With 5’s revelation today i’m going 13-4 if we stay healthy. If Kodiak comes over 17-0.
No worries on that. I’m still thinking Dabares, Jets and Giants could be wins, so 3-14 and with the right bounces 6 games won.
I’m on record for around .500. If we stay healthy, Kirk notably, maybe push 10 wins. I don’t think health has been good to us lately. Injuries it could be 3 wins.
We were below average on injuries last season, on offense we had near zero other than Irv who has done nothing to date and Christ the rook early. Expect 6 guys lost, 3 on D and 3 on O, which is about average. Only way we get 10 wins is lots of injuries to other teams when we play them. Likely favored in 3 games max if we go into the bye 0-6.
I’m vacillating between 13-4 and 14-3.

Does that make sense though? I was under the impression there is no PS designation until they do final cuts to 53. That’s a long time to expect Hand to remain available it that was their plan, especially when another team can easily add him by dropping another scrub and cut him next week if he doesn’t work out.

I get the waivers part. I guess my question is about the timing. If the Vikings were hoping to get him onto their PS (which is what the Tweet author suggests), why not wait and cut him next week because I don’t believe any team can place players onto the PS this week. Unless I’m wrong, they PS doesn’t exist until after final cut down day, at which point once players clear waivers a team can re-sign to their PS (unless another team adds them to their 53-man roster).

Yeah…that’s my understanding too: “in a week”. So, I guess my point is, by releasing him this week the Vikings exposed him to any team that wanted to add him to their 80 man roster. Which is a much easier decision for another team to make since they can just cut their worst guy.
If the Vikings wanted to re-sign him, why not cut him next week. There’s less chance another team will sign him because at that point they’d need to add him to their 53-man roster.

You cannot announce in the comments that you’ll overturn moderation decisions by centralized mods, you have already been told to not overturn moderation decisions by centralized mods, and you cannot encourage commenters to try to find ways around the moderation filters. If this approach doesn’t change immediately, I’m unfortunately going to be forced to terminate your contract.
I’ve been fighting to keep you under contract for months now because you’re a huge part of the community and I love your passion for the community and the Vikings. But at this point, I’ve run out of ways to convince the powers that be to allow me to keep you under contract unless you’re willing to operate within our community guidelines.

I got called on the carpet once for looking up a lab test on my wife in her medical record/chart. I made the mistake of answering the initial query in an off hand way, saying that my wife was standing beside me when I looked up the result. The response that came back was over the top similar to what is seen here, and it was a guy with an official title such as director of compliance. The whole thing was a non issue from start to finish as her primary doc had ordered the test on my advice, my wife had signed consent for me to view her chart, etc…but I learned that some guys want to project power over you as they perceive you as disproportionately higher in the hierarchy of a hospital. Never mind the years of sacrifice that it took to get where I am and how stupid would I have to be to jeopardize that over a test looking for evidence of antibodies to statins.

Oh, my hometown (Wainwright – defined as where I went to HS) newspaper published an editorial. Editor said that they should abolish food banks on the premise of “give a man a fish…” and that instead people should agree to be taxed a little more (on the premise of nobody is taxed to death and the government can spend more responsibly) to allow the development of affordable housing, weekly allowances, all in the name of shopping for and preparing your own nutritious meals. A real kumbaya moment where we’re all in the same boat. Of course, the rich can afford to pay much more tax than the common man, I mean that’s just a given.
Many people protested this train of thought in subsequent letters to the editor from the realm of many people are depending on food banks that traditionally did not as commodity prices, carbon tax, etc chip away at the minimal sustainable wage for a family of 4.
Several letters, however, supported the notion of a living wage for all. From each according to his ability, to each acccording to his need. Even had people saying I would want at least $5000 a month because that’s what I need for the basic necessities like food, clothes, cell phones, car payment, etc…I just shake my head. Hey Mr. CPA, will my tax return be done by April 15th? Well gee I just got my living wage check and the other guys in the office haven’t done a return in weeks so that’ll be a big no…you can take your business elsewhere I don’t care as I still get paid.

Thanks for reaching out. I looked through the banned ranks and saw no one banned in the last two days on Daily Norseman, so I assume you’re talking about the non-banning actions I took yesterday, which I’d be happy to walk you all through.
The user Freezeface used the word “pansy” in a comment on Monday’s thread, which was flagged in the system and I rejected the comment. A little later, they asked why the comment had been rejected, and so I sent a warning to explain the decision. That word is a homophobic slur — while I can’t say for certain in their heart if they meant it in a homophobic way, in the context it was used it is not appropriate and I explained it.
From there, Freezeface had a tantrum, basically, and tried to rile up the rest of the thread. Had they de-escalated, I would have moved on, but they continued to get upset, so I put them on a 24-hour suspension and in that message, told them they should take a timeout. Meanwhile, I put another commenter, peterplaysbass, on pre-mod because they started trying to use “pansy” in a variety of ways to antagonize the moderator (me). I put a note in the commenter’s account regarding this action. If they had moved on, I was planning to remove the pre-mod tag in short order.
I was pretty unhappy when these actions were overturned less than an hour later. To me, it completely undermines the message of the action taken, which was not done lightly and was in my view justified. As moderators, I think we can all agree that there are edge cases, comments and commenters where you’re not sure what to do, and situations in which one moderator may have a difference of opinion than another, and it’s fair enough. But the use of the word “pansy” in any situation other than ones in which you are earnestly talking about flowers or gardening (believe it or not, a few commenters on the network have used it in this benign way) is not one of those edge cases, and so telling the commenters, “You did nothing wrong here, keep using that term” is very counterproductive.
Again, I banned nobody, and I stand behind the actions I took. In the future, I’m happy to send a quick email to you above and beyond the notes left in the commenters’ accounts regarding similar actions, but I hope you understand where I’m coming from and why I took the steps I did. I hope in the future, if something like this happens again, those of you on the site moderating can support those actions, because I truly do not think I did anything wrong here. With respect, I truly do not think I did anything wrong in this situation. Had Freezeface taken the warning originally and moved on with their day, then nothing more would have been done. Instead, they freaked out because they were told the term is homophobic and they should not use it. I understand there’s a potential gray area where they did not mean to be homophobic, but imagine if you were told “X is not appropriate, please do not use that term” and you turn around and go “X! X! X! X!” That’s basically what happened here, and it’s not an appropriate response. Put another way, if you did the same thing, you would be upset if the commenter turned on you, because that is not a constructive way to behave in the comments.
You have every right to be proud of the community built at DN and you all are doing a fine job in fostering a tight-knit group of commenters. As I said, in the future I am happy to send an explanation of what’s going down if there’s a flashpoint. I believe it is more constructive to take a meaningful action like a short suspension to avoid an issue getting out of hand if commenters are upset they can’t use inappropriate language, but if you would prefer I can merely reject comments when they violate community standards and you can deal with the fallout if this happens again. As I’ve always maintained, working together is the ultimate goal here.
All I can say is this is the job I was given. I hope you won’t take it out on me that my full time job is this. I was told to do this, which is moderate on all sites that are on Coral. I was appointed to this role.

I don’t get the obsession by some, on both sides, with the DN – Skolho comparisons. I’m assuming most folks here were introduced to each other on the DN. It became the “go to” community for many Vikings fans over the years. Obviously, it’s not what it once was, primarily due to Coral which, I’m assuming (since it was implemented at an SBNation level) wasn’t the fault of the DN “powers that be” that have worked hard to build/support that community over the years.
It appears going forward, some feel more comfortable here, some there and some bounce back-and-forth. I could care less what choice others make in this regard. Not sure why it’s so important what choice people make.
I’m just focused on making this place better. Need that damn z key badly. Hopefully they can come up with a solution.

Most of it is from the bad breakups some of us had with the DN and overall how VOX made changes in both site functionality and what was permissible opinion sharing. Thanks for all the best wishes and positive thoughts, everyone. My wife had her D&C yesterday, basically we have to wait (about a week) for the pathologist to rule on the findings. It has been a while (man where does 20 years go) since I’ve observed a D&C but man this one was fast. I bet I was in the waiting room less than 20 minutes before the gynecologist came out to talk to me, and another two minutes got to see her in recovery. A little woozy and weak for the rest of the morning and afternoon but she was a trooper.
The CRNA was awesome. My wife had situational anxiety and developed her verbal diarrhea that always follows in that circumstance. Any chest pain or tightness “not that I’m aware of” well gee I bet you’d be aware of it. So this is the plan, we are going to do general anesthesia with propofol a nice little nap with a flexible airway…”miscellaneous interruption” yeah stop talking and take a listen to what I have to say, I watched a video once about how to do this and while there were a lot of big words and I slept through part of it I did learn some stuff “…” at end of consent speech “I like you, like not like like you, but that was great, my husband does that same thing to me when I won’t shut up”
The funniest part was I asked the CRNA how long he has lived in GDV and where he moved from (I had read his wife’s bio in the local paper as she is a new teacher at the HS) and he said oh we actually moved here from a foreign country, lived there for seven years, very different place really…OREGON.
