I’ll be honest, I was tuned in very infrequently this weekend, so I had to play catch-up to get up to date on all the Vikings news. It took me about 22 seconds to catch up. In other words, not much has happened. I had a great weekend, kiddo and I bowled a couple times & we got to hang out with family and friends, so all in all, it was a fun time.
My thoughts and prayers are with the folks down in Mississippi who were hit by the tornadoes this weekend. One of the towns that was wiped out, Silver City, was only a few miles from where I lived down there. They’re saying that the tornadoe was a mile wide, and was on the ground for an 80 mile stretch. Holy hell. I’ll link a video here for you, it’s really bad.

The difference in wins is misinformation. The Ravens are a very good team with a great head coach and front office, not to mention the greatest kicker of all time. Cousins has been stuck on bad teams with bad front offices. From a QB production perspective it’s impressive what Cousins has done with bad teams.

I think stats have to be considered in context. Cousins has played in Zimmer’s offense centered on Dalvin Cook in four of the last five years. Even last year we saw KOC go into a shell and run the ball three straight times to eat clock or force the other team to take timeouts. Baltimore runs a lot, but they are an attacking offense nonetheless. Cousins has played in a ball control type “prevent offense” .
Still only three other QB’s have thrown more TD’s than Cousins since 2018, and none of those guys are named Lamar Jackson.

nothing will ever be identical. If that’s the prerequisite then nobody can be compared to anyone else in the league.
You’re dealing in hypotheticals now, and intoning with different receivers Lamar would throw more TD’s. No idea there. That’s unprovable. The fact that Baltimore runs the ball more than anything means defenses get sucked up to the line of scrimmage, and when Lamar throws he’s able to throw to the middle of the field (mostly to his Tight End) in open spaces. He does not throw the ball a lot though. His forte’ is running the ball.
This discussion is fine. I like Lamar and he is my wife’s favorite player. We hope the situation ends well for him. Not sure what will happen, but I will assure you he isn’t coming to the Vikings.
You can’t look at just the passing numbers and compare when the offenses are completely different with how one is built around Lamar’s skills and the other around Kirks. Apples and Oranges. Lamar has layup passing opportunities because defenses are set up to try and stop him running. Kirk would absolutely shred defenses set up that way.
End of the day the stats point out Lamar needs to run, a lot and it has been proven running QB’s do not last in this league so for what it would cost to get him I’ll laugh at the team that steps up and takes that hit. He’ll likely stay with the Ravens I believe because I think GM’s won’t pay the price for him nor should they.

it’s never apples to apples but there’s only so many things to compare. Might as well use skin color right?
Hypotheticals… there are no answers here, just summations.
Every situation is different so we have to go by what we’ve seen which are the decisions Lamar’s coaches made when presented options of what kind of offense to design. They designed a QB run heavy offense with a strong running game behind Lamar. #2 level WR corps no big names and a top level pass catching TE that blocks well also. All this points to Lamar is a better runner than passer or they would have gone the other route.

To date, Lamar is an exciting QB. That’s great. His legs are a ticking time bomb though, and when they go, he’ll be a very expensive nothing burger.

100% agree about Lamar, already having injuries is consecutive seasons and he’s only 26, he’ll be cooked physically at 30. If the Vikings are going to move on at QB an injury prone running guy demanding 250 mil guaranteed is not wise.
That would be a disaster for the Vikings. The requested collateral is a torpedo for the entire roster. No way I’d want him.

Well for starters the deal Lamar is asking for, $100+ mill guaranteed. Just because he won an MVP does not mean he’ll play at that level ongoing. His play the last few years hasn’t been anything close to that. Injuries with his style is another issue. Couple that with the compensation the Ravens are demanding and it’s simply not worth it. Would be better to stick with Cousins short or longterm or draft his replacement.

The use of deadly force is authorized in law enforcement and the military. Both have very strict rules of engagement that put those members at a severe disadvantage. They can’t just shoot anyone they want and any discharge of their weapon is scrutinized heavily.

I feel bad for our law enforcement folks, they’re stuck between a rock & a hard place. I have a shit ton of respect for those who are doing it right, which is a vast majority of them. There are bad apples in every bunch, it’s no reason to judge all law enforcement because of a few bad actors.
True… I was in Afghanistan and other places doing night door to door searches for bad guys. We had rules of engagement that were unrealistic but had to be adhered to. There were many nights I was convinced would be my last on earth.

Also the passing offense has some level of freedom for the receivers to alter their routes based on what they see the defense doing. If you’re asking a QB to read not only the defense, but also his receivers behind a bad line, it’s not gonna be pretty sometimes. Second year in this offense I hope is much better.

i had my fantasy baseball draft last week (look past the fact it’s fantasy baseball), and i came down with a nasty migraine about an hour and a half before the draft. i asked a buddy of mine in the same league if he could draft my team, he said no problem. i called the commish of the league and asked if it was ok if my buddy also drafted my team, and made sure he was good with it and that he didn’t find it illegal etc.. he had no problem as long as my friend didn’t mind.
fastforward to draft. commish decides since my buddy drafts before me, then he would have 4 picks in 6 picks (he picked 8, i picked 9, someone else 10 and then snake back) that it’s unfair for whatever reason so i would just be “Awarded” best player available
so my team completely sucks since the yahoo league we are in puts relievers highly rated, even though there are better players to choose.
pretty pissed. wish the commish would have called me to let me know he changed his mind and i would have drafted through my migraine.

Based on the results thus far, I don’t think either team is a real “winner”. Williams had one catch last season (of course it was a 40 yard TD in a win against the Vikings), Cine barely played and got hurt, Booth sucked and also got hurt. We’ll see what happens this year, but I expect Williams will very productive, if healthy Cine should be playing over Bynum , Booth sucks and will probably get hurt more.
