Vikings & NFL News
The Vikings have agreed to terms with Jauan Jennings on a one year deal worth up to $12 million (which is coincidentally about the same amount they saved trading Greenard). Seems like a reasonable amount for an established NFL WR. Though he doesn’t fit every characteristic, he is a tough, gritty, lunch pail type of player and a massive upgrade over what they have behind JJ and Addison.
Old Friend Taylor Heineke announced his retirement, can’t help but wonder what might have been if he hadn’t kicked in a glass door in training camp and messed up his foot the year Teddy’s knee exploded.
The Vikings list of GM candidates they have requested interviews with is quite long. The only name I recognize is John McKay, who I only recogonize because I read he is the grandson of the great John McKay, who was a college and NFL HC. He famously answered a question about his thoughts on his teams execution with, “I’m all for it”. His teams weren’t particularly successful in Tampa Bay, but people forget he won 4 National Championships at USC. All that said, it doesn’t mean his grandson would make a good GM, but he has worked with KOC before. My guess is Bryzskesexkinsy will end up with the job, but the Vikings are casting a wide net.
- Los Angeles Chargers assistant GM Chad Alexander
- San Francisco 49ers assistant GM RJ Gillen
- Buffalo Bills assistant GM Terrance Gray
- Los Angeles Rams assistant GM John McKay
- Seattle Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley
- Tennessee Titans assistant GM Dave Ziegler

Played 9 holes today and shot 43. Greens had been aerated and were bumpy as heck. Hit and hope with the putter. First hole was a dogleg left and I tried to hit a draw down the right side. Hit the ball really solid, but it went straight and ended up in the woods. Had a clear shot to the green though, and a swing with my hybrid. Clean lie, but sandy. Hit it perfect, right at the pin. Landed on the green and ran through to the back fringe. Hit my first putt of the day and it ended up way short on the slow bumpy green. Took two more putts from there. Kinda how the rest of the day went. Hit some solid shots, but getting up and down was difficult. Only parred 2 holes, one of them on a par 3. Hit a nice 7 wood from 165 to about 20 feet. The other was on a par 5.
43 is a good score for me – yeah the bumpy greens suck – like you said, just hit and hope. I shot an 89 yesterday, too many doubles (5), had 4 pars and a beautiful bird on a 175 yard par 3 into a slight breeze – hit a 4 hybrid on a sank a 20 footer.
Happens to the best……
I second the, Happy Mother’s Day sentiment.
Happy Mothers Day Everyone.
Make sure you do something nice for the Mothers in your life.
I told The Teacher to ‘Sleep In’ today, retirement is rough on her.
#grin
First year without my Mom.
😢
Sorry DE.
That is rough.
She is in a better place!
Best way to look at it IMHO. It was what I did when my brother passed.
Harder on the people left behind.
Condolences.
It’s good.
She had long life.
just wierd.
My mom passed in 2017. It sucks.
I’m lucky, I have two moms, no I wasn’t raised by lesbians, I have my mom and also my stepmom, who married my father when I was two so all I ever remember is having two moms. I consider it a blessing to have to get twice the presents every year.
Twice the support/love/assistance is a good/great thing.
Glad that they could work together.
Me when I check the twins game in the 10th inning
They still won 2-1 in the 11th.
And they ended up with 2 hits, the same number as the Indians.
Yeah, when I checked I saw both teams only had one and immediately Bob ueker popped into my head, probably the best commentator in mlb historyhistory, some will say vin skully, he was a legend as well, but ueker added a humor no one else ever had.
They are up to 13 hits at the moment at the top of the 9th.
It would be nice to see them get at least one more and pad the lead for the closer.
Yesterday I had my 40 year reunion for my seminary/Bible college class. Of course, when you reach our age, part of the conversation is about who died. We have been somewhat fortunate as we could only come up with about 2. One of those that had already passed was one of my roommates. I also realized after 4.5 hours of chatting, that the reason that I didn’t remember most of the stories was because all of the people that were there were not part of my closer friends group when I was at school. It still was a good time of catching up, except for that one of my classmates revealed that he was just diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. It is tough getting old.
Carry on with your Saturday.
My 50th High School reunion is coming up this year.
I would rather dig my eyes out with a spoon than attend.
Another good reason to move out of Commiefornia.
Glad that you enjoyed yours though.
Stop sugar coating it, tell us how you really feel!
Don’t tell me what to do!!
You are not the Boss of me!!!
#grin
Laughing…
50th??? You are as old as dirt. The Vikes need to bring a championship home for you in the next few years!
I can’t resist
so is that like 1 & 3/4, or 2 & 1/4
RIP to your former classmates
Yes.
Funny shit…
AI or lots of practice/attempts/takes??
Studio C, a comic group. I always think of this when I play Poker with my boys.
Hilarious
Golfers get it…
Got Wordle in two this morning, so a good start to the day. Anyone else get it in two? Gotta take the car to the car wash this morning. Actually taking both cars.
Good morning, SKOL, and FTP.
Easy word today, but 3
I flip flop with STARE and TASER as my first word. Today I went with TASER.
I always go with adieu
Good starting word for sure.
Must have made quite an impression.
Wife is making some BBQ wings. I had the red beans and rice earlier, but I’m peckish now.
Now that sucks…
Good deal!!!
At least he is saying good things.
It is a start, I have high hopes for the young man.
Yep. Same.
Stay away from Banks’ foot…dammit!,
I like it!
Looks like fun.
Hope it doesn’t work out like most of KOCs trick plays do.
Impressive???
Honestly, for a D-lineman, it’s pretty good to me.
17 – 0!!!!!!!
I’m looking at video’s of these rookies from all the teams on-line. They’re physically impressive in drills. Hopefully our guys will be impressive in games.
Oh yes, a 325lb man knocking over stationary balloons looks sooooo good.. To each his own I guess.
Those dummies weigh at least 125 lbs, so they aren’t exactly balloons. The footwork and balance while on the move was what I was looking at.
All of the weight is at the bottom, ‘Weebels wobble but they don’t fall down’.
He weights 325 lbs, 125 pounds is nothing to him.
fat fruit
Most athletic chubby guy I ever saw play ball, like a baseball version of Charles Barkley
Awesome player!
1991, game 6. Kirby told the team to climb on his back and he would carry them to game 7. 3 for 4, including a triple and game winning homer.
It was awesome!
I remember that, remember 87 too, Jack Buck was an American treasure
I can’t remember the player, but he just received his first check and Kirby asked him if it was his first big check. The other player said yes, Kirby pulled out a wad of cash and asked him if he wanted him to cash it.
Epic.
Pretty interesting new bits about the Titanic sinking. Some interesting theories iv never heard before.
I was at that game for my 60th bday. I still have nightmares
Laughing
Ooo i had forgotten about schedule release! Would like to get to a road game this year. Ideally some place warm. Maybe even Tampa Bay.
I’m definitely going to the Tampa game.
There is a chance we might be going to that one too!
Who is hosting the party?
NLNV is.
As you should
You guys can hang out????
The only close one for me is the Jets..Jets..Jets!!
Yesterday afternoon I went and inspected my hives…the queens were anxiously rattling the bars of their cage, and their retinue were dutifully standing outside the cage handing them treats and pressing their thoraces against the bars. After rudely sweeping the retinue away I peeled open the screen and set them on the top bars of the hive. The queens exited in a regal fashion, shook their wings, and descended into the depths of the frames of the hive. The bees had drawn out about four frames of comb, on to the egg laying. I will check next weekend for eggs in brood in the comb.
I find this post equal parts interesting and disturbing
Why they have JJ ((QB) listed?
MM (Midget Murray) is the good-er option.
I posted this for DEI.
Are we supposed to pick one? The QB would be the most obvious pick.
There’s a chance McCarthy actually makes a quantum leap in his ability to play QB in the NFL and earns the starting role, but I wouldn’t bet on it. I almost think he’s QB3 right now.
Lets not forget Murray could not hold the job in Arizona. I feel like a lot of people appointed him as the messiah who will lead us to the promised land
We have three ‘Maybe’ QBs.
All have had medical issues recently.
Murray is the only one that has had any type of real success in the NFL (2 Pro Bowls), not like that is a guarantee to work here.
That makes him the ‘Leader in the Clubhouse’ MHO.
Wentz played on a Super Bowl winning team too.
Well he didn’t actually play on the team when they won the SB but but otherwise your point is valid.
LOL.
@QB wins are NOT a stat. Unless he was on the team riding the bench@
LOL, no one said anything about QB wins. Now did they?
Wentz played in 13 of the 16 games that year, and the team went 11-2 in those games. He threw 33 TD’s against 7 interceptions in those 13 games with a 101.9 passer rating. So he not only played, he played extremely well.
But you claim wins are NOT a QB Stat.
QB wins are not a stat. Correct. I never said Wentz won the games.
He did not ‘play on the team when they won the SB’ was my point.
He was injured. he was part of the team but did not play in the SB.
Correct. He tore his ACL in that 13th game, and still threw 4 TD’s. I said he played on a Super Bowl winning team. Didn’t say he played in the Super Bowl.
Wentz was very very good that year before he tore his ACL
No you just corrected me when I said he didn’t.
No, I said he played on a Super Bowl winning team. Then you said he didn’t actually play on the team, then I detailed he did.
Actually I said
‘Well he didn’t actually play on the team when they won the SB’ and he didn’t as he was injured for the SB.
But continue to as obtuse as you would like.
Just to name a few…..
Laughing. Hope not.
Definitely not the Ravens or the Chiefs, since the Vikings don’t play them.
Fair point, guess I was thinking if they made it to the bowl they would lose anyway to someone like the Ravens or Chiefs.
Genuinely worried about the run game. NOT ONE threat on the team. Hopefully they can generate stuff with the plethora of other weapons but Jones is at that age where he could be entirely ineffective this year, Mason doesn’t scare defenses either… So while there are a BUNCH of receiving/TE weapons the defense can key in on stopping that without much worry is my only worry.
I understand that concern, because our running game hasn’t exactly been a strength of the team. We did draft a RB (Demond Claiborne) who is supposed to be a bit of a scat back with speed, so maybe he can provide a spark.
An interesting stat. In yards per game we were 23rd (bottom of the middle) but in yards per carry we were 10th (top of the middle). So, while not a strength, it was not a weakness. I think an over reliance on the pass led to fewer offensive plays, but when we did run, we were ok
Deeper dive….we were 27th in rushing attempts and 28th in passing attempts. We just had a sucky offense, and i blame KOC
that’s a lot of 3 and outs, or a lot of big gainers (fewer attempts)
Well the QB sucked, so there’s that
Yes, the Claiborne kid ran a 4.37 at the combine. He is supposed to have good balance, shiftiness, and vision – but a little on the small side.
We did get a Fullback/TE that could add some yards depending on the situation.
H back type, like a much smaller version of kleinsasser
Let the chef COOK!
Less pressure on the QB though
On paper anyway….
It could be good.
So could the defense.
‘Hope for the best but expect the worst.’
#nojinx.
Flag! 12 men on the field! (We aren’t the Pack, so we can’t get away with that!)
True !
Have to go with 1 RB or 2 WR.
Probably 1 RB unless we are short yardage and then the 2nd one will probably be our new FB. Let the other two rotate and stay fresh.
Banks can’t even do that after his foot amputation
I made Reuben pizza for dinner last night, it was fantastic, I ate the rest for breakfast this morning, it was ok but not as good as usual cold next day pizza.
The wife asked if I wanted more red beans and rice with andouille sausage today as we were grocery shopping. I was like… oh yeah! So she’s cooking that right now. Got some Cuban bread to go with it.
I made this last night. Love breakfast foods for dinner.
The Teacher and I agreed that gravy was not really needed as long as bacon/sausage mixture was moist enough.
She wants to top hers with some salsa tonight as they should pair well.
Man that looks good SoCal. I saved the recipe. Thanks for sharing!
Pretty easy to make, even you could do it. Well you could if The Mexican would let you in the kitchen.
#grin
Laughing… indeed. That’s her domain. Do not enter!!!! I went in to make a cup of coffee this morning and she kicked me out.
Yuck…..
idk who reuben is but i’m glad you guys enjoyed it
Cold pizza is so wrong…
^^^ clearly Canadian
It is seriously sick. Like eating melted cheese on a piece of cardboard.
Surprised you didn’t get the reference
Lot’s of excitement for the Jennings signing. Keep in mind what he is and what he is not. He is a big, physical, willing-blocker, tough, sure-handed receiver.
He is not going to run by anyone. In fact, there could be folks on this thread who are faster than he is.
I’m in my prime.
I think Bow might give him a run for his money right now….I mean 4.72 is fast for normal humans but that is pretty slow for an NFL WR.
Sounds like the perfect guy on 3rd down when the defense is worried about JJ, Addison, Hock…
They have plenty of speedy speedy guys who can run good deeper developing routes while Jennings works underneath.
He reminds me of a Pierre Garcon type of receiver. Works the intermediate routes and makes the tough plays over the middle. QB’s love those guys on third down.
Agree with this…he is basically a glorified TE….which is fine.
Perhaps he can teach our WR’s how to NOT drop the ball this year
Adding Jennings to the offense might give us the best receiving corps in the league. Certainly way up there if not the best. Jennings will have to learn the offense though. It’s more than just running go routes and post patterns. 4 months to immerse himself in the play book and be able to execute the plays with precision. He has a lot learn.
Could say the same for Murray.
i am so ready to win 13 games with the midget at the helm, only to sign him to a big long term deal and then have us suck for 3-4 years with him
the sam darnold affect in reverse
STOP THAT!
I agree that is very possible. Worst possible outcome IMO is Murray playing just well enough to get overpaid.
And remember the other part of that. JJ McCarthy goes on to win multiple rings after being traded to the Chargers….
I think lots of folks feel that way about Murray. He’s a question mark in a lot of ways.
13 games hahaha
But liberals told everyone it was racist… so the organization caved.
Offense could be legit. Give Rob credit. $8mil with incentives is a bargain for a WR3 that can be a WR2 on a good day. Fun stuff!
Also believe the offense could be very good. But as you said below, all comes down to QB play.
Yes sir!
maybe we don’t need no stinkin GM….
got the best available WR to join up this year?? sweet.
superbowlllllllllllll bound
Love the optimism but #nojinx.
We have a lot of talent on offense. Should be able to make some noise.
Go Skins! LOL!
Taylor Heinicke retires from the NFL with a farewell salute to the Washington Redskins | OutKick
Heinicke… he thought a lot of himself.
Good morning, SKOL!
FTP!
Welcome to the Vikes, Mr. Jennings! SKOL!
FTPP Auto Rec.
Yesterday was a great day for me – I got to hold my first grandchild for the first time. A moving experience.
I apologize to all for my rants the other night; sometimes I take rules too literally.
It’s also kind of cold up here in Detroit. Was 90 when we left Orlando.
Awesome experience! Congrats!
congrats on that fun news!!
Grandkids are great. Congrats.
Another JJ on the roster.
Probably the best move of the off season.
The number 15 is already taken though.
We win the JJ sweepstakes?
If that rookie RB can flash this offense has all the pieces to be legit. As always, will come down to QB play. Its a season after a let down one, which means we are winning 12+ games. I’ll take two play off appearances please.
