There won’t be a whole lot happening until June 1st, I suppose. At that point, I think we’ll see movement with Dalvin Cook, unless they somehow come to an agreement on a reworked deal, but I find that highly unlikely. Until then, we’ll just hope that nobody gets arrested and everyone manages to stay out of the news.
There isn’t a whole lot new going on in life right now, either. I’m about 70% healed from my hand surgery, just working on range of motion. I bought a new tent, as we finally wore out our old one, which lasted a good 4 or 5 years. I’ll be coaching kiddo’s baseball team again this year, and that fires up in a couple weeks. Also, I’m still not fired. Yay!
I am very stoked for the beginnings of summer. It was a long and very cold and snowy winter, and the flowers blooming is a welcome sight. We’re dryer than a popcorn fart, so there are no fires or anything allowed again, but the fishing will hopefully be heating up soon, as it’s been slow so far.

We brought Marcus Davenport in on a one year $13M deal, and he had a whopping 1/2 a sack last year. Everyone says this guy is a great edge player, but to date I think he’s underperformed. In 5 seasons he’s only started 32 games, and only played in 63. To me, $13M was way too much for a guy like this. Just my opinion though.
He is injury prone with potential upside. That’s all KAM wants cause he gets them cheap

My take is KAM thinks he can bring in guys who aren’t high on folks lists for whatever reason, and still have enough talent on the team to compete. We’ve seen the propensity for bringing in players with injury history. Guys with talent that can be had for pennies on the dollar. I think it’s his strategy.

I know you guys will find this fascinating but I was pleased to find out about the disposition of septic tank sludge.
One of the items that went into planning the shouse addition was avoiding disturbing the septic tank and drainfield. The tank will end up being located in an “alley” between the addition and a concrete pad dog run (that we’ll turf with artificial turf). My wife was concerned about the septic pumper being able to reach the tank if we should need it pumped in the future, just so happens one of the technologists is part owner of that biz. Told me they have multiple 50 foot hoses so not a problem, heck they could pull in the shop side of the shouse and pump through the door.
I asked what they did with the sludge, if it went to the city wastewater facility. Turns out the city won’t accept it … but if you own five acres or more of ag land the sludge can be legally dumped on your land (as long as it doesn’t drain directly into water). They have a couple of deeded patches of land they dump on when a landowner doesn’t meet the criteria.
The reason I was pleased to find this out is – Glendive doesn’t have an RV dump and we frequently boondock (ie don’t stay in a park with hookups) so you can imagine what I do with our black and grey tank contents when we come back from a trip.
Any idea if the 5 acre rule is a Dawson County thing or a state thing?
I would assume it is a county thing related to the county sanitarian as they get involved with all the septic permits, etc, not the state.
That would be my guess. Just curious. I’m nowhere close to 5 acres, yet.
I personally don’t monkey around with the septic system, just know where the drainfield is so I don’t plant trees, drive heavy truck over it, etc…Truly is fascinating how they work and the technologist was a wealth of information on the subject.
Told a story about one of their workers leaving the lid off a partially emptied tank while he ran to empty the truck and the property owners $5,000 Saint Bernard pup fell into the tank. The owner was the local multimillionaire and made quite a stink pun intended. They lowered the inspection camera and the dog was fine just covered in ahem sludge. The tech’s husband (who is claustrophobic, hates MRI) was lowered into the tank (skinny guy) and successfully retrieved the dog. No thanks were offered.
In a previous life I helped install septic systems. That was central MN though so they were all mound systems. I was always told you should have your septic tank pumped every 2 years, otherwise you run the risk of plugging your drainfield and then you are truly f’ed. All of the tanks we installed at least were 2 compartment tanks meant to settle out the solids to be pumped later, while the liquids went to tank half 2 for pumping to the drainfield. I don’t think there is quite as much risk with in ground systems, but it is likely not good on the pump that is meant for pumping liquids, not solids.
The guy that put in the system is a shirt tail relative, salt of the earth guy that knows his shit. He also has done all the prep work for the foundation etc and runs his skidsteer and backhoe like I run my fluoroscope. If you take care of them typically at least ten years in these parts before they need pumped out. Things like not too much water, no oils, minimize non digestible things. Majority of the solids going down the drain should be poop and TP.

Apparently (it makes sense when you think of it plus when you see what happens to the 15 gallons of waste dumped from the RV) the sludge disappears after a good rainfall only to be replaced by greenery loving the fertilizer.
The PMQs we lived in in Deutschland had toilets with shelves designed to capture solids and let liquids drained, so that the solids could be placed in a receptacle to be used for fertilizer. Those industrious Germans and their innovative designs.

That sounds familiar. Montana tried suing Wyoming once (or maybe vice versa) for water pollution. The water coming into Montana, from Wyoming, while meeting Wyoming’s water quality levels, did not meet Montana’s. I don’t remember if that was the government or some environmental group. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was the government though. I have heard of some pretty stupid rules from DEQ such as requiring a company that uses river water then puts it back in the water to have it considerably cleaner than what the river is. Basically, all the silt in the river right now is a pollutant when put there by an industry but is perfectly fine in the river. As soon as that water leaves the river proper it must go back into the river basically as fresh spring water.
We have water rights and one thing I know is it is better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission. Probably have a freak out at cows wading across the creek or me drawing a bucket of water for plants.

Just comparing the 2 for value. If Stafford was worth two 1’s, a 3 and Goff, I don’t see how Cousins wouldn’t be. Plus, I think Goff was worth more at the time than Lance is now. Lance should have little value. Other than the fact he was drafted high, he has done nothing but get injured.
I think one of the Rams 1st rounders was to take Goff off of their hands.
Maybe, especially with Purdy, the Niners want to get Lance off their hands. Let Purdy sit and heal for at least this year while learning from Kirk and dump a first rounder that you don’t believe in anymore.

The Jets gave that up for someone whose been to NFCCG’s, SB and won all of those and is a future HOF. He’s a giant tool and a douche bag, but he is also those other things. Kirk is none of those things.
He also said he almost retired this year, so there’s a good chance he does next year. That means they gave that all up for 1 year. Kirk has at least a couple years in him still and isn’t a goofy dark room douche.

In 2021 the defense was ranked 30th in yards per game and 23rd in points per game.

Cousins played for the Redskins who were the laughing stock of the league except for their passing game when Cousins was the starter. The Vikings have been terrible across the board except for their passing game since Cousins got here as well.

Yes… Kirk Cousins has done that his whole career… he has given teams with bad defenses a chance to win… bad O-lines too… bad running games… bad kickers. Cousins gives the team a chance to win by putting up a large volume of TD’s. You know, what you pay a QB to do.

Take out the 2024 5th to SF and its the Stafford trade. Is Lance worth more than Goff? I would say no. He has done nothing in the league but get hurt. Goff was a higher draft pick and took them to a SB. Is Cousins worth that much less than Stafford who has always been hurt and did nothing prior to going to SF? I don’t think so. Cousins is a good QB and is always available, minus a cold that one time.
I don’t know how the dead hits worked in the Stafford/Goff trade though and I didn’t look to see what kind of a hit SF would take getting rid of Lance, but I doubt it is very much.
You have put together an interesting trade. You note above that all Lance has done is get injured. I believe he has also shown he doesn’t throw a football very accurately. What are we going to do with him.
Pay him a couple million dollars (about 2 million more than Mullens) to see if he can figure it out. If he can’t, then you have picks to move up (or he sucks so bad you’re already at the top of the draft) and get a QB.
Just me, would rather trade for another younger proven QB. Lance sucks, so we draft one and the odds are he might too. Now we’ve gone 3 years being bad and where are we. Draft another one and start again.

If by proven you mean he is color blind and/or forgets what color his team is wearing while throwing passes, then yes.
(I actually wouldn’t mind them bringing Wilson in to replace Mullens for cheap, like a 6th or 7th).
Not really sure – but think there is a fair amount of downside to a trade like this. As long as everyone is able to swallow the downside and live with it, so be it.

I don’t think Cousins is bad, I just don’t think this team, with the resources they have now, is going to be good enough around Cousins to win anything. Do like the Lions, admit that, get more resources and try to build something special.
Kirk could win one with the Vikings…. But he’d need the rest of the team… most the defense to be more than flaming dogshit.

If Lance doesn’t work out, you’d have the picks to draft one. If he does, even better. You’d have a bunch of picks to load up both sides of the ball with high picks on low salaries.

What good players are actually available right now? Unless there’s somebody they’re targeting, I say hold on to the cap space for injuries, unexpected vets that get cut in training camp or just save it for next year.
Cap space for injuries? If we lose a big contributor, it’s not like we are going to be able to sign someone that brings us back into contention. And yes I think as we sit we are contenders to win the NFCN, be in the playoffs and be a problem for other teams. But… If we lose a big contributor to injury, might as well ride the slide to a better draft spot for next year haha.
Even guys that aren’t big contributors need to replaced if they get injured. Every team keeps space to sign guys when, not if, injuries happen. Usually a couple mill is sufficient. If there is somebody they want to sign, great use it. Otherwise it doesn’t hurt to wait for a big cut in training camp or to keep that cap space for next year.

At the end of the day it is unenforceable and merely a symbolic gesture. There is no way to keep an app from working within the state’s borders. It would be as simple as uploading your videos via VPN from a desktop computer or a VPN client on your mobile device, unless they require location. Especially if it would require GPS tracking it will likely get shot down in the courts and be a symbolic gesture, nothing more.
But they also want to see if they can get away with passing the law without a bunch of pushback. If it does, they know they can do it again for something they can enforce.
