Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts

Hump day!!!! Not much news out there, lots of speculation and verbal diarrhea around the NFL news world. Most of the headlines are about mock drafts or hypothetical trades based on nothing. Oh well, only a couple more weeks until the draft. I can’t wait, I have a feeling we may have our best draft in quite a while. No triangle of authority, no Spielman stockpiling 7th round picks, and no Wall Street dude trying to outsmart everyone. Let’s hope Brez & Co. can knock it out of the park.

Vikings & NFL News

Vikings.com posted version 6.0 of their Vikings 2026 Mock Draft Tracker, and on Lunchbreak, a former Vikings coordinator is tabbed for the HOF Award of Excellence, and Stephon Gilmore retired.

The Star-Tribune reported that the Vikings will begin OTAs following the Memorial Day weekend.

At NFL.com, Kirk Cousins sees Las Vegas as ‘a great opportunity to finish strong’. I didn’t listen to the presser, but I’ll venture a guess that he mentioned wanting to retire a Raider?

From ESPN, Fernando Mendoza will not attend the NFL draft, choosing to spend the moment with family instead. Good for him! Solid choice, the NFL draft is one event I have zero interest in attending, it seems like it would be immensely boring.

‘Yahoo Sports looks at how a trade with the Giants for Dexter Lawrence may happen.

Media Selection

I posted this in the comments yesterday, but I thought I’d put it up here, too. It’s an interesting conversation. Enjoy!

Thread Guidelines

  • Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

So Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio St, currently ranked about 4th overall dropped to us at #18 so I took him. One because he was BPA and 2nd cause our depth there could use the boost. ProFootballNetwork gave me a B- for the pick.
I guess at least it wasn’t a D. #sheesh

The Twinkies have showed up on YouTubeTV just now. They have won the last two games vs the Tigers so now that they are on TV chances are they will lose.
The Stadium looks pretty empty, not surprising at all.

Minn scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 1st so it will make it harder for them to blow this game. I still have faith that they can do it.

Greenard to Chiefs trade proposal.
Vikings get #9 and #109
Kansas City gets #18, #163 and Greenard.

Or do you like the version that includes former 1st Round Pick (#31), Edge Anudike-Uzomah, 6’3″, 255?

Depends who is available.
Caleb Downs?
Thieneman sometimes is drafted between 10 and 18 so chances of getting him are greater at #10?
Trades back to later in the first to target McNeal-Warren would be worth more?
I don’t know who else between 10-18 that the Vikings current braintrust would target at this point?

Me either. I haven’t invested any time looking at draft prospects this year. I don’t usually look at anything but the QB class, and this year I haven’t even done much of that frankly.

In my last mock draft, Downs actually fell to me all the way to 18, so I grabbed him. Otherwise, McNeal-Warren is someone I am regularly able to grab even trading down a bit. He often survives until mid-20s.

I had the opposite happen to me. Downs went at 15, McNeal-Warren went 16 and Thieneman went 17. My mock looked like crap after that.

Seems pricey if I’m the Chiefs.

Hope has been around for Alzheimer’s for over 10 years, yet not much has ever been publicized about this research. Why?

In 2011, a neuroscientist at MIT named Dr. Li-Huei Tsai made a discovery that should have been on the front page of every newspaper on Earth.

She exposed mice with advanced Alzheimer’s disease to a flickering light pulsing at exactly 40 Hz — forty flashes per second. Nothing else. No drugs. No surgery. Just light at a specific frequency.

Within one hour, the amyloid-beta plaques in their brains — the protein deposits that define Alzheimer’s — began to dissolve. Not slow. Not gradually. Within sixty minutes.

After seven days of daily 40 Hz exposure, plaque levels dropped by 50%. The mice regained memory function. Their neurons began firing in synchrony again. The brain’s immune cells — microglia — activated and started clearing the toxic buildup like a cleaning crew that had been asleep for years.

The study was published in Nature. The most prestigious scientific journal on the planet. Peer-reviewed. Replicated. Confirmed.

That was 2016. It is now 2026.

Here’s the section of the 14th Amendment that the democrats and RINOs hope you will never read:

Section 3

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.

I submit we have a number of representatives in Congress right now who violate this clause, and thus should be impeached.

The question is who gets to decide what qualifies as ‘given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof’.

The Biden Admin would have accused DJT of it when he ‘conspired with Russia’ to steal elections. A plot that the Woke/Dims/Libs/TDS types put together to discredit Trump.

Saw this commentary, and agree…

“Yesterday many “experts” told you we were headed for nuclear war & spent the entire day losing their minds. Today the Dow opens up 1300+ points, S&P rises nearly 3%, & oil has dropped $20 a barrel. As always, it pays to be rational.”

The mainstream media spends almost all their time and effort to fearmonger the public about everything Trump says and does, and every single time they’re wrong. Day by day though, they are slowly but surely losing their grip on the messaging control they built up since the 1960’s. People are seeing them for what they truly are. Leftist propaganda purveyors.

Twitter has many more conservative views being expressed than ever before, which is driving the left nuts. How dare rational thought and reality be allowed to prevail? How dare anyone question their insane positions?

This twitter post is based on Alec Lewis attributing Kwesi’s firing primarily due to his inability to align personnel staff vision with KOC’s coaching preferences and specific player evaluations. GM’s often diverge from the head coach’s preferences, but this appears to have been more excessive than the norm.

I took my Nephews to Chuck E. Cheese one time. I got about $20 in game coins. I split the coins into 3 piles and gave each nephew 1 each and kept the 3rd.
After they had a great time using up all of their coins they came back to the table and started eyeing my pile. Finally they asked for the coins and I asked what they were willing to do for them. They were stuck, they finally agreed to read a book of my choice each for the rest of the coins. I gave the teenagers War and Peace and Wuthering Heights. #grin

Laughing.

George Allen was coaching the Redskins when he coined that phrase, after being criticized for bring in the “over the hill gang” and eschewing young players.

When Allen became the new head coach for the Washington Redskins in 1971, the rebirth of the team occurred. They had for many years been a mediocre team at best. But when Allen got there, he changed the culture of that team in a very abrupt fashion. Almost overnight, the ho-hum Redskins became the vibrantly emotional Redskins.

One tenet of Allen’s coaching philosophy involved “who” he would be coaching. Allen believed that it was much more beneficial for his roster to possess older and more experienced players. So right from the start prior to his very first game at the helm in Washington, Allen went about obtaining quite a few of those older players by trading away most of his draft choices.

In effect, Allen was trading away the promise of his team’s future for the potential of his team’s present. The term he used for these moves was

“The Future is Now.”

Allen was slightly ahead of my football time.

I first became aware of the Redskins during the John Riggins and Theismann years.

They were always an outsider team to me. Then they thumped the Vikes in the playoffs in 1992. I think it was a battle between Mark Rypien and Sean Salisbury. We had the better record and the game was at home, and we still got stomped.

At least Rypien has a hot daughter, so I have forgiven him.

I remember that game in 92. Redskins ran the shit out of the ball with Brian Mitchell for almost 200 yards and their defense held the Vikings offense to under 150 total yards. Sean Salisbury got sacked a bunch of times and only completed like 6 passes or something.

We had a solid year that year at 11-5. Redskins were 9-7, so my child brain felt good about that game.

Then we looked like unprepared turds.

I think the Vikings were in the middle of a streak of like 7 playoff losses at that stage. We didn’t finally win one until we got the Giants in overtime because Matt Walsh managed to recover an onside kick.
