So this person is clearly an emotional commenter vs an analytical one. Uses terms like “crusader” and “overly critical”. This person is just a whiney bitch and no one should pay any attention to them.
My take on Cousins is he is a competent NFL QB. His career production and performances more than validate that. However, we all know two things. One, nobody’s perfect, and two, it’s a team game. Today the Vikings SHOULD beat the Giants at home. I also expect Cousins to play well. We shall see.
I don’t know if you have access to the Star Tribune, they give people a few free articles. They have a an interesting article about Kirk below.
Read the article. It does a good job covering some territory most fans are unaware of. It also highlights something I’ve said all along. KOC didn’t build an offense around Cousins talents. He established a scheme that takes every ounce of Cousins mental capacity to run, and the fact he can run it so well is a minor miracle.
To me, stressing your QB to his limits like that right out the gate, instead of establishing a simpler scheme and building on it, is flawed and rife for opportunities to fail. Indeed… the offense does fail too often in my opinion.
What??? Stafford ran the same system to a SB title last year what are you talking about?? So if you think a simplistic system will beat today’s defenses then I’ve given you way to much credit thinking you know what you’re talking about.
No… Stafford came in and Sean McVay ran the offense to take advantage Stafford’s talents. McVay also hung on the headset with Stafford as long as possible advising him where to go with ball. KOC’s extended language and multiple play calls in to Cousins, leaves it all on Cousins to run things. BIG difference in how McVay runs his offense and how KOC runs his.
Lol…KOC was the OC calling in the plays. McVay was there at times. Regardless it’s not just the in game dynamics, the weekly prep and strategy sessions is where the rubber meets the road and that was Stafford and KOC.
False… KOC took care of the details of being the OC… running meetings and whatnot. McVay was the architect of the offense and the play caller. The fact you don’t know that tends to reduce your credibility here. Sorry. I deal in facts. And regardless of your commentary, Cousins has had to once again change his game with another OC who is finding his way. That, and bringing in a system that demands all the players adapt to it, rather than someone taking advantage of what the players do best. It’s taking a long time for the offense to meld. It’s only been successful because the skill position players are so good. I am not impressed with KOC. He’s made a lot of rookie mistakes, and he’s still figuring out how to call a game.
Pretty much, the apologists denigrate all other QBs in an effort to make Kirk look better than them, a lot fans do this for the players on their team, mostly the QB.

Honestly I don’t know why we keep doing this. It’s a game of all three phases complimenting each other to win. That’s it.

I missed the comeback. I stopped watching when they were down by two scores.
I ate a bit too many gummies and started watching a movie.
Today I am convinced this is a mandated have to win game for Cousins and his ongoing reputation in the league. He has over the course of the last 3 seasons gained back a little respectability that is justified with his play and the fact it has all been done with three different coordinators each season which is a testament to his talent.
Many nfl players, analysts and fans have come to Cousins defense by his play and he has way more that acknowledged his talent than detractors who typically get shunned as haters or live on sports blog boards as social misfits not comfortable in the public light with their malignant views on life and sport.
Today is different and a critical point for Cousins who has a hand hold on climbing the professional talent reputation mountain in the NFL. But a bad showing today at home in the national spotlight on the post season football stage against an average NYC team he beat a few weeks ago could send Cousins falling in to the abyss forever as the QB who couldn’t get out of his own head and way.
A win today will send him and his team into the path of a juggernaut Niners team who no one believes Cousins could or should beat thus saving his reputation from a longterm hit.
Kirk Cousins must guide his team to a win today. Period.
Agree here Lifer. Its time for Kirk to step it up. I’m quite happy that they are letting him change/adjust plays based on pre-snap reads. Vikings see a heavy box on about 20% of our downs, yet we have a habit of running right into them. Adjust to a better play. Kirk is good with pre-snap reads.

After watching 4 inexperienced QB’s yesterday, and all the trash talk on here about them, it will be interesting how an 8 year starting vet plays when the pressure is on.
Cousins himself should play well. It’s the rest of the team I’m worried about.
If good Kirk shows up, team will likely win. If bad Kirk shows up, team likely losses.
If the QB in any game plays poorly the team likely loses. Nothing new there. However, we also know a QB can do his job well and the team still loses. Just the way it goes. It has always been, and will always be, a team game.
