Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
It has been kind of fun watching the teams scramble after certain free agents, and ignoring others(Kirko). I also think many people including me are overreacting to our QB situation. I agree that the team has not gotten what we hoped for out of JJ McFragile yet, but he could still pan out to be a very good QB. This season will be interesting. I still do not want Kyler Murray on this team. He should go try baseball.

Happy Hump Day!

BREAKING: Kyler Murray has entered the Vikings facility for his physical, Kevin O’Connell
is there to help him up onto the doctor’s table.
Italy beats Mexico 9-1.
Italy and the US advance.
Hmmmm… guess that’s good. Can the Americans do better in the next round?
They better.
I think the coach wanted to get everyone a chance to play (they are all good players) thinking we could take Italy easily. Italy is better than expected, as shown by them beating us 8-6 and Mexico 9-1, and that cost us.
New round, new teams to play, probably us and Japan in the finals again.
My take on Murray is he will continue playing his style of ball. He has to. That’s who he is. He will do a better job of hitting our receivers than McCarthy did though. That’s not a stretch because McCarthy is the worst passer in the NFL. Murray doesn’t tend to put up 300+ yard games as a matter of course. He has 15 in his career. 225 to 235 yards is what I expect to see. Also, he’s never thrown more than 26 TD’s in a season and only achieved that once, but I suspect he’s going do that with Vikings. He could throw some interceptions too, as he averages around 11 a season. All in all, I don’t expect to see explosive numbers, but I do expect to see some quality play. I’m hard pressed to guess how many games we’ll win, because teams win games, and injuries can derail a season. All things being equal though, I think 10 wins would be a reasonable expectation.
At this stage The Midget is better than JJ (QB) so hopefully at least competent.
He also gets injured frequently so JJ (QB) should be able to get his reps in at some point during the season probably.
I am thinking 70% chance of Murray and 30% JJ (QB) to start and play meaningful reps.
We don’t need much to be a playoff team, our roster is supposedly QB proof. Then once we get into the playoff we have a chance. No one expected Seattle or New England at the beginning of last year.
If nothing else it should be interesting.
Just checking in.
Have we signed the midget, yet?
How pathetic are we?…
I was down on Darnold, harshly so, when he was brought in.
So now I don’t feel qualified to express an opinion on ‘The Midget’.
For now I will just maintain my default setting when dealing with Minn sports; ‘Hope for the best but expect the worst’.
Very, I’m afraid. Soon we’ll have our own midget to go with the rest of the clown show…
Italy just went up 5-0 on Mexico in the World Baseball Classic.
From what I deduce on the graph/chart down below (Bow Posted) that means the USA advances no matter who ultimately wins the game.
But I was wrong once so it could happen again.
With Murray reportedly in our going to Minnesota for a physical, did anybody make sure to have a step stool ready so he can get on the exam table?
Laughing
Just read that the ravens engaged in contract talks with Hendrickson before they backed out of the Crosby deal, ravens GM said he was “gutted” about welching on the deal. The only thing that he was gutted about was finding out he could sign Hendrickson without giving up two first round picks, so he corrected that move. that guy is a turd.
Situational Ethics is a thing.
Politicians play it all the time.
I personally aspire to have a higher level of ethics than a politician. Of all the core values I believe integrity to be the most importance, without it none of the other are really possible. The ravens GM has none.
I was inferring that the Ravens GM was equal to a politician so not complimentary at all.
He should have done his due diligence prior to agreeing to the trade.
This exactly.
Teams will think at least twice now before even considering making any deals with the Ravens. What a prick move.
Trash move.
There’s doing what you can legally do, and then there’s doing what’s the right thing to do.
Dallas trading away a pair of DL. Getting ready for a run at Crosby??
Likely not believable….
It is clearly a good thing that I am but a simply fan because to my untrained eyes he seems like an absolutely terrible fit for KOC’s offense.
Live look at KOC/Murray at TCO…..
Well plaid
This is probably a yugely unpopular opinion but I would like to see the Vikings sign Jimmy G. He has a ton of experience in versions of KOCs offense from his time with the 9ers and Rams. He’s not a midget, he has had success playing with good offensive pieces and a solid defense. He would be a better fit in KOCs offense than Murray. Plus he’d actually be a decent mentor for JJ.
I have wondered why no one talks about him as a possibility.
Yeah idk, I do know the women of Minnesota would be in favor
Believe Jimmy G got exposed a little when he went to the Raiders. With the Niners he could throw a lot of 5 yard type throws to Kidlde and Deabo for big run after catch plays. With the Raiders, he had a lot of problems making deeper type throws to Adams.
Reasonable.
I think he would be a better Option than Murray.
Now that’s not something you see someone say on this site very often
Sounds kinda reasonable. Expect the Vikings to do the exact opposite.
The highest CAY/Cmp (completed air yards per completion) for Kyler Murray’s career was 6.0 in 2021. He’s been at 4.3, 4.7, and 5.1 from 2022-2024, respectively. Last year during the 5 games it was 3.8 (!).
For comparison, Matthew Stafford’s last year was 7.4 and his lowest the last three years was 6.0.
Josh Allen started his career at 6.5+ for the first 4 years, then 7.5, but then down to 6.1, 5.6, and 5.3 the last three years, respectively.
JJM’s last year was 6.7.
Was Kyler’s a product of the offense? Sure. But yikes that’s so low. Even Bo Nix has been at 4.5 and 4.7, and he’s a Checkdown Charlie.
FYI, Brissett was 5.7 last year with AZ.
So you’re saying he’ll throw short of the sticks on 4th and 8? Asking for children of aunts.
‘CAY/Cmp (completed air yards per completion)’
Is this a real stat? Does it actually correlate to anything meaningful?? Do real people, aka not nurds, really care about this made up stat???
A lot of these metrics are interesting data points, but as you say, what do they really mean? Higher number intones the QB threw the ball on deeper routes more often, but there’s a lot that goes into that. Pass rush, receiver separation, play calls, etc. If you’re playing West Coast ball control offense, you’re throwing a lot of balls quick, and short. If you’re running Arians no risk it, no biscuit, four verticals every play offense, you’re gonna probably have a lot more air yards.
Yet successful offenses tend to push downfield, right?
I think it’s a good stat to see if the QB is reading downfield and throwing downfield consistently.
It’s interesting that Brissett had a much higher CAY/Cmp in the same offense as Kyler.
Drake Maye was 4.8 his rookie year. He was 7.5 last year.
Also, FYI, Kirk was between 6.0 and 6.7 each year from 2020-2024. He was 4.4 in ATL.
Not sure of this stat (NBD).
I had read some while back, like 20 0r 21 stats. Mahomes lead the league with completions of 20 plus yards in the air. And Cousins was second in the league – his was like 3200 of his 4300 yard total.
If I’m remembering those number correctly, those 6 plus figures would seem low as there are a hell of a lot of 20 plus yards here.
Play design is about attacking a defense in a specific way, sometimes even a specific player. A QB may not be working “downfield” as part of the scheme. Executing an offense is about running plays as designed and as called. So no, the QB doesn’t just get to look as far downfield as he can, and let it fly. Not at all. He runs the offense efficiently, and if that is throwing the ball underneath 70% of the time, that’s the plan. That’s what he does. All QB’s want to uncork the long ball, but going three and out over and over isn’t gonna get you anywhere.
It’s more accurate than Y/A (yards per attempt) because that can include yards after catch. It shows if the QB is trying to throw intermediate or deep routes more often.
What was JJ’s?
6.7
That sounds not terrible
Agreed
It’s actually really good, but KOC wants to do that. He runs a lot of deeper routes. For instance in 2024 Darnold who threw the ball 545 times, averaged 6.72 air yards. McCarthy only had 243 attempts, and only 140 completions in 2025, but KOC takes deep shots. He lets the QB throw the deep ball. Scheme makes a huge difference in this stat.
It only shows the play calls are putting the QB in a position to throw the ball deeper. That’s all. It’s more an indicator of scheme, than QB play.
Today is the day that the state trauma committee visits my little hospital that I call home to review the whole trauma program from EMS all the way up to the hallowed halls of radiology.
After a long day of reviewing charts, looking at procedure manuals, visiting with staff, etc…all associated staff met in the board room with the committee. There was some discussion about how we handle trauma, communicate trauma, manage trauma, transfer trauma.
I slammed my fists on the table and screamed:
NO ONE HAS MORE TRAUMA THAN A FUCKING MINNESOTA VIKINGS FAN!
The room was silent. You could hear a pin drop.
Finally, the surgeon in charge of the committee spoke up timidly and said we were going to receive our trauma designation for the full three year cycle.
I took a bow and left.
Who hurt you doc?
The Vikings, and when they said show me on the doll where they hurt him he pointed to his testes, where the Vikings have kicked him every year of his life.
^^^THIS^^^
Like this guy?
I hear Crosby is available.
So a team can be ‘in contact’ with a the agent of another teams player who is under contract?
Hargrave to the FTP. 2 yrs $23M
Watch him have a career year
As we like to say… the draft is a crapshoot.
With the release of Kyler Murray, just three of the 29 first-round quarterbacks drafted in the second decade of this millennium (2010-19) remain with the teams that took them.
Those three: Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.
Depends a lot on where you go and who your coach is. Two are future HOF in Reid and harbaugh, McDermott is a good coach, all three stable situations.
If you’re going to quote people, you should really give them credit.
That’s weird to include all the way back to 2010. Not many players have 15-year careers.
Still crazy though for those seven to ten years back.
No no, he thought that thought first and Albert Breer took it from him. Iv been telling him to quote his sources for years. Dude would fail any college writing class for plagiarism.
He’s an internet Hee Man don’t you know.
I do whatever I want Bow… if it bugs you scroll past my comments.
The law doesn’t like plagiarism.
I’m laughing at you so hard right now…. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Given the size of our rather smallish community at this site, it never hurts to be thoughtful and understanding of each other.
Not going to support blatant and repeated plagiarism. That’s what the dumb kids in high school do. An intelligent adult shouldn’t have to do that. At least rephrase a bit and stop copy and pasting other people’s posts. That is literally grounds for a lawsuit.
Total bullshit!!!
Plagiarism on this site – that is a total joke.
How many original ideas and thoughts do you hear around here, that you haven’t heard elsewhere?
And if we were to go the “nonplagaiaism route”. who is the ONE AND ONLY POSTER around here that can actually take a football play and dissect what the defense is doing, the offense and receivers, and what the QB’s reads are?
Everyone else posts regurditated crap from someone else or what some so called expert says.
You are pole vaulting over mouse shit here.
I prefer quotations to original thoughts, it is much easier.
I collect quotations, books, notes, websites. Even original thoughts are inspired by things that we have heard before.
Exactly.
I took a writing class froma guy that had won the Penn Falkner Award for writing.
He said all great writers are great readers and have read just about every turn of a phrase. And build on that.
Not gonna have any effect on what I post or how I post it. So you can whine all you want. Never gonna have any affect on me . Ever.
Sometimes I’ll post the tweet, sometimes I’ll just cut and paste.
The end.
So they aren’t waiting any longer. Obviously no one wants to do a trade with them for Murray.
Both gone…
Hitman…
His contract expired, they basically just spread the ded cap over two years. I don’t think he’s coming back, it sure seemed at the end of the year like it was a swan song for him and ham, but I could be wrong and maybe he wants to play one more year.
Kelce was acting like he was done too and those Packers QBs like to do that repeatedly. I think he’s done, but who knows.
I hope he comes back for one more year just for the memes from wrenage
Not unexpected…
https://babylonbee.com/news/iran-warns-us-it-has-huge-stockpile-of-supreme-leaders
Aaron Jones coming back under a revised contract.
settle down, packer fan
I’ve been savaged!
I can’t think of a worse insult to call someone on a Viking Blog.
Downvote for you.
He has repeatedly cheered for the Vikings to lose.
$5.56M with $5M guaranteed
I had a gut feeling they might go after Kamara.
I was kind of hoping they would find a way to bring him back at a reduced rate, though I think at this point he’s more of the backup/third down back and Mason will get mare Carrie’s than him.
How many Carrie’s does one need?
Hope it is not the one from the Stephen King novel/movie.
Man, imagine that Carrie and the neediest woman ever created in Carrie from sex and the city, be the 7th circle of hell
Never saw Sex and the City but I can still imagine, and it is horri-bad.
Yeah I saw a few episodes with a former girlfriend, there were some funny moments, but mostly just women complaining about how men don’t do what they want or give them enough attention.
This is data, and video of Murray on throws over 20 yards, with no pressure. You can decide for yourself what you think.
Yes, he is not the answer. Hope the young kid gets better.
My hope=0-17
Canadians obviously are the same as Minnesotans. So much negativity.
Either we keep kicking the can down the road, beating crappy teams while losing to good teams and finishing .500, or break out of this cycle by getting a good solid rebuild. #1 overall pick, clean start to the front office, lets start building defense defense defense.
even though people here were all about getting Mac jones apparently…..
People’s perspectives and opinions are theirs to hold. I am a data driven guy who watches QB play with a critical eye. I watch for how they operate and execute, not how athletically gifted they are.
There appeared to be pressure on several and quite a few of those throws were of him running full speed to his left when throwing – very difficult for a right hander.
This is why I said you can decide for yourself.
Yea, when a QB is running full speed with a lineman chasing him having to throw across his body that is perhaps the most difficult throw to make. And yet the title would lend one to believe easy pesy throws.
And I’m not a Murray fan.
What did your mother always tell you? Make good choices? If Murray chooses to launch a ball downfield, while on the run to his left, then the throw counts. Or… not?
If you’re trying to measure the quality of QB play, what the QB chooses to do has to factor into the equation. Right?
Yeah, being flushed from the pocket and throwing on the run equals ‘throwing from a clean pocket’ if that supports your narrative.
Yeah, I saw that too, running LEFT out of the pocket and trying to throw the ball 20 yards downfield against your body momentum….and it wasn’t that bad of a throw.
He clearly will fit in well with KOC’s offense. Jefferson will likely proclaim by mid season that the Vikings organization is where he wants to be forevermore.
We’re going to waste JJ’s career, like we have wasted so many other great careers.
Bingo. Even mildly competent QB play last year and we get a playoff berth. Average to good QB play and we may have won a game or two in the playoffs.
Not impressed. KOC might as well play QB himself.
Though he is obviously better than McCarthy, who is like 10X better than Kirk Cousins.
Maybe this is why the Ravens said they were going to trade for Crosby, but they never really wanted him and just waited for this guy to shave his head.
Legend.
All the pundits are saying Murray will be released today, but the Cardinals technically don’t have to release him today. They can keep him for four more days before a $19.5M guarantee for 2027 kicks in. IF they still think they can work a trade deal for him, they might play the hand out.
That tshirt though
Why do Muslims always wear robes?
Colts paid Jones…
Just what is the going rate for a good to very good QB nowadays?
He’s not a consistently good/very good QB though. He had 3/4 of a good season and then yes an injury. Will be interesting to see how “good” he is this season.
Ok, but pick another good QB. What’s the goiing rate?
I get that, the over inflated market and lack of overall QB talent in the league dictated this move. Doesn’t mean he’s worth that. Hopefully this type of thing corrects itself with with younger QBs hitting their stride and being worth the $$ or the bubble bursts.
So not the $55M he was reportedly asking for.
I guessed about $45M so I was closer to being right.
“I will try not to let it go to my head’.
Fezzik
The Princess Bride
$100M with incentives. Not sure what those are though.
$88M for two years = $44M a year.
$100M with incentives = $50M a year…
Still not $55M a year.
Closer to $45 since doubtful all of the incentives will be reached.
‘Victory is mine!!’
#grin
Hmmm… I thought 50 was closer to 55 than 44 was…
My prediction was $45M.
I believe he will make $2M of those incentives to bring him right to $45M.
The rest of the incentives are probably not realistic and just added so he can claim to be a $50M QB.
I would bet that the biggest incentives include things like winning the SB.
Looks like he will get $100,000 for each win, assuming he plays more than 50% of the team’s offensive snaps. That piece maxes out at $1.7 million each year.
He will also get $500,000 for a wild-card round win, a divisional-round win and a conference championship game win, with a $1 million incentive for a Super Bowl title. Again, this is providing he plays more than 50% of the team’s offensive snaps, and maxes out at $2.5 million in each year.
Another $550,000 play-time incentive is tied to making the playoffs. He will get $100,000 at 50% playtime for the regular season, $200,000 at 60%, $300,000 at 70%, $400,000 at 80% and $550,000 at 90%.
How does CNN even exist still?
And as they should, they are catching holy hell.
Believe they have now submitted some retraction and apology.
Total joke organization.
Trump is hilarious.
Is that an AI-created joke posted online?
Probably, but I wouldn’t put it past him after the auto pen picture he had hung up for Biden.
True
It’s real. Trump was mocking the Iran Government for an Iranian state media broadcast of an allegiance ceremony where the cutout substituted for Mojtaba’s physical presence.
Right, but I thought it was an AI-made video making fun of it online. The reporter seems too serious for it to be real. It seems like they took a real video of another unveiled painting and replaced it with the cardboard pic.
It is hard to get excited about watching more bad QB play this next season…..I hope the kid improves.
I hope for the same thing.
But then I always ‘Hope for the best but expect the worst’.
What’s the saying, hope in one hand and do something in the other, see which fills first? I’m guessing you’ll have a handful of shit based on that.
‘hope in one hand and do something in the other’
Those were ‘words to live by’ in the Army.
Oh the Army, it is certainly an adventure.
Well they did say ‘It is not just a job it’s an adventure’.
I tried to look at my time that way, it actually helped.
I actually really liked my time and glad I did it, but wouldn’t give 2 cents to do it again.
I was a dumb, lazy, clueless SoCal teen when I joined.
I needed it to get my head straight. I even likened it at the time to jumping straight into a pool rather than dipping a toe in and then gradually working your way into the waters.
Plus I was given only a couple of months to get out of the house after graduation from HS so I had to go somewhere.
“Flat-Pack Ayatollahs”??
They rolled out a cardboard cutout of the new Supreme leader at some meeting, because he wasn’t able to actually attend in person for some reason.
“some reason”. Yeah, he’s either already dead or close to it.
This is really how they introduced the new leader, not AI.
So Willis went to the Dolphins for 3 years at $67.5 million?
That is a pretty reasonable contract. What the heck?
I don’t know if I’d call it reasonable for a guy who has started all of 6 games in his career, maybe he is good, maybe he is another Matt Flynn
Seems anything under $25 mill is reasonable for a starting QB. The market is broken because there are only a few QBs worth anything, and they push the price up for all the losers.
Yeah I generally agree, there isn’t huge differences between elite and decent in terms of salary
Tale of 2 QBs through 10 games, one is supposedly really bad, one is supposedly really good. You have to cut one, which will it be?
Completion % – QB1-55% QB2-57.6%
Int.- QB1-20 QB2 – 12
Average pass length – QB1-6.23 yds QB2 – 6.7 yds
Average QB Rating – QB1 – 65.73 QB2 – 72.6
The one that is really bad duh.
He probably saves money/cap space and the fans won’t revolt over it.
Both suck
Is this some trick question to put your boy in a more favorable light?
of course
Well then the answer is obvious – cut McCarthy and keep the other guy.
I forgot the question because hot girl…
More like making the point that 10 games does not make a career and patience is needed. This fan base does not deserve to have a franchise QB or at this point even success. The amount of clamoring for acting like the Jets is dumb and I’m about to the point of saying F it, I hope management does it and burns the whole organization to the ground. Minnesotans must love misery. Cry about everything, elect stupid socialists and anti-Americans, raise taxes, give away constitutional rights. The Vikings could win the SB and half the fan base would still find something to bitch about.
Sometimes in life you get lucky and sometimes not.
And unfortunately for McCarthy (and the Vikings) he has spent the largest part of TWO years injured and unable to be on the field. It’s now year three and show time.
Bring in another good QB for a competition. If McCarthy wins, great let him play. At this point if he can’t beat out a new QB coming into our complex offensive system, that says something too. But all is not lost, he just needs to keep working harder on his game.
This team has a good if not very good defense. A smart offensive coach, elite receivers with a good enough line. We don’t need great QB play, just good to very good. To this end, I would not say Sam was elite last year in Seattle.
Yeah, if he can’t stay healthy, that’s one thing, but the constant yelling about how he sucks and will always suck after just 10 games is ridiculous. Give the kid a chance. A real chance. If he fails, then he fails. We’ve seen how well it has worked for teams like the Jets to pull the rug too early and I’d rather not end up there and I would once in my life see the team develop a QB that plays for 20 years instead of constantly bringing in some old guy at the end of his career.
So I think the Vikings coaching staff have seen all they need to see of McCarthy, and they know he is a very long way from coming close to being a decent QB. That’s why KOC said the “timeline” has changed. He has more issues than Carter’s has liver pills. He is the LEAST accurate passer in the NFL with a 59% on-target rate, and a 24.1% bad pass rate. KOC is seeing this and going… this is bad. This is real bad. He may never be good. The guy isn’t NFL material.
Because by the time you get to the NFL your ability to hit your target with a football is as developed as it’s gonna get for the most part. You can make incremental gains with practice, but you can either hit your target, or you can’t.
I generally agree it’s too early to give up on him, at the same time you can’t go into the season with a guy that’s missed 24 games the last two years. They need a better plan than trading for turd Howell and hastily signing Wentz
That’s perfectly understandable and I agree with that, but it is way too early to say he sucks and will never succeed. Anybody saying that just has a personal vendetta.
I didn’t realize JJ had so much political influence
Just a general pattern I’ve noticed with Minnesotans, no matter what part of the state they live in. I have to work with a couple and finally had to tell one to stop texting me because I can’t deal with the negativity. The whole state is a suck hole and I don’t think anybody would even know what to do with any modicum of success.
I live in the suck hole, in the worst part. People are generally more optimistic when you get out in the more rural areas, but when it comes to sports most all are pessimistic, I got to see two World Series championships, but many sports fans haven’t, the best they’ve seen is a Vikings or Timberwolves conference championship choke job. Kinda sad but over 30 years of ineptitude apparently does that to people.
Spot. On.
the 87 and 91 WS wins are still two of the greatest sports moments of my life. 91 in particular with how epic that series was.
then my beloved Huskers dominated the CFB landscape thru the 90’s. Life good.
all I need to top it off is a SB for my beloved Vikes.
I missed formation to stay home and watch the end of game 7 of that series. I was stationed in Europe at the time so it was an early morning game.
When I finally showed up and explained why they just did the ‘don’t do that again’ thing.
I thought if they are playing in game 7 of the WS again I would probably take whatever punishment they decide to give me.
Jack. Morris.
Finest post season pitching performance ever.
10 inning, complete game shutout.
TK knew better than to take him out, he didn’t want to get his ass kicked.
Reportedly he considered taking him out after 9 innings.
Jack demanded to stay in, Pitching coach supported him so TK said ‘What the heck, it is just a game’.
Morris would have punched him in the face.
I’m not sure about the Vikings ever winning the SB, but 87 and 91 were amazing, GF certainly loved game 7 of the 91 series. My grandfather was a yuge Nebraska football fan, always enjoyed watching games with him, especially the championships. Sometimes when I’m watching college football nowadays I see a great play and think about how Keith Jackson would have said whoa Nelly, or commented how the big uglies made it happen.
While watching the Cats championship game this year, I don’t know if I could take the stress of watching the Vikings in the SB. I guess we’ll test it watching the Wild win the cup in a few weeks.
Wild certainly have the talent, we’ll see if they have the coaching and heart to make that happen, we certainly know the oilers don’t, right MT?
Puckett’s walk off in game 6 is a memory that still can give me chills…..
I was on my feet as fatshit 12 year old dancing around the living room when that ball cleared.
Then game 7. Jack Morris.
doesn’t get better when you’re 12 and your favorite team wins it all.
I grew up in the rural part and have lots of family there still. It goes beyond sports.
It is hard to overstate how stupid you have to be to be a woke/lib/Dim now days.
Not even TDS is a good enough to explain it, did someone says DJT likes to eat rice so they have to save it from him???
Trump should come out and say he wants a bill passed that protects all puppies and kittens under 6 months old from being euthanized just to get democrats to argue in favor of killing puppies.
Kirk still sucks
Surgery went well, should be going home today.
Congrats.
Heal fast.
Take it easy for a few days. Penis reduction surgery takes a toll.
Yeah, that ex-vikings lineman needs to get that taken care of.
Yeah, I’m still recovering from mine
Speaking from experience??
I’m trans.
Which way?
Depends on the day.
Like Woody Allen said ‘Being Bi doubles your chance of getting a date on Friday night’.
I’m on my fifth. Sixth is scheduled for the summer.
Kirill got a pretty sick from the knee goal last night too. The Yurov goal was pretty sweet as well. Then Mackinnon got ejected on the way to an Avs loss to the Oilers. It was a good night in hockey. Also, the NHL playoff format is whack.
The playoff format is complete ass, makes no sense at all, why would you have #3 and #2 seeds playing each other first round? Just dumb
Yep, just to screw MN. Then they will change it next year after the Wild lose 1st round again for the 19th time.
They’re gonna get past Dallas and Colorado then the last 2 series will be cake walks.
Owners are going to have to make the change, that wanker Bettman is all in on that format.
It makes perfect sense to me. Division winner #1 plays the worst WC team, Division winner #2 plays the other WC team, and the 2 and 3’s in each division play one another.
Yeah that’s great except you have some divisions that are elite and others that are dogshit
It all evens out in the end. I feel dumber even having this conversation. Do you think the Wild would beat out the Oilers in the playoffs? Is that what this is about?
Yes the wild would beat the oilers, but no that’s not what it’s about.
They should have the 2 from the Central play the 3 from the Pacific and vice versa.
They are trying to minimize travel when the opening series is now seven games instead of the former five. A team in the central time zone and a team in the pacific time zone would have no rivalry, and were I a player wouldn’t enjoy the two hour difference.
FWIW I’ve always heard the eastern time zone teams have an advantage over the mountain or pacific teams because of the jet lag.
I’ve heard the same in the NFL for west coast teams traveling to the east coast.
They gotta make winning the division mean something.
Damnit I hadn’t gotten around to watching the quick recap of the game on YT TV. Way to spoil my farking morning by giving away the result of the Oilers game.
PS don’t bet the house on the Wild getting past the first round.
Sorry. I only watched the second half of the 3rd period, but it was pretty good.
Sad I missed the game. Loved the highlights this morning. KirKap is incredible. Yurov goal showed flashes of future awesomeness, too.
Looking at the box score this morning, I love the depth of our team. I think it’s better than it has been in a long while.
lol team italy baseball team has an espresso machine in their dugout….love that
You would.
cake eater
My daughter loves that movie, I actually enjoy it too, trunchbull could probably play center for the Vikings
I saw that last night but the sounds was off.
I thought they were drinking shots at first. #grin
How does the USA team lose to Italy? That would be like Canada losing to Brazil in hockey. What a bunch of losers.
Gave up too many HRs.
Italy had a decent Starting Pitcher, he was up 5-0 went he left.
So much for baseball being America’s game. I will laugh if they don’t even make it out of pool play.
Maybe next time our Manager will play his best players and play to win.
Must be why they beat usa
My relaxing day, I get to drive two hours into the middle of nowhere (Edgeley) and back. Mofitt road to 83 to hwy 13. Other than the 20-ish miles on 83, traffic will be non-existent.
I have a friend who is from Edgeley. Never heard of it anytime between when I met him 17 years ago and now. Haha
Edgeley has a decent small town golf course.
Edgeley/Kulm – I played baseball, basketball and ran track there.
Thanks Surly! Was just popping on to post the thread.
Dueling threads this morning??
FTP makes this one officially good.
You cannot convince me otherwise: The Ravens went back on the trade when they realized they could sign Hendrickson and keep their picks.
I think you are correct.
Yup, saw that theory going around late last night and it makes too much sense.
Yup
Smart move, if a bit dickish.
Not smart if you ever want to make a trade again
That GM will not be trusted going forward but he is short term for the most part. Getting back those 2 #1s is huge for the team. IMHO
Last GM was there for almost 20 years, this one likely won’t be pulling stunts like that
Absolutely, here’s an article about it, couple excerpts as well
Can you even do that in FF?
You couldn’t in Fantasy Baseball Leagues that I played in, it was all electronic and trades, one agreed to, were locked in.
It’d be like we had a verbal agreement, you picked up some other players based on that agreement, maybe even made a trade with another team and then when you put the trade together online I denied it.
So the league would kick you out due to a disagreement/misunderstanding between two owners??
Doubt any of the other owners or commissioner would care. They certainly didn’t in any league I was in.
Maybe FF is different, or longterm leagues made up of friends. I was only in Yahoo Public leagues with my brother.
I understood that we wanted Williams to begin with and we got him a few picks later and he was great for us.
But it certainly was a bad look for us at the time.
Yeah, another example of classic ravens bullshit
Happy Hump Day!
Rec for keeping up the good old Hump Day tradition.
