It’s finally Friday, everyone, and welcome to Skoloholics! Join us for Minnesota Vikings talk, Vikings news, news from around the NFL, and virtually any other topic. On this site, the real action is in the comments, so if you haven’t checked out the comments section yet, you should join us! This is the daily back page, which is wide open. Therefore, you will see discussion of nearly ANY topic here. Our one rule here is: “Remember, be cool to one another”. Also, a word to the wise, don’t feed the trolls. SKOL!!!!!!

The Vikings locked in Harrison Smith yesterday, and I expect that we’ll see something happen with Dalvin Cook today. The Vikings can save anywhere from $8 million to $11 million by trading or releasing Cook, depending on whether they designate the move as post 6/1. I seriously doubt that the Vikings want to roll into 2023 with a $14 million cap hit for their running back, but you never know what’s going on behind closed doors.

Minnesota Vikings News:

The Minnesota Vikings agreed to terms on a deal with Harrison Smith to keep Smith in Minnesota.

From NFL.com, the Bears are signing D’Onta Foreman and Robert Tonyan, and the Eagles agreed to a 2-year $42 million extension to keep Darius Slay.

CBS Sports has an NFL free-agency tracker where you can keep up on all the latest moves.

Video of the Day:

Here’s a little Mitch Hedberg for your Friday. Enjoy!

He underperformed imo. Maybe had a few game stretch where he was getting pressure but never showed that enough which is exactly why the Giants let him go to FA.

No.

(On Lowery…Could be the case for rotational: After having a strong 2021, where he had 5 sacks and 42 pressures, he only had a half-sack and 17 pressures in 2022. That’s still a decent amount of pressures but not great.)

In one of my rare weighty posts, I have discovered a new reality show gem. If you hadn’t guessed, I have sworn off Bachelor franchise for…reasons. But this new show “Farmer wants a wife” has been a breath of fresh air. None of these ridiculous fairy tale dates, the five women are living in the bachelor’s real farm home and eating real food and going on real farm dates doing things like stacking wood and feeding cows. I get a real smile when a city girl says this just isn’t something I’m used to, no glitz and bustle of NYC.

Well, GA Hunter is an aspiring musician but does have some prairie poodles and hosses. NC Ryan has a cool barndominium with attached horse stables and does seem to know the horses he raises. Landon has 600 acres and three dogs in Okrahoma. TN Allen has a 200 acre cattle ranch and seems super genuine, also avid hunter. I am going to veto your comment. I identify with Allen.

My take on it is, the Packers do not want to trade him. They would prefer they force him to retire, which would save them millions in cap space. However, if I were Rodgers I would say screw it, I’m staying in Green Bay taking on the full contract. And play so badly they have to play Love anyway.

Signing a $13M defensive end and a $7M blocking tight end ate up $20M in cap space this year. We have 8 players on contract right now in that DE/OLB/Edge rusher role. Potentially we’ll cut half of them.

It’s one role with two guys on the field at any given time. I was covering the semantics of the position because depending on the front, people refer to them differently. “Edge rusher” basically covers it all though and we have eight of them on contract right now.

I had Virginia losing the next game so it doesn’t hurt me too bad, no worse than everyone else in the contest.

I know nothing about college basketball, so I am stabbing blindly anyway. It seems like upsets are more common now than ever, though.

I blame the Internet. It gives all schools access to the same data to use in game-planning, practice, nutrition, etc.

I’m looking forward to the NCAA wrestling quarterfinals today. I filled out a bracket for basketball at work but I don’t know anything about any of the teams or who I picked, I don’t even remember who I picked to win.

Do you ever get gastrointestinal issues while running? If so, this could also help with that.

I have a pretty sensitive system. My favorite time to run is when there are cornfields for as far as the eye can see. Then I always have a bathroom like twenty feet away!

I don’t have celiac’s but I may as well due to my sensitivity issues. This summer my wife brought home lamb curry from a restaurant. I thought it was lamb biryani, which is much less spicy at ate it.

I was no kidding sick for two months. I had a colitis flare up that was brutal. Constant bleeding. No fun.

Also, this incident taught my wife how she can easily kill me and make it look like an accident…

Lots of protein I would imagine, Carbs will be hard to come by. Friend of mine has that disease…has had it for a long time. Healthy, well-built guy though, seems like he is none the worse for it, in fact maybe better.

It’s not easy to eat gluten-free, holy crap.

My daughter is trying gluten-free as well to see if it helps her auto-immune issue. She just started this week.

I couldn’t go gluten free.

While classically a disease of infants, celiac disease now commonly presents at age 10-40.

Man that sucks. My wife has a couple relatives on her side with it, we’re all getting used to cooking for the group (we do a lot of group family camping and other social events).

It stinks that it lies dormant and can be triggered, but they say it never goes away.

There are tons of “leadership” books, classes and seminars. If everyone is leading, who follows? Why aren’t there follow-ship classes. I’m sure I could benefit from that.

Because leadership is harder than follow-ship…but this is an interesting point.

I’m trying to think of ways to break QB paradigms because the NFL gets too copycat at times, as in, “We need a $50 million QB to compete.”

This morning’s theory is that all NFC teams should switch to rookie QBs. There is no point for any NFC team to pay out of the nose for their Tier B QBs. The AFC is full of QBs that have wrecked the curve. High-paid Tier B QBs are now useless.

All NFC teams should have a rookie QB and devote the money saved to building an elite-QB-destroying team. If the rookie QB turns out to be elite, pay them. Otherwise, move on to the next rookie QB and do what you can to maintain the elite-QB-destroying aspect of the team.

High-paid Tier B QBs are the new Tier D QB. They are a trap. Don’t fall for it.

That’s good. I had no idea whether the concept is stupid or not, but the worst that can happen is I get called stupid. I’ve been called stupid before…and numerous times the label was aptly applied. In that case, I can live with it.

I think the worst thing I’ve ever been called was a “victim” by a girl I had the hots for. It was a total slap to the face in the moment, but, upon reflection, I realized she was 100-PERCENT RIGHT.

Totally changed how I dealt with various situations. I am very thankful she did not coddle me and gave it to me with both barrels.

My youngest granddaughter (10) is really into volleyball. She is also the smallest player on her team by far. She is not blessed with genes that will make her 6′ plus so I doubt she gets to the college level but once she sets her mind on something she puts her all into it.

I spent an hour bumping and setting for her, after that I was sore and she wanted to keep going. Sigh. I used to play volleyball in HS so she just absorbs my pointers. Too bad we aren’t closer so she could work with your wife a bit.

You don’t have to be tall to be a great college volleyball player. Teach her how to set and she will be fine.
