They could not find anything wrong with my tire, so they changed the core. Hopefully, that does it. A tire that keeps going flat is annoying.
Guys that worked on it were aces, though. Reasonable price, too: $25.

Normally, a leak you can’t find is either the valve stem or they didn’t apply enough of the goop stuff on the rim/tire when they seated the tire.
Maybe my wife is trying to kill me by letting air out of my tires. She is not mechanically-inclined, so that is maybe the best she can do…

Yep, they took the tire all apart and looked for corrosion on the rim and stuff, too. Couldn’t find much of that either. Yet, it was totally flat this morning, and I aired it up again last night around 5 p.m., so it all went out in 12 hours.
Holy cow, that’s fast. I’ve had them where they leak out over a week or so. It leaks that fast & they still can’t find it? Wow, that’s odd.
Did you say they replaced the stem? That would make sense, I don’t see anything else leaking that fast.
I’ve had bad stems, bad rims, bad cracks, bad holes… seems most likely to be the stem, but could also be a crack in the wheel.

I guess I didn’t hear them mention the stem, now that I think about it. I wasn’t back there with them the whole time. The also ran the tire through their dunk tank, so hopefully they thought of everything.

Come to think of it, this tire may have been trouble before. I had the core replaced in another tire, and I bet it was the same one. It has just been rotated a couple of times since then.
It’s a Tiger Paw tire. Been decent otherwise, but LOUD…
Core is part of the stem system, so yes, they replaced the stem.
I vaguely remember some shady guys unscrewing the core and replacing it back in the day without replacing the whole thing
They replaced the valve core inside the stem, so I think they’d have to be aware of stem issues, as well. I’m not sure of the anatomy of the core/stem. I have never removed one myself. I’m not sure if the stem merely covers the core or if there is more to the relationship. It’s a good question.
Just as likely the stem cracked at the base as the stem core is leaking or went bananas.
Have to stay tuned until tomorrow! I will see how it looks in the morning…

Just to stir the pot a little. I have a hybrid Ford Escape. We went down to Dubuque to visit my son and his wife this weekend. On the way home (an almost 4 hour drive) we had a real nice tailwind and got 51 mpg. That was nice.
I walked down to the mailbox and only released a small amount of pollution.

I am thinking of going hybrid for my next vehicle. I drive a subaru forrester now, love it. I get 30 mpg, but getting 45 or more is eve better. Any downsides to a hybrid?
Battery replacement
The mileage for us is great in the summer (averaging around 42 mpg), however in the cold weather it plummets. I’m in Wisc and the mpg starts going down in late October and eventually ends up in the lower 30 mpg during the dead of winter. So that’s the downside. Otherwise we love our all wheel drive Escape.
Drove a Volkswagen from LOTW to MSP in 2016. It was 42 below at LOTW and we got 52 mpg. It was awesome.
