Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
We’ve made it to Friday! I should have much of the day off, kiddo is still home with chicken pox and my wife has a full day tomorrow. It’s supposed to be fairly warm here tomorrow, maybe we’ll get a chance to get a line wet.
Vikings & NFL News
From Sports Illustrated, the Vikings may be bringing 4 wide receivers in their top 30 visits with potential draft picks.
Also from SI, the NFL is under investigation for ‘anti-competitive tactics’ harming consumers. This doesn’t shock me one bit, the NFL doesn’t seem to care who they harm in their pursuit of maximizing revenue however they can.
Vikings.com looks at the wide receiver group in their 2026 NFL Draft prospects for the Vikings series.
New Browns HC Mike Monken thinks a simple solution will help the Browns flip a 180 from their long history of misery, he said that winning changes everything, according to NFL.com. Wow, so in order to stop losing, they just have to win. Wow, I’m shocked nobody else thought of this before. Monken may not last the season.
Robert Kraft saw the antitrust storm coming for the NFL a year ago, per NBC Sports.
The 2026 NFL schedule won’t be released until May, but here are some things we already know, according to CBS Sports.

Here’s another episode of Sassy the Sasquatch. Did any of you watch the first one yesterday? This is something Mjolnir would probably enjoy.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
I would say ‘of course not’ but winning is more important so some teams will say ‘of course’
As long as some owners believe his talent is worth more than the backlash he will get a contract.
Swalwell suspending his Gubernatorial campaign…
You know how bad it is when you’re a Dim and even Pelosi turns on you.
If the allegations are false, which mistakes is he talking about?
lol, Rory chocking today
Was, until the back nine
Well, he finished strong when it mattered. Hung in there, made some birdies on the back 9, and sealed the deal.
https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft is obviously racist.
Two LBs rated #50 and #52 with similar stats, One Jeff Golday, 6’4″, 240lbs, 9.85 RAS the other Anthony Hill, 6’3″, 238, 9.81 RAS. If I draft the slightly higher ranked and larger one, Golday, my pick is given a D grade. If I pick Hill I get a C+ grade.
Oh yeah, Golday is white and Hill is Black, that is the only-est explanation I can figure.
The draft rankings are all just perceptions based on measurable athletic data. Those two guys sound impressive. Who knows if they can be a difference making player in the NFL?
‘draft rankings are all just perceptions’
They are ‘opinions’ and as we know we all have them and they all stink.
Mel Kipers opinion is not any better than anyone here. Plus we don’t ‘get paid’ by agents for spouting a better opinion of their clients.
True. Every year we have draft experts predict the draft, and every year they get it wrong. Also, usually, I really don’t know most of the players taken. I just wait to see what happens when they’re actually playing on an NFL field against real pro’s to pass judgement.
I do mocks to learn more about the player and the draft.
Seems since I am a fan of the team I should try to be at least a little invested in the process.
Nice to have a little knowledge when talking to my brother or my son/son-in-laws.
There are many, many people like you that do mock drafts, try and learn about players, and see if they can come up with a salient list of players the team should consider. Then later, after a couple years, you can look back and see how good you were picking winners.
A few years ago, I attended a Notre Dame game against Florida State in Tallahassee with a friend. I saw Kyle Hamilton in the defensive backfield. Big, strong, and physical. I was impressed with his play. I never saw Cine play, but when the draft came around I was hoping we’d take Hamilton.
Happy Sunday
Merry Sunday to you as well VP.
Laughing… one day this will be all of us.
I would probably get up at 8 after that.
Qatar’s transport ministry announced full daytime resumption of maritime navigation for all vessels in the Persian Gulf starting April 12, 2026, from 6am-6pm, with round-the-clock access for fishing boats.
Maybe we should get a Masters thread? Not much else going on…..
Just waiting for the wheels to fall off on Rory.
I love that we should have a Sunday final with 5 or 6 golfers with a shot to win
Yep.
Total crap shoot.
Very welcoming hiring environment in Germany, for sure…
An excellent point.
One we made often when stationed in Germany.
A list of who the Vikings have met with to date. No grantees but perhaps some insight on what their draft strategy might look like.

I think he’s on Ozempic now.
50 years ago they came up with this bit as a ridiculous comedy scene… now we’re living it.
Monty Python Auto Rec.
I think this is from the Life of Brian movie.
Yes, I have seen it.
And Monty Python made/starred in The Life of Brain.
Yes…

‘4.90 million’
What number is that in Math?
4.9M? That doesn’t sounds like a record.
Too bad it doesn’t help the prices though (less available oil means higher prices, supply and demand,,,).
The price of oil dropped steadily for a year. For about 4 weeks it climbed up. Now it’s coming down again. We have plenty of supply for the demand.
Ever wonder just how hard Augusta National (Home of the Masters) actually is? It’s this hard…
I do that nearly every time I golf.
Likely the biggest reason KAM was fired…
But tell me more about how KOC sucks
KOC has shown an ability to coach a team to success. His first two years he had Cousins to run his offense while he refined it. A lot of his concepts just didn’t work, and a lot of his play calling was suspect. Still he had a QB with a fast brain and an accurate arm with a lot of reps with the receivers. In his 3rd year he got a lot out of Darnold, who was always a great passer but had issues between his ears. Whether Darnold had finally matured and experienced enough “stuff” in his career that his demons were vanquished, or KOC had just the right sauce, the offense worked. Then last year we simply took a big step back at QB. This coming season, we’ll see what we get out of the midget, and the draft.
He does. KAM wasn’t making these decisions on his own without input from the scouts and coaches. KAM also spent big after getting us out from under cap hell, so it wasn’t like there wasn’t an influx of talent.
I think this post highlights the GM did a bad job of drafting players. You can say he had bad advice from coaches and scouts, but that is theoretical. The team completely screwed up the QB position last year, and to me, that falls completely on the GM’s shoulders. Just my opinion.
Agreed.
Rory with a 6 shot lead going into the weekend at 12 under par. He hit a few foul balls along the way but recovered, and hit some great shots coming in, birdying the last four holes.
The Russini and Vrabel rumors are out. Some sort of fling/affair.
I don’t see any attraction with Russini.
She looks like a witch to me.
I have a write-up on it for the morning thread.
I don’t find her attractive. She’s a dumbass, too.
I’m done with tax returns and 65 hour work weeks.
Masters weekend of vegging….
An Arizona prisoner serving 16 life sentences killed three Pedos in one day.
He then called a journalist and said
‘”The taxpayers no longer have to pay for them,” he said. “I’m paying my debt to society.” He said his only regret was that he did not kill more. He had warned prison officials that he would kill anyone placed in his cell — they did not listen.”
That works for me.

I’m good with him killing pedophiles, saves money and it’s deserved.
This is where I am as well.
Not politically correct but evidently neither is protecting our kids from Pedos/Groomers/Woke
Yup. I’m pretty OK with people doing what they want, as long as they aren’t hurting others. They intentionally hurt kids, that’s death-worthy shit.
I consider that man to be rehabilitated, let him out.
Kern County Sheriff said that they ‘intentionally ran over’ and killed a man who shot and killed a policeman. ‘Don’t shoot at Cops or we will run you over. He got what he deserved’.
Kern County was were I worked and the SoCal house was just inside the county line. It was why we managed to hang on there as long as we did.

Rory had a great start yesterday, defending his title at the Masters. Hopefully he keeps it going this afternoon.
Rory is a smug jackass – hope he completely falls apart.
Wow… Rory is anything but a smug jackass… he’s one of the most open players out there regarding his fears and struggles, and I think shown he’s emotionally vulnerable.
‘he’s one of the most open players out there’
So he is ‘Open’ about being a ‘smug jackass’?
I have no idea, nor do I care either way, just swinging at the low hanging fruit. #grin
Hmmm…..
Ok. I tend to sense that about some people.
I can kinda see your point with Rory.
Overall, I personally don’t sense much of that with Rory.
Interesting that you catch that vibe with Rory, but nothing with Kirko.
Kirko is higher on that meter than Rory to me.

Mornin Surly, yes to all that!
No trade mock draft. Just let it all come to me…
No first round Safety. Please for the love of God.
It is a change from taking a CB, though!
It seems that their grading system like it when you take whomever is ‘top rated’ when you are ‘on the clock’. Also if your picks meet their ‘positions of need’ for the Vikings, even if their list of needs is outdated.
Yeah, it seems that way. McNeil-Warren was slated to go a little later, but I just took him at 18, so it dinged me on the grade.
I had Downs drop to me at #18 yesterday. Of course I took him and they gave me a A+ grade. That launched me to an A- for the entire draft, the highest grade I have gotten for a full draft.
I have had Downs drop to me a couple times, too. I noticed Love is no longer dropping. He’s going pre-10 most times now.
Caleb Banks is another player I’ve seen drop a good 10 spots or more regularly.
Banks injured his foot again at the combine and had his 3rd surgery on it in the last 18 months. He only played in a few games last year due to it.
He is a beast when healthy, he just has not been healthy for awhile.
