Wow, what a game. I really wish the Vikings would learn how to put a team away, but a win is a win. I have to remind myself that when you’re playing an NFL team, they’re going to continue to try to come back. Was it all great? Hell no. Was it all bad, obviously no. Lots of grey, but enough good to finish the game with a win. I’ll take it.
The Bright Side
Every team will lose leads. Winners find a way to continue to fight and win those close games, and that’s what this team is doing this year. It’s a breath of fresh air after years of the Vikings finding ways to lose these types of games.
The offense looked unstoppable in the first half, and they were. They also marched down the field in a methodical, 7 minute drive, to get the go-ahead score that would eventually win the game. Cook was dominating in the run game, and the O-line was rock solid. All-in-all, there was a lot of positives in this game, and the Vikings had stretches of brilliance, especially Kirk Cousins, and this was against the Bears defense, which is not a weak defense.
Concerns
In the first half, the offense was rolling and so was the defense. At the end of the half, the defense seemed to falter on the Bears’ TD drive, and man, they looked bad until late in the 4th quarter. They got very little pressure on Fields, the coverage on the WRs was far too loose (although this appears to be by design, frustratingly), and they couldn’t seem to stop the Bears offense, which is NOT a good offense. The defense is going to have to improve if this team wants to be a serious competitor in the post-season.
The offense, after looking elite in the first half, took the 2nd half off until their last drive. The running game was working, but they could not sustain a drive. Cousins made one horrile decision that resulted in an interception, and there were many other mistakes like drops and penalties (many of them from our tight ends). The Vikings offense will need to be more consistent going forward, and eliminate those stretches of bad play.
Special Teams:
A bad day for the special teams, pretty much all-around. Joseph pushed another field goal to the right, and then his second field goal was blocked. Wright only punted one time (that’s actually a sign that the offense was working pretty dang well yesterday), and he shanked that one and it only went 15 yards. The return game was average, and the coverage units did their job. Overall, they’d get a D-minus at best, most likely an F. Skolly will likely elaborate more on this on his report card.
Summary
In the end, a win is a win. The Vikings are 4-1 and are sitting all alone at the top of the NFC North. SKOL!!!!!!!!

The overnighter with the grands was awesome, they were so good and I spoiled them a little more than usual. Their mom didn’t pick them up Sunday until a little after the early games started. I was a little tired anyway, and the first thing I saw was that Teddy got hurt on the first play. Got so discouraged, turned off football for several hours. Then watched some game recaps and the night game.
Vikings won, Lamar won, Rodgers lost and Matt Rhule finally got fired. Not a bad recovery of the weekend. I’ll be watching tonight’s game.
Next week should be an interesting game depending on who is their qb.
Miami has a lot of injuries, including OL (yikes) and secondary.

I hope Teddy gets to play also. At first Sunday, I was freaked out that Teddy maybe had another concussion, but only one spotter said he saw Teddy stumble and there is nothing on film showing a stumble, and everyone said he had no symptoms.
I do think concussions are still a serious matter and they need to do whatever they can to make that better. This new rule seems to be a bit arbitrary though.

I bought a Toto super toilet, one of their best, over three years ago. It still sits in its box, unused, waiting for my fucking shirttail relative to build the addition to our shouse.

Soooo many people I know have gotten them and absolutely rave about them and would never go back to general TP / wet wipes method. I was just researching them and they’re a simple install. I think I might go with the complete seat model with heated water / seat / air dryer and popcorn machine with melted butter.
The Toto model I have is the complete package. I could tell you more if I was at home. It’s not just the seat, the whole toilet is Toto it doesn’t look like what we think toilets should look like. Kinda like an egg that opens the lid as you approach. Cleans its own bowl, remote with kanji, etc…I need the power to be in the right place or I’d be using it already. I’m excited to use it hopefully by 2024.

Sounds like a nice unit. I was thinking the same thing about the complete seat units you have to have an outlet or power source close by which I don’t in my bathrooms. They have the cold only that run on the pressure of the water but sounds like the warm water and blow dry is a nice option.

Oh yeah….one model has a deodorizer. They have remotes you hold in your hand for different settings and you can do pre sets per person so when you sit with one touch it runs through an entire cleaning cycle with your specific settings. the pressure of the bidets is pretty strong and can be adjusted. When you wipe you just smear shit all over always leaving residual unless you use a wet one afterwards. Pressurized water is way more effected clean and rinsing away the feces which are protein based and water soluble.

With the lack of really strong teams in the conference (well, in the NFL), being 3-0 in the division is VERY important. I’m guessing there will be a ton of teams in the middle (10-7 or 11-6), so that division record could be a major factor.

Means zero. Your contract knowledge is horrible. You go by cap hit, the rest is accounting tricks on when the money is paid vs. when it counts against the cap. It comes down to how much of the cap you occupy. This is clearly over your head, though.
17% of the cap this year, teams can compete with that. Look at the SB winners in the last 20 years & the % of the cap that their QB occupies. You’ll see a trend.
