mess we had last year it makes some sense.
Any idea what our current cap space is? I am thinking north of $20M but I might have missed something.
I haven’t been tracking the cap math, but I think it’s around $25M right now, which is about the bare minimum we need to sign the draft picks. It may be more though.
Ludford had this breakdown of what we will need on the DN.
He generally knows what he is talking about when discussing the nuts and bolts.
https://www.dailynorseman.com/minnesota-vikings-2026-offseason/95221/can-the-vikings-afford-to-be-players-in-free-agency
Good read there. Thanks for sharing!
Statistically, the Bears were a pretty bad defense this past year. Yet they went 11-6 and won the Division. If that defense improves a little, they might be repeat Division winners.
Lucky us…
Yup,
We dodged a bit of a bullet there.
meh, let’s not pretend Crosby is some second coming of Lawrence Taylor, he’s good, but I could easily name 5 guys better right now. Two first round picks was too much to give up for him, his contract isn’t terrible though.
Hmmmmm…
Durable tackling machine. Downhill guy. But is he good in coverage?
Great start for Rickie!
Winds are picking up at Bay Hill now. Blowing pretty hard. Gonna be a tough day out there. Rickie needs to figure out a way to shoot 68 or 69 today, and that’s going to be a tall task.
GF, I normally zoom past the words up top, so I just it today. That resort room looks awesome.
Watching the B1G Wrestling Tournament.
A Penn St wrestler just beat a guy with Pink Hair. Normally I root for the underdog but Pink Hair on a wrestler is just a bit much for me.
I sorta hope we keep Greenard. He’s an impact player who makes a difference when he’s on the field. Of course, since we’re still working on getting our fiscal house in order, trading him could be the best thing for the team in the long run. The Crosby trade set the bar pretty high in that regard. Wonder what his market looks like now?
He would be the only ‘starter’ that would be missed.
The 3 of them Ginkel, Dallas, and Greenard would be a great rotation and with injuries during the season they all would get lots of snaps.
Pretty expensive insurance though, Not exactly sure how good the backups behind them are. Decent I suspect but not at the level of those guys.
People say things like that, but to me our D-line play was pretty stout this year with Hargrave and Allen in there. Flores wants the D-line to move the O-line around, so his linebackers can make plays, plus stop the run. So you don’t get a lot of flashy stats for the D-line. Even so, they were ranked in the top 10 in the league.
Draft a DT like McDonald out Ohio St or Banks from Florida in the 1st round or Miller out of Georgia or Hunter out of Texas Tech in the 2nd. Along with Redmond and Rodriquez it would be as good and much cheaper IMHO.
Normally a team does not invest top draft picks on their D-line, but OK.
Even Jackson out of Florida St in the 3rd is a possible option. His draft profile reads
‘At 6’5″, 330 pounds, with over 35″ arms, Jackson is a force to be reckoned with from interior alignments. He’s a tree stump in run defense with elite point-of-attack strength and displacement absorption, and he also flashes the requisite power, torque, and motor to disrupt 1-on-1 and generate gravity as a pass-rusher’
Well that’s a nice narrative for a guy who has never set foot on an NFL field. Hype always gets folks in the draft. ALWAYS.
‘Hype always gets folks in the draft. ALWAYS.’
Yup, no college player who ever entered the draft worked out because they were ‘hyped’.
90% of them NEVER live up to their pre-draft hype, and you’re smart enough to know this SoCal.
So you went from ‘Always’ to ‘90%’.
Eventually you will get to a logical take.
Hype ALWAYS gets folks. For sure.
A quick check shows Batty, Chambliss, and Bo Richter as our backups.
Still the same, a 2nd and a later round pick. Could be part of another trade like a trade up in the first round, like Vikings pick 18 and greenard for a top ten pick.
thing with him is he reportedly wants a raise, problem is he’s coming off a season in which he didn’t play as well as previously and had injuries. Hard to justify a raise under those circumstances. I like him but if the Vikings get decent compensation it’s…
At this point, I’m not sure any team would give up anything, knowing the Vikings are likely to cut him.
I have not heard anything about a cut happening.
More like they don’t think they will resign him do to cost so they could wait for the trade deadline and get half a year of use out of him before they would have to let him walk.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life…
I thought yesterday was Sat all day long. Part of the reason is retired, plus our gym schedule was out of whack due to appointments and The Teachers trip to Urgent Care.
Build that wall….

In SoCal there is a Lake/Pond/Water Retention Basin/Park that has dozens of Geese and Duck. So many that they often get aggressive with kids and pets.
I often though ‘no one would miss one duck or goose around the holidays’. When the apocalypse came I am definitely going to pick up some fresh fowl before all of the illegals get to them.
Speaking of which I just put a Duck in the crockpot. They were on sale for only $2.25 lb so I grabbed one, then I found a Crockpot Duck Recipe. That is right up my alley, Score!!
https://www.themagicalslowcooker.com/slow-cooker-duck/
Hmmmm…
Yeah… it is a bold strategy. My wife isn’t thrilled with the deal. I was drinking my coffee when she said “this is dumber than dirt”. Almost made me spit coffee all over myself.
Jared Allen was worth the draft pick compensation we gave up. I don’t blame the Ravens. He’s proven talent and makes them scarier for sure.
He is a difference maker, glad they are in the AFC.
Plus Vegas is not competing for a couple of years and now they have the draft capital to build around their new, young QB.
Exactly.
Very happy he didn’t end up with the Bears or Pack as was rumored here and there.
Good. Hopefully he has a good, brain-healthy retirement.
Cool, we know is weakness, Bull Rush!!
how will they ever survive and field a team this year
But we had to cut 3
Vitalunderperforming Vets to make it work.Correct.
It’s really not that hard to figure out who is on the chopping block.
At least this year.
The cap stuff will get worked out – count on it.
Now, the QB situation, much more critical to the team’s success and it’s really iffy in my opinion.
Oh my goodness the Vikings are $40 over the cap!
Now they have around 30 mil in cap space
it is a myth
Can’t be.
We were told it was such a mess.
Gots to be fake
Ludwig von Mises obliterated the entire socialist project in 1920 with one devastating insight: “Where there is no free market, there is no pricing mechanism; without a pricing mechanism, there is no economic calculation.” The socialists spent the next century pretending this problem didn’t exist while their economies collapsed around them.
And yet here we are, watching politicians promise they can “fix” healthcare, housing, and energy markets through central planning. They can’t even calculate the cost of their own programs correctly — how exactly are they going to allocate resources across an entire economy?
Every Venezuelan breadline, every Soviet grain shortage, every Chinese famine was just von Mises being proven right in the most brutal way possible. But sure, let’s try democratic socialism this time. What could go wrong?
Ryan Kelly is retiring per an NFL alert I received.
NFL.com reporting this as well.
smart move.
his brain is already
Sucks because of how good he was when he was on the field but it’s smart on his part, 30 years ago he would have played another five years and ended up like Merrill Hoge.
Took The Teacher to Urgent Care to check on a possible infection. Her Dr couldn’t get her in today and she was hoping for antibiotics faster.
No one else in the waiting room. We were there a total of 35m, check in, called back, exam and release. In SoCal we would have been there for multiple hours crowded in with a bunch of ‘sickos’.
The difference in the two states continues to amaze me.
I simply can’t imagine what it would be like to live in CA.
My mom injured her leg while visiting us, We took her to Urgent Care, they said she was ‘out of network’ so we had to go to the ER. We sat there for over 4 hours to be seen, then another 2 for X-rays and treatment.
The Teacher was told by her Dr to go the ER for Blood Transfusion due to being anemic, she ended up having to stay in the ER overnight listening to addicts demanding pain killer to soothe their fix.
Idaho has been a blessing for that along with everything else.
almost as bad as living in minnesota.
Man I watched the Governor the other day before Congress. If people voted for him they must be taking stupid pills.
Think this frees up another $9M in cap space…
And…
Question as I don’t understand all this, is all this restructuring kicking the can and mortgaging the future?
Will the rosters come home?
‘all this restructuring’
You mean ‘both’ of them??
Well I read below ONE of the restructures has a hit of 72 Mil next year if player is traded or something. Seems less consequential whether it’s one or three players, the 72 million seems pretty big to me.
Am I missing something?
I regret you found the use of ‘all’ for two inappropriate.
JJ (WR) contract was always going to be a problem especially if he is traded.
Some have been some here ‘Dooming over Salary Cap Problems’ for months. There has always been and always will be such issues, I find panicking over them amusing.
I never worry about such stuff, way above my pay grade as a simple fan.
But one aspect of this doesn’t quite add up to me (from business).
Many here have said 26 is not our year as we will be building to the future. If that’s the case, why would you push money from this year to burden yourself later when you ‘plan’ to compete.
We theorized all along that the Vikings would be shedding players and restructuring contracts, since we started out $43M in the hole against the cap for 2026. We have released three starters, and the center (Kelly) we brought in last year is now retiring due to his concussion history. The restructuring just reduces the cap hit this year, and pushes it into the future.
So we’re down four starters and have pushed $27M of cap space into the future at this point.
Feel free to continue to Doom’ and I will continue to be amused by it.
I just state reality.
Well they obviously don’t see the situation the same way. They seem to believe that they are a decent QB away from competing.
Are they wrong? Don’t know but I can see the logic. Can they fix it? Don’t know but again I can see the logic.
Well, no GM stuff as I don’t know, but believe in general from business you have to WIN in the short run as well as always be preparing to win the future also. It’s not either/or.
Last year, in my opinion with good QB play we could have won the division. Some will claim that’s not good enough – OK. But it’s a good start in the right direction to me.
You ain’t going to win any SB’s if you can’t win your division. And our division is strong.
Here’s where we’re at with the cap thus far. Not sure exactly how much cap space we have right now to be honest.
Bows post from an hour ago say about $15M.
Landed, now just have to wait for folks to retrieve their 1,200 carry-ons.
my favorite is as soon as the plane gets to the terminal and takes the seatbelt sign off EVERYONE gets up as if they can walk right off the plane.
idiots.
I like to face the back of the plane and say, “I wonder how long it would take if we were trapped on here to start eating people…for me, I’d say a day and a half tops!” Usually I get let off first.
Yup, then after they do open the doors so you can leave, the 400 pound person with 17 carry-ons can clog up the aisle for 10 minutes while they waddle around & retrieve them all. I hate flying, wish I could fly private again.
The Vikings are currently under the cap??
But we were told for months ad nauseam how big of a problem it would be to get cap compliant. How they would likely have no depth after all of the drastic steps they would have to take.
Sounds like they’re going to have at least $20 million to play with still too. Possibly more depending on who else is traded or cut.
I heard/read that they could get to $100M if they went all out.
No need to do that unless they went big on a QB, but they could.
Interesting take on Richardson from a GM.
‘if you really did your work on him at Florida, they were running five plays. It wasn’t a real offense, and the Colts haven’t done much to bring him along. Would I give them a six, maybe a five, if I had a situation where I want to create some packages and get him on the field in certain situations? I could see that. But he would be a pass for me now as a starting option.”

So why would a QB genius like KOC care about him and almost trade up to get him in the draft? Was that report not true?
If we don’t end up with Murray we could get his backup instead?
