Last night, the story came out that KJ Osborn helped pull a man from a burning vehicle. Wow, what next?

Today I learned about possible Custer’s Last Stand survivors. Personally, I think the men were making it up for attention, but it was interesting nevertheless.
One guy, Nate Short, might have escaped the last stand and died trying to make it back home, but other historians disagree. It is all conjecture, but kind of cool to see how guys try to put the bits and pieces together.

Pulled the trigger on a tonneau cover for my truck. Was asking around for quotes on just a basic soft cover, just to keep shit dry if I have to have suit cases or something back there for travel. Guy gave me a few quotes, said he would call me back with more. Get a call back an hour later, guy said he’s got a deal for me, $1100 Bakflip cover for $450 with install. Said it came with the shop, size only fits my specific Ram 1500, they just want to get rid of the thing because they’ve had it for a while. I took that as a sign, sold.

Nice. I love having a tonneau cover. I have a soft cover thought so I can get it out of the way when necessary or remove it completely to load up the ATV.
This is a 3 stage folding hard cover, I cant quite get it ALL the way out of the way but can use 80%-90% of the bed still. I rarely have anything back there but I may actually be traveling with some people for ST Paddys need, would like to have things covered and protected back there.

That’s what we have on the ’21 F-150. Much nicer than the solid cover on the ’11 F-150. I wish I could think of something to use that one for, would take it off in a heartbeat.

Life jackets at all times. There could be a flash flood or you could drive your car off a bridge. Better mandate ice cleats in places like ND too because of all the slips, trips and falls on ice.
Ya’ know, this is a great point. It rains REALLY hard in some areas of the country, you just never know.

My belts come with this fancy button called a belt release.
It breaks in an accident a lot of times, or if it’s under water or just the tension if you are partially or fully hanging against the seat belt may not allow it to release. Plus, if I don’t pass legislation to mandate them in all vehicles, how am I supposed to make millions?
The techs came up with an idea today, a device you stick your hands into that basically takes care of the scrub (ie lathers your hands in disinfectant and gets in all the nooks and crannies), and then automatically gloves you.
I’m all for it as I struggle mightily if I have to gown and glove myself after surgical scrub. A little troll at Mayo refused to do it for the lowly residents and I managed to fuck it up several times.

That will be handled in the definition of “swimming.” Something along the lines of any activity in water of a depth greater than 3 feet. We will probably have to conduct some studies with the research agency I have partial ownership of to determine an adequate depth and wording.

I can get behind you have to wear a seat belt if someone else is in the car because to me it’s about freedom of choice. If I am riding with you and I want to be safe, you not buckling up could kill me, takes my free choice away. If you are by yourself I can’t understand the law at all. Difference is that if you glutton on fast food/candy/soda/junk food, it doesn’t cause others to swell up and be a drag on the nation’s medical resources.
Not wearing a seat belt can cause you to fail to regain control of your vehicle and crash into others, or be ejected in a rollover and cause others to crash either avoiding you or be permanently damaged because they drove over you.

No law should be written to protect people from themselves. Same with seatbelts and helmets. If you choose to ride a motorcycle on the Interstate without a helmet, that’s between you and whatever deity you may believe in. If your action doesn’t directly harm somebody else then it’s your choice.

Yeah, I disagree because we as a society bear the costs of the increased injuries suffered by numbskulls (pun intended) that don’t wear helmets or seatbelts. Considering the minute inconvenience of wearing a seatbelt it is not a big deal. Unless your freedom of choice extends to not being transported to a hospital after your car freely enters the median and frees you from the grips of gravity as you sail through the open door where you freely impact the ground at 60 mph.
In general, if I get into an accident on a motorcycle, I’m going to the hospital whether I am wearing a helmet or not, probably.
Should the same philosophy be applied to wearing shoes outside. If you choose to go barefoot outside and you cut your foot on a piece of glass, should you be refused treatment for the cut?

I think you may be thick. Apparently you believe that 100% of the costs of an individual with severe injuries and TBI is borne by the individual alone. Quite a few people have no insurance whatsoever. Who pays those costs? Far from abstract.

A patient living in an LTAC facility actually doesn’t see a doctor all that often. Most of the cost is cost of nursing and rehabilitative care. Maybe all you seatbelt deniers should volunteer to spend a few hours carrying for someone that was injured in a seatbelt free accident.
That is a pretty hollow argument. If people that have no inurance drive up costs for all, what does that have to do with anything? More people will probably die rather than be injured so the medical bills will go down. regardless, taking away peoples rights for something like this is ridiculous.
People without insurance eat fast food, get fat, and get heart disease, which costs us money. Therefore, we need to ban fast food. Same exact argument, IMO.

Yep. If the insurance company wants to have it in their policy that they won’t cover an injury because you didn’t wear a helmet, then go for it. Legally mandating it is dumb. Legislation to protect people from themselves is stupid. If you think your skull is tougher than asphalt, be my guest and test it out. Maybe you’ll help raise the IQ of the general population with a little addition by subtraction. Seatbelts for kids is different, but once you are an adult the choice should be yours. Kids may be able to decide their gender, but they will simply follow the lead of the adults in the vehicle on a seat belt. On the same day you got several posts upset that people entered the People’s House of Congress without permission and were part of an “insurrection”, but by God seatbelts are an infringement on my personal liberties.
HA! Even before reading this I just talked about how odd it is that the conservative party has embraced the Nanny state.
They like then nanny state for their priorities and not the other teams.
Its really kind of funny how it all works.

That’s what I do.
It’s a vary fair point and a real situation. Easy solution in my opinion. Vote out the incumbent to send the message we won’t put up with a corrupt person in office. Again, maybe it won’t work but why not give it a try? What we are currently doing isn’t working.
Term limits would help because you would get more people running that actually want to accomplish something and not just grift.

Maybe, I think one term as a Senator is enough or change to a 4 year term and allow 2. 3 or 4 terms in the House.
