Twins scored 9 run in the top of the 1st at Yankee Stadium.
They have a chance as it should be an even game now.

Kenny Rodgers autorec…when my son was < 6 months he was very sickly…I would pace the house at night with him draped over my forearm and I would sing this song over and over again (it was one of the few I knew by heart) in an attempt to sooth him.

Not really a very happy memory.

That’s a good Dad.

My youngest had 2 surgeries by the time he was 4 months old (one at 3 weeks to open the pylorus so food could exit his tummy into his intestine, one to cut out a narrow section of the Aorta (coarctation) – thank God for the nurse who heard the murmur at his 8-week checkup).

I used to sing him (and likely very out of tune) St. Judy’s Comet (Paul Simon lullaby).

He will likely need a valve replacement once his heart is full grown, but the MDs say “let him play!” He did TBall last year, wrestling over the winter, and is looking forward to TBall again.

Having a 6-year old with me age 55 now…….it’s a blessing in so many ways.

I worked at a day care in college for a while. I remember a kindergarten age little girl who had older brothers. Some other kid bounced a kick ball to her and hit her right between the legs. She bent over in pain and said, “Ow! My peanuts!” I chuckled and said, “Just so you’re aware, girls don’t have those so I think you’re fine.” And she popped right up and goes, “Oh OK.” And scampered on her way haha. Crazy to think if that were today I’d have to worry about getting pushback for stating a fact.

Two weeks ago the Vikings were going to go all in on Levis.
Now the Vikings won’t draft a QB at all.

If you average it out, it adds up to the Vikings drafting a QB in the mid to late rounds.

I mean it makes sense. I’m guessing if the guy they want falls out of the top 5 to somewhere like 7-9 where it wouldn’t take 3 firsts to trade up they might make a move, but I don’t see them trading all the way to 3.

Idk i’m sick of drafting secondary every single year it seems like. If we get a stronger pass rush maybe we don’t need 500 million corners or safeties. Safety is a concern though since it’s likely hitmans last season but can deal with it next year.

CB depth is a concern but i believe i read its a deep DB draft so could get some value in rounds 2-4. Not round 1 pick

It is amazing what a good consistant pass rush will do for a less than stellar secondary. Just look back a couple of years and see what Micah did for the Dallas defense.

Ya. CB depth is a problem given that the Murphy, Booth, and Evans have major injury history problems.

Vikes will definitely draft a CB or 2, but they can get some solid value later on in draft.

Our defense has played “bend don’t break” for at least the last 3 years. That puts stress on the secondary and the running game defense. Moving to a 3-4 turned the DE’s into OLB’s which is a pretty big change. We didn’t stuff the run, and we didn’t pressure the opposing QB’s much. In fact the defense was very defensive.

If Mayer is there and they deem him to be one of the best in the past 5-10yrs to come out then go for it. I’d love to see double TE sets with him and Hock. No Oliver is not a pass catching TE FFS.

Lot’s of options at 23 or late 1st if they trade back. Flowers, Addison, Quentin, Kancey, Breese all great options. Just take the best guy not that hard.

Those comps are so stupid. Young is like Brees because he’s short (though like 2 inches shorter than Brees and about 50 pounds lighter). Stroud like Dak because who knows. Richardson is athletic and big. That doesn’t make him Cam. Levis is stocky and has a big arm. That doesn’t make him Stafford. Plenty of stocky, big armed QBs have done nothing (see Paxton Lynch). Hooker = Geno because the media group think has him not as good as the others.

If they don’t draft one of the top QBs they better be extending Kirk then. Problem is Kirk gets all the leverage again.

StarTrib beat writers said yesterday Kirk is not out of the question to resign. However, they did say that the Vikes feel they are not forced to draft a QB this season and would be content with a mid-tier Vet to bridge the QB for 2025. They also said the Vikes are heavily against having a rookie start year 1.

Ef that bridge QB crap. Keep Kirk.

I don’t think it’s easier, but they haven’t shown even a hint of ability to build a roster like what the Niners or Rams did so take a shot at a new QB. That’s why I’m a proponent of taking at least one shot every year, even if Kirk is still on the team. Get somebody else, see if he’s good enough, if he is, Alex Smith Kirk. However, Cousins is not average. What the Redskins have had since Cousins left is what you call average. Those guys have produced 95 passing TD’s in the last 5 seasons. Cousins has 153 playing mostly in Zim’s prevent offense.

And as we’ve learned its impossible to do that in todays league with the money he wants and the cap % he takes up. This experiment has been tried 5 years running and you still dont see that its a failure. No team has ALL the right pieces. They need players that can elevate regardless of the pieces. Thats not Kirk.

Except Cousins is pretty much the best player on the team year in and year out, game in and game out. The one guy you can count on to be available every game and do his job at a high level. Proof of the pudding is in the eating. only three QB’s in the league have thrown more TD’s than Cousins in the last 5 years. He is a top shelf QB and one of the best in Vikings history.

Facts and all.

That may be true. But most of these mobile type QB’s I see. don’t have Kirks arm or his accuracy. And KOC runs an offense that requires a QB that can throw sideline to sideline and short, intermediate and deep.
If I may, a slightly different question on this matter as I don’t understand some of the thinking here. I think our offense was good enough last year to win a SB. Now, we were near the bottom running the ball, but our passing offense carried the team. And obviously the QB is a big part of that. But our defense! Look at that Giants playoff game – it wasn’t poor it was putrid!
And, i believe I read on this site that our defense was like 12th well paid right behind the 49ers. So money doesn’t seem to be the problem. Given all that, I would get rid of every single player on that defense before I would even consider losing the QB.

Since Cousins left the Redskins they are 31-49-1. THAT ain’t close .500. In his three years as the full time starter for the Redskins the team finished 24-23-1 which is slightly over .500.

In his 5 seasons here the Vikings are 46-33-1 (.581) when Cousins starts.

Redskins with Kirk: 26-30-1; 8.6 wins a year.
Redskins since Kirk left: 32-49; 6.4 wins a year.
1 playoff appearance with Kirk.
1 playoff appearance without Kirk.

Vikings since Kirk arrived: 46-33-1; 9.2 wins a year.
2 playoff appearances with Kirk. One playoff win with Kirk.

Kirk makes a team slightly better.

If I had to guess, the Packers are holding out for another pick (or a higher pick). The Jets are balking.

I would love it if it never happens, Rodgers shows up to Packers camp out of spite, and the Jets go on and draft a HOF QB with one of the picks they refused to give up.

As we prepare for the annual assault on our senses that is the NFL draft, it’s important to keep in mind that in the end, pro football (like all pro sports) is entertainment. The extravaganza’s surrounding pro sports events like the draft grow ever grander each year. The hype, the promotions, the displays grow ever more involved and the shows become ever more “entertaining”. I personally tired of this years ago and don’t watch any of it any more.

The games afoot…. we’ll see in November or December how well KAM and KOC did in the draft and the offseason team changes.

This is an important draft for KAM…at least from my point of view. A GM should only get three seasons. If they aren’t flashing something special within that time, move on. KAM’s first draft was not special. He needs to trend upward this go around with limited ammo. Otherwise, he is already running out of time on my grading scale.

I’m hoping he can nail this one and the next one. That is well within the Meatloaf Principle — two out of three ain’t bad.

A way exists where the project can be done on Friday easily, if the other person slightly inconveniences themselves today, as well. I have suggested this course of action.

Yup. How very cruel of me not to keep technologists and nurses late to do a procedure that could have been easily accommodated earlier that week or even that day. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve done it in the past only to find the patient still there on Monday because the LTAC or swing bed can’t take them, etc…

See?? always thinking of yourself, those Technologists and Nurses probably are missing out on some great overtime pay….But NOOO…its 5 pm on Friday and you want everyone to leave.

On a serious note, since I have been on the side of taking care of an elderly loved in the hospital, it is almost never a bad thing for them to stay an extra couple of days.

It really is a conundrum. They got a good run blocking TE, kept Ham, maybe they are getting a guy to develop a year for the following season?

Well because maybe there is a good RB to draft this year to replace Cook in 2024.

Cook will be playing for the Vikings in 2023 IMO.
It costs too much to release him post June 1, when he can still make some good to great plays.

Mr “I’m not going to be Partisan” to a fault. Fucker knew without a doubt the CIA tortured detainees and the techniques never worked, the CIA’s own internal study proved it yet the CIA continued funding and doing it then lied and intimidated to cover it up. When Obama finally signed to stop funding it when it came time to prosecute those individuals responsible he punted like the bitch he is to keep his healthcare bill in play for approval by a republican majority in congress.

America should own up to it’s mistakes if it wants to continue to be the greatest democracy in history. You don’t cover your shit up and then think it makes you a better nation and society. Look what we have now Liars and Grifters.

We should also admit that electing a crooked business man who has made a career out of using foreign labor, products, dodging taxes, etc… was a mistake. Clearly someone who doesn’t give two shits about the prosperity of the country. The fact either of you support the guy on your side is fucking disgusting. The bar has been lowered to the levels of people actually supporting Trump or Biden is a sad, sad state of affairs in this country. That said… Trump > Biden. Because Vomit does smell better than shit. Doesn’t mean either smells good.

If you vote for him, you support him. It’s a literal vote of approval and tells your party in your state and country that this kind of guy is fine and OK to represent you. Does ND not allow any 3rd party option? I refuse to vote for either. If I was forced to vote for one or the other… I wouldn’t vote.

Edge I voted for him to try and avoid all the damage that has been done to the Country under Biden.

  1. High inflation
  2. Open Borders
  3. Decrease in our standing in the world
  4. Higher taxes, more socialism.

None of these things were happening or would have happened under a Trump Administration.

Of course I am going to vote against all of those things , which I did.

You voted for Trump. That is a nod of approval. You can try to twist it however you want. I didn’t vote for Trump or Biden…

Trump really is against open borders except for H-2A and H-2B Visas, he made sure those were excluded… why? Because many of his employees at hotels and golf courses work under those Visas, he only cares about the prosperity of his pocket book.

Higher taxes were coming. Did you see what the Trump tax plan was going to do in later years?

Legal immigration is not an open border. It’s the difference between leaving your front door and all the windows in your house open with a sign in the front yard that says they’re open and keeping them locked while only letting in the people you want. Immigration is fine, but it needs to be controlled, legal and at least primarily merit based. Merit being what you can provide or actual asylum, not the phony claims that are getting people in.

My point is when he did the Covid Immigration Order he shut everything down except those. The dude does not care about anything above his own bottom line. That always trumps everything (pun intended). Not to mention many people are here illegally that originally came on legal visas. Trump only wants a wall because he likes building big things with his name one it. Walls aren’t effective. Proven over and over that they are easily defeated by going under, over, or through.

The border shouldn’t be ignored but the solution shouldn’t be to spend billions on ineffective things. The wall is dumb. I could be swayed on this, I too want a secure border but I have yet to see an argument that supports a wall being worth it. Could it stop a few people? Sure. Just like the TSA has probably stopped a couple issues. Are they worth billions and billions of dollars? Fuck no. Use that money things that could actually make a difference.

No, walls and doors are great at blocking the wind. And we all know locks on doors and windows really only help keep honest people out. Someone wants in your house they are getting into your house. It’s a stupid analogy. For many reasons. A big one being, if I pay for the doors, the locks, etc… that’s my problem. Trump spending billions of tax dollars for an ineffective wall for pure vanity reasons is a big difference.

I mean, I voted for Ross Perot’s Rotting Corpse last election, but I knew I was wasting my vote. 3rd party candidates are all just a bunch of wackos with one singular agenda item, like weed legalization, that they are running on and Libertarians are fooling themselves if they think they’ll have any real impact at the state or fed level, might as well have just resurrected the “Know Nothings” party lol.

Lol not always. I typically end up voting for the Libertarian party candidate. But I live in SD… the electoral college has made many states votes pointless for president. Trump could be caught red handed murdering thousands of babies, and personally funding raids on people’s homes to collect guns. Then run on a campaign pro 2nd amendment and anti abortion and the fucking Re-dumb-licans of this state would vote him in by a landslide in this state for being a good family man Christian who supports the 2nd amendment and pro life and not a Dem. This is only slightly hyperbole. I have heard people tell me they are voting for him because he is a good Christian family man. They just assume, besides all the actual evidence to the contrary that’s what he is because he has a “R” behind his name. Also I understand it’s just as bad in super blue states on the other side.
