Yesterday I received a personal message from the Chief Informatics Officer. They will soon be requiring audited documentation of the status of all of a patient’s organs in the medical record, with a complete surgical history. Yippee says I, what prompted this corporate decision I’ve been complaining about for over 12 years?

It’s…ok. I’m not a huge fan of the deep south but I’d rather be here than most places in the South. Hotter than hell and just as humid. My entire career has been spent south of the Mason Dixon line or in unfriendly sandy places of the earth. Made me weak. Dad laughs when I go home for Christmas and shiver. That said, Arkansas is actually quite beautiful. It’s called the Natural State for good reason. Not densely populated at all. Lots of “mountains”, forests, some good lakes. Lots of duck hunting, turkey, deer (though Arkansas deer resemble dogs more than the corn-fed midwest monster deer I grew up stalking). If it was only several hundred miles north of here I’d probably never leave. But the drivers are literally the worst in the country. I’m not kidding.

Drivers are aggressive and mean. Everyone I’ve talked to since my sister got plowed into either has themselves or knows someone who’s been plowed into while just sitting at a red light.
I can see a busy street from my patio, have seen hundreds of accidents of people trying to beat the light or flying through a red light. Crazy out there.

With all their issues throughout the season, if the D had only managed to get a stop on HALF of the end of half/game possessions where they failed, they would’ve been in the playoffs. Right but you cant copy and paste the events of a previous season onto the upcoming season and expect things to just go the opposite way. That’s what children do. Will the defense be that bad again? No, more than likely not. Will the offense but just as good? Maybe? Will it be better? Maybe? You cant assume. Also, I think our schedule will turn out to be one of the harder ones in the league when its said and done, harder than last seasons turned out to be. Too many factors to be like, oh, well we will just fix our 2 min defense and win 13 games, boom, done. No. Not how that works.

Restocked on a few cigars over lunch break. A new small shop opened up on main st Mandan that was recommended to me. Could not have been happier. Gal who worked there was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about everything. I got one of each of Deadwoods new cigars in the Chasing the Dragon line and a tin of 10 Small Sweet Jane’s which I will partake in this weekend. So 3 full sized cigars and the tin of 10s for $50. I will be back to that store for sure.

Funny story – waaaaaaay back in 1987 I was going through Russian language training in California in the USAF. I had met a cute girl in basic training, she went to Lowry AFB in Colorado. I saved enough cash to fly up and visit her one weekend.
At the end of the weekend she dropped me off at the airport. Killing time until my flight, I bought a Hallmark card for her, sat down and wrote some sappy shit about the weekend.
All of a sudden the words “Marry me, David” appeared at the end of my paragraph. I looked at it, wondered “Do I REALLY mean that?” Young, dumb……”YEP”
I look across the terminal and there sat Waylon Jennings. I walked over, mentioned “how much I like his music, can I have an autograph, blah blah.”
“Sure, whatcha got to sign?” Only thing I had was the Hallmark card, so I hand it over. He opened it up and I heard him chuckle. He signed it, handed it back. I thanked him and headed for the ramp since they were calling my flight.
Once I got seated I opened up the card. Under my signature he wrote “Marry him, Waylon Jennings.”
I sent her the card. I never saw her or the card again.

lol, that’s funny and David is a weird name for a girl. Funny that you mentioned Lowry b/c I had dinner at Lowry last night at the “officer’s club” restaurant. They have retail there now and a beer garden, etc. My chiropractor has space there too who I dated a long time ago.

I’ve heard of people getting nicked for not having the original bag for dog food they take into Canada and back while RV’ing. One of my best friends fronted the money for the whole reunion, and then when he got paid back exactly what he loaned, the class harlot accused him of stealing and convinced all her worthless suburban housewife friends that he was evil so he never went to another one again.
I also was the class of 86. Never have gotten or seen any invitations for reunions. Not on fuckface or in contact with any of them. Most that I hung with are either dead or in prison.
I just went to my 30th class reunion a few weeks ago.

Like DE, I have never been to a reunion but wouldn’t have minded going…my ten year was the same time I got married (plus Wainwright was 12 hours away) so no go…twenty year I was thick into residency, poor AF, and 24 hours away…but the thirty year I actually got contacted through FB and made plans to go, but they cancelled at the last minute for uncertain reasons (probably “cancelled” when they heard I was coming to ruin the party).
I didn’t mind HS although college was much more fun. However, I was a big NERD.
I was crazy in high school, had an absolute blast (what I remember of it, anyway).
I was as straight laced as they come.
I believe it. I suppose I should have been a little less crazy and a little more straight-laced, but then I wouldn’t have the memories I have (or lack thereof).
Even that first year of college, although I stayed up late shooting the shit and what not, didn’t drink that much as I was terrified of getting a MIP (17 that year). Summer between first and second year of college I turned 18, finally started to put on some weight (sigh remember those days when you were 30 pounds underweight), lifting the bar at the little gym next to the pool at the communiplex every day, then swimming two miles, working two jobs including fairly physical labor at John Deere on the weekends and walking 10+ miles a day for the natural gas company. Best shape of my life. End of that summer one of the smoking hot gals in my high school (year behind me) that worked at the pool asked if I wanted to go to a party with her and I knew I had entered the world of the upside down. Even then I treated her with utmost respect despite her obvious signals as her dad owned the dealership I worked for (cue five “I would have banged that like a screen door”).
As I’ve said, no guarantees my life would have made the twists and turns that led me to where I am if I didn’t do the things I did or did not but still looking back I think man if I had it to do all over again…
