I’m currently watching the draft, wondering why nobody has chosen Gonzalez, but now he was just selected by the Patriots. The Vikings still haven’t moved up for a QB, so I’m pretty sure they’ll be trading back from #23. By the time you read this, we’ll know whether I’m correct. I guess they could go WR, with all of them still available. It’s been a crazy draft so far, lots of trades and lots of surprises. The Lions REALLY reached for a RB.
UPDATE: The Vikings select Jordan Addison from USC. and REALLY beefed up their WR corps. Now I’m ready for bed.

Last season, he put up 875 yards and 8 TDs for USC. Previously, he played for Pittsburgh, and he had a monstrous 2021 season that culminated in 1593 yards and 17 TDs. If he can continue to show that he isn’t plagued by drops, then Addison may help push Minnesota’s offense into the top 5 in the NFL.

Looks pretty shifty, more of a double move guy i think. KC will need better line play. IMO.
KOC’s offense needs a lot of work. His receivers take off on their routes looking at the defenders and deciding where they’re going. The QB must not only read the defense, he must also figure out where his receivers will be. Behind a porous line, that leads to big hits on your QB as he has to wait for things to develop downfield, vice hitting his back foot and the ball coming out. Addison and Cousins won’t have much chemistry initially, and like Reagor, one would expect the rookie will stop on routes, run the wrong way, etc. leading to interceptions. KOC needs to accept this fallacy in his scheme. He needs to work out the kinks with Cousins and get the route tree built in a way that is executable.
Agree, developing plays take time. We show to many times we can’t give KC that much. interior needs to pick it up. Will see, not overly confident at this point.
I’m not overly confident either. KOC strikes me as a guy who thinks he’s smarter than everyone else. I’m wondering if he can see the issues here and accept his failings.
Still. they were 7th in the league passing. Would think everyone (except new WR) would be better this year in the system. And despite the pick, may see a lot more two even three TE sets.
The passing offense succeeded last year mostly on the pure talent and chemistry the QB and the receivers had from their many games together. They sort of succeeded in spite KOC’s offense, not because of it. As I said, I’m hopeful Cousins sat down with KOC and went over the offense with him after the season and told him how to adjust it.
Obviously Pickett is way better than the USC QB
Correct AND Addison readily admitted he dropped some balls he should have caught. He went to work on it daily on the juggs machine and improved dramatically. His coaches at USC said when he transferred in day one he went to work to prove himself and worked harder than any player they have. He didn’t show up as the reigning Biletnikoff award winner thinking he was the man and had nothing to prove. He out worked everyone, he’s that type of guy. He’s going to be a good one.
This does sound somewhat good, I’ll cancel that order for tar and feathers I placed yesterday.

Zero chance they give up next year first to move into top 5 2nd round and liekly would take a future second and 4th to move up in back half of 2nd round. Don’t see that happening either.

This is the last living child of my first cousin. She’s already buried two sons. One was born seriously disabled, who passed when he was 16. The other passed of cancer at 31. She does have one grandson, thank goodness, and some step adult children and grandchildren.

I don’t know man, I watched the draft room when we were taking Addison. Its like they were trying to talk themselves into thinking this is a good pick…It looked a little forced to me, but I could be wrong.
They panicked when the clock was at 28 seconds. I really think they were going to get a deal to trade back and didn’t. Then forced to pick him.

He has the same agent as Travis Kelce or Kittle don’t remember exactly but he told him before the draft he suspected 5 percent chance of the first round. 35 percent chance of the 2nd and 45 percent chance the 3rd. 🤷♂️. Booth – with his limited snaps he sucked badly and massively injury prone since high school
Evans – Showed potential but 3 concussions in one season is a concern
Asamoah – showed potential with limited snaps and likely the starter this season
Otomewo – Did he even play?

Cine couldn’t beat out Bynum, who is super meh then broke his leg, Booth sucked and then got injured, Evans looked like the best of the rookies drafted last year but he’s like one concussion away from early onset dementia now. Ingram sucks and the worst pass blocking guard in the NFL. Of course one year is far too early to judge. If Cine is fully recovered I still like him to become a good player, he had no injury concerns coming out. I hate Ingram and wish he were not a Viking. I liked seeing Assmoa play, it nice to see a LB who runs faster than Bradbury. I’m optimistic about some, but I don’t see any “studs”.

Some are good, some are not good or bad, some just really suck. The coaching for sure sucked. Let’s go through the depth chart player by player:
Lowry – new guy from GB, nothing special about him, meh
Tonga – fat guy in the middle, nothing special about him, meh but nice pickup for UDFA
Phillips – slightly better than meh, though he offers very little as a pass rusher
Hunter – still a good player but not elite last year
Z Smith – good but up and down, elite first half, then disappeared down the stretch
Hicks – sucked and should have been cut along with Kendricks
Assmoah – will likely make some sizzle plays along with being out of position, averages out to meh
Murphy – good player if he can stay on the field
Booth – sucks and injured
Evans – good but hard to depend on a guy who went on season ending IR with 3 concussions
Bynum – not good and borderline bad
Smith – Not what he once was though still a good player, at least he recognizes this and restructured to reflect it

That and I’m guessing they were only willing to trade back so far, like they probably had a group of 4 guys, perhaps something like Nolan Smith, Bresee, Banks, and Addison, that they wanted to make sure they could get, so they likely weren’t going to trade back further than 3 or 4 spots.
Smith, Bresee, or even a CB would have been ok picks as well. The Addison pick is ok, no more, no less, some like Mick have a boner about it, some, like Skolly, are butthurt about it, but it is just an ok pick.
