The post highlights eligibility for the free America the Beautiful Access Pass for U.S. citizens with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, as confirmed by the National Park Service, which recognizes diabetes as a permanent disability limiting major life activities; applications require a doctor’s statement and are processed via the USGS store for $10 shipping.

Good to know.
When I next go to a National Park I could play the Type 2 card. It sounds better like a better perk than a retired Vet gets.
It smacks of gaming the system to get a Dr/Chiropractor/Health Care Professional to sign off on a piece of paper. It is a minor perk, not going to get too worked up over it.

In 1480, an Ottoman army (18,000 men, under Gedik Ahmed Pasha) attacked the South Italian city of Otranto. After a 15-day siege, the city was captured. The surviving men (over 15) were given an ultimatum: convert to Islam or die. About 800 refused. They were led to the hill outside the city (now the Hill of the Martyrs). There, they were beheaded one by one.

The first was the tailor Antonio Primaldo, who cried out: “Now is the time to fight for our souls before the Lord.”

The archbishop was beheaded before the altar of the cathedral.
Other priests were sawn in half.

Women and children were sold as slaves or murdered. Total: tens of thousands dead and thousands in slavery.

This was no “normal” war but a religiously motivated slaughter of defenseless Christians who refused to renounce their faith. Islam has established itself through brutal slaughter of “non-believers” throughout the course of history. They are born terrorists.

So last night, I watched the TGL indoor virtual golf league that Tiger and Rory co-founded. It was kind of interesting to watch, and the matches went to the last hole where the team from L.A. beat the team from Jupiter. These two teams are in the “Finals” of the series championship. The playoffs are a best of three match series, and so L.A. is up 1-0. Tonight at 7 p.m. is the second match, and the third match if needed will be at 9 p.m.

Now think about that. What do you think are the chances that L.A. wins the second match, and the 9 p.m. telecast for the 3rd match is what? Canceled? Hmmmm…

I noted that the teams hit balls into a mat like any other golf simulator, and the resulting shot is created by a computer. Supposedly, trajectory, spin, and ball speed, are collected to produce the resulting outcome of the shot. However, in a match earlier this year, Rickie Fowler hit a tee shot that arced well right, and ended up in the water on the last, and deciding hole of his match. As he walked from the teeing area, he reportedly muttered there was no way he hit that ball with that kind of spin. SOOOO… Tiger will be playing for his team for the first time all year tonight, in a do or die situation for his team, and of course the 9 p.m. telecast on the line. Methinks there may be some “manipulation” of data tonight in Tiger’s favor.

The simulators I’ve used have been fairly good, but there are definite discrepancies and times where you hit a shot and there is just no way. I’ve heard a few complaints about the ones they are using which is surprising since I’m sure they’ve got something considerably more expensive than anything I have set eyes on, much less shot in.

Yeah… but in the end, this is just entertainment. So if Tiger holes out with his second shot on a par five to win the match, I’m good.

I have only hit balls on a simulator once. It was at a Dick’s Sporting Goods store and I was thinking about buying some new irons. The salesperson set me up with a number of 7 irons of various brands. I hit a few shots with each club, and the simulator came back with my numbers. First, every one of the clubs I hit went much farther than my own 7 iron, which I was hitting about 145 yards back then. Finally, I mishit one that apparently went 175 yards dead straight, with the most expensive club. It was ridiculous and obviously a scam. So I didn’t buy any clubs that day.

What people think modern liberalism is:

– Helping the poor
– Fighting inequality
– Protecting workers

What it actually is:

– Creating poverty through minimum wage laws that price out low-skilled workers
– Expanding inequality by inflating asset bubbles that benefit the rich
– Destroying jobs with regulations that crush small businesses while big corps lobby for exemptions

Modern liberal ideas don’t lift people up. They pull ladders away from climbers and call it compassion.

Every “progressive” policy creates the exact problems it claims to solve—then demands more government as the cure.

I made this point to a panel of scientists who were briefing the DoD on climate change back in 2008. I had researched the atmospheric levels before the brief. I was rebuffed as a “non-expert” and the scientists were truly angered by my somewhat dogged argument that their positions were nonsense. I was eventually asked to leave during a break by a Senior leader’s aide.

Global Warming never made any sense but it became a ‘religion’ for some.
The change to ‘Climate Change’ was merely an attempt to continue the scam. Our climate has been changing ever since Earth developed a climate.

Yep. If you remember, it was back in the 1970’s that folks started clamoring about global cooling, and the next ice age. Then 25 years later when the average global temperatures actually increased a bit, they changed their decries to global warming. Then 15 years later, that wasn’t actually occurring at the predicted rate, so they changed the whole narrative to the absolutely ridiculous “climate change” alarms. As you note the earth’s climate has been much hotter, and much colder throughout its history. “Man made” climate change based on “carbon emissions” is preposterous. Co2 is the fuel plants use to generate oxygen. Claiming we are producing too much, and it is affecting the climate is completely inane.

NLNVF, i enjoy and respect your posts, but on this point i disagree. I believe in glibal warming and CO2 is a contributing factor. The volume is not important it is the surface area. Golf is a good analogy. Hit you shot into a tree, and even though the leaves only take up a few percent of the volume, if you hit one, the ball gets deflected.

Energy radiating from the earth, back into space works the same way. That energy “pulse”, just has to hit one CO2 atom on its 60 mile trip through the atmosphere to get impacted, and deflected, so the heat radiates into the atmosphere.

That said, global warming has been going on (and off) for the 5 billion year history of our planet. CO2 is only one factor of it. Other factors include rotation wobble, annual revolution anamolies, continental shift, volcanic activity and shifts in oceanic currents, among others. Bottom line – my gas furnace has little, if any, impact

I was probably not the real good at making my point, sorry. My point is two-fold:

  1. I agree with almost everything you say about global warming. I have degrees in geology and chemistry, I get the science
  2. I disagree that the argument that since we have a small volume of CO2 that it cant be a driver. It is the surface area, not the volume that determines if it is a driver or not

In addition, new research (from Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, January 2026) points to a different master climate influencer, the world’s oceans. The study argues the geological thermostat is governed by calcium levels in the Earth’s crust and seafloor – not by the atmosphere and not CO2.

By ignoring the massive, natural role of chemical regulators of calcium levels, institutions may have created a mistaken narrative. They have treated CO2 as a planetary poison, ignoring its biological utility and the fact that it could have been the oceans all along – not the atmosphere – that is the master regulator.

It would mean we’ve been propelled down a costly dead end, while ignoring 66 million years of chemical history written in the oceans.

I have heard that The Athletic did a mock draft that had us trading up in the 1st round to pick Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame.

Move into the top 5 for a RB? I have no doubt Love is a great player but you can get effective RBs into the 200s in this draft. Plus RBs can be had in FA and I am not sure if spending the draft capital to get an excellent one is worth it in KOCs offense.

Jones is around one more year after that we need more, young runners.
Drafting one this year is a good idea I believe and we have the luxury of getting a mid round type and getting him in to develop for a year before we really need him to be a regular contributor.

One good thing about the draft this year is the time teams have to make their first-round pick has been reduced from 10 to 8 minutes. The league voted on this back in 2025, and changed the rule. It’s meant to “speed up the process” and reduce the time fans have to wait for selections.

I keep seeing posts saying things like “Dillon Thieneman is my dream pick for the Vikings at pick 18.” I think Thieneman is a decent player, but he’s not the next Kyle Hamilton (I’ve also seen a few comments like this). He’ll probably be a good player, but not a game changer. Teams won’t have to game plan for him. First round picks should be guys you think will be a true difference maker. Just my opinion, of course.

From what I have read Thieneman seems to be a ‘Multitool’ of a Safety, while McNeil-Warren is more the large physical hammer.
I guess it depends on what Coach Flo prefers, he is known to like ‘positional flexibility’ to keep the offenses guessing.

From what I’ve seen, that whole “multi-tool” narrative is based on the fact that he has lined up at free safety, strong safety, and slot coverage. In other words he’s a DB. He’s fast, and he does make a lot of tackles, which is good. He’s going to be a good NFL player. I don’t think he’ll be a guy defenses have to game-plan for though.

Since Cousins went down in 2023 with his Achilles injury, the Vikings have started 7 QB’s in our last 43 games. With Murray coming in, it’s likely we’ll be on our 8th starter since Cousins got hurt. The Packers on the other hand, have had three QB1’s since 1992. Still, replacing a competent and productive QB in the NFL isn’t easy. Finding that guy who can run the offense, make good decisions in a few seconds, and deliver the ball accurately isn’t as simple as drafting a guy, and handing him the reins. To date, the NFL draft continues to show that selecting a QB in the first round, is no guarantee of immediate success. How do you find the next Joe Burrow? In 2027 the pundits say the draft will be chock full of great QB’s with high potential. Do the Vikings take another highly touted college QB in 2027 that we’re told will be the start of our Super Bowl era?

Yeah, but my point is about finding a really good, competent QB more than talking about Cousins. I’ve never been a huge Murray fan, but I think he will at least be much better than anyone we’ve started under center since Cousins suffered his Achilles injury. I don’t think he’s a great processor, but rather he’s more of a playmaker type QB. Runs around, and makes plays with his legs at opportune times. His arm is better than people give him credit for though. If we can corral him a little and get him to operate the offense as designed, he could be really good.

We face a generation or two of “reverse indoctrination” to correct the course though. Have to teach our children that you can’t spend your way out of a $37T debt. Sure enough, a snow plow came by, and she started following it. She followed the plow for about forty-five minutes.

Finally, the truck driver got out and asked her what she was doing. She explained that her dad told her to follow a plow if she got stuck in a snowstorm.

Saw this. We have a silver set that has been in my family for many generations. So cleaning it is something I’m interested in.

A simple and effective method to clean silver involves using salt, baking soda, and aluminum foil. This technique utilizes an electrochemical reaction to remove tarnish without scrubbing.

Cleaning Process

Prepare the Container: Line a non-metal dish with aluminum foil, shiny side up.

Add Ingredients: Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of salt into the dish.

Place Silver: Arrange the tarnished silver pieces on the foil, ensuring they touch the foil but not each other.

Add Water: Pour boiling water into the dish until the silver is fully submerged.

Wait: Allow the items to soak for a few minutes to let the reaction occur.

How It Works

  • The aluminum foil acts as a reducing agent, transferring tarnish (sulfur) from the silver to the aluminum, effectively restoring the shine without harsh chemicals

Lydia Mugambe, a Ugandan UN judge and former Columbia University human rights fellow, was convicted in 2025 of modern slavery for exploiting a nanny as unpaid domestic labor in the UK.

Mugambe received a six-year-four-month sentence after a UK court ruled she trafficked and abused the victim, despite her advocacy against human rights abuses, underscoring profound professional hypocrisy.

Liberals always accuse and condemn others of what they’re actually doing.

I think it was a liberal in New York recently bragging about how great it was to have a Haitian refugee staying at her house because it was basically like she had a personal chef and cleaner but didn’t have to pay them.

I am going to have to adjust my mock draft strategy. I have been looking for a NT in the first few rounds but evidently Coach Flo isn’t a fan of those.

Brian Flores generally avoids using “true” run-stuffing nose tackles (0-technique space-eaters) because his defensive philosophy prioritizes positionless versatility, explosive movement, and aggressive blitzingover static line play’

Yeah, I’m thinking DT will be 2nd or 3rd round. Got 3 picks during that time. I think they’ll go corner or safety in 1st round. Unless a guy like Jeremiah Love falls, then you take him imo.

What a great day of sports yesterday! Probably the most basketball I’ve ever watched in a day. March madness hasn’t disappointed so far. Not really any Cinderella teams, but some good games yet to come. Congrats to Iowa for knocking out the defending champions. An Iowa/Nebraska match up in the sweet 16 is awesome. Congrats to the badger women’s hockey team on back to back frozen four championships. Last but not least, a big congrats to the women’s gophers basketball team for making the sweet 16 for the first time in 21 years.

I don’t watch the draft either. The sports pundits all think it’s a huge spectacle. ESPN and others are more focused on the hype and the entertainment value than anything else.

I’ll read about it later.

Every time I go to ESPN to get info on March Madness, they are featuring the women’s basketball tourney ahead of the men’s. I keep looking at the scores/times and getting mixed up.

I asked Google why ESPN is doing that, and AI responded that ESPN is trying to capitalize on the success of the 2024 —–2024!!!!—— women’s tourney ratings.

Hmmmmmmmm, why did the 2024 women’s tourney have such high ratings……hmmmmm……

Google wouldn’t even tell me why,

but we all know why:

Minnesota’s HF3865 centralizes rules for collector vehicles like classic cars and motorcycles, retaining event-only use while adding explicit allowance for daylight operation on Saturdays and Sundays—broadening prior restrictions to/from shows and parades.

So if you own a fully functional classic vehicle, Minnesota now “allows” you to take it to shows, and ALSO now allows you to operate it on Saturdays and Sundays during daylight hours. WTF?

We should have never drafted this guy at #10 in the first round. He was/is a total project. Not ready for the NFL at all, unlike Burrow. Burrow came out and immediately showed he belonged. McCarthy? He’s still a question mark.

It was a pretty crazy journey.

The fun excitement of drafting a QB.

The disappointment of the season ending injury.

Seeing him finally play.

Stabbing my eyes out at the results.

And now this weird no man’s land where his rookie contract is going to be up before he even does anything of note…

Yeah… I feel the same way. His abilities were not at all at an NFL level when we drafted him. Still there are a lot of people claiming he hasn’t gotten a chance yet to prove himself. He’s had a personal QB coach since he was in the 7th grade. He worked with John Harbaugh in college. Yet, today, he’s still developing, and there’s uncertainty on whether he is going to be able to come out this year and actually be QB1. Most doubt he will. Most think Murray will be QB1. If this happens, we totally whiffed on that #10 pick. I always go back to Burrow. In his first year, he immediately showed he had the arm and the brain to run an NFL offense. That’s a first round pick that was worthy of his selection.

Sooooo…..he’s working hard at trying to get better? That’s a good thing, right? Picking him at 10 may have been to high, but that’s hindsight now. I’m not ready to give up on him, 10 starts for f***s sake. Rodgers sat for 3 years. I’m glad to see that he’s working on his craft.

No longer New Vikings Fan

Well, right now he’s not ready, still working, going into his THIRD year. First round picks are first year starters, who are difference makers. They’re the top 32 college players in the Nation. McCarthy was the 10th best college player in the country, based on his draft position. As I said, he’s had a personal QB coach since the 7th grade, and was coached by John Harbaugh. He’s STILL a question mark after all that. I think he was bad pick at #10. A way bad pick. He’s a total project, and there’s no guarantee he’ll ever be good. Murray starting ahead of him this year means he’s basically still “working on his game”. You think a team should wait 4 years for the #10 pick in the draft to maybe start? I don’t feel that way. I think KOC and Brez brought Murray in because they don’t think McCarthy can do the job.
