We’re heading to the flatlands of eastern North Dakota tonight. We’re staying in Jamestown tonight to play at the water park, then we’re going to the monster truck show in Fargo on Saturday, which is a surprise for kiddo. We’re also going to check out the new bowling alley & arcade in Fargo when we get finished, it’s supposed to be really cool. The Vikings hiring process for their defensive coordinator spot has been relatively slow and methodical over the past couple weeks. Apparently, a big cause for this is the fact that the Vikings are waiting on one more interview for this job: current Denver Broncos DC Ejiro Evero.
Evero is in the running for the Cardinals HC job though. I think other teams may be interested in garnering his services too, including the Bronco’s (Sean Payton).
If I had to guess, it’s because they want Flores but waiting on whether he goes HC or not.
There second choice is likely Evero if they can get an interview with him
Third is the seattle Desai guy. If he was number 1 they wouldve hired him already, that’s why its either Flores or Evero.

A weekend of debauchery is ahead of me and I CAN’T WAIT! My dad has had a pool tournament the weekend before the Owl since 1986. This tourney is older than me lol. It has been interesting watch these guys not be able to party as hard as they use to. 16 man tournament with a few friends stopping by but they have in the past gone through 2 full sized kegs plus other drinks on top of it. I remember years where I wasn’t drinking (didn’t drink till 21) and the kegs would be tapped and I would collect some money and run into town (grew up in the country) and have to drive someone of age with me to go buy more beer haha. The past few years they haven’t finished the two kegs, so only 1 this year.
Sounds like fun.
Next year is likely that last one before I take over and let dad just play and enjoy, would just love for the Vikings to make an Owl in his lifetime man. He’s got Parkinson’s so not sure how many good years left we got. I think next year makes the 40th annual which is crazy, never missed a year, not even Covid. Of course the one year I won was the Covid year where we had less people so kind of asterisk next to that year’s winner lol.

I can see again. It is a bit nerving during the surgery when everything was pure white and I couldn’t see shit and then they jump to do the other eye. Longest minute of my life for a bit. Totally worth it already and I am not even 100% healed yet. A slight blur today. Went with the SMILE procedure rather than the LASIK. It doesn’t create a flap and is less invasive. Best $4,500 I have spent in a long time.

there used to be a huge problem with gougers (like MT) eye surgeons who would do cataract surgery on vegetated old people in the last few months of their lives because Medicare was paying for it anyway…The feds eventually cracked down on that a bit…but that is the kind of abuse that happens when someone else is footing the bill.
Not sure what the ophthalmologist took home but no shit when my wife had her cataract surgery I swear I didn’t even finish a chapter in the book I brought between the time they wheeled her out of preop until they came back…and I read about three pages a minute. Not kidding it had to be under six minutes.
I’m sure Mrs. MT is quite accustomed to such speed…

It’s cheaper long term to pay for the LASIK. However, you aren’t necessarily their customer long term so it doesn’t matter.
When I traveled as a medical tourist to the west Saskatchewan town of Saskatoon in 2000, where I met a dark eyed girl named Faleena, she did Lasik for $999 Canadian an eye, all costs included. If cost is an issue I would go to Canada hands down, they’ve been doing LASIK for longer and it’s not every T, D, and H doing them.
That is what my brother did…went to canada. I think it cost him a total of 2,000 versus 4500 here.
I truly was super happy with it…spent a couple of nights before the surgery with my aunt and uncle while they did preop testing, spent the night in a hotel with my parents (don’t ask why they couldn’t stay with my aunt and uncle – it certainly wasn’t my aunt and uncle’s decision) after the surgery, got checked the next morning, stayed with my folks for a fun filled week and then stopped back at the clinic for a one week check. A year later I got a follow up exam at an affiliated clinic in Winnipeg, as I was in Grand Forks by then for med school.
The clinic was very professional, the ophth was very experienced. No regerts.

Fifteen years later I had to go to a Canadian bank to exchange it as retailers no longer recognized it. Then the bank gave me weird plasticy $20 bills.

Yeah, I work in IT, just got notified a week ago that my contract will not be extended. I changed my status on LinkedIn to “Looking” and had to turn it off after two days. Seems to be plenty of jobs out there. Trying to be patient and find a decent fit since I pretty much hate job interviews as much as I hate Kirk.
TL:DR – there are lots of jobs, but finding a good job could still be difficult.

Well I’ve watched the all 22 on the play a number of times. I don’t see any way Cousins could have done anything other than get the ball out to Hock on the play GF.
Not true, Dalvin was the dump-off, go watch again. Dalvin had a guy covering him but that guy was 5-10 yards away from him. Dalvin had a much higher % chance of getting that first down than Hock who was blanketed when he caught it.
Dalvin, AT, and KJ were on the off-side of the field from a progression perspective. Cousins was reading the right side of the field looking for JJ. He was looking at JJ but there was nowhere to put the ball as JJ wasn’t even looking back and the safety was eyeing Cousins. Then Cousins gets pressured and hit. His only option was to get the ball to Hock. Watch the play. There is no way Cousins can get to the left side of the field.
Untrue, Dalvin was the outlet, he was right there for an easy dump off.
The D was in a cover-1 robber, which shuts out the middle of the field, but there were options. Hock should’ve been the last option, but that’s who Kirk keyed in on immediately. Other options were better. When the pressure began, his first instinct should’ve been the dumpoff to Dalvin, who had room to make a move. Could’ve dumped it off to Dalvin, who would have been one-on-one and had space between he and the defender covering him where he could make moves. Dalvin is FAR more athletic than Hock in open space.
In the end, the defense lost the game. In the end, that last decision was fucking dumb. So was the play call, so was the protection, but so was the decision to throw to Hock.
Cousins would have to have grown wings and fly to get the ball to Dalvin. His back is to the left side of the field. No way to somehow jump three feet in the air and spin to get the ball out to Dalvin.
He had the same options Burrow had. Burrow made the right choice. They still lost the game, but he tossed the ball to a double covered WR that used to be a teammate of JJ.

You need to watch JJ running his route. He isn’t looking back for the ball, is seeing he’s bracketed with a safety over the top, and basically gives up on the route having nowhere to go. Watch him. He wouldn’t have even seen the ball if Cousins just chucked it up.
Then that’s his fault. He needs to do his job. You throw that damn ball to your best target and if JJ and if JJ wasn’t looking and wasn’t paying attention then all this discussion right now would be putting heat on JJ.

This is good after the fact analysis, but Cousins was working JJ as has been stated many times, and everyone says that’s where he should be going with the ball on this play. KJ is backside. Cousins clearly cannot see where he is, much less what the coverage looks like there. Runnning a play back and forth in slow motion to show where folks are on the field gives a very false representation of reality. The reality is Cousins is naturally looking for his #1 guy (JJ) first. Then he’s pressured and has to get the ball out. The commentary about KJ doesn’t match reality. Cousins head is never on the left side of the field, and he has no time to work the left side.
I’m simply pointing out there are a lot of opinions on that play that have come out “after the fact”, including yours. POV’s differ but the video I posted is just one example of a different opinion. IIRC, Kurt Warner’s post-game analysis also suggested KJ was the best option but he acknowledged the play call in that moment could have been better because Hock’s route was doomed from the beginning given the coverage on the play and KJ should have flattened his route sooner.
The bottom line is, for better or worse, rightly or wrongly, Kirk’s decision to check it down to Hock may have been the only certain option to complete the catch but it also sealed the Giants victory. I would have preferred Kirk pick a higher risk/reward option that at least gives them a chance at a 1st down, even if it resulted in an incompletion or INT.

Yep. Agree with your take, and I looked this play over quite a bit. Lots of things went wrong, but I would have liked to see Kirk force it to JJ. I actually put a ton of the blame on KOC. Why call a long developing pass play for JJ, AT and KJ when you need just 8 yards, and have your best receiver not named JJ run a 3 yard route?
