It’s finally Friday!
At last, our beloved Friday has arrived. The odds are slim that I will work until the end of the day today. It’s supposed to be beautiful outside, and kiddo and I have a weekend of camping planned, so my guess is that we will get started on that early today. We’re camping up at Cross Ranch State Park, a really nice park on the Missouri River, and it’s going to be a blast. The fishing has slowed, as it normally does during the summer, but hopefully we can manage to find a few. I heard they’re biting on the big water further west, but I also heard that you should plan for an hour or two wait in order to launch your boat, and plan to wait another hour to load it back up. I’m not patient enough for that s***.

Well Cousins is very good the vast majority of his games over his career. So I look at the majority over the few bad games he has. And as I have mentioned, he has great games behind one of the worst pass blocking lines in the league every single year. If he ever has a really good line, he might break a few NFL records.

We were driving along and came to a sign that said, “Weigh Station”. However they had the road closed and everyone had to go through the “Weigh Station”. Interestingly enough, it was all manned by Border Patrol. The guy in front of us was hauling a rv trailer and they had a dog sniff around the trailer. We pulled up with our Ford Escape, with Wisc plates. Since we are pasty white old people, they guy just ask if we are US citizens. I said yes and he said have a nice day and off we went. Apparently we did not look like a threat.

It’s a team game. The QB is part of the team. The quality of the QB’s play affects the part of the team he is responsible for. If the quality of the QB play is bad, then the offense will not produce sufficiently. Without offensive production the team cannot win. Much like without defensive production and special teams production the team cannot win. This is as simple as it gets, yet you don’t understand? That is VERY hard for me to fathom.
When one player has the cap use of what 5-6 average players have, he becomes responsible for not having the additional 4-5 average players. So he needs his production to be that much better to offset the loss.
The nfl is all about value and the cap.
Wow… that may be the biggest stretch of reality I’ve ever heard. QB’s get paid the most money because if you don’t have a good one you have no chance to win. Not to make plays for 4-5 other guys. Cousins did his job, but unfortunately the defense, O-line, and special teams sucked last year and the year before that. That’s like 26 different players not 4-5.
It’s a team game and not a stretch at all. Having a good qb who costs 40+ mill should elevate a team above having a 20 mill qb and 3 extra good players. The rookie contract window is so good because it allows a team to have a decent qb and the extra good players.
Like I said, it’s all about value in todays nfl. Teams with mediocre qbs have won before and may likely again.

How old was he?
he was 64.
he was diagnosed with cancer 7 years ago, he beat it, then was diagnosed with another form of cancer 3 years later, and he beat that, and then was diagnosed with lung cancer 1.5 years ago, and he couldn’t beat that.
leaves behind a wonderful wife and 8 children (grown, youngest is 21) and a ton of grandkids…
but the worst days, right before passing, went very quickly, which we are all very thankful for
Yup, a woman I know lost her mom when she passed suddenly while using the bathroom at 64. She has that typical survivor guilt because she did not get along well with her mother, and I’ve tried to tell her she should be thankful she went so quickly.
My mother is definitely in the dwindles and I would prefer she die today but for all the control I have in the situation she might circle the bowl another ten years.
Same with my mother.
Unless she gets cancer or something, she could go another 10 years and reach 100, but she can barely walk to her front door and just watches TV and reads most every day while her ability to do even that is diminishing rapidly.
Still has a temper and is as mean as ever, though. Never lost that.
The dragging on is the worst. My mom had a stroke and then was miserable for 3 more years. She had to be in a home and couldn’t read (she loved to read) and couldn’t take care of herself. We all would have preferred she was gone when the stroke happened.

The four seasons since Cousins left they are a collective 24-41. With Cousins, the Redskins went 9-7 in his first year and won the NFC East. The next year they went 8-8-1, and his last they went 7-9. So with Cousins the team was .500 and without him they were .320. So it’s not that Cousins can’t carry an average team, it’s really that no QB can carry a really bad team, just make them competitive. Remember Drew Brees went 7-9 three consecutive seasons with the Saints while setting NFL passing records. In regards to the Vikings, no way a QB by himself is going to carry a team with almost the worst O-line in the league four years running, and also the worst defense in the league, and kickers who routinely miss extra points and field goals. That’s not an average team. That’s a bad team. Especially when the head coach restricts the offense the way Zim did with his “prevent offense”.

This means there will be more zero read pass plays. That’s what Kyle Shanahan did with RGIII as rookie. He had zero read throws as the majority of the pass plays, and then a step down from that were a number of one read throws that Griffin made a read and then took off running if it wasn’t there. To me, this offensive scheme helps Cousins get the ball out of his hands quicker and suffer far fewer hits. This isn’t a reflection on Cousins abilities or need to simplify the offense for him as much as it is protecting him from a bad O-line. Also the actual play calling has change dramatically. O’Connel use plays with a one word or two word description vice say Jon Gruden’s extensive verbiage to make a simple run play. This will allow Cousins to run a no huddle much better.

Cool… The key to zero read throws are the receivers. Cousins will be throwing to spots on the field (holes) and if the receiver doesn’t get there the ball will be intercepted or fall to the grass incomplete. I ran a similar offense in college. I threw a lot of incompletions.
