Morning Skoloholics.
SO Raiders are going to move on from Carr and try to trade him. What do you think he is worth in the trade market. Looking at some of the past QB trades:
Cleveland sent 3 1st rounders, a 3rd and a 4th for Watson (How is that working out so far boys?)
Colts trades a 2nd & 3rd to Washington for Wentz (this trade had a lot of other stuff tossed in, but it was basically a 2 & 3 for the most part)
Eagles trades Wentz to the Colts in exchange for a 1st & 3rd
Colts sent a 3rd round pick to ATL for Matt Ryan
Broncos gave up basically 2 first round, and 2 second round picks for WIlson (and a lot of other stuff tossed in
My gut feel is a 1st and 3rd is reasonable. But you see a lot of overpaying going on out there for QBs
Looking at over the cap the Raiders can save 29M in dead money with a pre 1 June trade.
The Raiders have as much they’ll trade him, probably a 2nd and 3rd
3 years left on his deal, cap hits are around $35 mil, $44 mil, and $43 mil through 2025. Pretty steep cap hits in future years, not sure what you do with that. Raiders may end up cutting him if nobody wants to trade, but I think someone will want him.
It’s more expensive if the Raiders cut him, they’ll have to trade him.
New team can always sign Carr to an extension with some void years, we don’t know what the salary cap is going to be next season (or following seasons) that will determine if his salary is significant for a QB1.
And remember didn’t the Browns trade Ostweiler to the Texans (maybe), and the Browns gave up draft picks as well, since Ostweiler had some big cap hits
They did that to dump his salary, nothing more
That was a fun read.

Dave does excellent work, I really enjoyed his cartoons… but not enough to go back on Twitter
Good morning!
Good morning Rob!
