Good to see him keeping up on his gaming…
I am not concerned with LAST year.
Let us see what he does THIS year.
Until Bernie, Liz and the Squad take over, we are still a capitalist country.
As such, supply and demand drive markets and pricing. And yes, even perceived disturbances to either supply or demand, will affect prices.
I have mentioned the Professional Pillow Fighting League here before.
Now I find that they have Adult Kickball Leagues, including in Murderapolis. I wonder if the Somalis have a team.
2min video
Takes all kinds, I guess…
I remember playing that in grade school.
I always tried to ‘bunt’ the ball and beat out the throw for some reason. It didn’t work as often as I would have liked. It lasted maybe one year.
But we did have a couple of guys who could boom the kick.
I think the last time I played kick ball was about 62 or 63 years ago…
So about in grade school then?
Soooo much different than me.
Kinda wondering why the media hasn’t been reporting more on this. According to U.S. CENTCOM, approximately 1,000 commercial vessels have crossed through the Strait of Hormuz in the last two months.
Iran has not been able to do anything about it, and commercial traffic through the Strait is slowly increasing.
Meanwhile, our blockade on Iran’s use Strait of Hormuz is costing the Iranian Regime $500M a day. The Regime’s entire annual budget is about $56B. The Regime can no longer pay its soldiers or security police, or anyone else for that matter.
Anyone who thinks our strategy isn’t working needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
Their TDS is telling them that DJT is messing it all up so it has to be true.
Iran is just stalling until the midterms so the Woke/Dim/TDS types can impeach him again. It is almost like they are working together. Dumbocrats have probably offered them planeloads of cash to not agree to a deal.
Iran does believe the Dem’s will win the midterms, does believe they will impeach Trump, or at least force him to stop the war, and they will outlast this. Elections have consequences. The protesters are returning to the streets again though. Also the Arab Nations are completely done with Iran. They want the Regime to be eviscerated, and ended. Iran keeps doing the only thing they have left to try and bully those Nations and bend a knee to them. Which is all that rhetoric about their streets will run with blood, etc, and sending some drones and missiles at them. Bessent is sending them Billions of dollars garnered from the sanctions on Iran though, to take care of any damage they cause. Iran is the most isolated it’s ever been. They are totally trapped, and totally neutered.
This strategy may or may not be a great one – I don’t know enough to comment.
But do believe the ” time table ” of the strategy is important. As you note, this is costing the Iranians big time money daily. At the same time the American consumer is paying higher energy prices that are now carrying over to the PPI and CPI. 60% of Americans don’t believe in the war and the number keeps increasing as this drags out.
A test of time (and will). Know Trump has it, does the American public?
Oil prices are coming down in case no one has noticed.
I just filled up and I didn’t notice. In fact, thought it was up a little.
You’re talking the cost of gas, which is a scam. The oil that was refined to make the gas you bought today was purchased on the market 3 to 4 months ago at around $70 a barrel. It should cost much less. But retailers use today’s oil prices to jack up the price of the gas in their tanks. Still oil will be back down to that $70 a barrel and likely lower soon. It closed at $90 a barrel Friday. “Experts” were predicting oil prices would jump to $150 a barrel or higher when the Strait of Hormuz restrictions started. Just watch, oil is moving once again, and the U.S. is exporting more oil than it ever has. China is now buying oil from Alaska. They were totally dependent on Iranian oil. Now, they’re getting oil from us and Venezuela.
Just heard a news flash on the news – Fox too, so not anti Trump.
Iranians have just launched a major missile attack into Israel. The claim is that they are putting the pressure on Trump as they believe he “won’t” hit back and needs to negotiate and get this over.
And by the way, believe who is “winning” is sort of relative. The Iranians goal is not winning per se, Their goal is to “survive.”
The reality is they can’t survive without capitulating, so they’re losing. They are trying to project a false sense of power with these strikes, which we’re well aware of. Israel and the U.S. have a death grip on Iran. They’re choking it to death. Also, Trump wants the Abraham Accords to succeed, which basically align the Arab world with Israel, so they’re interested in demonstrating that they are the ones acting with restraint. As I said, the Arabs are behind us in this though. We are still killing the remaining key leaders in Iran BTW. Got some commentary on that from my guys.
Retailers do not jack up prices. The prices are set by the refineries. The actual retailer makes very little and depends on in store purchases to keep the lights on.
The retailers actually do jack up the prices. They buy gas at a certain rate and fill their tanks. Then if the price of crude oil goes up, they raise their prices. So let’s say they paid $2 a gallon, and fill their tanks in the ground. They sell it at $3. Then the price of crude goes up, and that same gas they paid $2 for, they now sell at $3.25.
In Commifornia is was normal for gas to go up on successive days.
Same load of gas deliver to the station but the price kept going up.
And the state taxes had not even gone up during those few days. A miracle I know.
Yep… then when crude goes down, the price of gas comes down slowly. Goes up immediately, comes down slowly.
I understand that when the price goes up the retailers are behind the curve playing catchup.
So when it goes back down it is slow played so that they can recoup that money. Seems logical.
I don’t know what role Gas Companies play in the dynamic and how much is on the individual stations.
In SoCal under the worst of FJB we saw gas go up a couple of times a day. Not sure how they could justify that.
I don’t think our strategy is working. I think the Iranians are going to win this one. They will hang on through the Mid-Terms, Republicans are going to get beaten badly. Trump will then be a neutered president. The US will agree to a “peace” deal….the Iranians will get their cash and their nukes.
Hope to hell I am wrong.
You are. The folks will see oil prices continue to fall. They seem to equate the cost of oil with “winning” the war, which is actually stupid. We have turned the biggest terrorist threat in the world into a mouse who can no longer harm anyone. We destroyed their Navy, Air Force, nuclear capability, military industrial complex, missile sites, radar sites, munitions sites, and oh yeah, their economy too, but Iran is winning? We also killed off hundreds of their leaders and forces too. Their remaining military capability is stationed in hospitals, schools, and residential areas so we are not inclined to go after those assets right now. But they can’t put a nuclear warhead on a ballistic missile and fire it at Israel or Europe anymore. They’re a nothing burger in the world.
Sounds like most of Israel is catching missiles as we speak so it sounds like a few of those missile sites were missed. If the IRGC survives, that is winning for them. Weakening them is not enough. They need to be removed completely or this whole thing is a failure.
No, the sites remaining are in hospitals, schools, and residential areas. We aren’t inclined to destroy those and kill innocent people.
Dems win the house.
Senate is a toss up.
Trump impeached.
Iran keeps the nuclear material.
And Muslims attack Israel.
Same old same old.
Well like the last two times nothing will happen as it takes a 2/3 majority in the Senate to remove him, so basicly he can ignore it.
The bad part is if they take the House absolutely nothing will get done since they have to be Anti Trump or the crazies will come after them.
Why would you wonder this?
They will never report anything Trump does as a success.
True… oil is going down steadily, and all we hear is how Iran is winning, and how expensive gas is.
Gas is expensive
It will be coming down steadily very soon. Oil has been flowing through the Strait for almost two months, oil prices are dropping, and gas will come down soon. I didn’t hear anyone complain when Biden drove the cost of gas up dramatically in his first week in office either. Now it’s a crisis.
It is much worse now because it can be tied to DJT.
At least according to the Fake News.
Indeed
I had taco egg rolls last night, I’ve got plenty of gas today.
Laughing…
No doubt the hypocrisy is real.
Under FJB oil need to be high with gas to save the planet.
Fact of the matter is that gas prices are high. Regardless of the hypocrisy.
‘gas prices are high’
High is a relative term. They have been lower and they have been higher.
Fake News wants us to focus on the fact that Trump let the prices get higher than when he lowered them after Brandon.
And Trump had to replenish the strategic oil reserves after Biden sold them off to lower prices just before the 2022 midterm elections. Biden’s administration sold off more than 40 percent of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to help limit rising fuel prices leaving the stockpile at its lowest levels since the early 1980s.
Still Trumps fault.
Since they had to ‘Save Democracy’.
Laughing
Went out early today and played 9 holes. Went off the back 9 alone, and played in an hour and a half. Hit the ball decently, but didn’t make much. Shot 43, and was happy enough with the round. Putter was pretty cool. Couldn’t make anything. Missed 3 putts inside 8 feet for par. Hit a 9 iron 10 yards over the green on one hole, into a swamp. Took a drop, pitched the ball to a foot, tap-in bogey, so that was good. Other than that just hit the ball OK.
Golf’s a bit of a strange game. Heard Nicklaus once say, like it or not, half the game is putting. Usually for 9 holes, par is 36 and half that allocated amount is for 18 putts.
Putt well and one will usually score well.
True. My lower rounds are the ones I roll in a few putts from outside 10 feet. I get off the tee pretty consistently, get the ball on or around the green pretty consistently, chip and pitch the ball pretty decently, and then it comes down to the putter.
How’s the 9 wood working out?
Love it. Hit a couple nice shots with it today. On the par 3 third hole playing 155 today over water, I hit it to about 15 feet. Missed the putt of course. Then on a long par 4 I had 175 left after my tee ball, and hit it again very nicely about 20 yards short of the green. Hit a nice 60 degree wedge to about 10 feet, then missed the putt again.
Golf really!!
Way to bring the threads conversational standards down after my uplifting KC post.
#grin
Apologies… I heard Cousins is grilling today…
Apology excepted, just don’t let it happen again.
I can’t claim great grilling skills either. I loved using my old Weber grill but it was reaching the end and so got left behind during the move.
The Teacher uses the new gas grill so my skills have atrophied.
I’m no grilling expert either. I just do the regular burgers, dogs, and chicken. Can’t really screw that up.
Just have to make sure that the chicken is done all the way through.
Spices is where I really fall behind, I don’t have a sophisticated palette so rubs. marinades, even BBQ sauce I have to use store bought, and I don’t do enough grilling to find the tastiest one for myself and The Teacher.
Yeah, my wife is the expert on marinades and sauces. We have a lot of different sauces, spices, etc. She can make Asian, Texas mild, Texas hot, New Orleans Cajun, etc. Cooking chicken you definitely want to be sure it’s cooked thoroughly.
The Teacher is also the best with spices here.
We got a roasted chicken at Costco and after two day of munching on it I will turn the rest into enchiladas today.
Hard to mess that up as I have my own recipe that The Teacher admits is better than hers.
Just what we need to get started this morning. #evilgrin
https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-minnesota-vikings-all-pff-team-the-best-players-of-the-past-20-years
Laughing… Good morning SoCal
Top Of The Morning to you as well Laddie.
Well, I agree that since 2006, Cousins was the best consistent QB on the roster.
But Viking’s history dates back to 1961. It skips 45 years of history.
Cherry picking data to fit a narrative.
Not really, Cousins has the best production stats of any Vikings QB over a 6 year span in their history. Most yards, most TD’s, highest completion percentage, and highest passer rating. So go back to any QB’s best 6 year stretch you want. He’s was the most productive.
Not sure what their ‘narrative’ is.
PFF looked at all the teams in the NFL over the last 20 years and came up with the best roster for each one.
I believe that they picked 20 years to celebrate their 20 year birthday. Is that the ‘narrative’ you are referring to??
No one said that KC was the best QB that the Vikings ever had.
Coach Flo wins award?
Unfortunately is seems more political than merit based.
‘Brian Flores took action on his beliefs, at risk to his career”.
https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/brian-flores-won-award-nowhere-130200611.html
He got this award for suing the NF?
Sounds/reads like exactly that.
So yesterday we were in Costco and we went past this father/son duo loading up dog food. The Dad looked to be in his 50s, fit, with a beard. He looked at me strangely as the Teacher and I rolled by, I didn’t think too much of it.
The next isle over he stopped and asked me ‘Didn’t you work at CCI??’. CCI was the official designation of the Prison I worked at in SoCal.
I said ‘Yes?’ He replied ‘I thought I recognized you, I retired from there in 2018 and just moved here 2 years ago’. I didn’t recognize him due to the beard but once we got to talking I knew who he was. We spent a few minutes catching up and then wished each other a good day.
Meeting someone I worked with 8 years ago in SoCal now that I live in another state was not on my Bingo card.
Small world… wouldn’t want to mow it though… grin.
Cool story.
Lol
Chicago of Hammond bears
They will just continue to call them the same name for marketing purposes.
Just like the New Jersey Giants/Jets are still called New York Giants/Jets.
There are a bunch of nfl teams that don’t actually play where their namesake is, Buffalo, San Francisco, Dallas, LA, etc. I expect the stupidity that is Illinois will figure things out and keep the bears in the state, or not because between the Chicago mayor and the governor they have about two brain cells.
‘the Chicago mayor and the governor they have about two brain cells’
Given that I expect that the only-est way that they keep them in Illinois is if the City/State Lawyers find a way to force them to stay.
Both New York teams play in Rutherford, New Jersey
At least they aren’t called the Illinois Bears.
What’s next, the Indiana dog?
A hot dog is a hot dog no matter what you put on it.
Unless it is a chilli dog of course, those are messy but worth it.
I’m not driving all the way to Chile just to get a hot dog
My take on JJ, I think it’s too early to give up on him but I also think it would be good for him to have an offseason where he can actually practice and work on fundamentals. That should have happened last year, and it seems like that’s what KOC wanted, but it obviously didn’t materialize. McMidget is going to be the starter this year, it’s his job to lose essentially. Of course JJ needs to actually stay healthy, which he hasn’t done so far.
Yep.
JJ has one more chance. Whenever that happens, I don’t know.
If he misses time to injury AGAIN, it’s over.
Ben talking about family arguments and JRob talking about a D-Day picture up top.
No clue what’s going on today.
‘what’s going on today’
The usual.
Clarification – it was early not much coffee.
Two different things.
The kid crying holding a McCarthy jersey I found appropriate.
The D Day was just a different thought thinking about the importance of the day.
Could have done it in two posts, but felt lazy.
From The Mythical Words Up Top.
‘talk about children of your parents siblings, god only knows why you all continue to beat that dead horse, but you will’
Don’t know what this is referring too but then I am often clueless.
Upon further review ‘Cousins’ maybe????
Not sure either?
Yeah, Ben lost me there too.
What did I miss?
Yes the children of your parents siblings would be your cousins, sorry that’s complicated lol
Clever…
It took me a couple of minutes.
But as with most things I may be slow but I get there eventually.
Yeah I just like to mess with words
So do I, but in a more sophomoric way..
We were making a shopping list and we needed cereal and so I wrote ‘Serial’ on the list.
First The Teacher laughed at my misspelling but I pointed out to her that ‘Serial’ was spelled correctly.
She is used to my antics.
That’s funny, a friend of mine went to Halloween as a serial killer once, he had boxes of cereal attached all over his body with knives sticking out of them.
This one of my staple Halloween costumes. Wheaties box with knives in it.
Also, there was absolutely nothing confusing about your post. Nothing.
My buddy used the little individual boxes that came in the pack, takes me back to when I was little and my parents first separated, my dad always bought those, they conveniently are a self contained unit, you don’t even need a bowl, which I’m pretty sure my dad loved because he didn’t have to wash dishes then
We would get those sometimes in the field mess in the Army.
The bowl/boxes never really stood up well to milk so I was just tear open the top and eat it dry, along with coffee of course.
Was working out of the Prison Kitchen one shift and you had to prepare a dinner and have it delivered to the Gym which was converted into a dorm for lower level inmates.
The inmate that prepared the cart to take the dinner for 30 to the Gym labelled it Jim.
It was hilarious, he insisted that he did it on purpose.
I hope there was a dude named Jim in the gym
Probably was a couple/several of them, but we were not on a first name basis with inmates.
Not usually on a 2nd name basis either, ‘hey inmate’ usually worked well enough.
I take it you worked at a lower security prison? My father in law was a chaplain at a federal pound me in the ass prison for 30 years, he mentioned a few times he developed long term relationships with prisoners serving long sentences. I can’t imagine working at either and feeling safe.
Our prison had 5 yards, from the highest (SHU) to the lowest.
I worked all of them at some point but spent most of the time at the highest.
The Gym inmates were the lowest level and were moved onto the highest level yard to work in the kitchen and other janitorial type jobs.
Some inmates were better than others but you could never get to the point that you could trust them. The few COs that did usually regretted it eventually.
‘Freedom stood on the edge of extinction’ seems like hyperbole a bit but maybe true for Europe.
None those were brave men who deserve all the respect and honor possible.
Picture at top pretty much says it all.
God Bless those guys 82 years ago today who gave so much for all of us
I must have got a different picture.
Haven’t seen much about D-Day today. Kind of odd.
What picture up top?
The one of McCarthy as a kid crying when he got a Vikings jersey for Christmas.
Good morning, SKOL!
FTP!
Mornin Florida!
FTP and SKOL
Saw some reporting yesterday that McCarthy wasn’t stretching with the other three QB’s and then left practice “early” while the other QB’s remained behind. There was a lot of blather about him “isolating” himself from the team and whatnot.
Turns out he had a golf outing scheduled with some of the other teammates, and practice actually ran long. So he didn’t leave early, didn’t “abandon” his fellow QB’s etc. Pundits doing their thing, reading the tea leaves, and stirring up drama.
Spin and Context seem to be important sometimes.
