Happy Monday, everyone!
I hope all of you had a great weekend, I know we sure did. Kiddo and I camped up at Cross Ranch State Park, and it was a blast. We didn’t have much luck fishing, which isn’t uncommon this time of year, especially off shore, but we did a lot of biking, ate some unhealthy food, smoked a cigar or two (I did, kiddo didn’t), and had a lot of fun playing by the water & all that sort of stuff. Yesterday, after we left the campsite, we headed up to the Wal-Mart of outdoor events, the State Fair. We did have a good time. The rides were fun, and I won a gigantic Minecraft dog. Kiddo saw it and REALLY wanted it, and I played some stupid game a billion times until I finally won the damn thing. It made me a hero in my son’s eyes, so it was worth it.
Not a whole lot of news on the football front, as is common this time of year, but hey, training camp is just firing up, so we’ll FINALLY have some actual football news to discuss. For now, y’all can discuss any and everything, and remember, be cool to one another.

It is impossible to put up the numbers Cousins does year in and year out in the NFL without being a really good QB. Facing 31 teams of the best defensive players and coaches in the world… you ain’t gonna fake it too long in the NFL. You either have the goods to make plays with your arm or you don’t, especially when your O-line is amongst the absolute worst in the league. I mean seriously, Cousins has played his last four seasons in an offense dedicated to Dalvin Cook, yet when you look at his production in the four years, he’s one of the best in the league. This shouldn’t be the case. Bad O-line, run first “prevent offense” and yet he’s still throwing for over 4200 yards and 33 TD’s in 16 games.

That’s opinion… and everyone has one. If you take an opinion piece and live by what others think… good for you. I look at data and I actually watch Cousins play analytically. He is not perfect by any stretch but nor is Tom Brady. In fact when I watch Brady and analyze his play, I would say he’s an above average QB but not jaw dropping. He benefits from great line play and excellent offensive play design. He lived on a 3 step drop and the ball out in New England for 20 years, throwing 3 to 5 yard passes.

He threw bombs to Moss, he threw slants to a number of receivers, threw to slot receivers as his mains, threw verticals to speedsters, and has thrown over and over to his Gronks and TE’s.
Really he did use the talent around him differently… or should I say his OC did. Brady only had three OC’s in his 20 years with the Patriots. One reason he completely mastered the offense, and the team could insert new plays on the fly.

But the improved stats will be the result of the head coach’s mentality more so than better play from Cousins.
I hope beaker gets some stats so their is something to talk about in the offseason besides losing smith, thelen, cook, beaker, irv, and kendricks.
We could lose Cousins after this season if he does what he’s capable of and the OC (HC) actually delivers on scheme, game planning, and play calling. Cousins is easily capable of putting up 5K yards and 45 TD’s with this level of talent at the skill positions and decent O-line play.

How many one score games were we in last year? All of the losses except for the second Packers game when Cousins was out, were one score games. All of them. And this with almost the worst defense in the league. A change of defenses that gets them to middle of the pack, and this team might just could get to the super bowl.

The offense is the exact same as last year except you lost your starting TE. That team lost to the boys at home with a back-up qb, lost to lions, lost to browns. When you look at the teams we play most have very good DL’s and solid D (GB, Colts, Skins, Boys, Buff, NE, Miami, NO). They will get pressure.
Replaced that TE with a better TE and the defense lost the games not the offense (except the Browns).
You can scheme against pressure. Brady was successful for 20 years throwing three step and even one step zero read and one read throws. Of course everyone will then say Cousins is a dink and dunk passer, but it is the formula for beating pressure.

I think the defense has had a big infusion of talent.
Not sure about that at least for this year’s performance. I think Cine and Booth could be decent players but rookies in the secondary struggle as it’s a huge difference vs college. The DL is the worst in the NFL. LB’s could be the strength as Smith, Hunter, Kendricks and Hicks could be ok. I doubt they all stay healhy as 2 haven’t played since 2020 FTMP. Other CB’s suck donkey balls and they will all play as you will get some games lost to injury. P2 is old now, very high risk of injury and he’s just ok.
Pat Pete is better than people give him credit for. Cine and Booth will be upgrades. Hicks is a huge upgrade. Phillips and Tomlinson will be stout up front and better against the run. Smith and Hunter on the outside will cause big issues. We really missed Hunter last year.
As you said, injuries are a big factor. But if healthy, it’s a much better unit than last year talent-wise, and the defense was the major issue holding the team back last year.

To have two stud DE in Hunter and Smith, Tomlinson is a solid yet unspectacular 3tech, they added Harrison Phillips who Bill’s fans absolutely love, ran in to a longtimer Bill’s fan last week who told me we got a great underrated player in Phillips, Wonnum had 8 sacks last year himself and we’re running a 3-4 this year also. I think well be pleasantly impressed is we stay healthy.

Honestly, the team cap situation has to be worked out. Little by little over the next three years the Vikings will have to get out from under the cap pressure. Some will come with the normal cap increases expected over the next three years but of course a lot will have to include letting players with big contracts go. For this year, if the O-line improves the offense could be very, very good. The change in scheme and addition of Z Smith on the defense could get the D to a place where we don’t lose games in the last two minutes after the offense has taken the lead. Would I predict a 12-5 record this year? No. Do I think it could happen? Yes.

Nice gentle rain in Billings last night, I hear.
Yeah. Looked like about a foot of water on the road by the Metra, All 3 refineries are down, quarter sized hail on the northern west end. Wasn’t too bad at my place. We had some hail but nothing too bad.
So so glad the house sold. We lived in Forest Park, like 26th and Grand. That area seemed a magnet for roof eating hail.
For sure. We usually get lucky and miss the big hail (we’re by 24th and Broadwater). I’ll typically get a notification about a storm, get everything ready and then watch the storm go north of us. One of the guys I work with lives around Grand and 56th and they got hit pretty hard. There was still hail on the ground when I got to work in Lockwood this morning.

While you loafers were out golfing I was busy giving birth to 107 beautiful little round bales with my 4440 and a Case baler…then sprayed weeds with 50 gallons of a homemade mix of glyphosate, 2-4,D and detergent on a little sprayer pulled behind my open cab 1025R. While I was disconnecting the sprayer I noticed some reddish liquid oozing from my (ballasted) tractor rear tire near the valve stem. I did the stupid thing and pushed on the stem to see where the juice was leaking and the valve stem shot out followed by a stream of orange juice. I quickly stuck my finger over the leak and then hollered for my wife who fortunately was outside. She slowly drove the tractor forward until the valve stem got to the 12 o’clock position and I could take my finger off, releasing the air from the tire. Put the broken valve stem back in, and took off the tire. Manhandled the tire into the back of my pickup just like the good ol’ days hauling kegs at the Wainwright hotel and dropped it at the tire place this morning. I guess it’s not beet juice they put in there, some other stuff they called bioguard or some such. Between the herbicide coating my skin and the bioguard shit spraying on my face and into my mouth I’ll probably grow a third arm soon.

I think you’re pretty safe if you don’t bathe in concentrate. Glyphosate has an extremely low vapor pressure and is absorbed poorly if at all through the skin. Certainly not a one to one causality.
I get that golf is more fun. But hay needs to be hayed and weeds need to be weeded, fence needs to be fenced, etc…This is also a busy time of year for imaging so my spare time is somewhat limited. Oh well one of these days.

I’ve personally never checked into this since I have a ticket with DIRECTV. I could see having it at home with a smart TV and if you get all the games like the ticket then you could have multiple TVs going and watch on your iPad as well. I typically have my 70 inch TV showing the Vikings, a smaller 30 inch showing the pack, and then my iPad showing any other good matchups.
The thing is, it is for your local team. You don’t get every team. Only your local team. If all I get is my local team, why would I pay to watch a game that is already on my local tv station? I get the streaming on mobile if you work and can watch it on your phone.
Like you said, I suppose if you wanted to watch the “other game” on your tv while you watch your team on mobile.

If your local market broadcast the game over the air I would use an air antenna, that’s what I do. For any games that you cant get via that, I use free streaming websites. They are delayed a bit and some times have hiccups, but most of the time they work and look great and its free.

My dad told me back in the day one guy had a problem with his neighbor’s dog barking. The guy complained. The neighbor did nothing, so one morning, when the dog started barking, the guy stuck his shotgun out the window and boom. No more barking.
